K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAddress
Ok got a question for you members that have gone thru this K1 process . My Fiance was living in Ho Chi Minh City she was a student when we met she was attending a university for english. I put her address on the I 129 as her living in Ho Chi Minh in a rent house because we were not sure if she was going to School again this year or go back home to her household were she has lived and says she lives on paper. She decided to go back home so now packet 3 is being sent to her rent home. She has some students from her class still living there that are going to look for the packet. Do you Members see any red flags about this . Thanks Eric and An

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisa Denied!!!!!!!!

Well they denied the Visa at the interview!!!! Reason: not enough documention proving we met before Aprii!!! We actually met in the summer of 2005 and provided 5 notarized affadvits stating so, plus phone bills, pictures from my recent trip to her country, diamond ring reciept etc etc etc. I can't believe this. My fiance saw me through a life threatening ilness at the begining of the year and a 5 month recovery and they question the validity of our relationship! I am beside myself.

Did they tell you what to do next? I am very sorry to hear this. But, I am sure there is something that you can do.....

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionForm questions
Okay I am confused. The DS-230 is not listed as one of the items in the "fiance packet" on the consulates website. It also does not say anywhere the we will fill one out. So if it is not listed as an item in the fiance packet and not listed as one of the forms required to fill out online, then when will my fiance and I encounter this immigrant visa form? I thought the DS-156 was the form.
luvinmbFemaleMexico2006-10-26 14:57:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionForm questions
okay. on the Ciudad Juarez consulate website you can download the Fiance Packet. The contents do not include the DS-156, only the DS-156k.....

I noticed that you do fill out the DS-156 and DS-157 online. So I know what is in the packet and what we will fill out online. However, I do not see where we will fill out the DS-230. Is that something a fiance (K-1) applicant fills out or only for K-3 applicants?

Sounds exactly like the email that I got! You will next receive the actual paper version of the NOA2. Be sure to keep this you will want it at your interview. Take a look at my timeline and you will see all the steps and approx. time to receive the next things! Congrats.

So, I got an email from the USCIS.

Does this mean that we got our NOA2 approved?

It has been a long time since I posted anything on this forum.....Louisa I also wish that more people waiting for their waivers to be approved were on this site rather than I2US. I have a lot of trouble posting and even opening that site. But, there are several of us that are waiting out the waiver approval process through Juarez here......Good luck!

Also, to those who had questions about the medical exam. They didn't do anything "too intrusive" to my fiance. They did inspect his private area, but left his rear end alone!!! hhahaahahahahah He would have died if they tried to go there!

Also, they did ask several questions about his tattoos and made him pee in a cup because of them. I guess they assumed that tattoos=drugs.....

Glad to hear everyone is doing well and I hope all that are waiting have speedy approvals and that their loved ones are home soon..... :)

hopefully somone in the Juarez section can help me out... i just received my letter from the juarez consulate and said i have an open appointment.
i applied for a fiancee visa. My noa2 states it is valid from 11-6-2006 to 3-5-2007. We would like to go to the interview in mid march, so i can be there in support. But according to the noa2 it is only valid until march 5. I contacted uscis i the person helping me was confused . I am still waiting to hear from the nvc. Does anyone know what the deadline of march 5 means? does my fiancee have to go to the interview before then? Or does it mean she has to enter the u.s. by march 5. i seen there was a form posted to file an extension, but if so where does it go to?
thanks, any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

You need to have your interview prior to March 5. When they issue you your K-1 visa, then you will have I believe 6 months to actually enter the U.S. After entering the U.S. you will have 90 days to marry.....

You may be able to get an extension on your NOA2 dates, however, I don't know who to contact about that....Most of us are so excited to get to the interview that we never have a problem with the available time frame! hahahaha

Hello, no news for me yet, but I wanted to ask a quick question for those who already went to the interview. I noticed that they asked Brenda where her fiance was during the interview, and many went with their fiance to CDJ (even though I know the fiance cannot enter the Consulate). My fiance thinks that if I go it will show that I support him and if I don't go it seems like I don't support him and he may not get the visa. I don't think this is true, and I may have trouble going because of work. Would you suggest that I go because it could help him get the visa, or is it really unnecessary and has no effect on my fiance getting the visa?

