Wow, 6 hour layover? I think the longest layover I've ever had was like 3-4 hours. You can take a nap then, just make sure you don't miss your next flight :P

I've done a 6 hour layover before... it sucks, but I have good incentive to do it, haha. I missed my flight out of Toronto one morning because I decided to sleep for a couple hours. Panic attack when I woke up 10 minutes before my flight is taking off? Absolutely.

I'd suggest getting to the airport at 4am at the latest since you have to get through customs, which I don't know how busy it is at that airport, or at that time. I'm guessing you won't be getting much sleep Posted Image You can cuddle with your husband that night though ;)

Yeah, it's going to be an early morning for sure. Probably won't bother sleeping, save it for the flight. I have a 6 hour layover in San Francisco :crying:

The guy you got sounds as laid back as the girl I got. She was very down to earth. And after asking how I met my husband and I responded through World of Warcraft, she said that perhaps she should look online for a guy there as it seems that's how everyone is doing it these days. I was like wow, I couldn't believe she said that. Seriously, with her attitude and the way she was dressed, I thought she was going around barefoot, like without a care in the world, you know? It seemed like we were just two friends that hadn't seen each other in years, catching up. It definitely helped with my nerves!

I figured I'd be talking to some stone-faced high and tight ex-marine officer, haha. Nope! They're with the Dept. of State, which I didn't know, so they dress in business casual and chat with you. It's probably also a good way to interview people. You get a better feel for someone when they're relaxed.

When he asked what my job was (dog walking) we had a chat about it, haha. He said is from Seattle, and commented on how expensive having a walker is. Apparently he's had the same lady walking his for 11 years :| Totally personable guy, but still professional and to the point. Good luck :) You'll be great :)

Wow Posted Image You think the guy would have left you alone after you said no... There's some crazy people out there. I'll have to be careful when I'm in Canada in June.

I've always found the "unstable" folks in Quebec to be a lot more out there than in Toronto. I've never been bothered by a homeless person here, but each time I've been in Quebec (either MTL or QC) something always goes down, haha.

I'm going to go read that review now - can't wait! Really want to see why nerve wracking though :( Glad you left on cloud 9! :) The medical went well, they sent me home with a piece of paper they should have kept though and had to call me back (thankfully I'm about 10 mins walk away lol). They haven't called me back yet so I'm going to guess all is well. Tomorrow at noon the results will be in my hand! Mini vacation has been awesome - saw the art gallery today (my friend works there so got in free yay!), and tomorrow I'm meeting her and we're going to St Lawrence market. Also cooked my brains out...lol. Going home Saturday...almost don't want to LOL!

I was only anxious for the most obvious reasons. All the what ifs, "did I forget anything?", etc. Everything went smoothly though and the staff were great. VJ prep definitely helped though.

Glad you're having fun :) You'll love St. Lawrence! There's a guy who sells amazing honey as well. I hope he's still there. Also lots of knick knacks to throw money at as well :P

Posted Image And how did that happen?

My mom and I were walking along, I lit up a cigarette and he saw as I put the pack back in my pocket. A towering man with a yellowing beard, long fingernails, and half a sandwich hanging out of his mouth. He asked me for a smoke, I told him I was on my last one (a very common lie that most homeless folks will just accept and move on.) He copped an attitude and said "Why would you put an empty pack back in your pocket?" - at this point he's following us, trying to keep pace beside me. I told him "Because I'm not going to throw it on the ground." He keeps b*tching, when my mom and I duck into Subway to grab a drink. He's still waiting outside. We leave and walk past him and he says to me "There's a garbage right here for you" I replied very sarcastically, "Oh gee, thanks for letting me know." He has a tantrum and tells me how "selfish" I am. I turned around and told him he was the selfish one for expecting me to give him something when I don't have to especially after being such a #######. He then f*cked off.

Congrats on finishing school - that's awesome! And if you can do this process, the road test for your license will be piece of cake. LOL...June 22 is a good goal - you have a countdown up yet? :)

It's not even the driving I'm worried about, it's the stupid work book I need to do. Essay? For driving school? I just spent 4 years with essays coming out of my ears :(! haha. I finished school back in December and I've been working full time since. I graduate June 18, so I plan on leaving June 22. No reptiles allowed into Hawaii, so my pythons have to find another home here :( As for driving school, I'll hopefully be finished my in car lessons soon enough to leave time for my road test + issuing of my card. I was there a few years ago, had a friend drag me all around Kensington village and the Beaches, and took me to Cervejaria for supper (yummy!). Winnipeg isn't nearly that well laid out - it's literally a mish-mash of small towns that grew together, and the roads do NOT make sense in some areas! I may google maps my way to Kensington Village though, and have me some fun (but something tells me I'm not that far from it lol). All checked in for my flight, all documents in my bag, all clothes and everything packed. I guess this is what they call the beginning of the end? :D

