IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

I received a approval letter yesterday. It says " It has been approved and have sent to NVC". Did they really send my application to NVC? I am not sure. Does anyone of your letter say the same thing and been forwarded to NVC?

Yes, mine said the case had been sent to the NVC.......that was in November........If you don't receive a case number within a FEW DAYS, you can be sure that your approved petition was in fact NOT sent to the NVC. I hope USCIS has finally gotten a handle on the "unforeseen circumstances" they were experiencing, and you will receive your case number shortly.

I-797C, Notice of Action (NOA2) is an actual letter received by the petitioner in the mail. It is printed on the same security paper as the I-797C, Notice of Action (NOA1). In the Notice Type block it will say "Approval Notice". I received mine in the mail from TSC on 11/23, but, as we all know, didn't mean much until I received the email from USCIS in February stating that my case had been forwarded to NVC.

Question to ppl who have started NVC: on the AOS, do I put the case # on the corner of each sheet of the form? (I'm keeping myself distracted by making sure everything on the forms is perfect!)

I'm using the I-864EZ form. Instructions say if you need additional sheets, put your name, SSN, and Form I-864EZ on the top. NVC Case Number is not mentioned in the instructions at all.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues
I went through basically same scenario. I received my I-797C Approval Notice in the mail back in November with approval date of 11/23. I called NVC dozens of times, but kept getting "we have no record........" I talked to a phone rep numerous times, and they told me to scan my I-797C and send it as an attachment to an email to NVC. DID THAT! I then put in a service request one month after receiving my hardcopy NOA2, and received a letter from USCIS stating that my petition had been approved, BUT was not finished "processing". So, I waited for the next 77 days until I received an email from USCIS stating that my approved or re-affirmed petition had been sent to the NVC. That was on 8 Feb. I called NVC on the 12th, and to my surprise, the phone robot gave me the NVC case number. So, 80 days after I had already received my hardcopy of my I-797C approval notice, I got my case number.

No you have to wait until :innocent:  payment
and you have a case number from NVC
Good Luck

As long as you have your case number, you can use the email template and send DS3032. I called NVC this morning, and they said my invoice I.D. number would be assigned "shortly". When I get that I will be able to pay the $88.00 AOS, and the $404.00 IV bill online. Trying to be proactive. Praying that all us TSC hostages will be approved and zip right through NVC!!

hello Friends:)

at last i'm on this thread.

I have a question guys, i was approved last Feb 11, 2011 how would i know that my papers are ship to NVC?
thanks

NVC will assign a case number when they receive your petition from USCIS. Give it 3 or 4 days, and call NVC at (603) 334-0700. In my case I received an email from USCIS stating that my petition was approved on the 8th, and had been sent to the NVC. I called NVC on the 12th, and the phone robot gave me my case number, and said that it had been assigned on the 11th.

79 days today since my NOA2 on 11/23. Still looking for NVC case number. When I finally do get the case number, it will really screw up Saylin's "average" on the spreadsheet.

Finally got the affirmation email that my case had been shipped to the NVC, and the blue dot on the USCIS website moved to post decision activity. As most of you know I received the hardcopy of my NOA2 on 11/23, but I think this time it is for real!!! I will call NVC in the next day or two. Hoping to hear I have a case number. I went through the drill of waiting 15 business days, scanned my NOA2, sent it to NVC, blah, blah, after my petition was supposedly approved back in November. Now, 77 days later, I hope this latest email is for real!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues
Don't compute time-line from my experience. I received my hard-copy of NOA2 in the mail on 11/29. (approved on 11/23). It said: "The above petition has been approved. We have sent the original visa petition to the Department of State, National Visa Center (NVC)...............". I waited until Monday after Thanksgiving, and gave NVC a call (one of many). Nothing!! NVC told me to wait 15 business days. I did. Still nothing. On 12/22, I called USCIS, and a tier 2 (human) took all my info, and said he would send an email in an effort to find out what was going on with my case. About a week later I received a letter from TSC dated 11/23 which stated: "Your application was ordered approved in November; however, the processing is not complete. The application has not been transferred to the National Visa Center, and the approval letter has not been sent. A request has been made to the adjudicating officer to complete the processing of this application." SO, here I sit, 76 days since my NOA2, and still no NVC case nr. My status on the USCIS website has not changed from Initial Review.

Customer service woman just told me to wait 90 days after approval.
Sooo one more month of waiting. My husband has to get his military record next week so I'm not in a super hurry but..I don't know...I mean I don't have any high expectations for TSC for getting our petitions out of their offices and into the hands of NVC!

Only 22 more days until the 90 days are up since my NOA2.

I would gladly volunteer to drive to Mesquite, Texas, and deliver the approved petitions to Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

EGUZI,
from your response, now I am confident that we can not do anything before 90 days. it is going to be another three or four months added to i-130 NOA2 before our case reach nvc. it is so sad that CSC cases only takes 10 days to reach nvc but TSC cases forever. We are now caugth between nvc and uscis and both don't take any responsibility. it means that for long time we have to just call nvc and listen to nvc AVR that we have no record of your case!!!!!

