K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPPROVED ,CO didnt bother to look at our photos, evidences of ongoing relationship etc

Ok So our K1 and K2 visas were approved last 6/22 and were just asked the usual questions:

How did we meet?
how many times he visited,
if we had previous marriages, his job, duarations of his stays,.. mostly dates that im pretty sure were answered accurately.. he was just browsing through our docs most of the time during the interview that only lasted for like 6 minutes and said " ok i will approve your visa now and expect it in few days.. goodluck Lance!.." (my 3 year old son)

However i cant help but wonder why he didnt even bother to look at the photo album i really put so much effort in making LOL with all my creativity and even the folder which contains other relationship proof such as emails, plane tickets, hotel reciepts, skype screenshots, engagement ring reciept, money transfer reciepts etc..

Is this usual? if so how many days were you able to have the visa on hand after the interview

TIA <3

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 received...what to do next? No idea about NVC?
Sorry, I didn't ask if it would be Montreal you will be going to. That is the page link I sent. If it's Vancouver just go to the home page at that site and click Vancouver. The first link I sent takes you to the main page. If you copy and paste it to your browser it should work. Hope this helps! :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 received...what to do next? No idea about NVC?

I could not get the link to work. If you don't mind and when you have time, could you check it and send it to me again?

Also, what is a WAC number? Where could I find it?

Thank you!

I tried it and it works but I'll paste it here again, right from the website page you will want. You will find information on packet 3, 4, medical, etc.
http://montreal.usco...&document=index

The WAC number is on your NOA1 and Noa2, they will call it a case number when you call.

If you still have a problem with that link let me know.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 received...what to do next? No idea about NVC?

We received our NOA2 on July 11. There were barely any instructions on what to do next...just what to do if we need to change embassies. From reading the posts on here, it looks like the next step is to call the NVC. Is that right? What is the NVC's number and what exactly am I supposed to be asking them when I call? Our NOA2 doesn't say anything about the NVC though. It says that our petition was forwarded to the listed embassy, so could it possibly have skipped the NVC? I just really don't know what to do next and would really appreciate some help. What should we be doing after we get our NOA2? I would really hate to wait all this time and come all this way to just get messed up because of not knowing what to do next.

Thank you for any help you can give!!

I was told to wait 15 working days from the date on the NOA2 then call the NVC to ask if you have been assigned a case number for the consulate yet. I just got mine and my date was June 20th so they aren't moving as quickly lately for some reason. The number I was given by another VJ member (lifesaver that she is) is 1-603-334-0700. As soon as you get an operator they will ask you for your WAC number and will check if it's been received yet.

If it is they will ask you for your fiance's name and date of birth as well as your own, also will confirm their email address and ask if you want yours added to the file. (I had already put mine on the 129F but gave it them again). I was told the file will go to the Consulate in about 3 days. Wait that time then you can call 1-202-663-1225 to find out if it's logged in yet and they can also tell you if packet 3 has been sent out to you yet. Here is the website that will help you a lot with the next steps. http://montreal.usco...=immigrant_visa

I don't know if you can change which Consulate you deal it or not.. it's only Montreal or Vancouver for Canada. You can always ask when you call the NVC. Or maybe someone else here knows the answer to that.

Good luck!!!

Shirley Ann, the OP is an IR-1/CR-1 visa applicant. Most of what you linked doesn't apply. I already answered their question in the first response.

Oops.. sorry about that. It applies to K1, my mistake. It's good info to have but obviously not for this thread. :bonk: Delete it if you can. I think I'll let others be the helpers here.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresD230 form questions

I am trying to fill out this D230 which is causing me to wig out - are they really requesting EVERY time I have been to the US?? and dates? I have been every month since October AND my father lives there so I have been so many times in the past 20 years... there is no way I can come up with these dates

This information I have from others who dealt with the consulate in Montreal.. and also found in this link. http://travel.state....types_2994.html

Consulate reviews have confirmed that if they didn't have the DS230 Parts I and II they were asked to complete it there.

The link information about states in part....

