K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHaven't Received Hard Copy of RFE

That is not the same case as the OP.

You do not get a mail notification from them that they received the documents - you will never get notification on this so you are waiting for nothing.

No, I dont think you understood my question. I am waiting for the RFE hard copy, I only received notice (on the USCIS website) that they mailed it this past Tuesday. I just thought that they used first class mail and that I would have received it by today. I'm sure I will get it soon, then I will know what the RFE is and can send whatever they need.

Thank you, its very helpful to know this. I can sleep better tonight.....

Richard

Its been 4 days. You need to wait at least 2 weeks to get something in the mail.

OK, thank you !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHaven't Received Hard Copy of RFE
Good Afternoon Everyone,

I went to the USCIS webssite on Tuesday and saw this message "REQUEST FOR EVIDENCE On January 10, 2012, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested". I really thought I would have received the hard copy by now to start compiling the requested info. Maybe I'm just impatient but should I be worried that I didnt receive it yet? Its coming from Vermont and I live in Florida but its been 4 days and of course, the mail is not running on Monday in observance of MLK Day. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this and give me an idea of how soon the deadline will be. Thanks all !

The waiting is the hardest part.....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F Petition for Fiance Approved !!!!!
I wanted to share our happy news that our I-129F petition was approved. I received the notice in the mail today and have updated our timeline. One question: I thought the next step was that the Vermont Service Center sends the packet to the National Visa Service Center. My letter states "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate (Kiev). Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance....". Does this mean that our info won't be going to the National Visa Service Center and instead, directly to the consulate in Kiev? Anyway, I am so happy and excited - I want to call my fiance now but its 2:25 in Ukraine and I dont want to wake her, so instead I am telling all my friends here on VJ ! I know its only the first step but at least we're in process !! I wish everyone good luck with your journeys as well.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPPROVED!!!!

We just wanted to share our experience at the London Embassy this morning. Best of luck to you ALL! Hang in there, your day will come!! :)

OUR INTERVIEW WAS TODAY!

We were lucky enough to be there together. Our interview was scheduled for 8:30am, however, we arrived at 7:50 and proceeded through security with no problems. Line wasn't bad at all. Once we were given a ticket number we were told to take a seat and wait for our number to be called.

After waiting about 40 minutes, our "I" number was called. We walked up to window 14 and waited about 3 minutes until an English woman came to help us. She was cold, didn't say much of anything, very sarcastic, and questioned everything my fiance said. We were asked to hand over passport, affidavit of support, visa appointment letter and proof of visa payment (Those last two things: you need from the moment you get in line, until you get a decision. Have them in an easily accessible place). The woman then took my fiance's fingerprints, and then handed back his chest x ray results and was told he needs to have it in his hand luggage for entering US. We were then told to sit back down in the waiting area, complete the courier form and wait for your number to be called again (this time for the actual interview).

About 30 minutes passed and our number was called again, we then went to window 15 and was greeted by a very friendly middle aged American man. Verified my fiance's fingerprints first, then he raised his right hand and swore an oath that everything was true and correct to the best of his knowledge and belief. The man then proceeded to ask questions about us and our relationship. Questions were very simple... such as...

1. How did you meet?
2. How have you maintained the relationship (i.e. skype, visits).
3. Why live in America rather than UK? (This threw us off guard). haha
4. What do you both do for work?
5. If any, how much money are you bringing with you to the US?

He then told us we were approved and advised us we would receive the visa in 7-10 days. He explained that your passport (with visa inside) will be delivered to your home. Along with it, will be a sealed envelope with your immigration documents inside. This envelope is to remain sealed and carried in your hand luggage with your chest x ray to give to the customs/immigration at Port of Entry in US.

In total, the process took us 2 1/2 hours. He wished us well and hoped we build a beautiful life together in the United States.

Fantastic !! All the best to you...

Richard and Inna

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat happens after they get to you????
" However, I think he may get lonely, missing the hustle and bustle of Kingston. I am from a very small town in Florida so there isnt a whole lot of noise there. I worry about things such as the food that he likes. I am a southern girl and I do southern cooking"

I was also thinking how different it is here(I am also in Florida), and how he is used to hitting the road in the morning and going here and there...he is a musician and does spend a lot of time with his music so I suppose that will keep him busy. We did spend 6 weeks together over the summer in JA and with the exception of a few days we were together night and day, so I think that gave me some idea...as for the food, he knows how to cook some serious Ital, so I'm not too worried about that! Do they have any international markets near where you are? Usually you can get things there that regular stores don't carry like calalloo and guineps, etc.

