US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPre K1 visa interview packets!
Thank you for responding. My I134 and supporting documents as well as the intent marries should be there by friday. I did email the consulate friday so will give them another day or so to respond. Interview is next Thursday so I'm alittle concerned. Will accompany my next email with a scanned copy of Packet for interview info. If I don't here back of course .

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPre K1 visa interview packets!

I the petitioner received packet 4 in the mail in the US (May 6) it has pre interview/appointment instructions and interview date May 22nd. My fiancé never received anything from the embassy Ethiopia? It's my understanding that she should have received a preinterview packet 3. She and I have both called the US embassy...have been directed to email them, and they haven't responded (5 days). I sent my fiancé packet 4 and she was able to do her physical and get her police certificate. Does anyone know if there is something specific that I need in packet 3( additional forms etc.) or is it just instructions? Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionExpedite while waiting for interview? (split topic)

More or less 7 days

Thanks for the answer. It's been 10 days since I submitted the request and 3 days since the NVC sent me an email requesting 2 foreign phone numbers so they can complete the expedite request. I guess I should be hearing something soon.

Do you at least know how long it takes to get the email notifying me weather they accepted or denied the expedite request?

I have the same issue except I have been waiting 8 months for an interview since the NVC finished processing my wife's case. It's because in Yemen they have a big backlog of cases. Any good reasons I can use as a expedite??

CanadaCR-1 endless questions

Technically every-time one returns to Canada, the clock is re-set--BUT if they think your spending too much time in the USA--they can deny one entry into the USA.

I've gotten mixed info on this, as to whether Canadians can spend up to six months at a time or six months out of a year as a maximum. Does anyone have a link to some sort of government page that would have this info?

CanadaCR-1 endless questions
Hey everyone, hoping to get some answers to the many, many questions I have.

My Canadian wife and I got married in June 2011 and I filed the I-130 shortly after moving to the USA in September 2011.
We haven't always been the fastest at returning the various requests for stuff along the way, but now we are, I think, in the last stages of the NVC stuff before the Montreal consulate gets her case.

Basically I'm trying to figure out a way for my wife and I to be separated as little as possible while we wait for her visa application to finish.

Currently we're waiting on her police report - local police said it would be about 10 to 20 days, and it's been about 10 business days now so we could have another 2 weeks to wait.

From what I can gather, once we send this final information off to the NVC (police report, passport, birth certificate, etc), they will take a couple of weeks to review and then pass the case on to the Montreal consulate, who will then take 2 to 4 months to schedule an interview.

So we're looking at at least another 3 to 5 months right now, correct?

In retrospect I feel like we should have gotten my wife to the US and filed an I-485, but at the time it seemed like a better idea to process in Canada due to cost and other things.

Is there any way, at this point in the process, to switch to an adjustment of status rather than consular processing so that my wife and I don't have to be separated for that much longer? Would that delay the process substantially?

My wife visited and stayed in the US with me for a little less than 4 months on a tourist visa, which means that she can't visit again for more than 2 months or so and might have trouble at the border if the officers think she might be trying to stay - she was denied entry to the US back in March because the officers thought she was trying to illegally immigrate, though she tried again in August and was able to enter the US and stayed until we both came back to Canada in December.

Is there a way to extend the tourist visa limitation so she can stay in the US until her interview in Montreal? Is she likely to get denied entry into the US again (even though she clearly has to return to Canada to finish her consular processing whatnot)? Would there be anything wrong with her visiting for another 2 months (as long as the total time spent in the US is less than 6 months)?

I think that's all I have for now, I really appreciate anyone who's read this far and can help us out at all. I realize that there would be answers to some or all of these questions on these forums but whenever I try to do any research myself I end up with a lot more new questions and a headache.

Many, many thanks!

USCIS Service CentersVSC easily two months ahead of CSC at this point...
Not exaggerating. Check Igor's timeline.

It's awesome for the VSC people getting approved in less than 6 months, but man, CSC is just killing us here....

USCIS Service CentersCSC TIMING
Greenshoots, we're CSC filers from August 6th about to hit Day 226. I hope yours is approved quickly, but I personally have no faith in the process...7-8 months is my guess.

USCIS Service CentersIs Csc even open?.....
If you check the timeline, VSC is now processing a lot of Late August/Early September filings, where CSC is still dilly-dalling around with people from July and August. They don't seem to have cracked into August much at all.