Required Documentation

You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:

Two (2) Nonimmigrant Visa Applications, Form DS-156 (prepared in duplicate). NOTE: K-1/K-2 visa applicants should not fill in Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application
One (1) Nonimmigrant Fiancé(e) Visa Application, Form DS-156K
One (1) Application For Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Form DS-230, Part I (You are not required to complete Part II.)

K Visa applicants applying at U.S. Consulate General Montreal and U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez have different application form requirements. Review information on the U.S. Consulate General Montreal or U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez website to learn which forms you must complete.

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions)
Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor
Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for 6 months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)
Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)
Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)
Two (2) 2x2 photographs. See the required photo format explained in Photograph Requirements
Evidence of relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e)
Payment of fees, as explained below

As for the question about visits to the USA, I attached a note stating I live in a border City and as such have visited countless times in my life.. I also included the dates of visits over the past few years of any significance. ie.. visits specifically to see my fiance and vacations of a week or more and explained that day trips over the years were common. I was advised by another VJer who also experienced this and has succeeded in getting her visa that this was acceptable to the interviewer.

Good luck!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about Affidavit of Support
Quick question regarding affidavit of support:

My husband is a U.S. soldier and up until our marriage was receiving pay as a single person (duh). He receives increased pay now, but that just started this month. His past 3 tax returns will only reflect his former pay scale and I am concerned that this may require us to get a joint sponsor. His current pay level is more than sufficient to meet the 125% income requirement but that would not be reflected on a income tax statement until the next filing year. Should we be looking for a joint sponsor or is there some other way to document his ability to support me?

Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuick Question
At least I can take comfort knowing my simple multiplication skills are still intact :)

My confusion was whether he had to make 100% above the poverty line or not. $14,710 seems a little low to support two people.
MatsiepanFemaleCanada2012-01-17 16:21:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuick Question
I couldn't tell if $14,710 was the actual poverty line or if that was the min value needed. If it was the poverty line, then $29,420 would be 100% above the poverty line :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-3032 and DS-261 Question
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate the information you've given me! =) Take care.

- Michael

If they received the first DS-3032 and accepted it, then you're fine. Keep an eye on the payment portal and the IV bill should be invoiced soon.

As a Canadian, yes, you should have done the DS-261. It probably would have been accepted faster as it's done online. But NVC is still taking DS-3032 from countries eligible for online forms. But as you already sent in the DS-3032, and they received it, do not fill out the DS-261. One choice of agent form is enough.

Just make sure you fill out the DS-260 as that's mandatory.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-3032 and DS-261 Question
Hello Everyone,

I am Canadian and my wife is a US citizen. My wife sponsored me and is my petitioner, so I can gain residency in the US.

My wife was mailed form DS-3032. Being the applicant I filled it out and mailed it back, as I opted myself to be "choice of attorney". But, later I was mailed a package also with form DS-3032. My questions are:

1) I/we don't need to fill out the second DS-3032 correct? It is only for the choice of attorney for the applicant (myself)?
2) Being Canadian, should I have filled out (online) form DS-261 instead? If so, is it too late to fill it out because I already submitted DS-3032?

I e-mailed the NVC asking about the second DS-3032 form, not the DS-261 though. But, they simply responded saying they received the first one.

Thank you so much! =D

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 Question 35 Issue

Yes, they're still allowing the DS-3032 (over the online DS-261). But the DS-260 (online version of the DS-230) is REQUIRED. The DS-230 will not be accepted at NVC.

Just bring the copy of your DS-230 to the interview though as they're going to ask for it. Unless they've finally gotten used to the online system, but as this is dealing with the government, I highly doubt it Posted Image

Ahhhh, okay everything is starting to make sense now. =D Haha, very true about the online system and the government I would imagine. Thank you very much again.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 Question 35 Issue
Thank you both very much for the helpful replies. =D Very good suggestions.

