Well, we were fortunate to be together for the holidays. Still no interview date though....maybe this will be our week.
We had a great time being together for the 1st time in almost 8 months! I dropped Melannie at O'Hare yesterday, she should be in Paris waiting for the flight back to the UK now. Last time we parted we had no idea when we would see each other again. This time wasnt nearly as bad as we are confident we'll be together in early March. This time for keeps.

And I am really proud to say I DROVE into Chicago and made it out alive. No bus, as we missed it, so I went all the way into the airport this time. Pretty big stuff for a country boy like me. Though the more I am around Chicago, the less I can understand how people can live in that mess. WAY to many people for me. There are more people at just the airport then in my whole county. And everything looks the same to me. One city block is just like another in my opinion. But I made it. Though I am not sure why all the angriest people were coming from behind me........ whistling.gif And I saw the tallest buildings I've ever seen right up close in my car. When I took Melannie to what I had considered skyscrapers around here she laughed at me.

Does anyone know if you are allowed to enter the U.S with a k1 without using it to enter?

Melannie would like to come here for the holidays, but has to stay in the U.K until late Feb on her job contract. As much as we'd like to be done with our visa before the holidays, in some ways it would be better for us if our interview was in Jan.

We dont want to postpone though as we are most eager to be through with this process, and will spend the holidays apart if that is the way it works out.

We called today to DoS, and the lady there thought we should have an interview date set by next Friday at the latest. They are up to late Dec in London, so we should have an interview before new year. Then as soon as Melannie finishes up at her job, life will be good again!

Its okay have a good one now. Finally got the lawyer sorted out. John wanted a partial refund at least but the lawyer was pretty smooth talking. I think we say good bye to the money and move on.

well was hoping to send out my checklist on fri but the passport misshap stuffed that mad.gif

so i think i will have to go for the two week not garenteed service for new passport because i cant get up to london again for a while, its so dam tricky.
which means i wont be able to send off for my interview for another two weeks, ahhh.

oh and i phoned the embassy and i think she was in the middle ofsaying i didnt need to get new police certs, but i got cut off, stupid weather crying.gif
but i'm slowly feeling better about things, but not so sure i will have an interview before xmas now. unsure.gif

i dont think you send your documents like birthcert till interview. unsure.gif and as for the affidavit of support i dont know

They should be completed and returned to the Immigrant Visa Unit, U.S. Embassy, 5 Upper Grosvenor Street, London W1A 2JB." That is the response we got from the embassy in London. Aff of Support and birth certificate, evidence of relationship, etc, all are at the interview.

It shocks me how hard it is to get decent health care in countries like UK and Australia. Its cheap, or even free, but the simplest services seem to be so difficult, like your recent experiences, or just getting an appointment can take months. Here in the U.S, I dont have a regular doctor or anything, havent been to a doctor since 2003, but was able to get Melannie an appointment in 3 days when she was here. I dont have a dentist either, but I got that appointment in 1 day, just had to make it through a weekend.

I guess you can say that health care is really easy to get here, just impossble to pay for!!!! crying.gif

My lawyer finally got our financial packet done today, and I was just glancing over it, found she had listed Melannie as my fathers wife, with my sister as her daughter. Lucklily I was just able to print off a correct form from the computer. Now I have everything notarized to send off tommorrow. Boy, our lawyer was sure worth the cost.......NOT!

Nope, not yet. The USE London, sent me a wrong pack. I got confirmation today on what I have to complete, I done half I'm going to get the rest completed over the weekend and send Monday. What about you?

Well, I shortened our evidence from like 150+ pages from Vonage calls to like 35. Only included a few emails and IM stuff, mostly because they involved things you wouldn't want to show them. Of course, I plan on canceling my Vonage service, thank god, at the end of this month when my first year contract expires. We'll see how that goes.



I'm looking forward to normal phone bills again too. No more international charges on my cell will be great! And not having to always think, "its _ pm here so its_ pm in the UK" will be great too.

We have a similiar problem as we use 5 different email addresses between us as well as Skype chats. I'm fairly certain deforestation is direct result of the K1 visa process! whistling.gif

And I thought 20 cents to the UK was bad wacko.gif , you have my sympathy!

In our first month, when we first met and had no idea what we were doing, we racked up nearly $1200 between us in cell charges blush.gif We still spend probably $120-$150 month now. I hate to think how much we've spent on phone calls crying.gif