Ahhhhh! There is so much to think about, I just wish this process moved faster. I'm on my 5th trip to JA this year and if I keep this up I will be in the poor house soon :help:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat happens after they get to you????
Ok, so I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and started to wonder what my day would be like if my hunny was here with me. Then I thought to myself...how is it going to be when he just gets here? I will have to go to work and I guess he will just have to sit at home? I mean once we get married and he applies for residency he can start looking for work but in the mean time I have a feeling he is going to get reallyyyyyy bored!

Just wondering how those of you who have already crossed that bridge handled it....Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy Fiance has 4 children in Dominican Republic

I agree with the response from the rest of the ladies, It is a BIG expensive that you are look at, You can always add the kids in the petition, as they will intend to travel eventually but not at the moment when is time for your fiance to travel.

I've heard in many case where adding the children to the petition is good for up to a year, and keep in mind that as a USC you can always petition for the kids later on down the line and it will not take as long as if it was your husband who would be trying to petition for him, as he will become a legal res. where it can take up to years for him to have his kids here.

And remember always honesty with the CO.

Good Luck!!

Good morning GodsGift (I love the name)

Thank you for your advice and support. I feel really welcomed here and my finance and I really appreciate all the support of VJ. I feel like I have a littel bond with the ladies here in this process. I follow your posts and you seem to really know a lot about this process. You along with the other ladies I responded to really ROCK  Again, thanks for your support it means so much to us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy Fiance has 4 children in Dominican Republic

I agree with In<3. According to your post, the best option for you it will be to do follow to join. It's more paperwork and a little bit more money, but as of right now, in your financial situation, you shouldn't bring them all at once. Especially if your fiance won't have a secured job as soon as he arrives. Because when he comes, if all children come with him, for each child under 14 years old, the fee to file Adjustment of Status from a K2 visa is $635. Not including his total fee of $1,070 for AOS from a K1 visa alone. You also have a year to request for them to come on a K2 visa. If you want to bring one for now, it's fine, but also remember they each have to complete a medical exam/vaccines, including your fiance. My fiance is coming with his daughter, because we wanted to avoid doing everything else later on, but 5 beneficiaries including your fiance is ALOT of money, a co-sponsor is only going to help giving proof that when he comes (& if his children come) they can provide financial support, it's not to help with the costs of medical exams, vaccines,AOS,trip planning, etc... It's a tough situation, but keep in mind that time does fly by, and most important is to bring your fiance here so you guys can work together and be able to bring the children with no problem (financially).

I don't think there is any problem, if they ask why he is leaving them behind, just simply tell the truth, you want to be stable first and be able to afford the costs coming up together.

good luck with any decision you make. you know we're here to help and share our experiences with you :star:

Sanchez, my (L) you are the bomb! Thank you so much for your response. Your answer is just what I needed to hear. You always talk $ and that is where I am mentally at the moment too. Plus, I want a smoothe transition for all of us. My fiance doesn't speak much English and he doesn't know how to drive here lol. You know how it is in Bani. :) Thank you for your support. This makes this process less stressful and easier. My fiance asked me last night for your fiance family name, but I wasnt sure. Maybe they know each other. :)
We will apply with the intent to join with the children's names. I will visit in August and we will discuss things with the children and prepare then. You are a few days away from being in your finance's arms! I am so excited for you!

xoxoxo,
Keisha

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy Fiance has 4 children in Dominican Republic

Good Morning..
I don't believe that there will be a problem with him leaving his children behind many people do it.. What you can do is a follow to join which is when you put his children's names like they intend to travel into the USA what this does it gives you guys a year in which you could bring the children. It saves you the first few steps of this process since they are already named on his paperwork.

Look into follow to join .. I believe thats your best option you can put all 3 children.

Good Day

Hello In <3, good morning to you!

Thank you for the follow to join advice. After speaking with my fiance, this is what we have decided to do. I am happy to know that your babies will be able to join us in a year. This will be perfect for all of us. Thank you for your support you R-O-C-K

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy Fiance has 4 children in Dominican Republic

yes you want to tell them that you want the kids to come with you..plusss if you dont meet the 125% poverly line you can get a co-sponsor who makes more money.. a family member or even a friend For example my dad was my co-sponsor it does help if you have a job..it could be a part time since you're in college..trust me it doesnt matter as long as you have some income coming...i had a part time because i am a cllege student and hubby is here with no problem..one question did you send your k1???already??:)

Hola Mariel!

Thanks for your advice. No, we haven't sent our K-1 yet because I need to know all I can before sending it and I need to ensure everything is filled out completely. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMy Fiance has 4 children in Dominican Republic
Hello my VJ Family!

