K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A - Incorrect spelling
My Fiance just sent me his G-325A form....and I have a few questions..

*He used abbreviations for the months (employemnt/residence), and for December he put "Des". Will this get rejected since the correct abbreviation is "Dec"?

*For his current employer, he listed the street address, city, and province. But he didnt list the country (S. Africa). Will this be a problem?

Can I just fill this information in by hand? Or will he need to re-do and mail back to me?

Thanks for any help...Im really stressing!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSignature confirmation...bad idea?
I called USPS (3 times to be exact) and they told me TSC comes to pick up their mail, instead of it being delivered to them....all of this I did NOT know!! Silly me did not think about it being a PO box.

Thanks for all the responses....I needed the re-assurance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSignature confirmation...bad idea?
I was so excited because this weekend I overnighted my packet to the Texas service center. I requested that a signature be required upon delivery. Well, USPS attempted to deliver it this morning and could not get a signature.....said they would try again tomorrow. If they cant get one tomorrow, my package will be held for 5 days and then sent back to me. Did I make a huge mistake by requesting a signature? Why is there no one to sign for it?

I was so happy and now I feel discouraged :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIt's on it's way!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhy does it take so long to cash a check?
Im in the same situation...TSC received my K-1 package last Tuesday 2/13/07 and I still havent heard anything. I would feel so much better if they would at least cash my check! I dont know if Monday was a holiday for them (Presidents Day).....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalifornia/Texas Service Center
Im sure there is already a topic regarding this but I cant seem to find it....

Anyways, I live in Oklahoma and I mailed my K-1 package to Texas Service Center. I got my case # off the back of the check, and registered on ucis.gov. The message says that my package is now at the California Service Center. So why did I mail it to TSC?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance name misspelled on NOA1
I was so excited that I finally received my NOA1 in the mail today! And then of course, shot down when I realized my fiance's first name is misspelled. (it should be Michal instead of Michael) As instructed, I called the customer service toll free number to get it fixed. I spoke with a surprisingly friendly girl who took all the correct information.....She she would submit the change, and I will receive confirmation in the mail within 30-45 days. Ugggh!!!

Has anyone had an experience like this? Im worried now that there will be problems along the way because of this. Any advice would be appreciated :(

If you can, go to Adobe's website, and the download the most recent, updated version. It wont hurt to try because it worked for me!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures+ signs in G-325A forms
Me and my fiance had the same problem when filling out our G-325A. I downloaded an updated version of Adobe and all the + signs went away. But my fiance just hand wrote the information that was showing up with a + sign. Hopefully that will be okay, I guess we will find out! But I think its okay to hand write some of the information as long as its neat and legible!

Good luck :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Clearance
I never really though about this but....

My fiance was in the U.S. for 9 months, but he traveled all around. Oklahoma for 3 weeks, Texas for 1 month, Florida for 2 weeks, and so on (probably 10-15 different states total). Does he need a police check for each different state he was in? I dont even know where to begin for him to get the police check....

Thanks for any help!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long.....

A week tomorrow since I've sent my I-129f last March 15,2007. I did track the conformation and it was recieved that Saturday (03-17-07) and until now they have not cash my check. How long would it take for them( California Service Center) to open, cash the check and doing NOA1?

See my timeline below....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThink it's all over when you're visa arrives???

Frankly, I don't care if they tell us both to run backwards over hot coals while singing Yankee Doodle Dandy, so long as my fiance is next to me while we're running, I'll do it. Bring on the forms and the fees, so long as we're together.

I cannot agree more with this! Maybe Im being nieve, but I dont care what we have to go through, as long as me and my fiance are together. If we can make this K-1 process work being 9,000 miles away, then I know we can figure out the AOS process living in the same house!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhile waiting for NOA2.....
Thanks for the info! (especially about the medical exam)

Between worrying about this Visa stuff and the million tornadoes going across my state, Im a wreck.

But I can always count on my fellow VJ'ers to calm my nerves a bit :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhile waiting for NOA2.....
Me and my fiance are K-1 visa February filers.....patiently awaiting our NOA2. Im getting a little anxious because (hopefully) our approval will be coming soon, and I dont know what to do!! Whilte we are waiting, isnt there something we could be doing in the meantime so that we are prepared when our NOA2 arrives?

My fiance lives in South Africa, and Ive tried researching the Johannesburg embassy for helpful information, but nothing. Im wondering if he should go ahead and apply for his police clearance (since it takes a while)? And get his medical exam?

Im very nervous about the next step after the NOA2, and want everything to go as smooth as possible. Does anyone have any advice on what we could doing NOW to prepare ourselves?

