K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate Question

Correct,

Note: send a plain photo-copy of it, USCIS does not require a certified copy or the original.

As long as there's a visible seal from the issuing authority on what you have, a copy of this certificate will do.

What about my Father's place of birth being incorrect on my Birth Certificate? Will this pose a problem?
JULIAFERNOFemaleTurkey2007-11-13 18:01:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate Question
There's been a lot of talk about what form of birth certificate the applicant should include with their I-129F petition and I want to be sure I have the right one. My birth certificate is a certified copy from the Ohio Department of Health and is a full page which includes both of my parents names, places of birth, etc. Is this the right thing to send? It's the same copy I've had all my life.

One problem - I just noticed that my father's state of birth is incorrect on my birth certificate. I didn't realize that until I recently asked him where he was born and he said Michigan (my birth certificate says Wisconsin). Maybe he was flustered and excited when he filed for my birth certificate the day I was born (his parents were living in Wisconsin at the time). blink.gif Will this be a problem? On my G-325A I state that he was born in Michigan.

Thanks for your help!

Wow, that is distressing. I hope you find a solution to this problem.

Does anyone have a list/know where to find a list of consulates that don't accept co-sponsors for K-1 visas?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTechnical question concerning G325A PDF
My fiance's address is long as well, and too-long for several of the questions even if we hand-wrote it. I created attachment sheets wherever necessary and included all of the relevant information from the question on the form. I wrote "See Attachment" in the box provided on the form and created an attachment sheet with My name (or his name for his G-325A) at the top, the Form and Question number I was answering and then the address. Make sure to sign and date and attachment sheets your provide.

Example:

[Your Name]

Form I-129F, Part B, Question 2: Address of alien fiance

Number and Street: XXX
Apt. #: X
Town or City: XXX
State or Country: XXX
Zip/Postal Code: XXX

[Signature / Date]

Just another suggestion. I'm sending my petition out in a few days, but I asked a similar question on the forum and this is what others suggested.

Good luck smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLeaving my fiance's country in 2 days...anything I should take w/ me?
Hey all - I'm heading back to the States in a couple of days and wondering if there is anything I should bring back with me other than the required documents/evidence for our I-129F petition (and of course as many hugs and kisses as I can get before I board the plane hehe).

I'm planning on sending the petition in (finally) a few days after I get home, but thought I'd double check on here and see if there is anything else from him I should get before I leave.

Thanks for the input smile.gif

I know that any documents submitted in a language other than english need to be accompanied by an english translation, but does this hold true for receipts as well? (i.e. hotel receipts, atm withdrawal receipts, etc.)

Let me know what you think!

Thanks smile.gif

Merhaba! Thanks for sharing your story. My fiance is Turkish and we are just beginning this long process - actually, I'm finally sending in my I-129F petition tomorrow morning (hooray!) I just got back last week after spending 5 months in Turkiye. What part of Turkiye are you from? Glad to hear of another Turkish/American success story! Tebrikler! smile.gif

Whew - it feels good to have that out of my hands and finally begin the wait! I showed the finished petition package to my father and he said it looked like a thesis (and he is a university professor!) I told him that it felt like I had prepared a thesis. I'm sure you all can relate smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngagement Evidence ?
Pete and I were just approved. Although most embassy's will ask different questions (all they wanted of Pete was his affadavit of support and his birth certificate)..asked him how we have kept in touch and how many times he's been here. THAT'S IT!

I sent a copy of the receipt for the ring (he purchased it over here), also pictures of us together over the past few years, copies of telephone bills, emails, cards and letters. If you follow the VJ K-1 Visa Guide under the Guides section, you can't go wrong wink.gif

Best of Luck to you!

Don't we need our NAO2 hardcopy for the interview???? Should I fill out the form for them to send another? I am really confused about this whole expiration and NAO2 thing.

Try emailing here and telling them you didn't receive your NOA2:- CSC.NoNotice@DHS.Gov

Yeah I am going to do that. I called and they basically told me that if it's floating around out there, it's my problem. So I am going to e-mail them and see what they say.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNAO2 expiration question
We got approved on August 27th 2007 for our I-129f and we still haven't recieved our NAO2 hardcopy. So I called and the lady at the service center said that they can't reissue one and blah blah. Ok fine. She also said that the case still wasn't sent to NVC but should beon its way in a couple of weeks. She then proceeded to tell me that if our consulate didn't get it in copenhagen by december 27th it would be expired and they would have to extend the petition expiration.

