I just sent back the DS-230 Part 1 and notification of readiness even though the consulate *forgot* to tell me to send that back! Its a good thing VJ exists or we'd all be quite lost. There are some other forms in there (DS-156. DS-156K, Supplement to DS-156 and DSL-1083) as well as instructions, but I'm assuming I have to fill those out and take them to the interview since they have to be signed in front of the Consular officer. Again, the Consulate hasn't alerted me to this. I think that the DS-156 has to be done in duplicate, which they also have neglected to tell me. The Lady that was checking me was so nice! Everything is fine and the documents are getting send to the embassy in Germany now (also in Frankfurt) I am truely so happy!! X-ray, vaccinations, everything is good :-) And we were getting last Friday our NOA2 hardcopy in mail and the USCIS was changing our status online, also on Friday, that it is getting shipped to NVC now!! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2013 K-1 Filers	You both are absolutely right.  I have no idea what it's like to wait months on end with no updates regarding my case.  I would probably be just sd anxious and frustrated.  Yes, everyone's situation is different and we are all here to support one another and we are all happy when someone else gets an approval, but I am just saying there are some people who may have unrealstic expectations because of the many fast approvals they are seeing.  I thanked my lucky stars when our application was approved months before I expected it too, but I got lucky and I know that it's not the usual processing time.  You are right that I don't know your frustration of waiting that long, but we are all going through the process.  My point really was that people need to stay positive through this long ordeal.  Yes, it's trying and yes it's demoralizing sometimes, but you gotta just be patient and be positive.   I completely agree with Trisha, its easier to say that when you already have your NOA2 and the rest of your process is moving along, you already know the case is moving ahead, but when you just sit and wait and have no idea why the other cases grt approved much much faster especially the ones that got approved in just 6 weeks, thats when it gets harder, cause every time someone gets approved There comes hope for us. I know it is a test for two people that love each other and wanna be together but not every one is strong enough to handle the separation. People are different, they live in different countries different worlds where even to use skype on a computer the have to go to an internet cafe or ask their neighbors, or other situations. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2013 K-1 Filers	Congratulations!  You had very realistic expectations and I think that's really important.  A lot of people see the speed at which other applications are being processed and they get depressed when their application isn't processed in the time frame.  It is most certainly frustrating and I wish things would speed up, but as someone's soon to be mother in law said, this is a testament to each couple's love and strength.  It is icing on the cake that you are all finished with the process earlier than your expected time.  Good luck the rest of the process and Congrats again!!!     For those are still waiting for their application to go through, I wish you best of luck!  Like what my future mother in law said: Your relationship is being tested, and once you go through this process your bond will be stronger.  On the other hand, we do have technologies available to us now-a-days people didnt have before that allow us to do facetime/skype video chat, rather than phone calls and waiting weeks for physically mailed pictures and letters.   When I was working on K-1 application in late July, my lawyer told me a minimum of 9-12month of wait, with heavy emphasis on 12 month.  I felt bad for weeks after that. I used the visual tools available on VisaJourney, and pinned my timeframe to 7-9 month(by looking at 2012 stats on CA center during the same timeframe).  That will be roughly March-April 2014.  After I applied in August, I booked 3 trips to see and to travel with my baby in China in early Sept, Thanksgiving(Late Nov), and Christmas(late Dec). Thinking about booking a 4th trip targeting around Feb to April.   We were extremely lucky, our application was processed by the CA center, and they were much faster than this time (Aug-Oct) last year.  Before Sept trip, I received an RFE, that told me my application is being worked on.  Then was approved right after that trip.  App approval (NOA2) left alot of questions, because I had no way of knowing which stage of the process I was in(is it stuck in US, is it being mailed to embassy, etc etc).  Plus my lawyer told me his job is done. I used many previous forum posts from this website to guide me through this period.  I was very nervous, mostly because of the native Chinese characters address I had to put on the application may not be correctly interpreted by the embassy.  