K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhere do I go for my interview?
I believe it would be Montreal. I know when my fiance lived in Winnipeg we were planning that he would have to go to Montreal. He has since moved to Kelowna, BC so he will now be going to Vancouver.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures60 to 90 or 60 to 180 days?

Have you registered for Case Status Online updates with the USCIS website? When you look at your portfolio online & click on whichever petition (I-130 or I-129F) it will bring up a screen that looks like your NOA1 and gives an average processing time for that particular petition. In my case, the time matched the time given on my NOA1.

Yes I have registered. I will click on the petition the next time I log in and check it out.

Thanks!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures60 to 90 or 60 to 180 days?
I have a question on this. Where does it tell you on-line how long they are taking? On my notice that I received in the mail for K-1s it was 80-110 days through Nebraska. I have been trying to see it on-line but having trouble finding that.

Thanks!

There is no child support involved. We waived that. I will have to see if I can do some more digging on this.

Thanks anyways.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134
I started reviewing the information that I have to fill out for the I-134, Affidavit of Support. I have a question though. I think I know the answer but maybe somebody else has gone through this to.

I am divorced with two girls from my previous marriage. My ex-husband and I have joint custody. This means I have my girls one week and then my ex has them the next week. We alternate. On my taxes, I claim one of my daughters and my ex claims the other one. Should I only show the daughter I claim on my taxes to Question 8 - the following persons are dependent upon me for support or do I include them both?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionwhats up with Montreal?

The backlog started when they opened up DCF in Canada. I don't think they realized how much work the NVC did for them.. Now not only do they have the additional workflow in visas due to DCF, but they have to do all of the processing themselves (background checks, I-864's, DS-230's, collecting the money, etc.). Basically they really increased their workload, but probably didn't get additional personnel to help out.... hence the backlog..

Blaming the poor people in Montreal is not the problem or the solution, they're probably working their asses off to get stuff done.. you want someone to yell at, write to the State Dept. Inspector General and your Congresspersons and tell them to increase the funding for Montreal...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionApproved K1 Applications Being Recalled!

Dwfunk, did you file a Criminal Affidavit with yours? If you did where did it tell you to do that?

Yes, I did file a Criminal Affidavit with my Petition. Another Notarized copy went to my Fiancée to take with her to the Embassy. Nothing on the current I-129F form, and nothing on the USCIS website has said anything about this, your Attorney should have told you.

I was wondering if any of the information on the Vancouver Embassy/Consulate info page on VJ needs updated. I see that it was last updated on August 24, 2005. I just wanted to make sure nothing has changed.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 Part I

Jen, Did you notice? Your post was posted at 11:11 ... your proposed wedding date :D

Yes 11:11 haunts me. I see this set of numbers everywhere and whenever I look at the clock whether am or pm around that time its 11:11. :P

The DS-230 is part of Packet 3. I am trying to get a head start on the forms. I am glad I checked. Its going to take him a bit to figure out all these dates. He has a horrible memory too. Ugh!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 Part I
I was gathering the forms for Packet 3 because I figured I might as well get Darcy started on the forms he needs to fill out. Well I was reading through DS-230 Part I. Question #20 says "List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16." Well he is going to freak. He has moved over 25 times in his lifetime. I realize it is after he was 16 but I can guarantee they won't all fit on this form and will have to attach a sheet.

This will just make his day....NOT! :P

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230
My fiance has a question on the DS-230. It is regard to the question about education. He has never went to college. Does he fill in all the schools he went to since grade school? or does he just list where he graduated high school from?

Thanks,
Jen

Devilette - He has to fax back DS-230 that's it. Everything else goes with him to the interview.

Raymaga - Thanks for the support! We were doing our best to try and get before our vacation but unfortunately his medical isn't until September 5th. He is leaving on September 8th to come here. He returns to Kelowna on September 27th. We have asked for a interview date of September 28th.

Cool!

Are you sure you can fax it? You can't in the UK since you need to fill out all the forms as well.

Yup! It says on the checklist to fax it! They will email or call him with the interview date.

Canadawhat to tell canadian customs
I always get detained when I am traveling to Canada. It doesn't matter if I fly or drive. I almost expect it now. I travel to visit my fiance and I travel to the Toronto area for work. My last trip was September so I am hoping when I leave in 23 days that it will be far enough apart that I don't get detained.

I have several months to go before I am at this stage but do they interview Monday through Friday or only certain days. I have lots of planning once we get to that stage because after my fiance's interview and we get the visa we are flying to Winnipeg to move him down.

I didn't realize you could get your medical done right before the interview for Vancouver. Does this go for K-1 Visa's too? Boy that would make my fiance be happy if that is true. He lives 4 hours from Vancouver.

CanadaLiving in US While Processing??
I agree with Reba. My fiance was denied at the border last May when trying to just visit me because he was on medical unemployment and didn't have a permanent residence in Canada (he was living with his grandmother). You will need to submit copies of the divorce decrees with the I-129F petition. (We have been waiting for my fiance's for a year now but with circumstances behind it.)

I would really read into all the options before going one route and then regret your decision. Good Luck!

CanadaMiddle name issue in visa and passport
I know this is kinda off the topic but.............

Just don't get a divorce without your middle initial if its on your marriage certificate. My fiance's (*&$#)@&$)@#$ attorney screwed up and forgot his middle initial on the divorce papers. We have now been held up in court for 9 months because of it. He had to prove that they were both the same person.

Good Luck Pri!
