K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do I get a service request?
I know I am still not technically 5 months yet....I believe April 1st will be 5 months. We filed at the California Service Center. I called to check on the status...I know maybe pointless, but they told me the EXACT same thing they did last time I called - they are processing October 16th applications, and in 16 days I will be outside normal processing time.

The operator suggested I call back in 30 days. Yeah right...im calling before then.

So my question, because even if you ask nicely you might not get it, how do I request a service request?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe got an RFE - Oh no!!!
Hey,

Well i got an email tonight from the USCIS...thought and hoped it was going to be an approval, but instead its an RFE..I guess we have to wait till I get the letter to see what the reason is.

I read the RFE thread, but was wondering if I should be nervous? I looked over my pack and have no idea why we got one...Im really nervous. What if I cant get the info they request?

I THINK ive read somewhere that depending on how long it takes for me to get the things they need, shortly after they receive the info from the RFE they make a decision?

I need people to calm my nerves.... :help:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE - should I get a certified copy or will the one I have do?

What USCIS says:

http://www.uscis.gov...00045f3d6a1RCRD

Send an ordinary photo copy of it unless the RFE specifies a certified copy.

Thank you!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE - should I get a certified copy or will the one I have do?
I need advice.

We received an RFE, turns out all they need is:

"Submit a legible copy of the final divorce decree signed by a judge or magistrate that shows proof of filing, or the death certificate issued by the civil authorities, that terminated the previous marriage.

So I have a copy of the FINAL divorce decree from my lawyer signed by the judge with court stamps on it etc. Do you think that will be ok? I called the court and I can get a certified copy (meaning it has one extra stamp) on it, but I have to drive to another state to get it, or it takes 4 weeks.

Called immigration and they say just send what is on the letter. So no help there.

Should I send certified or the final document that I already have?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresthis is driving me crazy
I agree with what everyone is saying. This process to get your partner over is a huge undertaking and a huge commitment. I think that waiting and being apart will only make you appreciate what you have when you get it....and make you two stronger. Its hard, but well worth it! I tell my fiance that I would rather be waiting like this for him than have anyone else in this world every day. We have seen each other 15 days in the whole year, so love those 20 days you had 4 months ago!

Its worth it! Hang in there!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPayment for Interview/Visa?
Hi all,

Im not at this stage yet, but I am a little confused (maybe due to a lack of reading on my part), but so it is my current understanding that there is a fee for the medical (a fee for the actual appointment and then any shots you must get), but then there is another fee for the interview/visa?

Questions:

1. When you pay this fee (before or after medical)...i think definitely before the interview correct?
2. To whom do you pay this fee to (us consulate in london....department of state over here in the states)?
3. How much is this fee?
4. Can you pay via credit card?
5. Does it matter who pays the fee...the US citizen or the fiance?

I think thats it for now.

Just curious... :luv:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresplease help we got RFE!
You do not need certified copies. As someone quote me:

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe Medical and the Vaccines you need to get
Hi all,

SO now that we received our approval, my fiance will be going to his GP and seeing if he needs to get any of the jabs/shots for the visa (so its free). He claims that the doctor wont give him any, because he has already had measles, mumps, and chicken pox. He also said that he has received the tetanus etc. I told him that i think he will since they have to be within 10 years?

I am so confused about the list of vaccines he is supposed to get for this medical I tell ya! I did tell him to get his immunization record...but it sounds like it wont have anything on it.

Maybe it doesnt work the same as it does in the USA as it does in England. :bonk:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhich line to go through once you get your K1 visa?
Hi

My fiance and I have been discussing it, and which line do you go through - the visitor line or the US Citizen line when you have your K1 visa?

I said its the visitor line until you have your greencard.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresScheduling the Medical Exam...how many days out?
Hi all,

My fiance is posting the forms to get his police records on Wednesday. We are not opting for the more expensive expedited delivery, instead he should get it back in 10-11 days.

My question is...we were going to go ahead and book the medical when he sent off the police certificate. If we scheduled the medical when he sends the request off...will he have the certificate in time.

What is the wait time for the medicals in London?

Should we book it when he send the police paperwork off or should we wait till its in hand?

Thanks everyone! :luv:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLeaving the UK with your Children
I can understand what you are going through. I was originally going to move to Manchester England to be with my sweetheart and take my daughter, it was confirmed so about a month before the move I sold everything I owned - EVERYTHING and got everything boxed up, but then my ex decided to change his mind (specifically after he knew I sold everything) and not let my daughter go or even visit. So we went the K1 visa route to bring my sweetheart here.

I really hope it all works out.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMEDICAL - ITS SO CONFUSING
Hi everyone,

My fiance and I have been bantering back and forth about this stupid medical that he needs to the K1 visa....and I am SOOOO confused. I have wrote questions about this before and dont seem to be able to grasp it.

I see the huge list of vaccinations that he needs to have....

what if he had mumps or whatever else before?
does he shots need to be within 10 years?

does he really need them to pass the medical...or just for AOS and can he get them over here?

we dont want to pay for shots.

his doctor says he wont give him any jabs.

I have noooo idea what shots he even needs, and we dont want to pay the doctors in london.

help....im so confused.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProcessing times in London

Thanks so much for the prompt (and useful) replies! I called this afternoon and good job I did: she said there's a backlog and the next available appointment was 9th June. So, I'm booked for then. I'm so grateful for this forum otherwise I'd have been waiting weeks!

