CanadaPacket 3
Thank you! I will tell him to look out for it next week then. He has the DS230 all ready to go. Just waiting for the checklist so he can send it back.

CanadaPacket 3
How does packet 3 get sent to you from the Vancouver consulate? The reason I ask is sometimes Darcy has problems retrieving his mail.

Thanks,
Jen

CanadaCanadian airports that are pre-clearance for U.S. Immigration?
Just a side note.....I always take NWA when I fly to Canada. Minneapolis is one of their hubs. There are connecting flights from either Winnipeg or Calgary. I have taken both of them. My fiance doesn't have his visa yet so I don't have info on that for the airports. I would have to agree as a whole that Calgary is by far my favorite airport.

CanadaRCMP Check
Darcy called when he got Packet 3. We were quite suprised it came so fast. Anywho, he was totally freaking out over the police cert. He has lived many many places in Canada. He was freaking out thinking he had to go to all the different places he has lived and get a police cert. there. LOL! I calmed his worries and said that the RCMP check that he has already gotten is what he needs. OMG! I thought he was going to have a heartattack over it. I told him well if you visited VJ more often you would have known this. :P

Okay! I will put Darcy on a mission. I will have him tell me if the Timmy's in BC tastes any different. Then when he heads to Calgary on September 3rd, I will ask him if it tastes different to him.

I will keep you posted! :D

CanadaHmmm!
Well I guess the embassy wasn't too concerned because we have our interview date. He did say that on the caller id it said it was unemployment or something with a toll free number on it. My inclination is its his ex-witch causing problems. She has caused lots and lots of problems since she moved out years and years ago. She has made our lives a living he!!.

Thanks everybody for your thoughts!

CanadaHmmm!
He sent back the packet 3 info and the checklist on Friday via fax to Vancouver.

Yesterday he got a phone call from unemployment verifying a date as to when he came to the states. The woman had said xmas 03 (which we weren't even together in 2003). He first came in xmas 04 but the thing of it is he has never been unemployed at xmas time. I am not sure if this phone call stemmed from how he filled out the DS-230 or his ex-witch trying to start problems. He gave the woman the dates he was in the states and then she hung up before he could ask any questions.

We are very puzzled by this phone call.

CanadaVancouver Consulate

Jen, They answered all my questions Via Email very fast .. My package 3 had no forms in it ( Just OF-167 and the I-134 ) you do not have to use the ones they send ! The instructions say to go online and fill out DS-156 and DS-156k and print them in duplicate ( Children need DS-156 filled out in duplicate also ) It doesn't say anything about not accepting hand written forms but i would be sure to ask them if it's acceptable.

Thanks! I will send them an email on Monday.

CanadaVancouver Consulate

I don't know. I did mine in ink, unless it changed in the last month or so.

Thanks! My fiance was kind of freaking because he doesn't always have access to a computer.

I guess he could contact the consulate and ask to make sure. I was just trying to get some feedback from here. Thanks!

CanadaVancouver Consulate
I was reading up on the forms required on the website for the Vancouver Consulate. I read that the DS-156 has to be filled out on-line. Below is how it reads on the website:

All visa applicants must complete the nonimmigrant visa application (DS-156) online. Hand-written DS-156s are no longer being accepted. Please note that you must print all pages including the barcode page on the last page which contains all the information you entered on the online DS-156. Completion of the DS-156 online will ensure processing of your application more quickly.

Does this apply to us going through with K-1? I assume it does but I wasn't sure.

CanadaMedical Costs
Darcy was quite surprised that his medical cost so much. He was quoted one price ($260) and it cost a different price when he got there. It was a good thing he could use his BC medical card for the blood work and x-rays because that was a separate price. Plus we had to pay courier fees to get the results sent to me/him in the states because the results wouldn't be ready for 3 days! Ugh!
jen&darcyNot TellingCanada2006-09-05 23:42:00
CanadaMedical

As far as I can see, everybody does: medical, interview, visa, enter, and in that order. Maybe by "permission" the doc meant having an approved visa (and not just a medical) before entering the U.S. Don't worry.

You might be right. Maybe the physician thought he was thinking Darcy was coming for good without having the approved visa. He is only coming for a vacation then going back for the interview.
jen&darcyNot TellingCanada2006-09-06 11:27:00
CanadaMedical
Darcy had his medical today. He left me an offline message that the doctor said he had to have permission to come to the states after receiving the medical before the interview. I never heard of such a thing. He wanted me to ask on the board if anybody has heard of this. They are sending the results to my address because he won't be in Calgary in 2-3 days when the results are back.

Any ideas? :help:
jen&darcyNot TellingCanada2006-09-05 21:21:00
CanadaSo, how does everyone carry the super-huge x-ray?
Hmmmm! I wonder if since the doctor is sending the x-ray to the states where Darcy is going to be until the interview if we should just keep it here in the states.

What do ya think?

I would take it !!!! Just in case. And the binders might slow him down going through security. I just put all of our stuff in a pile, tabed with a elastic around it in a plastic shopping bag. We got right through while others had to wait to be searched. Just a thought !

Thank you! I binder clipped it all together. :)

Okay we are scrambling to get everything completed for Darcy's interview. I have one final question. Does he need to take the entire copy of the original submission of the I-129F? I wasn't going to send it with him since he already has two binders of stuff to take.