The beginning of a new beginning! Kensington is definitely walkable. You could really just walk straight west across College. It's tucked away behind China town (south west of Spadina @ College.) If you're a foodie, try and get to St. Lawrence Market. It was recently voted one of the best indoor markets in the world :D ... there's also a place in there with unbelievable fudge. Tip though, get there early; the place is jammed as the day wears on and it closes kind of early. I still have to pack

Oh the highway...LOL! We don't have exciting buses like that in Winterpeg! I think way back in the day we had streetcars, but not anymore. Yeah, I think she's getting me to stop at college because she wants to show me grocery stores, etc (I plan on cooking while in town, to repay her for the room/use of her only key :) ) Think I'll print out your directions though...and attach them to google maps (the written word is usually more useful than maps, but reference points are awesome). That's REALLY helpful - thanks! :D (I am such a hick, raised in a town of 400 people and moving to an even smaller area LOL...it's a wonder I can even navigate Winnipeg LOL)

Getting around Toronto can seem daunting at first, but it's super easy. All the roads in the downtown core are a grid, north, south, east, west so it makes logical sense when navigating :D Yonge and College is an interesting area, but if you have the time go exploring! After your medical you can check out the luxurious neighbourhood of Rosedale. It's across a bridge that goes north on Sherbourne - opposite direction of the radiology lab. It's funny because the south end of Sherbourne is all gray, cement and commercial... go north, and you're immediately into quiet tree lined streets and bajillion dollar, ancient houses. Toronto has lots of that contrast, haha.

1) awesome, thanks! Winnipeg can be a little...interesting, at some times of night or in some parts of town. Good to know Toronto is relatively safe, comparatively :)

2) my friend's on Jarvis St, about 10-15 mins walk from the doc's office (conveniently  ). She's telling me to take the 192 rocket bus to the subway, then take the bloor/danforth subway to yonge, then the yonge/university line to college. Then she'll meet me there and show me how to get to the doc's office on foot. Sound right?

Hm, Seiden's is literally a 10 second walk from Sherbourne station (which is one stop east of Yonge/Bloor.) From College though it isn't a long walk, maybe 20 minutes at a good pace. The most straightforward way to get to Seiden's from Yonge/College is to walk north on Yonge till you hit Bloor then swing a right - keeping on the south side - which takes you east. You can see Yonge/Bloor from outside Seiden's office; there's a huge CIBC tower at Y/B, you can use it as a landmark. Not very complicated :) You could always map it on google as well so you can see how it would look.

The 192 is correct for the bus. There are a zillion signs around the airport, so you won't get lost :P It's an exciting bus ride - you get to go on the high way!

ok, odd question. i land in toronto tomorrow at like 9:45. my friend says i should take ttc and she'll meet me downtown, from the airport (she's cleaning lol). My question - one, will I get mugged with my carry on bag and purse (in Winnipeg at that time of night it's a possibility), and two - which bus should I even take?!

1) 9:45 pm? You will not get mugged :P

2) TTC can be weird for a first timer. You can take a cab from the airport if you have a set destination. With TTC there's a shuttle from Pearson to Kipling station (last subway stop in the west end.) TTC fare is $3, exact change. You wouldn't need a transfer to show as proof of payment to go from the shuttle into Kipling's subway, but some stations do require it. From Kipling you'd go east to either St. George or Yonge/Bloor. If you're going downtown like Toronto core area, you'd go south on either of those lines to wherever you're meeting your friend. You can tell me where you're meeting her and I can tell you how to get there, OR TTC's website (http://www.ttc.ca/) has a trip planner.

hey uh... you guys wanna see.. my uh, bare chest? eh? ;)

Since they don't actually take the X-ray at the interview, it's okay to look at them. The purpose of the X-ray is to give it to your new doctor in the US in case you ever get sick or something and they need a reference. That's what I've heard anyways.

I remember Dr. Malcolm saying he used to work at a Radiology lab near where I live. So I assume the doc takes a look at it as well and gives his yay or nay.

Gervl can to tell me something about document describing current health thingy? Is it a Doctor's note that you have no deseases or any form?

It's only needed if you have some kind of long term health issue, like diabetes or depression. If you're healthy it is not needed.

I have a small perforation (hole) in my heart. It was found in 2005, and I just finished all my stress tests and such this past year. It's a very common heart defect. When you are in utero, this hole is open to allow blood to pass through your heart and bypass your lungs, as fetuses take oxygen from blood. It is naturally supposed to close by 2 years old, but mine didn't. For some people they cause problems (as bad as strokes), but for most they don't - my cardiologist told me 33% of people are walking around with it and will never know. It's actually quite rare that they are found.

Anyway, the letter is from my cardiologist to my GP with some of my test results, my current condition and his overall prognosis (a good one.) I figured I would bring it just in case.

- 3 passport photos [check]
- Immunization record [check]
- Documents describing current health condition and long term prognosis [check]
- Interview letter [check]
- $300 in cash [check :(]

Should I put my name and case number on the backs of my photos? (for the ones I submit at my interview as well?)

Am I missing anything?