For those that live in Asia, you know address can be very tricky, unlike the very uniformed address system in USA.  Because of the much much earlier approval than anticipated timeframe, I was able to plan my trips differently.   Before Nov trip, my baby got the physical packet 3, that was a huge relief(address was correct).  During the Nov trip, she got an email Packet 4.  That allowed her to schedule her interview in Dec.   My Dec trip involved picking up her passport with her (did that at a bank in China), and that was the second best day I had during the whole process, first being approved during in person interview at embassy.   I came back from my 3rd trip on Jan 6.  As I am writing this (Jan 10, 2014, 7am PST)  My baby is on a flight arriving at SFO very shortly. Yes still waiting for our NOA2, we approached 5 months on January 7, Called USCIS to request service, they said that regular processing time is not 5 months, its usually 6-7. And to wait untill atleast 6 months period is over, then to call back and request servise on my case, which will take another 2-4 weeks. Its unbelievable it got me all pissed off..... !!! Thursday!! My Fiance will be there with me so it makes it so much better!!     Interview in 11 hours. 15 hours to be exact. Document submission in the morning and then interview in the afternoon. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2013 K-1 Filers	Hello Everyone, I have a question and wonder how others are handling this.  When in the K1 process do you all feel it is safe to set a wedding date, meaning things like putting down a deposit on a venue, and letting others make travel plans? Obviously we want to plan as far ahead as possible but also don't want to risk a nightmare either.    Doesn't this part suck!  It is really hard for me because all of the wedding venues I wanted kept getting booked up and I couldn't make a commitment until the VISA was issued.  I always fear the worst and did not want to risk losing a deposit.  But, I actually put down a deposit this week on a venue that I really like and can actually afford.  They are so busy and only had 3 saturdays available until Nov next year, so I did not want to chance it and booked one of those saturdays (the only one left in the summer) because the venue was confident that they would book those remaining dates fairly soon.  In the end, I just didn't want to chance losing out on a venue that I really like if FI does get his VISA.  It's a risk I'm taking, but it's worth it.  As for everything else, I'm holding off on telling anyone about the wedding or telling those that know to make any solid plans.  Once we get the VISA, it will be full fledged wedding planning.  Although, I have bought my dress already.  This doesn't mean you can't start thinking about wedding ideas, gather information or ask a hotel to hold rooms for your wedding party, but I wouldn't put any hard money down until you get confirmation.  That's just my two cents, ultimately, it's up to you.	meuy99	Female	South Africa	2013-11-16 12:44:00

I'm truly starting to hope we could be back as soon as the end of the year!   Have you tried calling them?   I haven't tried because of the time difference, although I suppose I can have my fiance try, but sadly, I don't quite trust him to get it done (only because I don't think he's aggressive enough or know how to push for an answer) and I'm a control freak.  But I'll have to give in if we won't hear anything by next week and have him call.  I don't even know why I'm rushing because we're waiting on his passport and that's gonna take1-2 months anyways.    I hope you get a speedy interview date and will be with your loved one before end of year too!!!	meuy99	Female	South Africa	2013-11-08 18:45:00

For more information, please contact them directly.    Can't wait for them to send it to the consulate in Naples, we're soooooo over this!   Well, I'm with you!  I'm so over this process!  Our case was received at the Consulate on Monday 11/4 and we haven't heard a beep from them, even after 2 e-mails.  Historically, they've been very responsive to other k-1 inquiries, so I don't know what about us that is so special...I know, before anyone starts jumping down my throat- they can just be very busy at the Consulate, but it's just discouraging that others can email and get a response within the hour and I'm going on 5 days.  Le sigh.	meuy99	Female	South Africa	2013-11-08 18:31:00

