Just out of curiousity... how many of you are in different time zones from your ex? Do you find that it makes a difference on what things you do together or not, if you're say, 3 hrs apart in time?

My fiancé and I watched 2 seasons of Heroes via the 'okaaaaay NOW' method, but then it got annoying to try to find a good one online so we gave up. Haven't done full out movies yet though (I don't DL movies... personal preference).

You should check out http://www.lovingfro...ouplestodo.html

some great and interesting information here...

all terrific things to consider doing now.

hahahah yeah, I was reading about the chicken pox vaccine before I got it last week, and apparently parents used to bring their kids over to the house of a kid who got chicken pox, hoping that their kids would catch it from them, and thus become immune once it was gone. laughing.gif

QUOTE (SapphireDreams @ Oct 26 2009, 09:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just a few things that no one has mentioned.

In terms of it being a NEW vaccine. Every year the flu shot is technically new. The virus strain is always changing, so they need to re-work the vaccine to fit the new strain every year. So H1N1 is no different, it is a different strain of flu, so the vaccine is meant to work to block a particular strain of the flu.

Actually yeah, that's a good point. I forgot about that.

Also, just to add.. lol
if we all stopped doing treatments or vaccines because we didn't like where they came from, then Insulin would've never been a popular treatment for diabetes (it was originally manufactured from cow and pig insulin and it has 'additives'), and seriously... look at chemotherapy's side effects!!

I'm just sayin'...

CanadaH1N1 Vaccination
I'm neutral about the whole thing and can't decide, but I just wanted to suggest ignoring the media. The media loves making people paranoid and upset. Otherwise, the news isn't as interesting. And please don't base your decision on what the president does or doesn't do (as someone mentioned)... *face palm*
It's better to base the decision on facts, but unfortunately true and complete facts are hard to come by. Everyone seems to have an agenda.

I personally just don't like that it's such a NEW vaccine... it would be nice for it to have been in the market a little longer, and had more time to discover it's true side effects. Also, I don't think I'm going to get it myself, but that's just because I've had to pump myself with so many fricken vaccines this year for the visa, that I don't really want another one. lol Also, I don't really get sick all that often, so I'm hoping my immune system is going to hold up. I am kind of a semi-germaphobe too, and will keep my little hand sanitizer handy... lol smile.gif

I guess if I were you I'd base my decision on my son. His reactions to vaccines, and his immune system. How serious do his 2x a month illnesses get? If they're pretty mild, they'd probably help to build his immune system and he'd "probably" be fine, but who knows. I don't know how long the vaccine takes to become effective, but if it's not long, maybe you could wait until someone at the school has a confirmed case of H1N1, and get the vaccine afterwards? I dunno...

And on a side note... I love that everyone here is calling it H1N1 (except that fact sheet that was linked), instead of swine flu. smile.gif I HATE people calling it swine flu. It's not the damn pigs fault! lol

p.s.
Just having a quick glance at the other stuff in some vaccines that we are required to get.... unfortunately they all pretty much include pretty disgusting ingredients according to that website... Like, the Hep B one has 'Chinese hamster ovary cells'?!?!? hahah!! #######!?

wowwww..... So, I was busy today with Thanksgiving, and didn't get to say anything regarding the attack against me (I appreciate those of you who CAN recognize the -innocent- intentions of that costume). I'm sorry to bring it up in this thread again, but still wanted to at least have some response to it.

I just wanted to say that I'm NOT racist... if I was then I guess one of my good friends wouldn't be Mexican, and I wouldn't want to be moving to an area of the U.S. with a HUGE Mexican population... Sorry you were SO offended, but I do think that says more about YOU than it does about me, since you were so eager to press judgment. This wasn't a costume choice intended to cause any grief or anger or reaction from anyone. It was a fun, low-cost, choice for 3 friends to be able to do as a group before one of them (me) moves away. As far as I'm concerned, the costume we've chosen is a media CHARACTER... we're not even dressing up like the Three Amigos did exactly (as you mentioned, they dressed up like a mariachi band), but we're 3 friends... that's the point. But I guess the reason I CAN see that, is because I'm NOT doing it because of racism of any kind. We didn't go into the store with the intent to pick out a costume that was offensive... but were excited to find something we could do together, and for really cheap (sombrero, poncho, accessories... done).

I hope you're able to find some non-denominational, racially-neutral costume if you choose to dress up for Hallowe'en. I won't be changing my costume choice, because again, our intent is 100% NOT racist. Sorry you can't see it that way.

Well Halloween for me is actually a holiday so theres a few other thins I do instead of party, I usually attend what is called a dumb feast, which is where everyone is silent, you cannot talk from the time you step in the building until you leave. The tables are all set, food is served buffet style with little lables so you know whats in everything. One person is designated as the attender, they serve a plate to empty spots (1 per table) which is to represent people who have passed on. To each person, that empty spot represents someone else, and the name tag on the spot is simply marked Honored Guest.

