United KingdomUK posts being made invisible

What I am thinking is that when a post is set invisible (like can be done now) a place holder is put in its place that indicates that the text has been hidden versus totally not being visible. In place of the original message text would be a notice that it was removed by an admin/mod and possibly a reason.

Captain Ewok, I believe that is what has always been done in the pre-moderator days. I remember many times when you had edited posts and typed something like " I love pizza". Then you signed it, so people knew it was removed per TOS violation, and knew that you did it. Problem now is, all the mods are "anonymous", so no one knows who is reading or deleting, and no reason is given for deleted posts. If the mods feel compelled to edit a post, I think a reason should be given, and we should know who performed the edit. It may eliminate some of the "####### just happened?" posts. Just my input, since you we're asking for suggestions. ;)

Party pooper, we were discussing hats, here.

Yeah, I don't see why that's not possible currently. But I do see where Ewok's coming from, knowing what happened with the previous batch of mods a few years back.
But you have to realize, VJ is a different place and our mods now are different peeps, Captain.
I'm not for making posts invisible; it's just confusing when, as someone who isn't on here 24/7, catching up with a thread and then having to read two other threads to find out what the heck's going on.

Yeah.

I was being serious, as well.
And I wasn't actually stating that you ARE taking sides. Just stating what was implied in this thread. I didn't say anything about you showing preference or who knows who or who kisses ####### where.
From what I remember and read before, this has been brought up before and I can't be bothered to find the specific threads or posts but someone complained about you taking sides before when it came to H_A. That's all.
And all I was saying, was that this thread seems to be more a hissy fit thing about that, again.

And that's all I'm stating.
I'm out.

Anyone who knows me on this boards will know that I like to try and lighten the mood a little. Sometimes it falls flat, so flat that the tumbleweeds start flying by, other times it helps to diffuse a tricky situation. *shrugs*

I know. :D Love the hat, btw.

Am I the only one who thinks this is another Devilette vs. Mags vs. H_A vs. UK Forum vs. whatever thing?

I have to admit, I have no idea what you mean by "another" Devilette vs Mags thing. I'm honestly quite stupefied by this comment.

OK. Let's delete the another in that sentence. How's that?

I can't delete. :P

Seriously though, regardless what anyone here thinks, in the majority of cases I don't actually look at who the poster is with regards to inflammatory posts. I treat each thread as an individual item and judge it from there on in.

It is easier for people to say "you show preference!" or "it's who you know!" because many people thrive on drama online. It really doesn't affect me at all, simply because I know that I remain as impartial as is humanly possible.

If there is a specific poster who continues to post inflammatory things then I will obviously have to take notice. This is rare and I can only think of a small handful on VJ who fit into that criteria. If people are reported to me aswell, then I will take notice and, if required, PM the Captain for his further advice. Lal and I also talk regularly to discuss board matters, we help each other out and this is great. It enables us to think things through before taking certain actions.

Going forward, I'd like to see:

- invisibility as last result. It is big brother & unneccessary unless racist, threatening, etc.
- warnings to chill out
- consistency in which posts get censored
- less bias

-If a threadmust be name changed, say why. This thread had no business being renamed, or moved.

I do appreciate your work, mods!

Am I the only one who doesn't really give a sh!t what Devilette would like to see? I wasn't aware she had suddenly become board owner.

I think it just boils down to this.
Some people think some mods are biased. Others don't.
Some people think posts shouldn't be removed without warning or explanation. Others don't.

And I think, some people should grow the fark up or get the fark out. But no one cares about what I think. :P

*************************JAWI UPDATE********************
Hi Ya'll,

I just wanted to update you. I spoke to Jawi and she is doing fine. Still in some terrible pain and the doctor really wants her to give typing or anything that requires her to flex/use her shoulders a rest for a while, in hopes this shot will work.

So, I hate to tell you this, but no story for a while. She sent her love and said that she will get back to it as soon as her doctor gives her the ok.

She also wish all a VERY Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!1

Blessings,

Gill

Thank you for the update, Gill!

