Can I just say I was very disappointed they did not ask to see any of my carefully gathered, prepared, itemised, organised, divided and documented evidence of relationship.

All that happened was just before I left the Interview guy took a sideways glance at my folder and smiled.

Well I spoke to the Federal Police and it was mailed Wednesday their time, but it should take about a week, 10 days at most. Once I have it, I call the courier to pick-up my passport and certificate and then it will be five days. So I am tentatively planning to fly out the first week of March.

Hold your breathe everyone and send up prayers, tomorrow is going to be a big one for me. Due to a mishap, I lost both my police checks, (lets just say stupidity / carelessness were involved) my Australian and UK. I reapplied 4 weeks ago but do not have a new Australian one yet, have received the UK one though.

The best I can hope for tomorrow is approved pending additional documentation. Its been an incredibly stressful and disappointing day today, I thought the Police Cert would be waiting in Coventry, trained in down from Edinburgh but no luck. Still not here yet. Then I went to the wrong hotel location thought I was in Islington but somehow had chosen the Chelsea one. If I say I am a foreigner is that enough of an excuse. Oh well.

Multiple police certificates are required when you have lived in other countries for longer than 6 months since you were 16?? Not sure about the age part.

For example for myself it means 1 x UK, and 1 x Australia.

Long story short.....

I need to get a joint sponsor, even though we have enough assets! The tax return for 2006 was a little short. So as a result I have to send the required documents, along with my passport to the Embassy (asap of course ) and they will then issue the visa. Hey-Ho! Story of my visa journey! I have not feelings anymore with regards to the whole process - it's all been a long up hill struggle and I shouldn't have thought any different of today.

So...since arriving back from the Embassy I have been on the phone having a 3 way convo, and my Father-in-law to be has overnighted (Fed-ex) me a I-134 - which should be here very soon.

To top it all I'm sick and I REALLY need a drink. dead.gif Shaz is more upset than me. crying.gif

I'm so sorry to hear that. Its good news though really. Get the docs & your passport to them and you get your visa right?

So Congratulations. Happy for you.

You should be able to book the medical without even giving an interview date, thats what Hannah and I did.

And as said above its valid for 12 months, so make sure you file AOS during that time period. Or else its another medical for you.

Does anyone know really how long it will take from your NOA2 until your interview. Im trying to plan a march 21 wedding or at least the second week in April. I got an email on jan 14 saying I was approved. But since there is no mail tomorrow ill have to see if the letter comes tuesday. This way I can let my finacee know what time frame he is looking at to go to london he is about 5 hours away.

Something I didn't do that others did was put an entry date to the US on their P3 checklist, it seems to have worked for the most part. I didn't and my interview seemed to take longer to schedule.

We also had the bonus that the USE London sent me 1/2 P4 info in my P3 so when the lawyer 'helped' out they sent me an expired P3 form, so I had an RFE. Once that was dealt with it was better.

Pretty much, I'll get there a while before my stuff will. I didn't realise I could send it all to Shan ahead of time, I'm surprised that's not exploited for sending commercial goods to avoid import tax. I thought I read somewhere I had to arrive in the US before my stuff did, although wasn't sure if I had to prove I was emigrating by showing my visa.

Apparently, Seven Seas will take a copy of my passport and query whether i've left the country or something.

We weren't trying to avoid import tax though. Hence the exceptionally detailed inventory.

Hmm, interesting. For the purposes of tax exemption on the items you move, I thought I'd read you had to show you're emigrating and that the goods couldn't arrive before you.

Have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Stu

I'm not sure what you mean. By tax exemption, do you mean customs tax exempted? I filled out all the forms and meticulously listed the items, ages of items and relative values and then sent the inventory to John. B/c John (he is the USC) filled in the customs forms accepting responsibility for the items being shipped everything was okay.

We chose this method as we were only beginning the process when I left Australia and I wasn't emigrating then. I will eventually emigrate from here in the UK.

It cleared customs fine. Me signing off sending it and John signing off accepting it.

Just in the middle of trying to sort out some shipping stuff, one thing I'm not clear on is when I'm good to order. I'm still waiting for the visa after the interview last week (assuming the medical results are clear). Do I need to have my visa in hand to order shipping? Or if not, will they need to see it at some point?

Yours hopelessly confused!

Stu

All my stuff is in the US already before we have recieved the visa. All that was required was the USC (John) be the one signing the customs forms accepting the shipment and responsibility for it.

I also have 2cents to offer.

In the world outside of VJ where people meet, decide to get married without government approval cold feet is common. Its not new, people panic about the commitment and what is to come. From moving one town to another, one state to another or even just learning to live together, the unkown can be scarey. It doesn't mean they don't love the other person in the relationship.

I don't see dollar signs in someones eyes b/c moving halfway around the world to an unknown environment 'spooks' them a little.

I am glad to see the wonderful community support, people willing to ask for help and others there to provide it.

ok climbing off the soapbox now.

This says it all for us

Snow Patrol

Chasing Cars

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told

Africa: Sub-Saharangoing to pursue CR-1, live with him abroad (not in his home country). how will this affect the visa process
My parents lived in SA for the last 11 years and I visited 5 times; 2 of which on extended stay for 90 days or more.

You will be able to obtain a 90 day entry in to SA. It is not a visa it is an Exemption and the idea is you intend to stay 90 days or less. Then you MUST leave the country. But you can often just cross the broader for a week and then go back on another 90 day visa.

They usually ask to see proof of support ie your bank account and will absolutely expect to see a return ticket.

And on a second return closely on the heels of the first there is more scrutiny.
