Morning all! Schools were closed and not a single flurry had hit the ground yet. We are getting ready for 10-15 inches of snow. I did not go to work today in preperation, but I feel guilty since there is no snow yet.

Have a great day all.

QUOTE (Boaz @ Jan 22 2009, 09:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just reflecting and thinking out loud ......

When I graduated from college, I vowed that I had experienced the best life had to offer.

Then I began travelling on corporate jets, staying in fancy hotels, and meeting with coporate movers and shakers. So now, something else became the best experience life had to offer.

Fast forward a decade plus later, and I met a man who vowed in front of God, family and friends to make me his good thing. So ... again life has allowed me to experience another 'best experience'.

BUT then ... through the resource of a good friend on City Council, who had a strong (and favorable) connection with one of my state Senator's, who provided me with two seated seats to the Presidential Inauguration of 2009; I once again experienced the best life had to offer.

I am high on life! Never in my life did I think I would be able to witness history of this magnitude. I am high on life! Even the coldness of the day, good not interfere with what I felt. 48 hours have gone by since that wonderful moment, and yet .... I am still high on life. In more ways than I can count, I continue to experience the best life has to offer.

When I was a little girl, the choir use to sing, "Without God I can do nothing! I am like a ship without a sail."

God .... thank you!

Dang Boaz, you gotta sistah ova herre living vicariously through you, tearin up and all, and hatin (yes, UNO can admit when she is a hater wink.gif ), and lovin you through it all.

Sylvia, is Obama himself in charge of planning this "party", the festivities, and the money going towards it? Also, I thought it was stated that the Inauguration Committee is in charge of paying for it and not the taxpayers...is this incorrect?

LL you are correct. The point though is he knows what is being spent and yet has done nothing to cut back the spending. Is this the future attitude going to be also? As I said earlier, allowing excess in one instance will only lead to it being allowed in other areas. The lines become greyed.

The method Inauguration committee used to raise money for this event is the best I have ever seen in recent history for every American for the following reasons;
a) Lobbyists and special interests were not given the chance to fund it as was the case in 2004, hence they will have very less influence in his government
b)The maximum donation one can make was also lowered ie In 2004,private individuals and organizations made donations upto 250k but in Obamas case, the cap was set at 50k
c)You can google it online and see the people that paid for this and how much they all paid
d)Obama did not make use of taxpayers money in his election and in his inaguration too, ordinary people like me and you are also funding it so that special interests will be dissapointed
e)Finally Obama is a person of color and we are on the verge of history, people from all over the world are in DC to be part of this, hence the security, medical, shelter demands will be so high, and also to combat this, the government are forced to protect me and you in DC so that we can have a safe transfer of power.
f)Since this election, how so many threats have been made over the internet regarding the safety of his life, because of this, his security details are also high
g)Finally, Obama has no control over the number of people that will be in DC, and moreover it will be a big insult to the US if anything regarding security and safety goes bad.
g)please allow us to enjoy this day, this story does not happen everyday, it is a once in a lifetime event which is only possible in my beloved country, the US.

good.gif good.gif good.gif

I normally try to stay out of this thread, but I just thought I had to put something in here. The majority of the extra money goes to security to ensure that some crazy doesn't come to kill our new president. Those who were in power before yesterday spent billions in the name of our security in Iraq and never complained about the cost. Now the money spent on the security of our new president is being ridiculed. That is what doesn't make sense to me.

And those same are speaking as if this money is being kept away from our economy. This money spent was spent on our own soil. It was spent in paying security personel - who are American citizens in need of fiscal help. The DC economy needed help and this inauguration is helping those of us who live in the DC area. An area that is regularly neglected. This money is going directly to the American people.

kanyiri, dont ever stay outta this thread, we need all input we can get. even if its just a blink.gif every now and then from ya star_smile.gif

Uno, Bush had nine balls in 2005 and according to some people, he should've been using that money for the Iraqi American people instead of throwing himself parties during such a time of crisis.

This is a prayer to all of my Subbies that are going through seen and unseen.

God Has Amazing Things in Store for You

Stars do not struggle to shine, rivers do not struggle to flow, and you
will never struggle to excel in life, because you deserve the best.
Hold on to your dream and it shall be well with you... Amen.

The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, the hand that
will send this message to others shall not labor in vain, the mouth
saying Amen to this prayer shall laugh forever, remain in God's love.

Your dream will not die, your plans will not fail, your destiny will not
be aborted, and the desire of your heart will be granted in Jesus'
name.

Say a big Amen and if you believe it, send it to all your friends.

Money will know your name and address before the end of this month. If
you believe, send it back to all your friends. None goes to the river
early in the morning and brings dirty water. As you are up this morning,
may your life be clean, calm and clear like the early morning water. May
the grace of the Almighty support, sustain and supply all your needs
according to His riches in glory. Amen. Love the Lord. Have a wonderful
day in Jesus' name.

The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not
protect you. I see something good happening to you, something that you
have been waiting to experience.

This is not a joke; you are going to receive a divine visitation that
will move your life forward mightily by the outworking of God's
unstoppable Power.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.
Smile...God Loves You!!!

Maybe you did not have enough antifreeze something must have frozen and busted the temp. I am thinking. Good thing this is a visa forum, because I do not want to get harrased for giving mechanical advice. LOL

frozen "antifreeze" will do it, a stuck thermostat will do it. both prevent the circulation of the water.

here's an odd one for you but it works - if your car is overheating in the summer, turn on your heater. that will help cool the engine some and it adds water from the heater core into the overall mix.

hey y'all is this an authentic recipe for Peppa-soup? unsure.gif

What you need
  • two pounds goat meat, lamb or mutton (beef for stew can also be used); cut into bite-sized pieces
  • one or two onions, quartered
  • two or three hot chile peppers, cleaned and chopped
  • peppersoup seasoning (see below)
  • four cups meat broth or stock
  • two tablespoons ground dried shrimp
  • one small bunch fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • one tablespoon fresh or dried utazi leaves (or bitterleaf) (see below)
  • salt and black pepper to taste
and if so, what is "utazi?" blink.gif

p.s. I got this from the congocook book

Hubby left out some ingredients according to the recipe....did not use peppersoup seasoning, any shrimp or leaves but
he sure did grind about 5-6 hot chile peppers. Is that the reason it was so hot? blink.gif I am going to try this recipe!!!! Utazi must be one of the dried green vegetable leaves.

thanx Robin. unsure.gif ..ooops, I mean Forchicka cool.gif . I eventually googled it and found out what it is and how much to use. Apparently, the utazi is very strong in flavor so only a small amount is needed.