I had the same problem as you as a Canadian. I had been visiting the US since I was a baby, never needed a visa (except for when I moved and lived in the US for 2 years), and couldn't possibly remember all the visits I had. What I would highly recommend doing is what I did. Write 'see additional sheet' on that question. Then, on an additional sheet, follow what I did here: https://docs.google....s/edit?hl=en_US

And by the way, as a Canadian, you should be filling out the DS-260, an online form. And on that form, you only need to list that last FIVE visits to the US (unless they've changed it since I filled it out last February). You should be bringing a DS-230 to the interview though, so this question might be about that point of the process. Hard to tell since your timeline hasn't been filled out.

@Saylin:

About the DS-260. I originally filled out a DS-3032, which they mailed me. They accepted it. So, I never filled out the DS-261 (I believe that is the online version of the DS-3032?). I thought I remembered reading that the DS-261 was a pre-requisite to the DS-260, but I definitely could be wrong.

UPDATE : Actually, I just logged into "Consular Electronic Application Center" and it indeed says to fill out DS-260 online (it is NOT grayed out or unlisted). So, I guess the DS-230 is not the way to go like you suggested. I suppose not filling out the DS-261 must have been okay? Especially since they did "snail-mail" me one in the first place, maybe they will accept that one by mail for a while longer or something.

Thank you again and you're right, I should fill out a time-line. I'm pretty new to the site so I never thought of it. =)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230 Question 35 Issue
Hello Everyone =)

I have a question about Form DS-230 regarding Question 35 "List dates of all previous visits to or residence in the United States. (If never, write "never") Give type of visa status, if known.
Give DHS "A" number if any."

I am Canadian and my Wife is American. I visit my wife in the US frequently (2 or sometimes 3 days a week). But, being Canadian I have never needed a "Visa" or had my passport stamped. The only time I had my passport stamped in the last, say, 6 years is when I traveled to Europe and had to fly back into the US. Never worked or been a student in the US either.

I have read on the wiki : "For Q.35: List dates of all previous visits in US. within past 10 years Must list all visits stamped on the passport, even those that lasted one or two days. Pay close attention to the most recent 3 years."

So my question is, would I write "Never" for this question? Do my social visits have to be listed? Thanks in advance! =D

I'm just North of Toronto, bummer we can't do the interview there instead of Montreal. I'm really not looking forward to that trip. Least there is a Dr in Toronto who does the medicals.....even though you have to be there at 7am! lol Where are you in Ontario?

Just outside of Windsor... So I get the four hour trip to Toronto for my medical, and the nine hour trip to Montreal! Not particularly looking forward to either of them..

But hey, at least hubby to be will be with me for Montreal. We're thinking about making a couple of days out of it. But that's quite the while away it seems..

Well....it sucks but it could be worse. I was reading about some people who were on the East coast....apparently there is only 3 Dr's in Canada. Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. I couldn't imagine having to make such a long trek twice or the stress of trying to do them both at the same time. I'm enough of a basket case.

Married yesterday and in New Orleans for the honeymoon!! Let me just say that it's as wonderful as I thought it would be, I have never been this happy! We sent the AOS package off this morning and have an INFOPASS appointment on Monday, November 30th to apply for expedited Advance Parole. I was just as anxious sending that package off as I was the first one!

Lars' son will be here with all of my family for Thanksgiving and we are excited about that too.

Interesting thing has happened to us though - after months and months of waiting and stressing and building up to THE moment, we were driving to NEw Orleans yesterday afternoon and we were exhausted! I told him I felt like a balloon that had all the air let out of it. The relief, the happiness and joy, and just the whole "it's finally done" -we were so tired!

Richard and Joanna, take care and let us know how things are going. Stephen and Elisha - still next Wednesday?

Everyone - hugs to all!

Thats awesome news Missy! Congratulations, I'm SO happy for you! Enjoy your honeymoon! *wink*

Update on me...just received packet 3 from Montreal. They screwed up and sent it to my old address AFTER they confirmed that they changed it. We had sent in paperwork on it as requested...called twice. Grrrrr! Anyways...finally got it and hope to get it all together and out tomorrow. Then its wait for an interview. Hopefully I luck out and get one quickly like the last bunch but Montreal is still claiming its a '4-6 month wait'.

Hope everyone is doing well! Congrats to all those who have their SO's here and all those who already ran out and tied the knot!
