Hello,

I'm having major confusion over this I-693 Medical Examination report for the AOS process. I'm getting confused a little on whether or not we need this document from a civil surgeon or just the vaccine supplement we already have from the original medical examination given in Thailand.

I really want to get our AOS packet sent in and I have just about everything ready to go, ecspecially the I-131 AP document which I'm hoping will be given as quickly as possible since my Fiance's mother is very sick & ill.

I literally just got back from a local civil surgeon's office and they wanted roughly $450 to get my I-693 finnished and sealed up. I thought that was a little high so I backed out last second and I have called the USCIS twice since then before this message and I have gotten two different answers.

Would it be wise just to send in the packet with the vaccine supplement rather than the I-693 with a worst case scenario of having them RFE myself at a later point...

Sorry for all the questions

I just finished the AOS interview and all you need is the vaccination supplement from the Thailand doctor. If you have any vaccinnes that are marked insufficient time and don't have a mark for not age appropriate, then you will have to go to the local clinic for the shot. My wife just needed the varicella shot and we were able to go to the walk in clinic, get the shot, and go back to the INS office with the sealed envelope, and drop off the paperwork. We did it all in the same day and now the interview is being processed. Make sure you have some stuff in her name, like bank accounts, medical coverage, and beneficiary info to show at the interview cause they want that. They call it "bonifides". Good luck and hope this helps!

APPROVED!!!!
Thanks for all the great information here!
She was interviewed August 15, by "The Man," and he asked 3 very probing, suspicious questions. ;) "What is your surname?" (her surname), "Where does he live?" (she replied Texas, Dallas ;)), and "When did he come to visit last?" (she replied Last month, the 29th...no, June 29th!) Yeah, I'm REALLY tickled!!!

Wasn't that easy??? It's all down hill from here! Good luck!

Sorry to hear about the dog. Anyways, what are you supposed to take to the AOS interview when you already filed for the advance parole and work card. Most the stuff I already submitted. What should I use for supporting evidence of my relationship? So far I am taking
1 The wedding certificate
2 Birth Cert for both of us plus passport w/ I-94
3 Tax Returns
4 all the NOA's
5 Copyies of I-485
Am I forgetting anything??? Thanks for the advice

Skyman,

When we went back to Thailand Ying's passport has her maiden name and her green card has her married name. The tickets were issued in her married name. We took our original marriage certificate (we ordered several with the raised seal) and we didn't have any problems. Since her green card and tickets were in her married name we only had to fill out 1 customs declaration when we returned.

Gene
[/quote]
Thanks Gene, but she doesn't have a green card yet, just the parole doc I-512. Do you still think we can go back to Thailand and get back in the USA?

skyman,

Didn't cause my wife any problem. Marriage certificate, you know? And the picture on the different IDs also helps to tie things together.

Yodrak

Hi yodrak, her ID has to match her parole document to fly. How else can she prove she is the one holding the parole document if she has no matching ID. Her name has to match her airplane ticket to fly ya know? Can't buy and airline ticket without ID.

Glad to hear that. Didn't think it would be that easy the way security is these days. We will just bring her passport, marriage certificate, and parole document then. I'm already planning my next trip.

Jum just applied for the SS# with her given name as we are not yet married. However, I have heard that it is easier to apply with the maiden name before marriage and then update it after marriage, but I don't really know why. Also, we are still waiting on the SS card to arrive. I hope its in the mail this week, it has been more than a month and two visits to the SS office later.

C.J.

It sounds like most of us will be in Thailand in the years to come. We can plan some reunions and parties all the time!

C.J. & Jum

Sounds good. So tell me C.J. did your SS card have your wifes maiden name on it? I tried to get one with my wifes new name but no luck. Just finished the biometrics so maybe the work card will have her new name. What's your opinion fellow VJ'ers???

Hey C.J. it should only take a couple of weeks to get the SS card. As long as its within 2 weeks of your K-1 expiration it should be really fast. I am still waiting on the temporary work card since the biometrics interview. How long does that usually take??? Good luck, kirk n jenny

Way to go Chutima and Robert  Congratulations!!

