I'm the beneficiary as well and I didn't know how to do it either until I decided I wanted to do that, because simply waiting became unbearable. All you need to do it type "Who is my Congressman?" in Google and you will find a government search engine. You type your fiance's (US Citizen) zip code and it finds the Representative for you. You go to their website (online office) and just send them an e-mail. As easy as that :) If you're not sure what to write (except that you're frustrated, because you haven't heard anything from the USCIS for over 6 months), you can use a sample letter that you'll find by browsing this forum. From what I've seen on this forum and based on our own example, contacting a Congressman always helps. Good luck! :-)

Fantastic advice, Thankyou so much! I'll put somethjng together in the next few days :)

Did you contact a Representative?

You mean like a congressman? I have no idea how that works :/ I'm the beneficiary but I've done all the filing really, my fiancé wouldn't have a clue about contacting someone like that! Is it relatively easy to do?
However - what is the number you call for USCIS to enquire about your status? I'd like to try that tomorrow...

I'm sure that we will get an RFE for wrong size passport photos so I just want to hear quick :(

Hey everyone - I have a question for the US petitioners...

My fiancé is having a problem getting hold of his tax return transcripts. We've ordered them TWICE online and once through their automated phone service. First time we tried was two months ago and he still hasn't received anything. He called the number that claims to be their 'customer service' but just got connected to the automated service again. I think he needs to speak to a real person to try to find out the problem...

Anyone had any similar problems? Or can anyone point me in the direction of how to actually speak to someone at the IRS to figure it out? I don't want this to cause an extra wait for us so I need to get it sorted!

Congratulations!!

I am now convinced that we will get an RFE, as we got passport photos taken together in England...I could kick myself for it now but I don't remember reading that they HAD to be 2"x2" when filling out the petition. UK passport photos are different. Now I just want them to let us know as soon as possible so that we don't have to wait even longer...

Congratulations on getting something though!! Celebrate the small victories :) in a week you will know what they need and your journey can continue its course.
I don't think there's anything to read into the fact that the status changed and said about your address, sounds like a clerical (or technical) error to me. I'm sure it's nothing abnormal!

I'm exactly the same, I visited Florida in February. My work have cut my hours from 30 a week down to 10 hours a week...so I have alot of new time to fill. If I had the approval I could start sorting through my stuff, get some jobs done for the move, arrange to spend time with people before I leave...this living in purgatory in the worst part of the process for me

well...it's been about a month since we saw the first September filers come through. they're at around 55% approvals right now, and others have had their RFEs. now that they've picked up their processing time to 5 months, we should have ALL September filers approved or with their RFEs in the next two/three weeks...right?? that's what I'm telling myself.

Everyday I go into work and tell people "today is going to be the day!" ....I think they're bored of it.

Woah guys! Try to keep positive! Remember that not everyone applying for the visa is a member on visa journey, there will have been plenty of approvals that we don't know about. We've had a really good few weeks with lots of members approved and positive stories to read. Don't lose faith.

I'm pretty set on trying to do squeeze in another trip to see my fiancé...if things are tough then just do what you have to to try and better the waiting time. The time WILL pass. There's nothing we can do about the system an we can't assume to know what's going on, so why get add stress to the process getting caught up about it.

Personally, reading the posts of frustration only make me feel worse, I much prefer the messages of support from everyone going through the same process as me, and congratulating them when they hear news. So keep it positive guys! We'll get there! And we can all look forward to a summer of love in the USA :)

I read that each person gets a stack of files, and so they work through that. So I guess I can imagine that if you were at the top of a pile of September 5th petitions, for example, you get approved faster than someone at the bottom of a September 1st pile, as the workers just get through their own stack. Makes it totally random and annoying, but CSC do seem to be overly irratic at the moment...

Exactly how I feel! It gets tough to be positive when you don't even have any idea how long you have to wait to see each other again. So happy for the September filers who have been approved already - I just hope the rest of us aren't far behind!

I don't think we can set much store by the timelines now - it will be being pushed back by the people who haven't updated their timelines etc etc. 3 weeks until I hit my 6 month mark....

Wow...an extra two months past the 6 month mark would certainly depress me...I hope that doesn't happen for any of us.
Could you wait and see if your petition is on track before you cancel? Also there's nothing to stop him coming to be with you in DR until your petition goes through - that's what we would be doing if jobs allowed it.
I'm getting desperate too - but I know that we will go through this process at some point anyway. Don't rush to throw away the 5 months of waiting you've already done if you know you will start the process all over one day

Our thinking exactly! Ill be so happy to just be together. Plus once we arrive we have to sort out permission to work and residency and all the rest! I wouldn't want my wedding without my family there either, so it makes sense to have a ceremony when we can afford to celebrate properly with everyone :)

Out of curiosity, with all the uncertainty about when this process will be over, is anyone actually making proper plans for a wedding?? I'm so glad now that we agreed to do a ceremony further down the line...I don't think they can expect anyone to have a big white wedding at 3 months notice!

Isn't it odd how much timelines vary?? Scott65, your estimate of NOA2 says between jan 13 and feb 28...which is a huge gap! Whereas mine is just march 28 to April 4 (as of today) - a gap of just 6 days. I'm at VSC not CSC, but still it's so weird! I wonder what causes that??

5 months for me is feb 24...and I heard with London you usually wait about two months after approval until interview. So april 24 at the earliest for me maybe...Man that seems a long time from now!

Well if the VJ stats are to be believed then VSC is running two whole months behind CSC :( I have a horrible feeling that Vermont filers we may have to wait our full 6 months to approval...from looking at igor's list I don't see evidence of this "5.2 months".....