I am reading everything on this site and it is amazing how you all help one another out to achieve a common goal, getting our loved ones in our arms as quickly as possible. I appreciate the support and advice that is given here. I especially appreciate the respect in the responses that I read (for the most part Posted Image). I do have to admit I have read some pretty interesting stories Posted Image But the flow of the advice seems to fit the questions....I feel comfortable asking questions here because it seems like at least one person has a similar situation or circumstance.

Ok, so here is my topic for today, I will give as much details as I can. My fiance has 4 children in Dominican Republic Posted Image, 3 boys and 1 girl ages 16, 14, 12, and 9 (mi nina). Which I have met and we are extremely to close. All of them are by the same Mother whom my Fiance never married. My Fiance is with his children everyday and is very involved in their everyday life and education. Education is extremely important to the both of us.
I have 1 child (mi nina who is also 9 yrs. old) from a previous marriage (which was a mistakePosted Image). The children are very excited about us being a family in America and attending school here with my daughter. My daughter is very close to my Fiance's children. Even though there is a language barrier English / Spanish, the kids find a way to communicate with each other via Skype and Video Chat on Facebook. They call each other and teach each other words in English & Spanish. It is super sweet how they instantly fell in love with each other just like my Fiance and I did when we met. When it is meant to be things just flow like running water. Posted Image Our children will all be together in D.R. for Christmas and we are all excited!

My question of the day is, we know we want the children in America with us. I am for sure the 3 youngest children are ready to come now. The oldest son, I feel will stay in Dominican Republic to be with his Mother. Their Mother has agreed to allow the children to live with us here in America and she respects the relationship that I have built with her / our kids. So I am grateful for that.

Questions:
1. Will that be a problem when it comes to his interview that he will be leaving 4 children behind?
2. Currently my income does not meet the requirements to support my Fiance and our 5 children. I have 8 months left in my medical program (I am a Midwife with a Masters in Public Health) so within a yr my income will meet the requirements. We anticipate my Fiance getting here to Florida, learning to drive, and become employed / own his own business for a year before sending for the children.
Do we tell the Counselor all this information or do we just simply say "NO" the children aren't coming with us? Because we don't know exactly when we will start the process.
3. Will that impact his case once the Counselor learns how close my Fiance is to his children?

I don't want to have to wait for years before our children can all be together here. Ok VJ what do you think?Posted Image

Morning Liz. Sorry to hear about the crappy weather. If it makes you feel better I am wearing shorts and flip flops in my office today. Although I don't think that will make you feel better it does however make me feel pretty good.

Maire of course I have not heard anything new. We are still stuck in limbo. I did write the embassy a thoughtful and detailed letter explaining how we were in AP with NVC and just how long the entire process has taken. We'll see how that works.

Although I did get a letter from my senator which tated that my case is under review and will be approved as quickly as possible. The letter than went on to tell me if I needed any more assistance not to hesitate and ask again for help. As if them telling me that my case was under reiew was actually helpful. I am flabbergasted by their complete incompetence and how out of touch they are. It pisses me off that the caseworker who sent that to me actually gets to think that they are in any way helping me with their absurd letter.

Lee hang in there buddy. I remember how bad I felt when everyone in March was getting approved and our file was sitting there gathering dust. It was 2 months of pure, unadulterated misery.... it was very painful watching applications being approved in 40 days while ours was ignored. I know that doesnt really help you... other than... this passed for us and now seems to be on track.... and with hindsight, the 2 months now doesnt feel quite so bad!

Hugs Dude!

Thanks Richard. I know deep down you're right and this is going to happen, eventually. It's just so demoralizing for both of us at the moment. What kills me is that I can't find out how long AP at the embassy usually takes. At least when I was in AP at NVC I knew that it usually takes about one month. I know it sounds silly, but I would feel better if they would just it's going to take six months, because I'd at least know when the end is coming. The not knowing is so painful. I will get over this feeling as soon as I am home and can relax and not have to be fake here at work. On the brightside I am reading a hilarious book called "FU Penguin: Telling cute animals what's what" it's based on a blog and it is hilarious. I just picked it up yesterday, because I need something to help me laugh.

Any word on when Joanna's interview will be?

They just said they can make another inquiry and call back on Monday to get the results of the inquiry. You can't speak to the officer so they tell me to just be patient.

I am pretty much the same, you know stressed, aggravated, angry, depressed, anxious, etc. How are you doing Roman? The wedding planning almost done?

I am happy to hear that you are feeling better.

I would describe myself as the model of insanity. I can't help but feel completely helpless and waiting for tomorrow so I can make my weekly phone call that will tell me absolutely nothing new. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the exact same thing and expecting different results.
