No, I would defintiely wait until you have all the documents to submit. You might want to call the consulate to confirm that. I know in Haiti if you send incomplete info it will prolong the process

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 what to do from here

So we finally got our NOA2 on April 8th, however I called the NVC center April 30th and they have yet to get the papers. I gave them my case number and get "sir we dont have anything by that case number yet". Its almost been a month and the NOA2 has a 4 month validity window valid through 8/7/2013. I dont want to take the chance that it would expire before she arrives, the mail in the Philippines specifically Mindanao is quite slow. Should i just wait longer for the NVC center to get their stuff together? Am i missing something? Is this window going to be a issue? HELP ME PLEASE IM FREAKING OUT!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to pay for I-129F while living abroad?

Hi everyone!
Just thought I'd let you know that I emailed London embassy about method of payment.
I was told to get an international bank draft from my bank and that this would be accepted - and it was!

I received my NOA1 last week.

Thank you for all your responses.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to pay for I-129F while living abroad?

Please help unsure.png
We are currently trying to file I-129f and get it sent off ASAP.
My fiance (american + UK citizen) and I live together here in Scotland,UK

My fiance will be moving back to the states in Oct/Nov.
We are having severe trouble trying to find out how to pay for the I-129f fee ($340) while he is currently living here.

On the instruction document for I-129f on USCIS website they state:
"If you live outside the US, Guam, or the US Virgin Islands, contact the nearest US Embassy or Consulate for instructions on the method of payment."

They also state: "If you live in the US or if you are living abroad: File form I-129f at the USCIS Dallas Lockbox facility."

I have rang US Embassy in Edinburgh, Belfast & London. I was not able to speak to anyone about this from the Edinburgh or Belfast as it did not come up as an option. However, I finally got through to London after they hung up several times. A spoke to a woman who seems to be talking absolute nonsense.
She told me that my American fiance will have to be living in US to file I-129f. I told her this could not be true because of what I read in the instruction document (what I have quoted above). She insisted that this was the case..?!

So I am none the wiser!! headbonk.gif
Please help as I want to start this process ASAP, I have all my documents ready to be sent, just need information on how to pay!

Any help is much appreciated.

Hope to hear from you,
Leanne.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Package Binding
The USCIS recommends that papers be bound with ACCO Fasteners, with two holes punched at the top of the pages (as opposed to the sides) and divider tabs on the bottom. But you can paper clip it or put it in a folder, or just leave it loose, they just ask that you make it easy for them to disassemble so no binders or anything.

We just left it loose and placed it in a large zip-lock bag since stationary stores are hard to find here.

Oh and here's their official assembly tips:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPoof of meeting and ongoing relationship when staying together since we met...

Did you send in a story of how you met to start the relationship?? Then did you describe that you have been living together since meeting. Proof of relationship could include other items since you have established a residence together. Since you live together are both names on lease or rent receipt??? What about utility bills that show your names on different ones. Another question is why not get married and do a CR-1?

Hi, yes we did mention whilst describing "circumstances" of how we met that we live in the same city, we haven't been living together when sending petition. My fiancé has his "all bills inclusive" accommodation provided by his employer, so there is no bills to put my name on...
K1 visa suts us better, thats why not CR-1

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPoof of meeting and ongoing relationship when staying together since we met...
Hi all, im originally from Poland, living in United Kingdom. My fiancé is on work assignment and lives in the same city as I do, thats how me met. We applied for K1 knowing he will have to go back to US in 2013. We are living together since September just after sending petition.
So... we are nearly 3 months after NOA1 and it struck me that we might have not provided enough proof that we met in last 2 years. I mean we sent couple of pics (not date stamped) and travel itenaries for our trips to Poland and France. For both trips we have only had printable versions of tickets, which i am reading now are not accepted. I know know we should have send my fiancés passport stamps etc... but it was so obvious for us we are together everyday, we didn't think we are kind of guilty until proven innocent if it makes sense. Will it be enough that my fiancés current address he put on the form is in the same city as mine?
Then going forward any kind person could suggest what sort of evidence we can provide as proof of ongoing and genuine relationship. We don't do video chats and we don't have to pass borders to meet so no stamps.. we do text and call on a mobile (mine is on my name but his is pay as you go - so not registered to his name). All i can think of is to make some pictures with a stamps on them going forward and keep boarding passes from our vacation in January and have my engagement ring/receipt and my fiancé with me for interview. Any other suggestions? :-)

No, I think at this form you write down all the countries you entered with or without stamp. Thats how other people did that no?

I reckon its safest to list them all to our best knowledge

I don't think living in a country = visiting (as tourists). I believe it applies only when one stayed abroad for at least a year (studying, working etc.). I don't know why would they care to read about anyone's tourist trips. But correct me if I'm wrong.

