K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary Filers - Makin' It To The NVC

Hi guys!

I love NVC. They already sent our application to London, just today:) This is great

Sweet, congrats!!!

Any set interview dates for January filers??? CSC Jan filers that is.

I haven't seen any lately -- I think most of us are still in the process of getting Packet 3. I think the stats show at least one person with any interview date.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary Filers - Makin' It To The NVC
I heard today that we got Packet 3 -- at my fiancee's parents house in Kent! Not his current address in London! ARRRRGH.

His parents are very kindly driving up to London with the packet.

Do I have to contact the embassy to make sure they send the to the correct address? I'm grateful they picked his parents' address, instead of the myriad of addresses my guy had before!

HAPPY NEW YEAR ANYWAYS!

Your Welcome Christine. I almost got put in that Lawyer trap, but then decided to do it on my own. I mean don't get me wrong I know there are lots of great lawyers, but after reading on this and the I2US fourm I have notice a lot of people are given mis-leading info. I hope you get your NOA2 soon!

Happy New Years to you too!

I got my NOA2 approved biggrin.gif
I decided not to hire the lawyer and save the money for my trip to see my dream girl instead.
Everyone keep telling me to get a lawyer and that I will need it. I ignored all of them and walked into the Immigration Office and asked for I-129F packet. The Immigration Officer gave me brief instructions and I followed it. When things didn't seem to be moving I joined this forum and looked for some advise and guidance. Everyone here was so helpful and I did it with the help of this forum nowI just booked for my flight to see my fiancee in Thailand on Jan 25th with the money I saved. biggrin.gif

I noticed on the affidavit of support form (I 134) the EXP. date is 4-30-07. Is this going to be an issue? I can't seem to find an updated form.

Thanks

I downloaded the form I-134 directly for the USCIS page today and it has the same EXP date of 4-30-07. I don't think it will be an issue.

This is the Edition note from the website. Next to the forms.

"2/28/07. Versions 12/04/06, 7/14/06 and 6/17/06 are also acceptable."

I live in the states and trying to get approval for my fiance who lives in England. I know that my income is looked at but is his? We submitted our petition in January and it is killing us to be apart and we are thinking about him quitting his job and coming here for 3 months. Would that look bad for the visa process? We don't want to do anything that would harm and prohibit him getting approved but looking at how long people are having to wait is frustrating and we don't want to waste anymore time not being together. Our application has not been touched since January 8th and now it is the end of February and we are getting doubtful that this will go through anytime in the next few months.

Welcome to the club. The process is slow and very frustrating.

I think what you have is enough. If you don't have originals just tell them you don't have it.
I think as long as you can answer the questions that they ask you and it matches with the information sent to them, when your fiancee filed, you will be ok.

Hey everyone,

Well, we sent our packet 3 in on like March 28th, and are just waiting for packet 4, and for our interview date!
Anyone in the same situation as us? Let's keep in touch!!

Good luck everyone!

It took about 1 month for us to receive the packet 4. You can also send the embassy an email requesting for an update. They will let you know your interview date if one is already scheduled for you. We found out our interview date about 2 weeks before we got the packet 4 in the mail.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 out of CSC
It looks like there are two other couples here with the same situation as me and my wife. Our 129F NOA1 is May 13, 2009. I've seen some others with NOA1 dates about a week before us who have gotten their NOA2 as of about 2 weeks ago. Have things slowed down at the California Service Center? It seems they have, and we shall have to wait. But I am hoping we will all be hearing soon.

Hi Everyone,

I received a AOS Letter and Choose of Address, Agent today in my email. I noticed that my middle name is incorrect. Has anyone have encounter this problem. Should i go ahead and pay for the AOS Bill and call the NVC tomorrow to correct my middle name or should i wait till they correct my middle name. its just one letter it should letter O instead it was letter D. Can someone share if we have the same issue. Thank you....

Go ahead and pay the bill and call NVC tomorrow with the corrections. The bill is paid through your case number. The same thing happened with my wife and me, there were discrepencies on her address when the Choice of Agent DS-3032 was generated. We just paid the bill and I called an NVC operator to make the changes. No problem. Also later, when paying eitir the AOS or the IV Petition bill, I had to call to change my wife's name, because all her ID at that point had been changed to reflect her new married last name. Once again, no problem, and it didn't interfere with or slow down the process at all.
Good luck!

Hindocha, you seem to be pretty confused. If you were already prepared to go through processing at NVC, even though it was in error, you should really consider going for the CR-1. I'm not making money every time I suggest it- I just wish someone had told me all the mistakes I was making along the way.

Yeah, that's good advice right there. I didn't even know about CR-1 when my wife and I started applying, but now we are almost done with the process.

At the very least, call an NVC operator and give them your email addresses. This will speed everything up greatly.

