Hello
Good morning!!
Where is everybody whistling.gif ??? It’s time to get up!

It's afternoon where I am Alex lol. Very quiet here, just checked the USCIS website, still no touches yet. ####### I was hoping to see things moving. Oh well, have to be more patient.

I too am obsessed with looking for touches. Praying today will be the day. I know approval is unlikely but a 'touch' I think would reassure me.

Still CSC doesn't open for 3 hours and 47 mins

Hey all smile.gif

Ana: Thanks...I know it's still a faster process than some have to go through, and I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that things will speed up a bit.
I am getting ready for my trip - 32 days biggrin.gif I'm trying to stash some money away so I can buy some things for the apartment when I'm down there smile.gif Work has gotten a bit busier and I have friends coming home for visits soon, so hopefully the next month will pass quickly. Bo is going to Minnisoda next week for a week of training for his promotion position, so a little less contact for a couple days, but the training will pass his time quickly as well smile.gif
How is your business trip going Ana?

Shiri: Where are you from? I wish I was able to be processed through Vancouver, but I'm on the East Coast, so Montreal it is...from what I've read on the forums here though, the people in Montreal are really great, so I don't think I'll be nervous at all going into my interview smile.gif

So I was thinking, we should do a random question every so often, to pass the time..so my question to you all is: What things will you miss about your home country after getting to the US?
My list is as follows:
Tim Horton's Coffee
Canadian Beer
Poutine!
Canadian Music & Maritime music - ie: drinking music tongue.gif
fresh atlantic salmon
being close to water (i'm gonna be in the middle of NC - 3 hr drive to the coast and right now I live on a river tongue.gif, grew up next to the Atlantic)

I'm sure there are a bunch more things, but those are the things that pop out.

<3 Jen

HI Jen,

I love your idea!!
What things will you miss about Australia after getting to the US?

Melzy - my Melannie misses cooking stuff. She's obsessed with the fact she can't finda copha????? and chocolate ripple biscuits.

My big tip is talc powder. I use the 'hot' wax on my underarms. I cleanse the area first, thoroughly dry and then lightly talc. This means the wax will stick to the hair and not your skin.

Apply wax, wait a minute or so and then peel off. Hair comes out skin stays on.

I don't dare discount your frustration, so please, respect mine. Dates moving backwards affect all of us.

I realise you are CR-1/IR-1 and in Sydney so there may be some difference but as far as K1 is concerned and in Melbourne

Once you see the doctor they will give you a referral to have the x-ray completed.

The police certificate is required at the interview take both the original and a copy hand both over and they will give back the originals once examined.

We hired a lawyer for piece of mind. One of us being more overwhelmed by the process and the paperwork etc than the other.

Having said that we only discovered visa journey after the process had begun and we 'might' have in hindsight gone it alone. There is amazing help in the guides. And the more time you spend on here the more you find others asking the same 'stupid' questions you would.

accelerated processing

Note in that link the refererence is to the I-129 not the I-129F. The difference being basically employment vs immigration.

QUOTE (TiRaMeELDeMBou @ Jul 8 2008, 10:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
hey all, im still waiting around for my NOA2 but i have a question, as i understand when my fiance receives her K-1 Visa it will be valid for a couple of months between 4-6.

i want her to come to new york, get married with me that week in city hall, then about 3 weeks later return home to Mexico. i will then wait 2 months and go to Mexico and get married with her only by church (traditional ceremony) can she then get on a plane and return with me home?? (Assuming she flys back while the visa is still valid on her passport)

i guess i could file the AOS before she goes back to Mexico so while were waiting around its processing. but i want to know if she can use the K-1 Visa to leave and enter the country or is it like a 1-time deal thing ?

Sorry No. She needs to enter, marry, then file including for AP which will then allow her to travel.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHiring an immigration attorney
QUOTE (Steve @ Jul 15 2008, 10:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If you're more comfortable going through this process with the help of an attorney you should do so (my fiance felt the same way and we did hire a lawyer). I know we could've done it without their help. All they do is fill out the forms for you and put all the supporting docs (that you have to compile anyway and provide the lawyer with) in order. We chose a law firm by its reputation and proximity since my fiance found it easier to just run by their offices to drop off docs instead of mailing them. We are in the Atlanta area as well. PM me if you need more information.

Looking back at it, I wish we would've spent the money on something other than attorney fees.

I have had the same experience as above except that the lawyer we chose has offices in New York and California and we are from Michigan so proximity was not a deciding factor.

I researched the web for law firms. Them researched positive and negative experiences people had. The one we eventually chose had been through the process himself so to me I felt he might have empathy. I emailed the attorney then John did. Then John had several conversations / consultations with him before we started. (at no cost) I felt comfortable we could complete it ourselves but for peace of mind we choose a lawyer to assist. As it turns out the initial work was good. We have had struggles with regular communication with them but now like for everyone the process is a waiting game. Its all in the USCIS' hands.

Having said all that if we had discovered VJ before we began the process we may not have gone that route.

We hired a lawyer, it gave peace of mind to my Fiance but to be honest it has added time to our process.

If we had found VJ first I think he would have been far happier about us completing the paperwork ourselves.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBring with me copy of K1 documents to travel to US
Everyone advised me not to mention the K1 as it bears no relevance at this stage. In fact anecdotal evidence from others on the forum who have asked at POE have said the officers can not even see the K1 listed.

I did say I was going to visit my fiancé, just didn't mention the K1.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBring with me copy of K1 documents to travel to US
I travelled on VWP at Christmas with my K1 pending. Along with a copy of my itinerary showing my return flight, I took a copy of my lease and a letter from my employer.

I didn't mention the K1 as the question was not asked and was not relevant to my entry. (I felt) The officer processing my entry was a bit unsure of my entry, so I volunteered the employer letter and the lease, he asked to see the letter.

All else went smooth.

My letter from my employer included the date I was expected back at work and his full contact details if required for validation.

From every thread I've read here and on other forums the consensus appears to be definately at JFK only. For me it will be worth it should only add about USD$200 to my overall flight costs. And even at min wage it would be worth it.

What I said above is what it will have cost John and I total for K1. Remember I added in the flight costs, insurances and phone calls etc. Not just app fees, the medical etc.