George

Hey George! Baby Anthony sure is growing fast!!! :o

Well, things are going well, settling in nicely. Chutima just about has all her things unpacked and put away, and is getting used to the layout of the house. She swears I used to run a restaurant because of all the stuff I have in the kitchen, so she is pleased with that! She's even got "turned-around" inside the house, which I found quite amusing! She tried to go out the hall closet, thinking it was the door to the garage!

There is a grocery store that carries a lot of Thai products that we have already been to, and this weekend I'll take her to the other side of the island where there are more stores with better selections, especially concerning produce and fresh seafood! :D

I'm glad this is a three-day weekend coming up, so we will have time to do our shopping plus some more sight seeing. We're still trying to decide on a wedding location here on the island. What is funny, our temps are ranging between 69 - 79 degrees F and Chutima is complaining about beeing cold!!!

Other than the marriage certificate and some supporting evidence for the I-864, our AOS package is just about complete. I'm ready to get that started!

Well, that's about it for now. Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! :joy:

Aloha,
Robert & Chutima
:luv:

Cold in Hawaii huh? Now that is funny. Glad you found a Thai supply house. They come in so handy. My wife and I went to a Thai place here to eat dinner and it wasn't even spicy. What a dissapointment. I think they have lived in the states too long. Her cooking is better.
Enjoy the holiday everyone. Kirk and Jenny. Oh yeah, check it this picture of us at the Grand Canyon last week. See ya

5 more days until Jum arrives! I am so excited. The place is ready and stocked with food, and I just found a local grocery store that stocks full size prawns! I think I am all set. I fly up to New York City and pick her up early morning May 8th. She is on the non-stop Thai Airways flight to NYC. We will spend a few days there and then come on back to Charlotte. I am looking forward to it, the wait is almost over.

C.J.

Congratulations CJ. I am glad she is finally coming. Jenny has lived here since Jan24 and we got married April 8th. So far smooth sailing. Just need english classes and a job now. See ya, Kirk and Jenny.

All,

A month or so ago I had a few PMs with someone here about housing developments in the Chiangmai area. I have since emptied my message folders (the hand is quicker than the brain) and forgotten who. I have some further information if my correspondant is interested.

Yodrak

Hi Yodrak,

That was me. Ying and I are still interested. I hope your recent trip to Thailand was enjoyable. I am in Bangkok now but I am heading home tomorrow.

Gene

Hey Statsman, what kind of paperwork did Ying need to get her drivers liscense. So far all I have is the marriage certificate and the SS card, all with her maiden name on it. I need something with her new name on it. Thanks, Kirk and Jenny

My wife is the one who had MRS. on her passport. It was because she had a kid and wanted to get a visitor visa to Canada. That's what they told her to put, but it was before we ever met. She had to get a STATEMENT from the local amphur saying she was never married and everything was fine after that. She did have to translate it but a certified translation wasn't neccesary. Hope that clears it up for everyone. Also, I just turned in my AOS paperwork so lets hope it doesn't take too long. Wanna see a Thai girl ski???:D

100% correct it's the red number

Thanks Twellspeak. Now tell me about the vaccination supplement. All I have is the checklist from Bangkok. What did you use for yours? Thanks alot, K n J

Skyman
the visa number is her A number. It is on her I-94 and on her NOA 2.
As far as AOS as Anya said use whatever name your wife will be using after your marriage. If she took your name than I would use that.

Anya
Congrats on your interview date I am sure all will go well.

Thanks samsbs, but there is already a line for the A# on the I-485 part 2. Then part 3 has a space for the non-immigrant visa number. Are they the same number???

I am starting the AOS process but am not sure what name to use for my wife in the forms. Do I use her maiden name so it will match the rest of her documents like the passport and such? My marriage certificate only has her maiden name on it also. Any help appreciated. :D

It's depends... which name she would like to use from now on? use that name. I put my married name in there but all my other documents are inmy maiden name too (including Marriage cert.) So if she would like to use a marriage name - put it in the AOS application her marriage name.

I cant really help u with the visa number.. sont have it with me right now

Good luck!!

Thanks so much, did you put a middle name also? I was thinking of using her nickname. Thanks again.

If you already have an interview date then you must have already submitted everything you need to the embassy. Just have the originals with you when you go to the interview. Good luck.