My 90 days will be up on 02/23/2011, but I am hoping every day that I will receive a text or email from USCIS saying that my case has finally been forwarded to NVC. I have had the NVC paperwork prepared for quite some time now. It is inconceivable that USCIS would need to "finish processing" an approved petition.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC to TSC to NVC: the Saga continues

I just called NVC and I said my case approved Jan, 13, 2011. she said that read your approval notice. I read the part that says I need to wait 90 days so she said "you need to wait 90 days". I told her everybody get NVC case number in 10 days why should I wait 90 days?? she replied those are special cases, you have to wait 90 days. I said thanks for your information!!!!!
so I wait few more days and call back again, hope next time a nice person answer my phone call.

It all depends on who you talk to as to what they tell you. I was told 90 days, 15 business days, 3 to 6 weeks.......and the list goes on and on. The fact remains that USCIS has not transferred my approved petition to the NVC. It took at least a dozen phone calls and emails before I finally realized that TSC is hosed!!! NVC can't process what they don't have. While receiving my NOA2 hardcopy in the mail was GREAT, that feeling has turned to despair after 67 days waiting for TSC to "finish processing my petition". Guess we have to keep our eyes on the prize at the end of the journey; knowing that someday we will all be reunited with our families. My wife and I can (and will get through this), but it is so hard when my daughters keep asking me "why is this taking so long for mommie"? I sometimes ask myself why do we need borders, passports, visas, etc....We are all God's children just trying our best to stay alive with some measure of happiness for ourselves and our families. Although our spouses are from different countries, I feel you guys here on this thread are part of my extended family. Keep the faith, and my wife and I will be praying for all of US.

Hi, Dan! Are they *still* telling you that your case needs additional review??? That makes me nervous for the rest of us!

Yay, Skynaut!

If you don't have a case # within 15 business days from your I-797C approval notice, NVC will tell you to send them a copy as an attachment to an email to nvcresearch@state.gov. After I sent NVC a copy of my NOA2, I called USCIS, and they sent me a letter stating that my case had been "ordered approved in November, BUT was still being processed, and that a request had been sent to the adjudicator to finish processing my case." thanks - it's going to be a really tough one for us. they want to see records of my husband's marriage and divorce from the state of alaska going back many years. we have already tried to apply to their records dept for copies of these records but they came back with no trace for both events. So where does that leave us? it's not looking good and we don't don't know where to turn to for help. we have tried all kinds of searches with no results. we will try again but who knows... feeling very low right now. hope you get through your rfe issues. good luck

I'm sure your husband already tried, but I know in California, if a divorce is older than a certain number of years (30 yrs I think), you have to go to the ARCHIVES. In San Diego County after a certain nr of years the records are no longer kept in the local court records of where the divorce took place, but are archived to Central Records downtown San Diego. If the State of Alaska does not have the records, you might try to get a notarized statement of that from them.

"Politico reported Friday morning (Feb 18th) that a top aide to Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi told colleagues at a meeting that a government shutdown is more likely than not, which kicked off a discussion about preparations."

great....our visa journey is going to get even harder. Do as much as you can, while you can.

More "positioning" from our elected representatives so the DEMS can blame the REPS (and vis-versa) for causing the shutdown. When, and if, it comes to that, Congress will pass emergency legislation to extend the deadline. BUT, just in case the unthinkable happens, you're right; get as much done as we can!!

Why do I need IIN?

You need IIN to log onto the online payment portal. When you log on, they require the case # and the IIN. Then you can pay your AOS (88.00) and IV (404.00). When they are marked PAID, you can then mail them in to the NVC. Be sure to print out the Barcoded Cover Document.

Dantes :)
sorry if i have so many questions....

Does it mean that when you send the DS-3032 you just used the VJ's link and directly copy it in the email (literally on the box where we write for our emails) and no need to use Microsoft word and attach the the DS-3032?

Using the email template as a "guide", I typed the email, (using my wife's email address), plugged in all required info, and sent it to nvcinquiry@state.gov. I sent it on 02/12, and received email acceptance from NVC on 02/16. It does work. I have not finished my AOS stuff yet. Online Invoice still says "in process", but $88.00 was debited from my checking account today. As soon as it is marked "paid" I will print the receipt / instructions. Looks like you are on track with the cover letter. I have a full week-end ahead getting my AOS ready for mailing.

Hi Dantes,
based on on your experience the safest date for us to call at NVC and get the NVC number will be on Monday? ( wait! is it holiday on Monday? pls not huhu )
I have a question regarding the DS 3032, if you use the format from VJ do you still need to sign it? if am going to sign it i'll be needing to scan it? And who is the petitioner? you or your wife? In my case I'm the beneficiary so will i use my email or my husband's email in sending the DS3032 ( I also have an access to my husband's email )
Thanks for the information Dantes :)

I am the petitioner. As soon as I got the NVC case number, I used my wife's email account to send in the DS-3032. I didn't want to confuse NVC by sending it from my account. Go to the shortcut link here on VJ. Just plug in the data, and send it to nvcinquiry@state.gov. You don't have to sign anything; no scanning; nothing. I wasn't 100% sure it would work; but it did. My wife got the email response from NVC today telling her that her agent of choice (me) had been accepted. In fact, I don't think my wife has even read the email yet.

