I was in at the local Shoppers Drug Mart that has a post office in it. They carried the correct size.

That's where I checked as well.

Oh well. I think it's been established that the one that says 'Pack 390 x 295 mm' on the back will suffice! *crosses fingers*

k, I'm super frustrated. I too only got the 390 x 295 size. I don't have time during the day (I work during business hours) to run around from post to post to find one with the 'actual' size they require. But, like others posted, I measured it, and had them measure it at the post office, and it IS 12x15 (slightly over), so it should be fine, yes? I know someone mentioned they brought one like this to their interview and it was fine. Just wanting to make sure.

Mine also has the ski jumper on it laughing.gif (p.s. the Men's Aerials World Cup team is kinda hot.. no?) tongue.gif

314mm x 394mm = 12.36" x 15.5".

I don't understand why they were so specific with putting both millimeter and inch measurements if they weren't concise equivalents.

I do recall someone saying that they got away with that size. Whether that was discretion used or a general rule that they accept it... don't know. But someone else did definitely get away with it.

Also, I folded mine. Hoping that's acceptable, but there was no way I was going to stand outside of the consulate for however many hours holding a massive sized envelope. I'm assuming they fold the damn thing too... so.... whistling.gif

lol
well, it doesn't say 'do not fold', so i'm sure that's ok. I went to two post offices, and couldn't find one bigger than what I got, so poop on them. laughing.gif

In purchasing Xpresspost mailers at Canada Post, please note the following:

? The mailer should be the 314 mm x 394 mm size (12 inches by 15 inches).
? For return addresses in Quebec and Ontario, you may use a ?Regional? Xpresspost mailer. All other addresses require a ?National? Xpresspost mailer.
? The Xpresspost envelope(s) must be prepaid. The price will vary according to the mailing destination. Be sure to mention your return address to Canada Post staff.
? Address the envelope(s) to an address inside Canada. We cannot send completed visas to addresses outside Canada, including the United States. You must use the visa to enter the United States from outside of the United States.
? Mark the mailing label ?signature required? to ensure that someone at the destination address has to sign for the envelope. This will ensure that your passport and visa, which are valuable documents, will not be left unattended.

From Montreal Supplement to interview letter

I will post this info on the Canada VJ wiki page

thanks for that info smile.gif The only thing that makes me hesitate slightly is that it's dated 2006. It's quite different than what is included in the interview letters now. but that info should not have changed. That will help a lot!

This is a bit confusing. Only because technically they're mailing it out of province, so shouldn't it be the national mailer? lol Or, by 'national' do they mean 'international'? huh.gif

We also have to pick up the little slip that goes with it then, that we fill out with the address and what not? Do we fill out ANY of it, or just give it to the consulate to handle?

HER: He wants to know how you're doing...

HER: He says that's good...

and just continue with it for as long as possible....

Not sure about the Scotiabank thing, but they certainly do accept the money right at the Consulate on the day of your interview (and as far as I know, this is a must), in either USD or the Canadian equiv.

I think we're going to be sticking to ourselves for the most part. Although I'd love to kick back with my VJ friends, I know Ben's really looking forward to our little weekend away (our first, really).

We just don't have the money for another night and more meals out etc... but yeah... a weekend to ourselves will be really nice! smile.gif Especially if we are approved and can celebrate and de-stress and make plans. We didn't want to spend the money either and so we only stayed for one night. We don't regret it. You can always walk around the night before and see what you want to see. We did that and still had time to swim in the hotel pool, go out for dinner and then walk around a bit after the interview in the morning. You'll have more time than you think!

What time did you get into town the night before? We have an 8-9 hr drive so probably won't get there til 5ish in the evening.

I'm 20, and Ben's 23.

I certainly don't believe we're too young - I know many folks who got married at our age (excluding necessity). I just don't know how it will be perceived there and wanted to make it clear to our interviewer that we're handling this all as anyone would, regardless of age, with all bases prepared.

I'd like to think that from the 13-27th, you'd have enough time to get the visa! I would 'hope' that Montreal would send it out by then.. and Black Friday/Thanksgiving makes no difference on Canada Post's schedule. Might make flying an interesting experience around that time though.