I know a few people who I'd like to invite to a silent feast laughing.gif

I have a few questions for my interview... so I will be taking the Coach bus from Toronto to Montreal by myself. I know we are not allowed to bring bags or anything inside the Consulate. Is there somewhere where we can check them before we get in.... I am worried because I am leaving right after the interview and I do not know what to do with my stuff. Does anyone know how long we will be there until, like an approximate time? If it is not to late, I could go back to the hotel and get my stuff from the room if they let me have a late checkout. If not, I really don't know what to do?

Any comments/suggestions would be greatttt....

why don't you check out before heading to the consulate and leave your stuff in the hotel storage room (most hotels have some space where you can leave your belongings safely)...after the interview you could come back to the hotel and just pick it up...if you are the first one in line you should be done by 9.30am

Agreed, this is probably the best idea. Most hotels will be happy to hold on to your stuff for you if need be. You could always call your hotel ahead of time to make sure.

Absolutely they can. Actually, when I read reviews on VJ where people go in to AP and are told at the interview or they are given a slip requesting more information and they are devastated - I have to wonder if they have read any other reviews.

The interview is not a guarantee - it says so right in the letter and that is true, but people overlook that for some reason.

That said, AP for Canadians is so rare as to not be worth thinking about good.gif

Well, I honestly haven't read reviews, other than that's been posted recently in threads here. Every situation is different, so short of just knowing where to go and whatever, I know that what happens to one person isn't necessarily going to happen to me. So on that note, I guess I haven't heard of a 'normal' situation such as mine going to AP or an RFE there. I have seen people missing information, or being 'approved pending further info', like a missing medical, or missing police clearance etc... I also know that I can still be denied entry at POE despite having the visa, which of course gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies on the inside. wacko.gif

CanadaPolice Check
I'm just wondering if the consulate looks any further into your 'history' than what is on your police check. My police record is clear, and I haven't had a speeding ticket in probably 8 years. laughing.gif

However, I did have a rental company that took my ex-b/f and me through small claims court (note to self, NEVER co-sign with an idiot, cause they'll come back to bite you in the #### 5 yrs later). The thing is all settled now, however I went to get some documents to prove it and no one seems able to give me anything. Since it was the ex's fault HE paid what was owed, so the rental company claims they cant' give ME a receipt even though I was a co-defendant since I was a co-signer on the lease. They aren't pursuing the case, so there's nothing on file with the courts to say that it's taken care of. They're just waiting for the length of time to pass in order for it to be considered 'abandoned', so I don't have anything from them either. I also can't get in touch with the idiot ex to be able to get a copy of a receipt or something from him. This wasn't 'officially' a court case, and no conviction, arrest, or charges or anything like that were made. It was just some small thing where some judgment was passed and we (i.e. idiot ex) were ordered to pay the $, which he did.

I'm worried that without paperwork to prove that this is completed that it will cause some issues. However, like I said, nothing shows up on my police check in reference to it, so I don't even know how they'd find out. But ya know... last minute worries and all.

Anyone have any input? Should I be worried?

My dog once pooped on someone's lawn, and long story short I didn't have a bag with me (it was a short walk, i started out walking with my ex b/f, and he had the bags, but left and went home before me)... I didn't want to just leave it there... so I went up to the person's house and knocked. I SAW them come to the door, but they didn't answer, probably because it was after dark and they didn't recognize me (cause yeah, a 20-something female alone with a dog is SO threatening).... Anyways, I don't remember what happened afterwards, but I'm hoping I left the poop there to be honest... LOL

Speaking of washing hands... we have a sign in the bathroom at work that says 'what're you doing with your next 15 seconds... wash your hands!'.... it's posted right above the men's urinal... hahaha

And how would you know that it's above the men's urinal? rofl.gif

Because our office is ghetto enough to only have one bathroom for both.

KnJ is right Huggles. The dog will NOT grow out of it. It will only form bad habits that will become worse once it's really full grown and adult (which it's not, at a year). It needs training NOW. I had a dog growing up, and also had a dog for a couple years recently, and we took him to training class. It helped a LOT. I'd google some puppy training stuff and see what you can find. The importance is also consistency. He has to be treated the same by everyone. If ANYONE caves to his barking or whining, then training will be less effective. A jumping, biting, barking dog is not a good thing. It won't behave without knowing what good behaviour actually is, so he has to be shown. It's always about rewarding good behaviour, and ignoring bad. Don't give him extra attention when he's whining or barking, because in his mind that means he wins. Reward him when he's calm and quiet, and minding his own business... and also don't let him get bored, if you can help it. lol

I hate how much the halls in this apartment echo.
All I can hear right now is someone very, very loudly vomiting.
It's so gross I feel like throwing up myself.

I had to put my earbuds in so I could stop listening to it dry.gif