If it does get to copenhagen by the 27th of December like I am assuming it will, does it expire on the 27th?? Or once it gets to the consulate does that expiration go out the window?

You need NOA2 letter later for Adjustment of Status from the K-1 visa. Work on getting it now, or USCIS may ask you to file an I-824 to request a replacement later and charge a fee.

If I haven't gotten it from them shouldn't they be OBLIGATED to replace it? I mean the I-824 fee is a LOT.

I should think not (but someone correct me if Im wrong). If you had no income, then you have nothing to provide. As long as you (and a co-sponsor if you have one) can cough up evidence that you currently have enough dough to meet 125% of the poverty level, then you're fine.

On down the line, I believe the I-864 requires x number of years worth of tax returns (or maybe it was our picky consulate).

ok. Thanks so much for you help!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support Question
We got packet 3 about a week ago and I am a bit confused about some of the requirements of the affidavit of support instructions. In the instructions it says that :

The Sponsor's affidavit should include:

1. Information regarding his or her annual income
2. Where material Information regarding his or her other resources
3.Obligations for the support of of his or her own family and persons, if any
4.Other obligations and expenses
5.Plans and arrangements made for the applicants reception and support
6.An expression of willingness to deposit a bond if necessary with Immigration and Naturalization Service to guarantee that the applicant will not become a public charge

I am confused about 5 and 6 because this is the first I heard anything about puting a bond. Is this only for people who are temporary visitors to the united staes?

And what is this plans and arrangements for applicants reception and support?

Here. I just looked it up for you.

From the web pages of the Embassy in Copenhagen

..............................................

All documents that are not in their original form written in either English or Danish must be accompanied by a certified translation into English (not into Danish). In other words, original Danish documents do not need to be translated. However, original German/Farsi/etc. documents must be translated into English. All translations must be done by a person who has been authorized (by authorities in the country in which he/she works) to act as a certified translator from one specific language to another.

thank you so much!

I listed my home of record as Ohio when I sent my I-129 in. My permanent home residence is, in fact, Ohio.

However, I'm in the military and stationed in New Orleans, LA. So I've lived in New Orleans for the last couple years, but I've lived on base...paying no rent or anything. I still receive most all of my mail in Ohio.

I did not list my address in New Orleans on my application (because I don't really have one). I've also lived in an apartment in Fort Worth, TX for the military for 5 months.

None of these other addresses are listed on my app.

On all the itineraries I sent of my trips to Thailand...they all show me departing out of New Orleans airport. Will this cause any problems or anything? Could anything bad come of this?

As always...thanks for everyone's input:)

USCIS doesn't care about your point of origin. You're just proving you were in Thailand. Itineraries, however are not nearly as good as evidence as boarding passes and passport stamps.

QUOTE (YuAndDan @ Oct 5 2007, 10:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
No it wont cause problems. You did send the petition to the USCIS service center having jurisdiction over your residence in Ohio, not Louisiana?

I would definitely try. I've never encountered this myself, but Ive read on here about others with military orders being expedited very easily. But if youre not going to be sent, it's really not fair to jump ahead of the line. We all have to wait and jumping ahead puts someone else behind. My fiance and I waited 150 days for our NAO2 and that was without any problems occurring along the way.

Chris, I couldn't agree more with you. I dont want to push others behind at all. However, the Navy really wants me to go on these orders, but they are being very understanding about my situation with my fiance.

They want me to go on these orders, but they are willing to not send me to better cater to me.

They do however want to try to expedite things so that my fiance can be here and I can deploy. They want her to have my life insurance benefits and medical benefits.

I'm not trying to jump in line at all, honestly. But if they want me to deploy, I will ask for expedite on those grounds.

I currently have orders that are just "pending" and not yet official. If I have my Leading Petty Officer write a letter for expedite, will this still be grounds to expedite my K1?

Actually, my supervisor told me they wont send me on these orders with my current requests through immigration....which is pretty nice of them.

However, they really want me to go on these orders and are willing to write a letter asking for my petition to be expedited.

Do you think such a request in writing will be approved???

I guess what I'm more asking is...do you think they monitor this site to obtain information for particular cases or do you think they utilize information they find here for adjudication?

No, absolutely not. First, it would be incredibly difficult to tie a username to an actual case. And second, it would be illegal as all get out. They are required to follow a certain set of procedures and protocols, and that doesn't include anything obtained from VJ or Google or anything else.

I sure hope not...I know i've definitely done some "venting" on here and had some choice words about the length of waiting for approval...haha