Thank you!

Agnieszka

I posted our details earlier, but here is my answer to some of the most recent asked questions.

My fiance went to the medical office right next door to the consulate. They claimed to open at 6:30, but didn't open the doors until 7.......As far as service, they were great. They took him in at 7:15 and he was out by 9:30............They asked him several basic questions....Have you used drugs, alcohol? Do you have any tattoos? Real basic questions and asked really fast....Literally only enough time to answer yes or no. I will tell you that if your fiance has tattoos, they will possibly make them take a pee test. They made my fiance take one after he answered yes to a tattoo.......They did a quick examination of all areas, nothing bad. An x-ray and that was it.....

We stayed in the Holiday Inn Lincoln and it was great. We have NO negative comments about this hotel....my fiance loved it, because there was a workout room for him. I saw the Hotel La Playa and am glad that we picked our hotel instead. Directly across the street from the Holiday Inn Lincoln is a great taco restaurant. The hotel concierge is great with food tips.....

I went with my fiance to the interview and stayed in the hotel the entire time. They did ask him where I was and he told them that I stayed in the hotel room. I don't think it really matters much to them, but it did matter to my fiance and kept him relaxed. I think if you can go and support your fiance that is great, but don't beat yourself up if it is just not possible.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

Brenda,

I gave them my originals because I wanted them to have the original doctor's signatures, etc....But I made a complete copy of every single page of my HSL and supporting documents. Which ever way you decide to go Brenda, always make a copy of everything you ever provide to the government during this process. Good Luck!

Hey guys!

I am glad to hear everyone's cases are moving along..... We are very happy today, because my fiance has officially submitted our waiver & HSL.... Everything went very smoothly and now we are in the wait for approval.

He said the lady who interviewed him today when he dropped off his information was very nice and only asked him a few questions. The funny thing is that when she asked him what date he was denied entry, he responded Sept 2004. And she said " oh, well my system shows Sept. 2005." So that shows you that their systems are slightly messed up........

Anyways, good luck for all waiting and I am sure everyone's cases will turn out fine! :)

I also wondered where Jamie went..... I hope everything is okay.

Okay everyone, here is our big update!!!

We completed our medical exam on December 26th at the medical office right next door to the consulate. We lined up at 6 a.m. and were done by 9 a.m... They took blood, x-rays and a urine test. They asked him if he smoked, did drugs, alcohol. My fiance said they asked the questions very fast and left only enough time for a yes or no response. They made him get naked to his underwear and then she inspected him. After that they made him pull his underwear down to his knees and visually inspected him. Since he had tattoos they asked him when and where he received them. That was it. We were told to return at 2 for the results. They told him that he was to not open his sealed envelope. The consulate would do that for him. The total current cost for the exam was $1,633.00 pesos.

We had our interview on December 27th. He got in line at 6 a.m. and there was already a line. He said inside they went to a first window where a very nice lady put everything in order. She asked him a few questions and then sent him on his way to the next room.
At the next room he was called to a window and got interviewed by an american lady. She asked him if he wanted to marry me and if i was there. Then she went psycho. She asked him about the day he was denied entry and he told yes he was denied entry once. She asked him if he had ever had his visa cancelled and he said yes the same time that he was denied entry. She then preceded to yell very loudly at him and tell him that he needed to tell her the truth about his intentions, etc. After he firmly kept responding that everything he was telling her was the truth, she suddenly calmed completely calmed down and told him okay I believe you and I think that you are telling me the truth....Then she very nicely told him that he needed the waiver and this is how he does it and gave him an appointment time to return in early January. After her crazy moment everything went very smooth. My fiance said he is pretty confident that she was just trying to see if he would try to lie or something and that when she saw that he had no intentions of lying, she was nice again. Overall, the consulate experience was not a difficult one. He said that she was mainly focused on his denied entry and not our relationship. She looked at our photos, but that was about it.

