IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed help with this one
Thanks,
You are probably right. My husband was interviewed in Saudi Arabia, and that may have something to do with it like you said.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed help with this one
I need some help sorting this out. I contacted my Congressman concerning the delay of our visa being issued. My Congressman sent me the letter that was sent to him concerning our case from the embassy and it stated that my husband was approved for his visa and that the Embassy initiated security clearance of the case as required by the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The clearance is still pending.

I was fine with this until I checked with the US State Department to see if the Embassy had finally put information concerning our case in the registry and the answer I received was the case was under administrative review. I then asked if this meant that they were waiting for the security clearances to come back and I was told no, that it meant that the case was being reviewed at the Embassy in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, I have done some research online and found out that administrative review is not a good thing because it means either the Visa Petitioner or Beneficiary FAILED TO PASS the security name check or background check, or because the Consulate or State Department or Homeland Security NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE some issue or matter in the case more closely.

Has anyone had to go through this after your visa was approved? Or has anyone had to go through this at all and how long did it take? I was reading that it can take up to two years.

Please let me know the good and the bad.
Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview finished, issuance of visa in two weeks, no visa yet

well i know all situations are different but my husband is from jordan and he was approved for visa and was told that his passport will be mailed to him, well after two weeks, we contacted the embassy and they kept saying it has been mailed so my husband went directly to the embassy and inquired about his passport and still they insisted that it wasnt there. The embassy called Aramex (mail courier) and was informed they have not received a package) so after two hours of searching in the embassy, guess what they found????? my husband's passport. To top it off, the embassy did not even reimburse my husband the aramex fee that he paid for them to mail his passport to him. The embassy forgot to mail it and kept the money for the shipping charges! Maybe your husband can just go directly to the embassy and have them make an effort to look for his passport. Best of luck to you both and a speedy reunion!!

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem with us is that my husband paid the fee for the passport and it had already been paid earlier so they told him that he should go to the embassy to pick up his passport instead of having it mailed to him so they can give him back the money he paid by mistake. It's a real problem going to the embassy without an appointment in Riyadh. It is such a mess. I don't know if it's time to write my Congressman on this issue.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview finished, issuance of visa in two weeks, no visa yet
I am hoping that someone out there can help me out because right now I don't know what to think. My husband went through his interview in Saudi Arabia with no problem, they took his passport and said they would be calling him to come and pick it up in two weeks, and so far no call, we are now going on the 4th week. I called the embassy no one picks up the phone, or they tell you to leave a number and they never return your call. I called a number in the US that was on the travel.state.gov website and spoke to someone there and they said everything looked fine from what they could see in the system. They said since my husband didn't get a 221g it is a matter of waiting until the embassy finish their processing. Does anyone know about how long this takes? I know each case is different but it would help to hear other experiences that are similar to mine. I was really happy after the interview and now I am starting to feel down again. It seems like this circus will never end. :crying:

Thanks

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about DS-230 and more!
QUOTE (Sherri @ May 4 2008, 11:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Also...On the DS-230 they ask for my husband's parents' birthdays. When we sent in that info on the I-130 back in July we had to guess on the year because we couldn't get in touch with his parents to ask (no phones) and we had to turn in the paperwork before the rates for the I-130 went up. Now they are asking for the birthdates again. Should we find out the CORRECT years or just write what we had before so that it is consistant? Does the info. about his parents really matter?

Also, we have a problem with my husband's military service. He has his certificate of duty etc. but it has the wrong birthday on it because when he was 15 he wanted to do his military service so his parents signed that he was 18 and old enough to join the army. Now his military records say he is 3 years older than he really is. Any ideas on what to do about this? Does anyone know what year it stopped being mandatory for Paraguayans to serve in the military? If we say he never went, would they find out that he had? Should we just use his certificate as is and figure out how to explain the birthdate later? It has his picture and thumb print so it will be easy to prove that it was him, just with the wrong birthdate.

