CanadaQuestion to Canucks about EAD?
I thought district offices processed standalone EADs and not the service centres?

CanadaAverage days for GETTING NEW CANADIAN passport
There are a couple of recent threads here about renewing passports. It seems to be taking less than 2 weeks currently, but I wouldn't hedge your bets on it. Only because it is the Canadian government you're dealing with, and anything could happen wink.gif

Plus, they reject probably 80% of photos according to one website I looked at, so don't make travel arrangements until you actually have your passport in your hot little hands!

I usually have to point out that Toronto is further south than probably 8 or 9 mid-west and western States, plus 3 or so eastern States, and that yes, we have summer, sometimes quite hot, and no, just because I'm Canadian doesn't mean I like the cold tongue.gif After a few years, it gets kinda old yanno? wacko.gif

Actually, the "bodies covered in ash" are casts. When the site was discovered, they had to pour stuff into the holes that were left when the people disintigrated under the ash.

QUOTE
The archaeologists excavating the site found the remains of many people in the last position they were in when the ash and gas fell over Pompeii. They filled the place where the body was with plaster in order to get a perfect match for the body position and the facial expression. It is gruesome but an important reminder of the power of nature and the suffering of the Pompeii citizens.

I'm a history nerd too. biggrin.gif

Pompeii is definitely on my list of stuff to see before I die. Hopefully before Vesuvius does it again! ohmy.gif

It sure is! It's about 1500 years old, and has a canopy that covers about 17,000 square feet! It's freakin' HUGE! And I'm very very sorry I couldn't get up close and hug it and talk to it. Imagine the stories it could tell if it could talk!

That's right! I'd really like to go back but I'm kind of hesitant to. I'm a big suck when I'm sick. blush.gif

The first time I went to Denver, I got altitude sickness as well. Nausea, nose bleed, headache, the works. Not to mention drunk on 2 glasses of wine, which NEVER happens!

The next few trips though I was fine, it barely affected me at all. (I used to work for a company hq'd in Denver) and altitude doesn't seem to bother me much anymore. Just be sure to drink lots and lots of water all day long.

And speaking of closed gates, when we went to Charleston a few weeks ago, we also went to see the Angel Oak tree. Evidently it doesn't open until 1pm on Sundays, and we had to get back to spring the dogs from their border. I took about a hundred photos though thru the chain link fence!

Which site, as some I have seen are very expensive for Chocolate bars or at least just expensive enough that I won't pay it. Perhaps that is the good thing lol.

We went to Walgreen's today, they had ketchup chips and shreddies - I don't generally eat either of those things, but good to see anyway!

ohmy.gif Get outta town! *scratches Shreddies from shopping list*

Just so you know krikit, it was this Walgreens - just in case you don't find them at your local one - they are open 24 hours, so say at 3 a.m. you get a hankering for some shreddies, you can just drive over here:

1201 International Pkwy S, Lake Mary

I just tried about 6 or so Walgreens from Leesburg to New Smyrna to Orlando and didn't find the stupid ketchup chips at all...

Do you have any Dollar Tree store's in the area. They sell Herr's brand Ketchup chips that are really good. The only place we have found them is at the Dollar Tree though.

How about Bran Flakes (in Canada it is Quaker product) for making bran muffins. Finally found 1 kind at Harris Teeter but it has to be refrigerated as soon as opened and it is in a jar. And how about Crunchie chocolate bars. I love choc bars but not as much here as at home since most of them here are made with Hershey's chocolate. I recently had someone get me a few choc bars from one of the bases here as they carry a lot of British products, so anyone who has access to a base might find some of these products.

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 package onion soup mix

mix all together and pur over about 2 pounds of chicken parts...

I love Chicken Hurry. Tonight is going to be a roast cooked in the rotissirie and rice I think, perhaps some stir fry veggies.

Canada10 months to citizenship. I am going to do it.
I was not going to take out citizenship when I started the process but I want the freedom to cross the border and not have to worry about getting back across.

And of course I want to vote. I too think that one should be an active participant in the country they live in.

I will ALWAYS be Canadian at heart, nothing will ever change that. :D (L)