Thanks,

I have a question on the OF-167 for Vancouver. Darcy and I are doing the finishing touches on his interview that is on Thursday. I was filling out the OF-167 and I didn't know what to put as his marital status. Under the line it says married/single. He is divorced. How should this be worded?

Thanks everyone!

P.S. Sorry I have been a stranger around here lately. We were in Disney World for 10 days!

CanadaGathering info to send to fiance for his interview
Don't send it DHL. We had Darcy's medical info sent to us while we were on vacation and they were supposed to hold it for us at the Cleveland DHL processing. They didn't hold it nor obtain a signature like they are required to do with international shipments. It was sitting between our two doors of our house when we returned.

DAMN!!! Huge accident, traffic totlaly jammed around US consualte to Airport. Roads not to open until 6pm tonight!!

Kidding!! Hope to hear great news soon

I need to remember to kick your butt if we ever meet.... :P You gave me a heart attack.

He called right after the interview. He said it was pure hell. He was talking so fast I could barely get a word in. He is horrible with dates and couldn't remember when we met. I had it all documented in his folder but he was so nervous he couldn't remember the dates. He said they put him through the ringer over that. Also, the doctor in Calgary that he went to filled out the medical paperwork wrong. They have contacted the doctor's office and have asked for information immediately. The drama never ends with this visa stuff. They said for him to be back between 1:30 and 2:00 since he expressed that he had a 4:00 p.m. flight to Hamilton, ON. Also, he is taking a cab to the airport so hopefully he will make it!

I will continue to update on this thread!

CanadaInterview Tomorrow!
Well today is the day! I have chained myself to my desk so I don't miss the phone call. :P

Thanks for all the advice on him getting to the airport. I am more nervous about that than him getting the visa. Security check at the airport shouldn't be an issue because he has zero luggage. All he has is the stacks of paperwork that went up with him and his coat. His hotel was too far away for him to be able to leave luggage there after checkout. He is already checked in at the airport with WestJet so hopefully he will make his flight!

I will post as soon as I know something.

CanadaInterview Tomorrow!
He was told it would take 15-20 minutes. He is taking a shuttle to the airport. I guess we will see. He has the last flight out of Vancouver to Hamilton. Believe me, I am extremely nervous about that part. I am one of those people that shows up at the airport well in advance so I am a nervous wreck over that part. :P

CanadaInterview Tomorrow!
Darcy has his interview tomorrow in Vancouver. He is a nervous wreck. He leaves this evening at 6:40 p.m. out of Cleveland and arrives in Vancouver at 10:50 p.m. His interview is at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. Of course, we procrastinated in getting him a hotel room until our return from Disney. Well low and behold there is a convention in town and no rooms available. He is staying about 10 blocks away but he isn't too concerned with this because he used to walk 2 miles a day to work. The scramble will be from the Consulate to the airport for his 4:00 p.m. flight to Hamilton, ON. He is however checking in for his flight tonight so he only needs to be there 1/2 hour before the flight (according to WestJet).

I think I am just as nervous sitting here in Cleveland worrying and wondering.

CanadaAIRMILES help! Transferring AirMiles?
This is a late response but yes you can transfer miles. You can also purchase additional miles if necessary. I did this for Darcy. I transferred my miles to him and purchased a few extra to equal the free flight. I had to purchase extra because there is a maximum amount you can transfer. It was still cheaper than booking a full roundtrip ticket.

I hope that helps!

Canadajen & darcy?
Taaa daaa! We are back safe and sound in Ohio. :P

He called shortly after I left the office to make my drive to Hamilton, ON to pick him up. They actually had his visa by 1:30 p.m. and he took a cab to the airport to catch his flight. His flight arrived at 12:45 a.m. this morning. We drove to Brantford and got a hotel for a few hours of rest. We got up morning and drove to the Windsor/Detroit crossing. Of course, I stopped in Windsor and hit the slot machines and came out 75 cents ahead. LOL! The border crossing was a breeze. We were there about an hour and everybody there was really nice. There was some drama going on while we were there so it made the wait a little easier. The customs officer that assisted us was so nice and helpful. Darcy got his EAD stamp at the crossing. We were then on our merry way after that.

Sorry it took so long to post!

Jen

Hey all,

I didn't hear a Darcy being called on the speakers to get on the plane yesterday in Vancouver while I was waiting for my flight back home. I woulda been waiting around the time that he would be flying out. So i'm sure he got on the plane with visa in hand just like me :D. I too had a problem with my medical docs from the Saskatoon Doc and managed to get my visa after the doc faxed the proper docs on the same day - kinda touch and go though  I'll post later when i get off work about my experience.

Darcy thinks he may have been on the same flight as you. :P His WestJet flight # was 1422.

CanadaWedding Plans?
We are having ours in two weeks. It is going to be a outdoor wedding in a gazebo at a local park. I went and bought a dress last night. Its not a wedding dress though just a simple dress that I can wear again on a normal occasion. Both of my girls are going to be apart of the wedding because I want to them to feel important. One is the ring girl and the other is the flower girl. We aren't inviting alot of people. It will be a small intimate wedding with family and a few friends. The reception is immediately after at a pavilion at the park.
