Mexico, Latin & South AmericaASC Mexico City without letter?

Do I have to schedule our CDJ interview first before I could schedule out ASC appointment in Mexico City?

Thanks

Hey sorry to respond so late... you want to make sure that you do the ASC before the CDJ interview.  On the appointment website, they ask you to do the consular appointment first and then allow you to set up the ASC interview.

Also, as an update: My fiance just went to the interview in Juarez and he said that both the clinic and the consulate asked for the letter of invitation.  So while we didn't have a problem with the ASC in Mexico City, he had to go to the consulate and ask for a copy in order to complete the rest of the process....which I'm happy to report was a success!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaASC Mexico City without letter?

Hey All,

I know this is an old question, but just wanted to give an update.  My fiance was able to complete the ASC appointment in DF without any problems!  We never received the invitation letter, but wanted to minimize the number of days in Cd Juarez, so I took a chance and just went ahead and scheduled the appointment in DF.  Afterward, I started to worry so I called the consulate and asked if it would be a problem without the letter and they said no.

Long story short: We arrived to the Mexico City ASC 30 minutes early, as suggested (which put us about 10th in line, and ahead of about 40 other people) and just before his 7am appointment they started telling everyone to have your appointment confirmation page, passport and barcode page in hand.  This turned out to be the DS - 260 confirmation page, which they mark as having had the ASC appointment.   Overall, it was pretty quick and painless, my fiance was in and out in less than 15 min!

So if anyone else is already in Mexico City, go ahead and schedule the ASC appointment for the location in the Zona Rosa.

My fiancee heads to Cd Juarez for his interview this coming week, so wish us luck!

United KingdomTell us a story
I was in London for three weeks in September, and then two weeks over the holidays, and we'd take the 4 bus to Waterloo (where my fiance's office is). Once in a while we'd take the tube from Arsenal station.

I'm from the SF Bay Area, and I was quite jealous of tube trains that came every three minutes! On BART it can be every 20 minutes, if it's not commute time.

We'd visit his folks in Kent by going to Victoria and taking the Southeastern line. A bit of a trek, but I enjoyed the scenery.

yep, we're frequent visitors to Clissold park, in Stokey..
Ill say Hi to the deer for you!

Heh! My guy lives near Clissold Park -- I still have mud on my shoes from taking a shortcut (his idea) across the grass to visit with the ducks! That was January 2 -- seems like months ago.

It's a lovely place for a picnic when the weather is warm.

I want to start "Air Anesthesia" -- you get put under just before you take off, and you come out of it right as you're rolling up to the gate at your destination.

I think I'd get a lot of takers!

United KingdomUK Judgement for non payment of debt

I would have significant reservations about following the notion that unpaid debts are forgiven after 5 to 7 years.

Not forgiven -- written off.

http://www.bcsallian...y_debt_sol.html <-- only for US debts, though

You should speak to an attorney or an accountant about this.

How old is the debt? I'm not sure what it's like in the UK, but in the states, if you've not paid off a debt by a certain period of time (typically, 5 - 7 years) the debt is written off.

I'm very jellus of the Palin sightings! Years and years ago I spoke to Graham Chapman on the phone. He was very sweet and not drunk, bless his soul.

A couple of years ago my guy and I went to see Judith Owen and Harry Shearer perform in a small club in San Francisco, and Robin Williams sat directly behind us! I was holding my breath, because I've seen Robin Williams before and sometimes he can make it "all about ME!" instead of the performers on stage but he was well-behaved that night.

Hmmmm. I'm getting worried. We got our NOA2 on 4/12, but we've not received Packet 3 yet.

Meant to ask earlier - have you called the NVC to make sure they received your petition and shipped it to London? There have been delays lately between NOA2 and NVC receiving petitions - sometimes up to around 3 weeks.

Not yet -- I've been trying today. Better to phone than to email?

Yes - and don't waste your time trying unless its early in the morning (8 am Eastern time) or midnight (eastern time). Otherwise you'll just sit on hold.

I called around 8:15 am EST and got right through.

OK -- got through. Not in the system yet. They said it could take up to 90 days (!!!) from the date of the NOA2, and to wait a couple of weeks before calling back.

Bah :(

United KingdomWhat to take as a hostess gift?

I always bring California wines and American Bourbon

We do have a couple things that are different.

How do you do that with the restriction of taking only a certain amount of liquid on board the airplane? I wanted to take his dad some Maker's Mark, Simon's favorite, but didn't want to get all the way to the airport only to find we can't take it on board with us. That would totally stink!!!

This guy suggests wrapping up your wine as sort of a "wine mummy" and packing it in your checked luggage:

I sometimes have trouble reaching my guy's mobile when I go through 10-10-987. Sometimes it takes three or four tries.

Not that this helps at all -- just more anecdotal information.
