US Citizenship General Discussion	My Interview	My appointment was at 10:45 in the morning and we arrived there around 10:30 ("we" being my husband and I). After about 20 minutes of waiting, an officer came and got me (my husband was not allowed in and the officer did not ask to see any documents from him, even though my citizenship is based on our marriage, just FYI) I was asked to take an oath (that i would tell the truth blah blah blah). Then we went over my application basically. He asked me if my information was correct, address, phone number. Asked me if my marriage was still good (yes) and if I had any proof of that. We got a baby girl back in October, so he wrote that down, and then asked to see some tax returns from this year. That was enough for him to verify that our marriage was in good faith. Then he asked me the questions that were already on the N-400, you know "were you ever part of the communist party", that sort of thing. I did fail to file my state taxes one quarter back in 2006, by mistake, so he asked me for some documents that showed that I had paid what was due and that i did not owe any more taxes. Then I signed my application. The whole time he seemed to be doing a hundred things at a time, printing stuff, checking things in my file, typing stuff on his computer. The guy was really nice and professional by the way, I really liked him. Then he asked me to read a sentence, I think it was something like "My car is parked in the garage", then I had to write "I drive a blue car to work". Then came the civics test, and I was asked 10 questions (there were pre-printed on a sheet of paper, so I guess this is totally random, not up to the officer who interviews you) Here are the ones I got: 1- What is the legislative branch of our government? 2- Who is Chief justice of the Supreme Court? 3- What are some of the basic beliefs of the Declaration of Independence? 4- Who wrote the Star Spangled Banner? 5- What is the supreme law of the US? 6- What are the 2 major political parties in the US today? 7- In what month is the new president inaugurated? 8- Name 2 Senators from your State. 9- Where is the White House located? 10- What did the Emancipation Proclamation do? Then my officer told me I aced my test (hurray!) and congratulated me. He told me that I was recommended for approval, gave me a document saying just that, and told me to wait for my letter with the information about the oath ceremony! I was so happy! US Citizenship General Discussion	OKC office naturalization dates	I wished i had known there were people here from OKC or going to the OKC field office! That could have been very useful : ) I passed my interview on May 15th of this year and got naturalized just last week (June 25th). My Oath Ceremony took place at the immigration field office, in the lobby, with about 50 other people, plus their friends and families of course. So it wasn't at the Court House for us! US Citizenship General Discussion	Journey Complete	I had my Oath Ceremony last week (June 25th) in Oklahoma City. I'm sorry I haven't posted my experience sooner. Everything went very well and smoothly for us. I passed my interview of May 15th, and received my ceremony date letter about 2 weeks later. Our ceremony took place at the local field office. Chairs were installed in the lobby for those getting naturalized (about 50 of us coming from 20 different countries!) and their friends and families. I was appointed to appear at 7:30 AM and got there on time. I went through security almost right away, but my husband and daughter had to wait outside for about 30-40 minutes before they were checked and allowed inside. In the meantime, I was called (as were all of us) to sign in, give up my green card, verify my name on and sign my certificate of naturalization. I was also given a Social Security form (Social Security people were present and invited us to give them the filled out form along with our certificate of naturalization at the end of the ceremony in order to update our status as new citizens). My husband and daughter finally got in, but were unfortunately way in the back while i was in the front row (the first three or four rows of chairs were reserved for those who were being naturalized). When all the friends and family members got in, the ceremony began. Some lady working at the field office gave a brief introduction and explained how the ceremony would go. She then introduced the person who would give us our Oath. This person gave a little speech, then we all stood up and took the Oath of Allegiance. After that we watched a message on TV from the President, and a little, very patriotic (and moving for me) movie. Then everybody was invited to stand up to give the allegiance to the flag (which oops... i did not know... shame on me). And then our names were called so we could come forward and retrieve our certificate (that was cool). And that was it! I went by the Social Security booth right after, so I've got that taken care of, and then we had to leave because they needed to let people in for a new ceremony! We are so lucky that our immigration journey is complete and I am so proud to have shared something so special with my husband and daughter. I included copies of both my old and new passport, just in case, especially because my married name only appears on my new passport. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	Divorce -- left the US	A friend of mine came to the States on a K1 visa, adjusted her status and received her green card. Unfortunately her marriage did not work and she left the US to go back to her home country. She is filing for divorce. She could have applied to remove her conditional status starting May 1st, which she obviously is not interested in doing. However she has made friends in the US during her time here, and would like to be able to visit them later in the year. She wants to be "clean" with the immigration so she'll have no problem coming back to the US on vacation. What does she need to do though? I could not advise her at all and feel kind of helpless. Does anybody know who she should contact to let the USCIS know that she has left the country and will not pursue her immigration journey?