Thanks for any advice! :help:

I plan to live my entire life without ever having the "pleasure" of tasting balot.

Amen! This forum has spawned a whole conversation about balut between my fiance and I including the watching of youtube videos on the subject. I love my Filipino and I love the Philippines but, sorry, I just can't go there.

Stop!!!! Looking at others timelines can be torture. I understood that there would be wait of 5-6 months between NOA1 and NOA2. It was frustrating, I thought I would go crazy, I wanted to scream! But it wouldn't have done any good. Remember, this is a MARATHON not a sprint. Find a way to sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.... it's a long one. Thousands have successfully done this before we did. We will get through it.

Peter is on his way to London to spend the night at his nephew's flat. My stomach is in my throat right about now. I know I'm probably nowhere near as nervous as he is, but WHOA! Our future hangs in the balance of tomorrow. I don't foresee any reason for us to be denied, and I know London is a fairly easy embassy, but we usually have the WORST luck, so I'm really edgy today, hoping the luck we've had so far with this process holds out. My biggest fear is that we missed ONE tiny little thing, or he leaves a paper behind, or something minor and we get a 221(g) for it, and have to wait even longer. We rechecked all of the paperwork last night AND this morning before he walked out the door to head to London, so I don't think we've missed anything...

How did you all keep calm on the last day? I'm ready to FLIP OUT with nerves!!!

I'm there with you Asila as far as worrying about the money issue. I know I make well over the poverty line for a family of 4, but I didn't last year, so my tax return only shows $19k, plus I have the non-taxed child support that would put me about $26k. I've got 2 letters from my employer (one from the day I started, and another from 3 months later showing I had passed through my first 90 days and was still in good standing - even got a promotion) as well as ongoing pay stubs from the day I started through the current one, and a 5-year history of child support payments printed from the OKDHS website. I'm hoping this is enough. I've got my mother's info just in case we need it as a co-signer, but I don't want to have to use her if we don't need to. (I'm weird about being independent.)

From everything I can tell, if you've got several pay stubs showing a full 40 hours, they'll go off of your projected annual income. You're not expecting to be out sick, etc. Anyone can have an emergency and be out of work without notice. It's just the nature of life and work.

Good luck to you. I hope your fiance flies through the interview and comes out smiling!

Melissa,

From what I've found, I think the DOS updates their computers at 3pm EST, so if you call in the afternoon or first thing in the morning you might get fresh news. Might not necessarily be so, but it seems that way.

Just an FYI for anyone wanting to stay overnight in London before their interview and needing a cheaper hotel = When I went in March I used Active Hotels - UK and they had some pretty good rates. We stayed at the Shastesbury Premier Notting Hill and got a room that was usually closer to £200 per night for £79, and £15 for breakfast if we wanted a full English. The room was small, but had a VERY comfy bed, nice furniture, etc. My only complaint was the size of the shower. I literally had to SUCK IN to get the shower doors to close, and I was touching the glass walls on 3 sides while trying to take a shower. Not fun when you're claustrophobic. I did get a great night's sleep, so I can't complain too much.

They've got lots of hotels in London to choose from, and much better rates than I was finding on the more well-known discount sites.

Less than a month to go here! I can't wait!! Peter is starting to feel the nerves creeping up on him already. We both know it should be easy, we've got a very straight-forward case, but I can understand his nerves. After what we went through in February, his mom is ready to cry with worry that he'll be 'rejected again' as she put it. We aren't even entertaining the thought. He's going to go in, answer his questions, hand over his documents, and then walk out with a smile knowing he was approved. :)

Gap1, it's a lot of paperwork, just like the K1, but it's worth it.

I had half of the paperwork filled out before he got here, but we had so many problems with the CBP, USCIS, and DOS screwing things up after he got here, we waited a month. I had to take so much time off work to deal with the screw-ups that we called our Senator last Wednesday to ask for help expediting his EAD. They had the card in production the next day!!

We got our biometrics appointment a month after filing, and they had the case transferred to CSC about 10 days later. I've heard it's taking longer to get an approval if you get transferred than it does if you get an interview, so it's just a 50/50 shot.

Good luck to all of you who haven't filed yet. It only hurts when you see your bank statement!
DodiFemaleUnited Kingdom2011-01-03 22:23:00
United KingdomYes!! It's another shipping thread
I think Peter has decided to go with UpakWeShip.com. They're quoting him £3.85/kg, which is the best he's gotten so far. He's not shipping much, barely 75kg if that, so it makes sense to go with a weight-based shipper. He's going to have a local removal company pack everything for him to make sure it's all done right. (And so his mother won't nag him.)

24 days till his interview!!!!! It's all down to the wire now!!!