My fiancé is going to call DOS today or tomorrow to check on the status, but I feel better having a better approximate of how long it will take. Now just need to get police certificate and other documents ready in time!

Hmmm...maybe we should book our medical too. We want to have the medical date of around June 14-16.... Ill have him call Monday.

You will use your British passport as it will have the visa in it. Eventually you will get your green card, but will still maintain your British passport. Later down the road (I think 5 years) you can apply for citizenship. After you obtain that I BELIEVE you will have dual citizenship? Maybe not.

As far as your drivers license...I think that the one you have now is good for a year, then you must get a learners permit then take the driving test to get a Wisconsin drivers license.

Yes this part in your journey is the waiting stage unfortunately. Keeping the relationship strong and both of you happy is the focus.

Over the next 5-6 months you could get your fiance's birth certificate, police certificate (I'd wait a little closer to the NOA2), make sure they all their required vaccinations...and save money.

The wait is well worth it in the end.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions Part 2
What a ''complicated'' case?

Everyone gets an interview. Yours will be in either Montreal or Vancouver, depending on where you live.

Answer the questions on the form literally. If they ask for your name, don't list anything else but your name.

Unless you have a complicated case, the interview is fine, read the conlsulate reviews to know what to expect

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions Part 2
So how much should one add to the already questions asked on the forms?

And does everyone end up getting interviewed? Or is it not the same for everyone?

If you dont get interviewed where do you recieve your visa?

And if interviewed, what to expect at the interview? How long? What kind of questions? What to bring? Not to bring? What to do? Not to do?

Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBeneficiary Work History
But why would even the ''Petitioner'' work history matter? What if the Beneficiary doesnt want to be supported by him or her? Or is not marrying her or him because he or she wants to be supported? Why does it matter so much? And what is it for them when the ''Petitioner'' can support his or her Beneficiary? What if he or she only wants to be with his or her fiance and the ''Petitioner'' is not rich?

So what am I suppose to send? Bring with me? I dont have the reciept of the ring. So what else?

Substitute for "proof of engagement" the phrase, "evidence of a bona fide ongoing relationship" and you'll get the picture. They don't care about rings.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA few questions...
Hello everyone and thanks in advance for anyone who answers. Im applied for a K1 Fiance Visa. Already at the last steps, before recieving the interview date at the U.S Consular in Montreal.

1. What is exactly an '' Intent to Marry Letter'' ? What does it have to include exactly in it?

2. Evidence of Engagement to Your Fiance? What in the world is that? lol

3. They ask if I intent to work or study in the U.S? What is that about? Mine is not a work or student visa. I dont have an employee or school address for now there. I don't need one to move to the U.S. I dont have a 9-5 job. Do I have income coming in? Yes. Do I have money to pay for expanses in the U.S? Of course. Do I have a degree? Not yet Im back to school now working on that. Will I go to school there? Online probably and probably another degree and continue on the one im working on now. Will I have a job there? I might invest on something or do some real estate or get another job.

Any advice or questions you may have dont hesitate.

Thanks once again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion
Hello to everyone. Ok so Im confused about something. Before asking the question here is a bit of info about my situation. My Fiance the Petitioner is from the U.S. I'm the applicant from Canada. So I recieved packet 3. Everything done and all. Went to the site to do the DHL thingie. My consulate is Montreal. But here is one thing that confuses me so ok they asked documents to bring to the interview same asked in Form DS-156K. So will those documents come back to me before the Interview? and also where do I send all my documents and all asked in packet 3? They say thru DHL but Im confused is this the adress im suppose to send all my stuff to? : Consulate General of the United States of America. Immigrant Visa Unit. 315 Place d'Youville, Suite 500, Montreal, Quebec, Canada H2Y 0A4.

So do I go to the DHL Office and from there send my documents to that address? Thank you for your time, patience and advice.

P.S If I may ask after they refuse you when did you try again(after how long)? and why did they refuse you in the first position and what did you do to make your situation better? I hope im not being indescreet. thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions
They say lack of ties to Canada. So if you get those ties they want, you should be ok for next time entry? Yeah it does depend on the CBP Officer, and they sure abuse their power but unfortunately right or wrong they are, its their decision, you can appeal to them at a later notice but at that moment they decide your day. It sucks, its not fair, its ridiculous, its unecessary, its many things but its just the way it is. You can only learn and be more prepared and just calm and collected

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions
Hello to everyone. I have a few questions.

Has anyone ever been refused entrance twice but made it the third time with no problem? and do you have your visa now? married? all good?

Also can someone who has sent packet 3, what if since you sent those there has been some changes that were already in progress but not yet ready for packet 3, can you update it? revised it and send the forms again just updated?

Also what if they want more info out of you or I dont know they think you are not admissable for a visa, can you always make them review your case, or make a new one? or update, add more? revise?

Also how long after someone has been refused entry can they enter again? lets say they give u a reason and you have now back up. Can they always refuse entry even after you gave them what they want? and if yes why? and can you try and enter again?

Thanks

and from above : U.S.Citizenship and Immigration Services

The hand with flame does not always show in a copy. I did copies to store in an other location in case of fire. The black and white copy made at work did not show the hand and flame. If the copy is not placed careful in the machine, the top line can read what yours does.