Hope you feel better soon, Jawi. We miss ya, gal!
Your health is far more important than keeping us updated with the story, however good it is. biggrin.gif
Happy Turkey Day to all of you.

Wow Jawi you are going through a lot.
You are in my prayers rose.gif

Only more testimony about God's grace and goodness. I don't want to sound like I am complaining or anything, not looking for sympathy. I try to let joy be what I project. I like making people smile or laugh. God will not bring me to something that he won't bring me through.

I have been trying to figure out your version of patwah...what does "dae" mean?

Just wanted to say I love reading the patois. Its helping me understand it more. It'll be the day when I can actually understand when its spoken and hopefully speak it myself.

Don't read it silently. Sound it out. When you hear it as you read it, you will begin recognizing words every now and then in his conversation. Then, you will recognize a phrase. The next thing you know, you ears literally pop and you can understand it. I was like a dope fiend...in everybody's conversation all through town...seeking out people talking...all faas in dem business. I love when Jamaicans are here in Atlanta...chat nuff phockery inna patwah and mi chuckle cuz dem free wid ie...and nuh knoa mi all inna dem business. waaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiieeeeee good.gif

That's great advice. It's what I've been trying to do but sometimes it does get hard. I don't have that much experience hearing patois but I do have a knack for imitating accents (yeah, I'm weird like that. When I was younger, I'd pretend to be Irish one day and Welsh the next). What gets me are specific words like the censored ones but I've had help with that now biggrin.gif

Jawi, I see your name down there so just wanted to say: much respect to ya, you're one strong lady! Hang in there, you know the saying.. Door close, window open.
Take care, everyone.

Edited to add: Man, I would so kick Ian's ugly, rude ####### to hell and back if I ever met him in person.

Hey everyone,

Hope you don't mind me sneaking in and reading up on the story. Love it so far!
Good work.

I was wondering though, sometimes it's hard to figure out what everyone's saying but I've been trying to mouth some of the patwa and figure out a word here and there. What exactly happened between Melody and the um other twin, and the Chantell person? (I think both twins raped/had sex with both girls or one each or something and Melodee got pregnant, couldn't figure out who the daddy was and got an abortion and something got messed up and she can't have babies and her bf really wants to have a kid? And the other twin took the blame for the rape on Chantell although he didn't touch her, it was the other twin. Err Melodee's twin... I'm confusing myself here now, you know what I'm trying to say though, right? tongue.gif)
Oh and what are the words that you censor out? I've tried googling but I only came up with the same censorship problems tongue.gif You can PM me if you wouldn't mind to tell me (if it's too crude to type out in the forums or whatever).

Thanks!
Can't wait to see the story unfold once Ian shows up in Jamaica. Dum dum dum DUM!

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Moving back to Belgium

No idea how it works in Belgium, but if it's in any way similar to Germany (which is possible given that there are EU-standards in terms of migration), all you would have to do is go to the town hall and register your husband. He will then apply for a permanent residency certificate and a work permit which he will be granted based on the fact that he's married to you. The whole process should take about 2 weeks at the most.

I'd check the website of the registrar of the city you're planning to move to or the website of the Belgian ministry for interior affairs for details...

That's exactly the idea I got from reading through a few websites. It just seems way too easy but then again, after US immigration, everything does.
Thank you both!

Hello everyone,

David and I are considering moving to Belgium once I have my citizenship here (just to avoid more paperwork hassle when we decide to move back to the US at some point).
Does anyone have any information on what needs to be done?

Thank you in advance!

:star:

What do you mean, "what needs to be done"? With regard to what?
You'll probably want to get an Immigrant Visa-type thing from Belgium so he has permission to move there...
The US consulates sometimes have info on their webpages for people who want to move to the country in question.

Thank you for the reply, meauxna. And sorry about the confusion. I should have been more clear.

I'd like to know if we do need a visa for David, I can't find anything about that. Any info I find is about what to do once you're in Belgium (registering at the local town hall etc.).
Anyhow, I'll look into it further.

Thanks everyone.