USCIS Service CentersIs Csc even open?.....
Our wait is going to be 7 months as of this Wednesday. 6 months used to be a long time. Unfortunately, people at CSC are now waiting more like 7-8 months. Wish I had better news. We're dying over here...

USCIS Service CentersWhere are You All?
237 days for us. We are praying for April, but given that CSC has done nothing for K-1 visas in literally the last 3 months, we aren't holding our breath.

This process should be 3-4 months max. Waiting 8 months is absolutely obscene. Yet we are going to hit 8 months next Saturday.

We're past the point of frustration. We've entered a zone of utter despair.

There's still a slew of people from the last half of July that haven't been approved yet. They've been sitting on them for months and months...

USCIS Service Centershow long has csc operated at 5 months noa2 prior to the coma they are in
EegyptA,

We're right there with you, my friend. We have your same NOA1 date at CSC (August 6th) and it's time to take some action. I wrote my congressman last week, and will follow up with a senator next week. Congressman wrote me back and regurgitated the same info. that CSC has been telling us for the past 4 months. He was friendly and said he would inquire again in two weeks, but CSC is simply not processing cases any any acceptable level of speed.

We are going to hit 8 months this Saturday (the both of us) and there simply seems to be no end in sight.

Let me know how it goes for you. I actually live in California, so no doubt, the states offices are likely being inundated with complaints, casework requests, etc.

At the moment, it would help to be living in Montana or Wyoming or something. ;)

Good luck to you! As I'm sure you realize, even at 5 months processing time, we have now been delayed by essentially 3 months...

Thanks!

Bayareaguy,

We're all screwed.

USCIS Service Centers12:00am on 4/6. It's our 8-month "anniversary"...
Azsara,

Shocking, but all-too-common. I can't speak for VSC because I'm not tracking their data, but on Igor's timeline alone there are dozens of people still waiting from July and August, and it hasn't moved in the last 3-4 months. CSC simply isn't processing anything now, other than a few random ones that pop up on the VJ timelines a few times/week.

USCIS Service Centers12:00am on 4/6. It's our 8-month "anniversary"...
....of waiting for NOA2 from CSC

Sent out on 8/2. NOA1 was processed on 8/6.

And here we are...8 months later...with no sign, trace, or inkling of evidence that this period of waiting is ever going to end.

This will ruin any summer plans we have of traveling or doing anything. We'll be apart.

If only we knew that filing in August was going to screw us for a year, we would have done it a bit earlier. Would've been impossible to know though.

8 months. How much longer will it be? + 2-3 months to the interview + the time my partner will need to quit her job and move her life to the US.

I know that most people are right there with me, but this just royally sucks.

USCIS Service CentersVSC to CSC NOA2 approval ratios, as per VJ...
Out of the last 50 couples that have been approved with NOA2s on VJ, just 8 of them have come from CSC

42:8 That's quite the ratio of slow, painful torture for all of us CSC folks.

USCIS Service CentersGot through to Tier 2 ISO today at USCIS...
Waited 10 minutes for Tier 1...asked to be transferred to a Tier 2...then waited for another 45 minutes.

The second the ISO picked up the call, the first thing he said was, "I would like to inform you that during to high call volume, we will have to have an officer call you back in the next 48-72 hours."

My mouth just dropped.

1. Will this ever actually happen?

2. Do you think that perhaps the Tier 2s could communicate with Tier 1s, so that they don't put people on hold for close to an hour, only to be told that they can't talk to you once the Tier 2s pick up?

USCIS Service Centerstrying to understand the CSC
I highly doubt that all of the last 8-9 CSC approvals were all expedites..all from the same days and time periods? How?

I'm happy for anyone that can escape the wrath of CSC as quickly as possible, but I can't say that it doesn't burn when I see people applying from the same applicant country that I am and are getting approved TODAY, with a NOA1 date of almost FOUR MONTHS after us.

I mean, #######???

USCIS Service CentersCSC K1's delayed at least two months
I called CSC yesterday and was told by an officer on the phone that CSC was now working on July 17th cases...this seems to have been at a bit at a standstill over the past month. All we can hope for is that they start processing the rest of July people here and move onto August, September, etc.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaK1 visa in Rio: Email is it Packet 3 & 4?

The embassy doesn't send letters in the mail for K1 visa. They just send e-mails.

After the interview you need to pay for the courier fee and then they will mail to you the passport and the envelope. My visa arrived just over 1 week from the interview in my house.
