CanadaAOS'rs...
Yay, I can finally check my case status online, almost a month after filing! Although when i logged in it says that the case has been transferred to the CSC. Is this good or bad? Anyone have any experience with this?

I still can't track my case status on the USCIS website. I already got the receipt notice dated august 18th. Has anyone else had that before?

CanadaAOS'rs...

It stands for Application Support Center..for biometric appointments

Here is the locater to find the nearest ASC in your area:
https://egov.uscis.g...office_type=ASC
and for AOS interviews in your area:
https://egov.uscis.g....office_type=LO

:) Did you try typing in your zip code?? I put in our zip code for where we live and it told me which one we would be going to outta the many in Texas. Not sure if it will work for NC tho..

Thanks! It did work for NC it looks like the closest one is at least 3 hours away. There were only 4 posted for NC and two of them were not even in NC!.

Well my fingers are crossed that we dont get an interview.

CanadaAOS'rs...
add me to the list of people waiting. I'm really hoping that the office in Raleigh does interviews if we have one. charlotte, nc is the only other option and that is really far away. What does ASC stand for again?

CanadaJust Filed i-129F
Thanks so much. Its just so stressful..and the more i read the more i get stressed. ive kinda started wedding planning went to the bridal show in Pittsburgh last month and got a few ideas but without being able to set anything in stone for dates/seasons very difficult and thats depressing..

Obviously ill keep working and saving. I may look more into writing my PA nursing exams now or at least start studying..

Im just depressed as hes really busy with playoffs so I cant see him regularily right now..We usually try to spend a couple weekends or couple groups of a few days together but now its impossible almost..Its also hard on the kids..i have 2 a 5yr old girl and 9 yr old son who want to move tomorrow..They dont get why we cant..Its probably harder on the kids then me..I guess Im lucky they have bonded so well with him.

I see a lot of shortforms here i dont get like NOAs etc..Is there a cheat sheet page?

Anyways thanks so much..any other thoughts advise coping strategies would be great....

Welcome - you can do your self a favour by ensuring that you have documents ready for future steps. Long birth certificates, divorce decrees from former marriages (if applicable). The Cdn citizen can ensure their immunizations (http://www.cdc.gov/v...edule.htm#print ) are up to date long before the medical (so many people scrambled at the last minute...why bother!)

Here is 1 of the Panel physicians who do them http://www.panelphysicians.com/ ...you can't the medical done yet, but get ready for it by reading ahead.

Inky's so right about saving $$$....many folks get through the K1 and think 'PHEW!' but the very next step once you've married costs $1010.00 (called Adjustment of Status)...be ready for the next bills.

You can visit each other during the K1 period....you need to ensure you're bringing strong evidence of ties to back home (whether you're the US or the Cdn) so the border guards can validate that you don't plan to sneak in :)

PS - PLAN THE WEDDING!!!! You may not know the date but you can plan a lot!

CanadaCanadian ?s re Medicals/Interview
Thanks guys its just all so overwhelming right now. Its nice to not have any expensive surprises etc. The fact the kids come with me to the interview was kind of a shock. Montreal is only 3-4 hours away but who knows what my 4 yr old will say..i can see a serious toysrus trip after for best behaviour..and ill def see if my fiance can join us.

its the medicals x3 but the $50 mail fee and i guess they wont mail all 3 for 50..lol that gets me...

and i got passport photos for the g-325 done so can i use the extra for theset of 3 ill need or do they all have to match? the place today i asked about the 3 and they only sell in 2s so thats 28 x3 there..lol the little stuff is annoying..

what do they do at the medical? how invasive is it? i hate drs..

thanks so much guys..im sure ill have alot of ?s later on...like off the top of my head sons guinea pig wont be coming will he? :)

CanadaCanadian ?s re Medicals/Interview
Thanks Guys just trying to figure everything out and plan in advance. and budget..

Obviously there is the inital fee when you do the i-129 $400+ and the medicals appear to be around $300 each (so about 1000 there) and i think theres a big fee with the adjustment of status around 1000? (is that each or total)

Where else can we expect hundreds of dollars?