Where is he from Where did you meet What Is your plans for wedding. But we got lucky..here is why. The co said your information is perfect and have lots of info but your missing a certified copy of his divorce decree...folks I recommend going to the courts and getting the decree stamped by county clerk. Luckily my fiancee responded I have a flight on Friday and everything is perfect and if I knew we needed it, we would have it. After co making a phone call, she tells her we will accept this one for now but we don't do this anymore, you need to come back here to get your visa, it takes two days for courier to receive. We have to be the luckiest people in the world..Thank god. Folks get everything you can certified and translated.plus they want to speak English not broken Romanian. Here are people on this website who were getting approved between 12 and 30 days(!!!) Ô.o I don't know how all this can be possible but I'm that depressed and stressed already that my hair is falling out way to much as just 100 hair a day lol! :-/ And than you get just to hear "you are in normal processing time, stay calm" lmao LOL! Yeah good & easy to say when you're already approved and one step further after already 12 or 20 or what ever how many days waiting!! They also have maybe other private situation's, they work or whatever have things to do, that time is passing by faster! But what is with the people who really sit at home all day and have no job or even an own car!? Time isn't passing! :-C ??   hahaha- it's great that you can maintain your sense of humor through this   I know it's hard having to listen to those of us who've already gotten our NOA2s that you need to be patient.  I, personally, didn't consider what it's like if I didn't have my job to help me past the time.  I'd probably be way more anxious than you...   I hear that losing 100 strands of hair a day is actually normally   I lose a lot, so I guess I'm normal in the hair losing department, but am one of those abnormal people who received a fast approval.  But we are all at the mercy of government employees, so try not to worry about things you can't control and instead just pour yourself a glass of wine and wait.  Good luck!!!  Hope that you'll get your NOA2 real soon	meuy99	Female	South Africa	2013-11-04 18:53:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2013 K-1 Filers	I filed mid August and got NOA1 a week later.  Middle of October I got an RFE.  TSC got the RFE packet on 29Oct, and now I just got my NOA2 approved on November 1st.  Did that just really happen?  I was thinking after the first of the year, but that was fast.   Congrats!!!!     IS HERE ANYONE WHO IS STILL WAITING FOR THE NOA2...???? SINCE AUGUST 12 2013 or BEFORE THAT??????? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	August 2013 K-1 Filers	Yay- got our case number, finally!  I called on Friday and they said they didn't have it.  I emailed two weeks ago and I finally got a response this morning saying NVC has received it and it's in AP processing now.  Yay!   I tried to check the status online at the ceac website, but it says my case number is invalid- am I doing something wrong or do I just need to wait a while for it to be in the system?  I went to:  https://ceac.state.g...YzCYubaSQI RA==   Nevermind, did some digging and found out that I have to select Immigration Visa, not non-immigration.  I love how informative this site is, all I have to do is do a search and like magic, most of the answers to my questions are in front of me	meuy99	Female	South Africa	2013-10-29 13:10:00

Just finished calling USCIS customer service to ask about what did the alien# change was all about and they told me it was a glitch in the system. Then he went to telling me that my application was from august and they were still working on applications from March that it would be a while before they got to August. Then i went on to tell him that i knew several people that had gotten approved from August and he said he found it hard to believe that they probably were special circumstances such as hardship. I swear i think i am going to go crazy with all this HELP   Hi Liz&Ivan,   I 'd hate to say it, but I think you guys just needs to be patient. I know it's hard to do, especially since so many August filers are getting approved.  Yes, CSC is sending out approvals at the speed of light, but they're also hoarding onto those approvals and not sending them to NVC for up to 8 weeks, the norm seems to be about 6 weeks.  From what I can tell and have read on this site, your fiance is assigned an Alien #, so that is why there is a notice on your file.  At the very least, this means that your applications has come across someone's eyes and it's not lost in oblivion.  Remember that these USCIS operators don't know your file by heart and most of their answers are scripted so that they don't have to actually do any work and research your file.  Besides, they're not going to do anything about it until so much time has lapse.  If in 6 months, you still don't have a NOA2, then you should engage your Senator, but until then, sit tight and have some wine.  It may be a long wait, or maybe really short.  It seems TSC and VSC have sped things up a bit, but there are people who have filed before us who are also waiting for their approvals, so you're not alone in this.  Good luck and hang in there!	meuy99	Female	South Africa	2013-10-10 13:21:00