Hi, I just found out that by clicking on the country in the profile thing I could see who else was applying for that country and I noticed that your husband is from Paraguay. I am also from Paraguay and has been in the US for almost 9 years now. I was just granted the American Citizenship in May so I am really happy to be done with USCIS.
I can't help you with any of the K1 VISA questions you have but I can give my 2 cents in the above questions.
In my case, I don't think it really matter my parent's birthdates but I am not sure how if they check this in Paraguay or BS AS. My sugestion will be to put the date given in the I-130 because one thing is for sure and that is that they compare all paper work sumitted for consistency.

I am 32 and I know that the military service has always been mandatory unless you had a reason to not serve. I don't think you should lie about him never been registered and just try to explain the situation. In Paraguay is very very easy to have mistakes done by the government offices so I would say that it is easier to try and explain that a mistake was made on their part.

Good luck with everything.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFEB. I-130 APPROVED ALREADY?... FOR AN IRAC SPOUSE???
QUOTE (Uncle_Wally @ May 22 2008, 03:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Fair or unfair, I don't think getting mad about other people getting approved does much for your case. How about getting mad that YOU have NOT yet been approved? The fact that someone from Iraq gets through in 2 weeks isn't what makes the process screwed up. The process is screwed up because the average tax-paying, law-abiding working slob (most of us) has to wait about a year for some a$$hole in a USCIS office somewhere to put his coffee and donut down long enough to yank our file off a shelf and do 15 minutes worth of work on it so that we can reunite with our loved ones.
And as for Iraq, I'd expect my wife would deserve expedited treatment, too, if she risked having her house blown up should her Japanese neighbors learn that she was married to an American.

I, thoroughly agree with the writer. I've always thought myself to be a fair-minded, we are all the same, kind of person. But, having said that, I'm becoming very angry that as Americans- with all the supposed inherent freedoms-we do not have more rights than the average illegal immigrant. Most of us on here try to be together with our spouses the legal and legitimate way, and our government is discussing amnesty for those that circumvent every aspect of the system. Now I know this is a different topic than that brought up by this writer, but it is indeed in the same vein. There are many of us on VJ that have spouses from allied countries that represent absolutely no danger to US citizens. We are waiting forever. Some of us have very extenuating circumstances and still are forced to wait to have the same rights as every average American married couple. Where are our rights to the pursuit of happiness? Do we not have them because we fell in love with someone from another nation? I do think that that approval was much too fast!!! There has got to be something we are unaware of in that case. I even wonder how they can do a proper background check so very quickly on someone from a country such as Iraq that is in such turmoil and I'm sure does not have the systems in place that we do to verify such information. I'm sorry, but I'm very sad and lonely for my very proper church of England husband. We have known each other for two years and have spent a total of five and one half months together. We have been fighting this system for a long time and it seems so endless. This is the world today-many good, honest people pay for what the few bad nuts do. I could go down the street and marry some criminal and it would be legal, but we've got to fight like hell to be with someone we just happened to fall in love with from another country. This is the last of my thoughts-I feel sure that the real frauds and terrorists get through our systems with ease because they know well how to do this. The rest of us just have to endure and live in hope.

Hey everyone, I thought of something last night while i was trying to sleep and now i am a little freaked out.
When i filed my i130 i was intending to send the i129 for the k3 later. since it took 4 months to get my noa1, i thought i wouldn't bother with the i129 and just stick with the cr1.

here's my potential problem: on my G325a forms, at the bottom where it says "this form is submitted in connection..." i checked "other" and wrote "k3" in the blank.

Does anyone think this will be a problem? should i call them and tell them i made a mistake? i'd hate to think that they will let my application sit until the i129 gets there.

or (makes a wish) am i over thinking everything as usual?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone,
I see this date is finally here for me. I fully realize that this is just an estimate but i do have some questions.

1. Is there any chance of getting any real information? I remember calling every week months ago asking where is my receipt and getting nothing.

2. Will they even recognize that i am overdue? the uscis website says Aug 19. will they even consider my call or just blow me off?

3. if anyone thinks i should call, what do you suggest i say or ask? is there anything i can do to get them to actually look at my case?

For some reason i feel that calling will be another waste of my lunch hour, so please let me know what you think.

Thanks everyone!

i don't know why i bother replying to these types of questions but i feel obligated somehow. my noa1 was sent feb. 7 so that makes 125 days. if you include the time it was received that makes 223 days of nothing. no one even looked at our case yet except to receive it.