Im kinda bummed my wedding budget will be minimal after the immigration bills..lol can we register there? haha

CanadaCanadian ?s re Medicals/Interview
So still new still trying to figure everything out, working on the first package with Fiance in PA..so looking ahead..

Interview will be in Montreal correct? and the medicals you do are a couple weeks in advance?

Will my children be required to have medicals? (5 and 9) attend the interviews? will my fiance attend the interview?

Much Thanks
Tammy

Canadacanadian credit score in us ??
even small companies *can* check, they just don't do it because they figure its all different now becuse its a different country. All they need to do to check Canadian credit bureaus is put a .ca at the end of the web address instead of .com tongue.gif

Canadacanadian credit score in us ??
I think you actually get a better credit score in the US if you keep a balance on your credit cards, rather than pay the full thing every month. I could be wrong, but I think they prefer you actually use your credit cards for credit, if you follow...
RebaFemale02007-11-13 07:32:00
Canadacanadian credit score in us ??
You sure could. The penalities would be the same as if you were still a resident of Canada. Interest would continue to build up, and eventually your account would be sent to a credit collections agency.

Call the credit card company and make arrangements for payments. Just because it is not "easy" )ie: most of them are just too lazy) for a US credit company to look up doesn't mean that all of them won't. Your bad credit in Canada can still haunt you in the US. And if you ever decide to return to Canada to live, you'll be pretty much screwed if you leave that credit card un-paid.

There are instructions on their website how to transfer it.

Canadacanadian credit score in us ??
If you have a credit card that has companies in both countries (such as American Express, MBNA, RBC etc) then you may be able to exchange your Canadian credit card for a US dollar credit card. American Express has information about how to do that on their website.

When I moved I had an MBNA Canada mastercard, and when I finally got a job here in the US I mailed them an application for an MBNA America card (now Bank of America) with a photocopy of my latest statement from MBNA Canada and a letter explaining my credit in good standing with their company. They sent me a US dollar mastercard.

Just leave it as is, until you need a new one. And remember any time you fly anywhere make your reservations in your maiden name, because they can't let you on the plane if your passport name doesn't match the name on your ticket.

Lucky! But I wonder what is the difference between a children's and adult passport? Does it actually state somewhere on the ID that it is adult or child? And if she is a child, with an adult passport, will this give her a problem when she tries to cross the border?

I've never seen a child's passport, so have no clue.

you need to send them the "official" copy that you rec'd from the registrar. They'll send it back to you with your new passport.

You can always get extra copies of your marriage certificate from the county if you need them. They're usually pretty cheap.

I did not courier it. I just put it in a regular envelope.

I didn't want to chance it taking the usual 2 weeks to get there or getting lost in the mail unfortunately. I'm determined to get home for Canada Day, and didn't want to mess that up!

Hi,
Is there a way to maintain your Cdn Passport when you to the US do you need to Inform passport Canada, I moved here in 2006 and have since then have not contacted since then is there a procedure on this?

Not sure what you're asking here really. Maintain your Canadian passport when you do what in the US exactly?

If you just need to renew your existing Canadian passport, yes, there is a procedure see the Passport Canada website for info and forms
http://www.passport....x...=eng&id=501

If you're asking whether or not you can keep your Canadian passport when/if you get a US one eventually, yes, you just need to keep renewing it as anyone else would. Canada allows you to have dual or multiple nationalities.

How'd you manage to pay only $1 to courier it to Gatineau? Did you play your retired military card er sumthin? tongue.gif $30 was the cheapest I could get. Even USPS would have cost more for 1 day service.

You can request that they send your old passport back to you, tell them you need it for the copy of the visa in it, and they *should* also return originals of your ID as well.

CanadaWedding Details
For the invitiations that you are sending FROM the US TO Canada, you *have* to use USPS stamps.

For the returns that will be coming FROM Canada TO the US, you *have* to use Canadian stamps.

The stamp that will be used will depend on the origins of where it will be mailed from. You cannot use a Canada Post stamp if the origin is the US.

You can purchase Canada Post stamps on-line from their website, but I'm not sure if they'll send them to you in the US. http://www.canadapos.../Personal/Shop/ If not, you can have your Canadian family purchase them for you, and then mail them to you in the US.
