Write it where the instructions tell you to write it........on the back of the check.
The actual check will not be deposited in the bank. It will be changed to an A C H
Transaction.......just like when you pay bills online. You will not see a copy of the

US Citizenship General DiscussionGuests for Oath ceremony in Indianapolis
My oath letter said 8:30, but the judge didn't convene the court til 10:30. He was very accommodating, and guests were allowed to take pictures during the ceremony. He even posed with individuals after the oath. The local news station recorded the ceremony, and did a few interviews afterwards. I can't speak for your location, but from what I have read, the oath ceremony is usually a solemn but happy occasion. Guests should arrive as close as possible to the appointed time, but I don't think they would be turned away if they arrived a bit later.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 February 2014 Filers

According to USCIS Early Filing Calculator, my wife can submit the N-400 package on 25 Feb, but I think we will wait until the week of 3-7 March. Good luck to all of us. Think we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hope it's not a train headed our way! Are there any of you in the New Orleans Service Area?

US Citizenship General Discussioncould something go wrong....
My wife passed her interview in June, and the three months after that until her oath ceremony were the longest three months of our lives. I know hindsight is 20/20, but the best advice I can give anyone at this stage is just to hang in there. You're almost to the finish line. Congrats on your accomplishment!

You are 99% finished. Don't stress. Sit back and be patient. I know you want to be finished with USCIS once and for all, but worrying won't do you and your family any good. RELAX!

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 - JANUARY 2014 FILERS

Daddeee, where do you live? Noticed from your timeline, you picked your wife up in New Orleans. We live in Mississippi (gulf coast), and will be filing my wife's N-400 next month. I haven't noticed any reviews about USCIS Metairie (Louisiana).  Hope eveything goes smoothly The check should be for $680 dollars ($595 filing fee and $85 for the biometrics). We will be using USPS to send the package.

US Citizenship General DiscussionWaiting for oath letter in New Orleans

I had my interview on July 1 passed, no oath letter yet
How long does it takes in New Orleans anybody with expurience

My wife passed her interview in Metairie on June 2. Did an infopass after 51 days just to check the status of her case. They told her that nothing else was required from her. She was told that because she required a name change, a judicaial ceremony would probably be held in Hattiesburg, MS. in September. USCIS is moving from Metairie to the Poydras Building (behind the Superdome), and will be closed from 15 to 20 August. Nothing to do but wait as New Orleans has a 7.1 month processing time. Keep in touch, as you are the first poster we have seen from New Orleans.

Sure would like to see some dates being posted in the "Oath" column. My wife is still stuck on the blue Interview and testing ball on the USCIS website. Seems like us March filers hit a wall after the interview. Keeping my fingers crossed for us all that we will see some movement soon!

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 March 2014

Today marks 3 weeks since my wife's interview in New Orleans. Hope to hear something this week. Still stuck in "interview and testing". After her interview she was told it would be 2 to 3 weeks to hear something back from USCIS, and she was hoping for a July 4th Oath Ceremony, but looks like that is not going to happen. Now I would be happy for anytime in July. She doesn't have any immediate travel plans, but the waiting is crazy!

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 March 2014

At my wife's interview the IO swore her in, and then started going over the N-400 (name, address, email, etc.....and the yes/no questions. She had her read a short sentence, and then write "We have 100 senators". She asked 6 questions taken from the USCIS booklet you should have received at your biometrics. That was it. Took about 15 minutes from start to finish. Go over the N-400, study the 100 questions, and try not to stress yourself too much!

Wow Congratulations to those who already had their Oath ceremony and finally done  And Congrats and good luck to those who got upcoming interviews.  Me, It's been 3 weeks since my interview and no news yet for my Oath schedule. I noticed that nobody yet from the Texas lock box updated their Oath ceremony date

The IO told me that it would be 2 to 3 weeks before I would get my oath date. It has been 16 days today since my interview. Nothing we can do but wait!

Passed my interview this morning!! I arrived at 8:40 for my 9:00 appointment, dropped my appointment letter through a slot in the door, and sat in the waiting area to be called. My name was called by the IO at 9:25, and she got right down to business. She swore me in, and asked for my green card, passport, and driver license. We spent about 5 minutes going over the N-400. Then we got into the civics test:

What is the "rule of law"?

How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?

What major event happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States?

What ocean is on the West Coast of the United States?

Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

What is the name of the national anthem?

Then she asked me to read a short sentence (can't remember what is was right now)

Then she had me write:   We have 100 senators.

I signed the N-400 in 2 places (normal signature), and the 2 pictures I submitted with my N-400 package.

She gave me the N-652 (Naturalization Interview Results) form with 2 blocks checked in red ink........."You passed the tests of English and U.S. history and government", and "CONGRATULATIONS! Your application has been recommended for approval"

ONE MORE STEP..............OATH TAKING CEREMONY!!

Hello, today I received a yellow letter titled "This is not an interview notice".

They ask me to bring documents to the interview:

--> State-issued driver's license

-- > Past 3 years income taxes

--> Proof of termination of all previous marriages

For the 2 first ones ok but for the 3rd one, I sent all of those documents with my N400, I don't have a 100 copies and I am pretty sur that I sent the last ones to them.

What should I do, is everybody receiving this yellow letter previous to the interview notice?

I received a yellow letter about 10 days after I received my interview letter. All they recommended that I bring to the interview was my current and expired passports. Did you send in the original(s) with your N-400 package?

Biometrics completed today at USCIS New Orleans (Metairie). We arrived about 30 minutes early for my 2:00 P.M. appointment and the place was very crowded. Metairie holds Oath Taking Ceremonies every Wednesday. My husband and I were pleased that we were allowed to stay and watch the Ceremony. 49 new citizens from 26 countries were sworn in, and I was very impressed. Hopefully, I will be standing there taking my oath in the next 2 or 3 months. Before the Ceremony all the applicants lined up to proof read and sign their certificates. They turned in their green cards and then went back to their assigned seats. One of the USCIS officers sang the National Anthem followed by a few remarks from the Regional Director. Then the applicants were sworn in. We watched a televised welcome speech by Obama, then we all sang Lee Greenwood's "I'm Proud to be an American" Representatives from the Dept of State Passport Office were there along with another table for voter registration (League of Women Voters). Everyone from USCIS was very polite and helpful. My Biometrics took about 5 minutes, but we stayed until the Oath Ceremony was completed. No problem taking cell phones, cameras, kids, relatives. Casual dress was the norm.....slacks and a blouse for the ladies. Only 2 or 3 wore dresses.

My USCIS website status has 6 categories: Acceptance, Initial Review, Testing and Interview, Decision, Post Decision Activity, and Oath Ceremony. I am in Initial Review now, and it probably won't change until sometime after my Biometrics are finished.

Think we are all pretty much according to schedule so far. The wait begins between  Biometrics and Interview (depending on the Application Support Center, and FBI). According to USCIS website New Orleans is a full month behind the national average.