The form says "list all the counries you have entered in the last 10 years". Doesnt say countires you lived in.. I also think they dont care about our holiday trips but i believe that's what they ask for. Maybe what they are interested in is the destinations and unusual patterns etc.

Hi, I wonder if someone can helpd me:
In last 10 years I have travelled a bit around Europe (all for pleasure/visiting family/friends) and as EU citizen I dont get stamps in my passport. I am worried I will not be able to remember every single trip I made... :bonk: I also made multiple travels to some countries i.e. Spain or Germany. Would writing it down like below be ok, could it be a problem iff I fail to recall some trips?
Poland yearly 2004-2012
Germany 2009,2011,2012
Spain 2009,2011,2012
Ireland 2012 etc...

These forms should be more user friendly, thats for sure!

Just got through, after about 30min on hold. Spoke to a guy who was very much in a rush but he told me they received the petition and already forwarded to the consulate and got my case number.

As far as I am concerned you don't really have to speak to NVC if its inconvenient. Just wait for consulate to contact the petitioner (sent packet 3)? Also they have an email address on the website http://travel.state..../info_3177.html it says
The NVC?s e-mail address is NVCINQUIRY@state.gov.

E-mail is the NVC?s preferred method of communication.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresa few questions about the process

The first is quite difficult because traveling by land US/Mex don't stamp your passport. Don't having boarding passes or plane tickets since all meetings been by car.

I can provide for some trips since we gone deep to Mexico and traveled from Sonora to Baja California got Puerta tickets. How could I prove I've seen her once a month. Gotta figure that part out.

Number 2, is easy, got our e-mails, photos, and phone bill.

I think anything "officiall-ish" in your name, from mexico will be ok, also maybe card statements if you made atm withdrawals or card payments.

Remember that to file the petition you only meed to prove you met once in last 2 years. For interview you might need to prove ongoing relationship.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresa few questions about the process

I figure I just bump this up instead of making a new thread.

I'm done with our packet and soon be sending it as soon as I can have her sign it and date it where she needs to. I got a few questions, I don't want no problems and have to get a RFE. So with the packet I'm sending:

6 pictures of us together during various stages of our relationship and 1 with family. Also 1 current.
3 pages of her phone bill which is an American cell phone that I pay for and shows her international calling to my cell. So will show a payment and calling to my cell within' past 3 months.
1 page of toll tickets that I saved when me and her went with my mom and her husband to Nyarit Mexico for a week to show that we traveled together. No photos because all were lost.

Just wondering if this will be enough evidence of a real relationship?

You can save phone bills for interview stage, they are not proving you met thus cannot be used for i-129f petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice report for interview

For the sake of just 10 pounds its worth getting her one , might save time later ! Thanks .

From us embassy in london website: Police Certificates for the United Kingdom: A visa applicant who has resided in the United Kingdom for 6 months or more since the age of 16, is required to obtain a police certificate from the ACPO Criminal Records Office (ACRO). Further information is available from their website at www.acro.police.uk. This police certificate will serve to advise the U.S. Embassy, London whether or not any criminal conviction is held against him/her. The police certificate will be sent to the applicant's address provided at the time of application. Please note that the Immigrant Visa Unit considers the police certificate valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, not six months as stated on the certificate. If the police certifiate states "No Trace" or "No Live Trace", please be prepared to discuss your arrests/cautions/convictions with the consular officer on the day of the interview.

It costs £45 for standard processing (10 days) and £80 for premium (2 days)

Not sure if your daughter will need one, i would check with embassy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSpanish Police Certificate

We received notice of approval on 3/8 and need one more paper. My fiancé previously lived in Spain for several years, however, he is Colombian and is in Colombia now. We have searched the site and are not sure the best way to obtain the Police Certificate. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, this is info from Dept. of State, country reciprocity schedule:
Police Record

Available for applicants over 18 years old.

The Spanish police Certificate is known in Spain as "Certificado de Antecedentes Penales".
Non-Spanish former residents of Spain applying outside Spain must contact their respective countries´ Embassy in Madrid, Spain. (Example: Italians should contact the Italian Consulate in Madrid). The Embassy should then contact the Spanish Ministry of Justice if that country has a reciprocal agreement with Spain for police certification. A list of countries having reciprocal agreements with Spain is not available. Applicants must check with each individual consulate regarding their country´s reciprocal agreement status. The contact address is:

Oficina central de Atención al Ciudadano del Ministerio de Justicia
Plaza Jacinto Benavente 3
28012 Madrid
Spain

Non-Spanish citizens living illegally in Spain: Police certificates are unavailable for non-Spanish citizens living illegally in Spain. There are no alternatives available for visa applicants needing Spanish Police Certificates who live illegally in Spain.