The National Visa Center has not received your petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Please scan and email your I-797 or I-171 Notice of Action to nvcresearch@state.gov. Type the receipt number in the subject line of your email. We will contact USCIS on your behalf to find your petition.   It hasn't been 8 weeks since my approval, my NOA2 was Sept 20.  Do you think I should bother following the instruction above?  I have a feeling that if I do, they'll respond with, it hasn't been 8 weeks yet.     thoughts anyone?	meuy99	Female	South Africa	2013-10-10 00:52:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	NOA2 over a month ago..NVC didn't receive yet...	Hi There,   After waiting 7 months our K1 application was finally accepted and our NOA2 was received on May 20th.  I had called NVC a few days after and they stated they didn't receive the app and to wait 15 business days and after waiting they stated to email them a copy of i-797, which I have done over a week ago.  They still havent gotten back to me and its been more than 30 days. Right now, Im not sure whats going on, I call NVC daily, they keep telling me they dont have it; and calling USCIS is further frustrating, because they just give me a pre-generated script which doesn't even answer my question of when it was mailed and when should NVC except it, and when I ask them again, they just state wait 30 days... It seems like these guys know absolutely nothing of whats going on except for some pre-generated scripts to tell applicants.   Right now, I dont know what to do? Should I just let the process proceed and keep waiting or what? I also contacted another VJ member whose application was accepted 3 days after mine, his application has been received by NVC and already going to the Islamabad embassy (same embassy as my file will eventually go to)... This is so frustrating that I just dont know what to do.    I can call up my congress senator but I dont know exactly what they can do that I cannot...   Can someone else tell me if they also went through this situation and what I can do to help (or should I just sit back and wait...)   thanks!	macpaf	Male	Pakistan	2013-06-22 21:44:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Transferred to ......... so depressed	Not to be rude but I have to say that you're walking into this process by a wrong mindset.  This process will try your patience to its fullest.  This isn't any process you may have experienced with a state authority or any other application. To say "these people move at a snails pace" would be an offense to all snails. I also remember when I first applied my K1 visa, I had really high hopes and would wait on a daily basis. Don't think on a daily basis the process is long, there are applications that are processed within 3 months and then there are others (like mine) that take 7 months. And these guys dont process files in order they were received. There were so many peoples whose files were processed and approved well before mines was. Just keep checking and even checking you wont get much help because they usually give you their  scripted answers USCIS reps are "trained" to give.     Right now my application was approved by USCIS and they were supposed to send the application to NVC which usually takes up to 2 weeks... So far, Ive waited 1 month and 3 weeks and still NVC has no record of my application. USCIS just says to wait... People whose applications were approved weeks after mine have been processed by NVC and gone to the Pakistan embassy and Im still waiting for NVC.  Im going through my Senator to get some help with this.   Best of luck to you but please be patient.	macpaf	Male	Pakistan	2013-06-28 19:22:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Petition Approved - NVC receipt timeline	We got our NOA2 notice on May 20th and NVC still hasn't received out application but my situation is probably out of the norm.  NVC asked me to wait 15 business days and call back, which I did, they then requested to email their NVCRequest email with my I-797 form, which I have 3 weeks ago without any response.  Im checking on a daily basis with NVC and calling USCIS is probably the most useless thing to do in the world. All they respond by is scripted responses which dont answer the question I asked of WHO LONG WILL THIS TAKE?     So today, I was finally able to talk to tier-2 rep (after literally a 2 hour hold...literally, listening to their old ### renaissance era hold music), and was able to put in a "service request", which if I know USCIS as much as I do now, nothing will come out of it, and no response will be given to me.  The tier-2 operator said to wait "about 2 weeks" and if I dont receive a response, then to call them back.   I've just contacted the senator's office and my house of rep's office to assist me, so hopefully something can come out of this.    All I can tell you is to please keep checking and be on top of these people. This might be coming out of anger but these people do not care if your app is processed on time or not processed at all! Our I-129f was accepted May 20th and we're still waiting for it to get to NVC. Both agencies keep saying go to the other. I just opened up a "service request" with USCIS which I doubt would result in anything and currently contacting my senators office which also isn't too hopeful.    Worst experience in my life! - but worth the end result	macpaf	Male	Pakistan	2013-07-07 22:33:00