HI Guys :) :) :)

I was approved Feb 11 and few hours ago i received an email from USCIS stating " On feb 16, 2011, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Dept of State for visa........
My question is for those who received this email before me and got their NVC number, how many days before u had your NVC number from the time of this email?
Also i think XELANCE also got this today (feb 16), when do you expect to call NVC and have your NVC number?
Thanks guys...I'll just read your messages later when i got home :) :) :)

I received the email on 02/08, and case number generated on 02/11. Things move quickly at NVC. I just received an email (on my wife's account) stating that NVC had received and accepted the DS-3032. I used the email template found here on VJ, and it worked!! I have access to my wife's email, and I sent the DS-3032 on 02/12 right after I received the case number from the phone robot.

Looks like TSC has finally gotten it's act together. Surely the spreadsheet will be filled with approvals by the end of Feb, or first week in March. BUT, don't celebrate just yet. Although getting the NOA2 is indeed a MAJOR milestone, it is not, by no means, the end of our journey. TomJoyce, Eguzi and I were the first ones to receive our NOA2's from TSC back in November, only to feel the joy turn to despair. So far, only 4 of the petitions have reached the NVC. Although I do feel more confident, since receiving the email from USCIS a couple of nights ago, that my case has indeed been shipped to the NVC, it is a WAIT AND SEE attitude that I have developed over the past 80 days since receiving my NOA2 stating that my petition had been sent to the NVC. I am not trying to put a damper on your joy at this great news, but the elation of getting the NOA2 will quickly fade if we don't see more NVC CASE NUMBERS!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPhysical exam at St. Lukes, Manila Philippines

My wife just completed her 2-day physical exam ordeal at St. Lukes only to find out she has a "spot" on her X-ray and someone at the hospital now tells her that they will email the Embassy to cancel our July 1 interview date. She's told she has to go back 3 times next week, all for additional checks and tests (apparently for TB). As we're both obviously very disappointed and somewhat confused as what to do next, I'd be curious to hear from others who ended up in the same situation; how long can we expect the treatment to take if she's diagnosed with TB? Does the interview get scheduled during treatment or after treatment is verified completed? I never realized TB is such a deal breaker if that is what she has. I recall an American doctor in the Philippines telling me he thought the majority of Filipinos would test positive for TB antibodies. My wife has never been sick, never had even a cough... thanks, Chris

As you can see from my timeline, my wife had to undergo the 3 day sputum smear test, and then wait for 2 months for the sputum culture results. It is definitely the most nerve wracking experience we had with the whole immigration process. IF she had been positive on the 2 month culture she would have had to undergo DOT (directly observed therepy) at St. Luke's. This would entail moving to Manila so she could go to St.Luke's daily to take the TB medication for 6 months. Luckily, her 3 smears and the 2 month culture were negative. We did the medical as soon as I knew her NVC case number, so the 2 month culture was finished before her interview. Even at that, we were cutting it real close. She got her results on the 10th and went to the interview on the 11th. Stay positive and PRAY. Everything will work out for you in the long run. My wife received her 10 year green card in the mail yesterday. Thank God we are finished with immigration until 2014 when she can apply for U.S. Citizenship.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI just received an email from NVC. The subject is "checklist cover letter".

The email content :

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of application for an immigrant visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required information.

it is also including
Priority date : 28JUN2010
(what is the date refer to?)

Instructions
Immigrant Visa Application : The NVC has received the requested affidavit of support form (I-864) for this case. However, we are still waiting for the Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230) and corresponding civil documents for each travelling applicants.
(I sent I-864 on May 20, and sent DS-230 on May 25 by USPS, but my husband lost the tracking number so we can't tracking it.)

What should I do now? Should I reply the email to NVC explain that I have sent the DS-230 and documents. Or should I call the NVC? Or maybe I just have to wait until Jun 28? I really confuse now.

Any suggestion or maybe advice would be so much help for me. Thank you.

You sent it. They got it. Relax and wait for SIF and CC.

What kind of proof will be expected if a couple marries in the judges office and does not have a church wedding with allot of people present. What kind of pictures will be considered proof of the couple getting married?

No two cases are ever the same. We had a civil ceremony in the Mayor's office with photos of us and our sponsors signing the marriage contract. My wife took a small suitcase of pictures, documents, etc to the interview, and only thing the CO laughingly asked her was "Why did it take you so long to apply for a visa?" I lived in the Philippines for 19 years, and we were married 11 years before we decided to move back to the States with our two daughters.

The 260 is the "online" version of the 230. Only selected embassies are currently using the 260. Think you will use the 230. Others can correct me if I'm wrong. Good luck with the rest of your journey. It is well worth the waiting when it is over.

Typically the Embassy will tell the NVC how many slots they have open for any given month, and for IR1/CR1, the NVC will then schedule the interview accordingly. At least that is the way it works in Manila.