He will return and file our waiver Jan. 10. We are not worried about that, as I am confident in my HSL and documentation. She told him to expect a 6 month wait. But, I never base any of our wait time on their information. As I have experienced everything changes....We were a bit disappointed that we needed the waiver, especially when the border agents told my fiance that day in 2004 that he would be fine in the future for a visa. But, we now know not to believe what they tell you. We are so happy the interview is over and now we only need to wait for the waiver to be approved and to pick up our visa.......the hard part is over!! yippee.....

As far as our stay in Juarez, it has been fine. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Lincoln. I have no complaints for the hotel. It was perfectly fine. It is close to the consulate and there is a lot of stuff around to do. We felt safe and fine in Juarez. Anyways, that is our story. Overall not bad, everyone was doing there job and my fiance was not even mad about the lady yelling at him. We are glad to have this part over and now we are almost there....

Please let me know if you have any questions. Oh by the way, my fiance said they had a complete copy of the denied entry report in front of them before he went to the window, which is why she probably was focused on that. But again, overall the interviewer and everyone was nice and just doing there jobs. In fact, after the interview part was over, they were very positive.

Ucla_cutie, if it was stamped in his passport and was issued at a consulate I agree with KK and most likely was a B1/B2 visa, but if it was a card issued by the INS at an international bridge it could have only been a Border Crossing Card (Mica/Tarjeta local), which "technically wasn't a visa but was used as such by border residents. These are the ones where young kids' names were just added to the mother's card. The BCC were issued at the bridges by the INS until around 1998, after that they were replaced by "laser"visas or BCC/B1/B2. Hope this helps :)

I also wanted to give you an update on our case: after much consideration we have decided to postpone our trip to CDJ until January 3rd. We were planning on going on the 25th to have the interview on the 27th, but since I would have to fly to CDJ on Christmas- and there are no direct flights from the town I'll be spending Christmas eve at- this would take more travelling for me, less time spent with my family during the holidays, and much more money to spend compared to leaving from Monterrey later in January. And if we add the risk of the consulate deciding to close the entire week (I hope not since luvinmb will be going!)... we think it's just a better option to wait a few more days.

We have all the paperwork ready to go though, the only thing we are debating about doing is getting a letter from his new employer, since the one we have has an early november date and it is from his last job. Other than that we are READY :)

Good luck in your interview luvinmb!

Since I had already planned this trip to Mexico, it is the only time we can go to Juarez. I had the option of going December 26 for medical and interview on Dec 27....Or go the following week after New Years. Either week I was worried about the two major holidays messing everything up, since Christmas and New Years days are on Mondays....But, hey all I know is I confirmed with the medical offices they will be open on the 26th and confirmed with the consulate by email on the 27th.... But, we all know how that can go! Good Luck to all!

Man girl you are quick!! I love it though, everytime I post one of my silly questions, you answer within 5 minutes.

He can't even find it anymore, it was a while ago. I'll tell him to look for anything. What does a visitor's visa say on it? Maybe if he actually finds something he can read it to me, and then I can figure out if it's a visitors visa.

My fiance was issued a visa that they used to call "familia visa" when he was a small child. He updated that in 2001 to a BCC/Tourist visa.......

On the question about have you ever been issued a visa. We are putting "Yes" and when/what type: 1989- Familia Visa, 2001- Update to BCC/Tourist Visa

On the question about how and when visited U.S., we are putting: Misc. Visits to United States with Family from 1989-2001, Dec. 2001, Dec. 2002, Sept 2003......... Unfortunately, we do not have any way to find exact dates so that is what we are putting.

Oh, by the way group, we are heading to Juarez for our interview on December 27TH!!!!! Wish us luck.....

UCLA Cutie - I would follow luvinmb's instructions above - sounds like good advice to me.

Yeah, I seem to log on just as you post questions!!! : )

luvinmb - good luck at the interview!!!

When should we fill out the online DS-156 form? Is it electronically sent to them when we fill it out? Or is it only retrievable when they scan the barcode at the consulate?
