K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsProcessing Order?

I'm sure this has been discussed but I can't seem to find a posting on it. Why are some NOA2's happening for people who filed in December when people who filed before are not there yet? I filed in November. Why is it out of order?

Thanks.

There seems no rhyme or reason to why some get approved before others,

Unfortunately I second this. Get used to it because it happens with AOS and EAD as well. You will get there, just keep the faith and hang on. good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow long should I wait for NOA1??
Congrats on filing your paperwork. In order to help out with any questions you will have during this process it is always helpful if you fill in your timeline otherwise people have to ask for details in order to best help you out. The notice your fiancee rec'd should say what kind of notice it is, likely the NOA1(I think is says I-797C). It is a process and if you search in the timelines for the country you live in that might give you an idea of how long the process is taking. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDo you need a valid passport for ROC?

Hi everyone, I'm back from the dead with a question.

I'm doing ROC on my two-year green card in October, and my Canadian passport expired last spring. Do I need a valid passport to file ROC? I looked at the ROC guide and it seems I don't, but I just want to be sure. I'm going to renew my passport before next spring, but if I could put it off till after ROC that would be nice since the renewal fee for the passport is quite hefty.

Thanks in advance.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAffidavits REQUIRED or optional?

Hello,

I'm getting ready for ROC on my green card which I received through a K1 visa, and the instructions for the I-751 seem to require at least two affidavits, but on the guide for ROC here it says they are optional. I have plenty of other evidence (lease, joint bank accounts, taxes, etc.); are the affidavits required? I can get them if need be, but if they're not necessary it's one less thing to worry about. I know it's best to err on the side of caution, though.

Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember filers....
Congratulations David and Mae :)

I emailed Montreal on July 24, then decided to just call them on the 25th, while Jim was here.
The very NICE lady on the phone told me, August or September, but nothing else. I checked my email before we left to go spend a couple days in the States before he went home and got, it will be at LEAST 6 months. (from the NASTY lady :crying: )

When I came home, the Canadian forum was reassuring me I'm next in line on VJ for my interview, and that the email really meant from the time I filed... I'm going to try calling again later in the week.

Is there anyone here who hasn't heard anything about an interview yet, besides me?

Shannon, I'm very sorry to hear about all the bull, um....yeah. I hope everything works out.

Well still nothing here. I'm not the only one waiting, there are a bunch of us waiting on the Montreal consulate, looking like another couple months still for an interview.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhy so long for NOA1?
We sent our packet in January and still haven't had confirmation, and kept being told to wait wait wait. It's really frustrating, and we're planning on sending in another packet with a cheque instead of a money order this time so that we can at least prove to ourselves that they at least HAVE the darn thing... We're also using the California service center.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving out of state before biometrics appointment

I did end up calling the number on the letter, but my receipt number was not in their system, so I was unable to get what I wanted from it, so today I called USCIS directly, and asked them if I can change the address to a PO box, as suggested above, and the answer was yes!  So that's what I'm gonna do, just change to a PO box, and send the letter saying what my new zip code is going to be, and ask them to reschedule it there!

Thanks Dave&Roza for the solution!

Also shout out to Brittney from USCIS for being so super helpful!  (and also for mentioning NOT to just show up without an appointment somewhere, so that 4 hour there an 4 hour back trip is definitely out!)

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving out of state before biometrics appointment

Would the new location take the papers for the old location?  Cause that would definitely work, it's only an hour from where we'll be living.    Option 3 I'm really hoping to avoid, as it will cost us five day's hotel and airfare for two that I'd otherwise not have to spend.  Option 4 is what I want to do, but I don't have an address to change it to yet, just really really bad timing... Can you use a PO box as an address for USCIS?  It's a very good option so we don't miss any of our mail if they let us!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving out of state before biometrics appointment

St Louis is the office.  I don't know what documentation I can have for moving, other than a reservation I printed from Uhaul for a trailer... Not sure that's gonna be good enough.  I'm guessing I'm just going to have to postpone it, then change the address once I have one, and ask them to change the appointment to somewhere closer...  And hope it doesn't screw things up for us.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving out of state before biometrics appointment

Ugh, it's four hours away though!  That's a lot of driving just to hope they'll take us, if they didn't, we'd still be stuck.  Any suggestions that don't mean 8 hours of driving on a just in case?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving out of state before biometrics appointment

Hi, I applied for and got my conditional residency extended for a year while we wait on word about ROC... but my husband got a job across the country, which starts on June 2.  My son and I have a biometrics appointment here on June 3, which I know I can reschedule, but can I ask them to reschedule it to another state?

I don't have an address there yet, we'll probably live in temporary housing while we find something, so I really don't have an address to give to USCIS...  I'm kinda lost here on what to do next, staying here and joining him after isn't an option, as we don't have transportation to get anywhere without him, and we don't want to jeopardize his job by having him start later.

Can anyone point me in the direction I need to go?  Can you ask for an address change without knowing the address you're going to be living in?

Philippinesdental work
Back to the topic of expensive dental work... While we in Canada do have free health care, we don't have free dental work, those of us without supplemental care often don't get much care at all. I know I spend a fortune just getting cleanings done, braces and cosmetic surgery would be out of the question! I'm curious as to how much more or less expensive it is in the US, as the quoted implant cost of about 4000$ seems about spot on. Anyone in the know what the average costs of cleanings and xrays and fillings??

I know my son needed a tooth capped and it cost me roughly around the same amount here several years ago, so some kind of plan is something I'm definitely looking at.

Funny how so many American dentists practice in Mexico and Costa Rica, I know the costs of implant surgery there are quite a bit less, a friend of mine went to Mexico for a week and had 6 implants at a fraction of the cost they would have here. Same procedure and US trained dentist, he practices in the US, Mexico and Costa Rica, different times of the year... I'd bet all his patients only see him in the US for regular cleanings and follow him for surgeries!
