CanadaCanada birth cert. HELP!!
If he has applied for one before, he should indicate that he needs to replace it. It will cost him more but I'm fairly certain he can get another certified copy.

I work for a municipality and I would suggest to you that you tell him to go to the municipal office where he lives and speak to a division registrar. They have direct lines to the Office of the Registrar General and should be able to get him an answer as to why he can't have another certified copy.

If that doesn't work, send me a message and I'll call to get you an answer.

CanadaFIL passes quietly and peace rains down
"PS One does not get over things like this...and do not think you ever have to."

I have lost both my mother and my father. It will be 10 years in January for my mom and with this upcoming Mother's Day - I feel the loss even more. My dad has been gone for 6 years and on his special days, I miss him.

I still shed tears when certain days come along; when I think of good memories; and when I think of where my life is headed without them here to celebrate it with me. They are always with me - memories and in my heart.

I know my future hubby thinks of his parents often too. He has been on his own since the tender age of 14.

We all deal with these things differently. For myself, I know that if I were doing something wrong my mother would be letting me know, as would my dad. They gave me my life and guided me through it while they were here. Even though they are not physically here, they still find a way to guide me on my life's journey until we can be together again.

Spirit - you have such a gentle heart and wonderful outlook. You and yours will go where the Spirit takes you. We are never alone.

CanadaFIL passes quietly and peace rains down
Sending you hugs.

It's such a wonderful feeling to have shared in someone's last hours. When that peace surrounds not only them but you as well, it truly is a gift. The gift of knowing that they are at peace and without pain. The gift of knowing they have left and gone to the next level of their life. The gift of being able to smile at the memories you have and share those memories with others around you.

As you travel these next few days, the steps you take will be with God by your family's side - guiding you. May His presence comfort you and your family over time as you encounter special days and occasions.

CanadaVISA in Hand
Thanks so much. The first part of our journey is almost complete....then it will be back into paperwork to get the next leg done.

Just out of curiousity, if I hadn't asked for my VISA to be processed say until October, would there have been an issue cause of the PET EXP date?

5 weeks from today, I'll be home kicking.gif

CanadaVISA in Hand
Well...it's here, sitting in the Xpresspost envelope beside me. kicking.gif

I'm ready to go as soon as we have our church blessing at the end of June. The Uhaul is booked; most everything is packed and labelled (thanks to all those who have gone ahead); and I have my VISA. kicking.gif

Just a quick question though. I look at my VISA and it has the PETN # on it; then it has PET EXP: June 3, 2008; PETR name and my A#.

What does the PET EXP mean? helpsmilie.gif

Thanks,

CanadaI don't know how I'll last...
Welcome to VJ Sapphire....I can tell you this process is a good patience builder. I've been patiently waiting since April 2007 when we started the process and soon - June 29 or 30 - I'll be headed home with my love to Chicago.

These folks are wonderful. They pick you up when you are down and share a laugh or two when needed. I do love my fellow Canucks !!!

CanadaWhat this site has taught me...
Welcome to VJ.

Since I've been here, I've discovered that there will now be 3 Canadians living in the Chicago area. I, myself, will be in Palatine in just a few weeks. I'm so excited and can hardly wait.

Keep in touch. Maybe we'll all get together to celebrate some of "our" holidays.

CanadaWhere did you keep your bags when going for your interview in Montreal
I stayed at La Tour Centreville. They have a room where they lock your bags up until you return from the interview. Otherwise, I have no clue.

CanadaDon't do what I did.
I've already notified my electric provider, my internet provider to stop bills as of June 30. I'm calling Revenue Canada in regards to my CTB and give them my new address. OMERS have been notified of the changes as of today.

I hadn't thought of notifying MTO for any thing. They'll get my plates back as soon as I get my IL plates.

I need to notify MOH. I'll send them a letter tomorrow requesting they cancel my health card sad.gif

CanadaI am sick...
Hi Karen

You have an ex like mine. I have only ever once got a letter of permission from him to take our daughter to the States. I was able to get her passport without anything from him but that could be due to the fact that I have sole custody. I have been back and forth into the states with no issues at all. I drive all the time tooo. I always have my custody order with me and there is nothing in it to state that I cannot travel with her. As well, my daughter is now 14 and speaks for herself a lot of the time.

Not sure if this is helping or not but I do know where you are coming from. I hope things work out for you both.

CanadaIf you only knew then, what you know now...
Looking at things now - seeing as I haven't moved yet - I think I would have had my visa finished after my interview and moved then. Started the AOS/EAD/AP process in the hopes that the AP would have been approved in time for us to return to Canada for my daughter's graduation and our church wedding.

Now, I have to face all my family and friends to say farewell to them. We all know that we'll be back for holidays etc, but just thinking about saying farewell makes me crying.gif . These people have been my whole life for all my life. It's time for change but change is sometimes painful.

We did the K-1 route and we survived it just like many of you have survived your journeys.

Hopefully, we are all very happy with where we are now.
BH45FemaleCanada2008-06-17 16:05:00
CanadaMay I have your attention, please!
Congrats my friend. Yesterday was the beginning of a lifetime of love, happiness and joy.

May God continue to shine His many blessings on you and yours.
BH45FemaleCanada2008-06-23 11:41:00
CanadaHow long have you and your loved one been separated?
We all handle our separations uniquely. For Larry and I, we have never gone more than 24 hrs without chatting online or on the phone. Even when I had my surgery at the end of April, we talked online that night for only a few minutes, but those few minutes were precious to us.

We were solid in our friendship before we took it to the next level. Now our love is just as strong. The real challenge will be actually living together.... tongue.gif . That challenge will begin in 13 days kicking.gif
BH45FemaleCanada2008-06-17 15:50:00
CanadaHow long have you and your loved one been separated?
Well....it's been since March 23 for us. And prior to that it had been a year. He will be here in 9 days for my daughter's grade 8 graduation and our church wedding on the 28th. Then we are headed home on the 29th. kicking.gif

It's been 14 months since we started our journey and it's almost over. At least the me getting to the US part anyway.

CanadaQuestion about entering the US...Please help!
Well, today marks 1 week from your interview. I hope your visa arrived. If it hasn't, I hope you were able to change your flight to another weekend or possibly to a date that you can actually move home.

Good for you Sprailenes!!!! I hope your interview went well this afternoon. Positive vibes sent your way.

CanadaIma quit my job.
Sprailene....I quit my first job after working for them for 28 years. The multitude of emotions that washed over me was unbelievable.

I don't have a job to go to because of the move. So I'm thankful for EI following me to the US cause otherwise things may be tight.

It's tough when your brain and conscience kick in. I think you are wise in seeking other employment before leaving your current job. Just make sure that your safety is #1.

As soon as we have my computer and things set up, I'll be back to post a review. Just wanted to let folks know that when I was in speaking with the border guards, they stamped my I-94 Employment Unauthorized. Is that normal?