I just called NVC hoping to hear that my K1 had arrived there safe and sound, but when I called the lady said not only had it arrived, but it was on its way to London. She gave me the following number: LND2009764***. What does it mean? Can I do anything with it? She didn't say when the petition had left NVC so I don't know what date to put in my timeline....maybe I should call back.

This seems so quick, we were only approved on the 16th. Can it be this fast?

Your case number is based on the Embassy that will handle it and the day that NVC scanned it into their system. LND is because you're at the London Embassy, 20009 is the year of your case. The 764 represents the ordinal date in the year that your petition was scanned into their system + 500. The 264th day of the year was Sept. 21, so that's when they scanned your case into the system. The last three digits represent the order your case was scanned in that day. For example, if those last three digits are 076, yours was the 76th case scanned in that day. There's not much you can do with the info, but it sounds like your case will be in London soon! Congratulations!

By the way, it was so fast at NVC because for K-1 visas, they just touch it and pass it on to the Embassy, where they do the final processing. My wife and I just went through CR-1 processing at NVC, which is a much longer process.

PhilippinesQuestion for those who recently interviewed at USEM
OK, I was at the Embassy in early March to get my CENOMAR. I left my cel phone outside with my then fiance (now my wife), but had my digital camera with me when I went in. I had to check it at the security line on the way in. I was so excited to get out with the CENOMAR approval that I forgot to claim my camera on the way out! We were halfway in a cab to the Mall of Asia when we had to backtrack so I could get it! So if they don't allow you in with it, you can check it on the way in. Just don't forget it on the way out!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionletter from bank & date opened acct. necessary?
I'm probably going to skip the letter from the bank as part of the interview packet for my fiancee. I have multiple printouts from my bank's web site, about salary deposits, balances, etc. The amount of money in the accounts isn't going to be a factor anyhow. I suppose it's only really an important letter if someone with a low-ish salary claims to have 100k in the bank.

PhilippinesB2 visa question
Thanks again. I think We'll just try and see.Even if it's a 5% chance of success it's worth the shot. Our fallback plan is a second wedding in Phil next year. Actually we'd planed it also, but the first would be great to have them here.

Question, does a second wedding there involve all sorts of paperwork and forms, or should it also just be a faux Wedding? Once married here or anywhere it would seem another wedding is just like having seconds at a buffet.

PhilippinesB2 visa question
Thanks. They have a 14yo daughter and possibly a son who is still a minor. Her mother also acts as the mother to a 3yo grand-daughter, but I don't know how they would prove that relationship. They do own property, but the title is in some sort of dispute at the moment. They don't have a lot of (any?) money in the bank, but I was hoping a letter/statement of support from me would improve this aspect. It's a long shot. I'm hoping this works. It'd be a shame for them to miss the wedding. I can cover all expenses. If there is anything anyone can think of to assist or improve the odds, please let me know. Would borrowing money from friends to temporarily balloon their bank acct help?

PhilippinesB2 visa question
I'm trying to figure out how best to have success in obtaining a B2 visa from the Manila embassy for the parents of my fiancee. We have a wedding date in mind, but also the timing is tight-ish.

1. Is it best to have her visa approved prior to their b2 interview? That way it's a solid evidence that a wedding will be happening.
2. Can she also attend the b2 interview or do they only permit the actual applicants (her parents)?
3. Would it benefit having her present at that interview (assuming she is permitted)?
4. Would it help to have airline tickets and a complete trip itinerary (dates and places) already in their possession or might the consulate be insulted at the presumptuousness of such a move?

I know the key to success isn't proving that they want to come to the US, that they are more concerned with knowing the parents have enough ties to Phil not to remain illegally in the US, however the wedding of their eldest daughter seems a reasonably important event and one which is worthy of a visa.

Thanks for any help and also thanks for any other advice.

PhilippinesHow was it the first time you meet him/her personally?
We met at Cebu airport after 6 year internet courtship. She turned out not to be a girl but was a man. i was angry.

Well i was just kidding. it was fine but she was affrai of pda. i know its a cultural thing. for me strangers views are unimportant. i could care less what people think of me who dont know me. i regret not making a big scene just to embarass her. but i behaved. she was very well dressed a nd pretty. i was dead tired from a 30 hour journey and wearing shorts and feeling grubby. it was fine though. it took about 30 minutes to start knowing her in person. we were engaged 7 days later. i wouldnt say it wasnt unforgettable. but that first contact wasnt as memorable as i would have prefered. it was honestly burdened greatly by my three 50- pound bags of luggage which within 2 minutes of meeting her i was carrying all at once up two flights of stairs to the taxi stand. that airport needs a redesign. during the taxi ride we became less formal. aided in part by her sister who gave us privacy by sitting in the front seat.