Therefore looks like you should conact Colombian embassy in Spain.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Question for details of how we met
On the K-1 petition where the form asks you to write down the details of how you met, are they simply looking for a straight forward statement such as "my fiancé met on xx/xx/xx when I was studying abroad in Costa Rica and we started dating on xx/xx/xx and when I went back to visit for a few weeks we decided we wanted to get married?" How much detail should I be including? Are they interested in our entire love story or just the factual information? What have other people done?
They are not interested in our love stories just the cirucumstances and date of you meeting within two years. "I met my fiancé on xx/xx/xx when I was studying abroad in Costa Rica and we started dating on xx/xx/xx" should be enough.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresplease help -- some case specific questions

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I'm sorry if I am posting in the wrong place. First let me say that without even having posted anything, searching and reading this webpage has been enormously useful already. Thank you. I hope you guys can help me with some case specific questions that I couldn't find addressed adequately elsewhere.

Background information: I, US citizen, am finishing up my I-129f packet for my fiancee, a Hong Kong citizen.

Questions about my G325a:

First: Currently, I am unemployed (I am a student). Do I need to show that I will be employed in the future? Or do I wait for the AoS?

Second: The G325a asks for applicants previous employment. When my fiancee fills out this form, does she have to fill out this section because she is the beneficiary and not the applicant?

Third: When listing my addresses, do I only list my permanent address with my parents? I have had temporary arrangements, different each year, while I was going to school (300 miles away from my home). Should I list them all? Further, I am currently studying abroad in Hong Kong. Should I list my Hong Kong address as present living address? I have only been in Hong Kong for 4 months.

This immediately ties into my third question about filing from abroad. Because this document has to be filed in the US, I am of course using my parents address. However, can I simply mail my form from Hong Kong to the USCIS? Will they be alarmed that my package originates abroad? Also, if I list my present address as being in Hong Kong, wouldn't that cause problems?

Thanks for your help and consideration

Hi, welcome to VisaJourney!

First: either state all your past employments or state "none". You are not required to be employed to file I-129F but you will need a job/ a lot of assets or co-sponsor for affidavit of support needed at the interview stage.

Second: g325a needs to be completed in full by both petitioner and beneficiary. 'Applicant' in this case refers to the person the form is filled by.

Third: I'd list all your residence addresses in the last 5 yeas. As it asks for your present address to be listed put your hong kong one first.
The question after asks for last address outside us of more than 1 year, if none state none.

Four: What they mean is that you cannot file for k-1 visa via us consulate in beneficiary's country. You need to go through uscis but there is no problems sending paperwork from abroad. Just make sure you use correct filling address and use reliable courier company.

Good luck with your journey :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A overlap in place of residence...what do i write?

I'm currently filling out the G-325A (beneficiary). I have read on the forums not to have any overlap in place of residence or employment. For a period during 2012 i had 2 places of residence, i was traveling and had an apartment where i was renting a room as my home base in Canada, but also still had my name on a lease back home in Australia. How do i explain this? Should I add an attachment, if so where do i write 'please see attachment'? Thanks for your help!

Depending on how long you lived in Canada I'd just write down dates depending on where you were actually residing rather than where you leased apartments and make them not overlap. For example if you mainly lived in canada jan 2011-may 2012 just put that on the form even if you travelled back to au within those times or if Canadian stay shorter than few months altogether then i'd probably skip it as it was only holiday rental?

I recently filed my ki visa application in february. I have not seen my fiance since june 2012. I usualy seen him every year in june, but this year we were thinking of holding off on out yearly trip because we anticipate him being here in sept or october.
Also we wanted to set aside the money we would use to go toward the funds needed for his future AOS.
Will the USCIS look down upon our case if we dont see each other in more than a year?

I am waiting decision on my K-1 application. I believe I have enough evidence to prove the existance of relationship. Visited twice since we met, communications, money transfers, pictures, bank statements showing that she was using my american bank card for over year in my native country until I stopped it. But I want to fly to home to attend the interview with her because I am not happy with some of her answers to possible questions and that scares me sometimes. She thinks since I have filed for her, AO will just call her to come for the visa. Also she is been there once for student visa but was refused. Do you think my presence with her will improve her chances of getting the visa?
[/quote

If I might chime in, I think its agreat idea for you to attend as it shows the commitment that the two of you have. I did the same last year, it gave my fiance' confidence standing at her side and if there needed to be clarification, I was there to support her. Good luck to you !

My Canadian Passport expires December 18th 2013. I filled on Jan 10th 2013 and are awaiting initial approval. My question is this; Should I renew my passport before I get my K1 VISA? Or will I not need the VISA in my passport once I'm married? Otherwise I would need the new passport to be available to me for put the K1 in and will be in the passport for five years.

Thanks for any help.