The waiting is the worst!

Jacque67 -- I'm off to see him in 2 weeks time - already have so much to save for in the US but i couldnt go the while process without seeing him!

now preparing big time to be questioned at the border and hoping to be let through without a fuss. I shall report back to everyone how it goes! Really nervous that they will give me a grilling or not let me through :/

Vermont filers I think we're looking at approval some time in march...any reason to be more optimistic than that?? :( perhaps with no RFEs??

Hey everyone! I'm NOA1 September 24, with Vermont uggghhh, just hoping I sent enough evidence so RFEs won't slow it down even more. Really want to be moving to Florida in may but I think that's optimistic!!

Jacque67 you're in England too?? I'm down in Cornwall with my parents, waiting for K1 and dying of boredom. If you don't see your other half until your K1 then I really hope for speedy process for you!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsService request after 5 months

Customer service reps usually can't put in a service request when it's still in "processing times". Tier 2 can usually put them through. Tier 2 has more access and are actual officers, rather than the customer reps you deal with first. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisiting is bittersweet

There are alot of negative attitudes and stereotyping that people not in this process have.  So I have chosen, while going through the distance, wait, stress, and frustration, not to tell my friends or family until visa is in hand.  That way I can just focus on the positive, uplifting, happy relationship I have without all the nay sayers.  Meanwhile we have each other and VJ to support our journey!

Agree completely. My wife and I have done both long distance for several years while dating and engaged, and living outside the US together while waiting for my visa after marriage. During both long periods of time, we've had unwanted comments and opinions given to us by family members and friends on both sides. If we could do the whole thing again, I'd probably use your methodology of simply not telling anyone.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisiting is bittersweet

My wife and I are in slightly different circumstances, but we understand how you feel.

We are currently both living in the UK - my wife intended to be here for only around a year while I finished off with work. Now, due to USCIS delays, we've been here for around two years.

We go back to visit her family in Florida every few months, but leaving to come back to the UK is very difficult for both of us. She doesn't like living in the UK, and feels her life has been put on hold here (career, education etc.) because she can't really do anything due to the fact that we're leaving, we just don't know when. She also misses her family and friends immensely. It's largely the same for me now, I haven't been able to make any major changes in my life or make any real decisions because I know we're leaving, but it's taken a lot longer than we thought it would. This has caused us a long series of problems, leaving us both depressed and very stressed, and it's been like this since not long after we filed for our i130 in May 2013.

Going back to Florida feels like leaving all that stress and very lengthy periods of waiting behind us, only to have to come back to a couple of weeks later and all of our problems and stresses are still here waiting for us, not to mention that it seems to be grey and raining almost every time we land back in the UK. I hugged my wife as she was crying last time we were waiting in Orlando airport to come back. Thankfully, we probably won't have to go through the process of coming back to the UK again, as we're not too far off case completion in the NVC, so the next time we fly to Orlando, there shouldn't be a return flight.

It's been one rocky and nasty journey, which I'm glad we'll only ever have to do once in our lives. I wish you all luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPPROVED INTERVIEW REFUSED VISA ON CEAC WEBSITE

THANK YOU GOD!!!! Thank you VJ Family for being so supportive of us yesterday.  Last night we went to church here in Santo Domingo and the entire church along with all of you (our friends) and family stood firm on God's faith.

Ok so here is the latest update:

1.Yesterday we called the NVC to have them look at our case in their system. They said our case was opened and they didn't have any notes in the systems indicating a delay. They sent an email to the Embassy here in Santo Domingo. They told us to wait for a response via e-mail. ClockWatch2.gif

2. I needed to speak with someone face to face so we decided to visit the Embassy. helpsmilie.gif  We arrived at the Embassy at 8:25am to see if we could speak to someone regarding our case. FYI if you ever have to go to the Embassy on behalf of your case, you have to arrive before 8am to get a ticket for window #27 or window #28 which is located outside the Embassy. Since we didn't know this we were told to come back tomorrow because we were too late to get in line. There were 2 lines with about 20 people waiting. After a few minutes of speaking to a few ladies and explaining our case briefly we were granted Favour and were admitted in the line to wait. Sigh....smile.png

3. We were called to window #28 to speak with this very nice lady. We explained that we were approved on December 23, 2013 and we were still waiting for his passport to arrive with his visa. She asked did we pay the Domex, we said yes, she asked to see our receipt, which we had.good.gif  We had our entire file with us along with evidence which weighs about 10 pounds or more! yes.gif We were told that Santo Domingo is the 2nd busiest country processing visa's at this time which is why there is a delay.  She checked her computer and said there is not a problem, you were approved, no worries, just wait for your passport to arrive. I explained to her the information on CEAC website. Her words were "Oh no don't pay attention to that, that form doesn't matter. What matters is what is in my computer and there is not a problem with your case. I will go ahead and send an email to see what the hold up is with your visa, but the only thing I can tell you is to wait, it could take up to 6 weeks."

4. No problem with our case, and just wait. Yippeee music to our ears! kicking.gif

5. FYI- We have called the Domex a million times and it is hard to get through. So we decided to visit the office face to face to see why its so hard for them to answer the phone. To my surprise the office didn't have that many representatives working. We spoke with a young lady behind the desk and she informed us that they have office hours on Saturday's but no one answers the phones. So don't call on saturday's.

6. By the time we returned home, there was an email waiting for us saying,

"Good morning,

Thank you for your inquiry below regarding the status of your K-1 Fiancée Visa application.

To continue with the process of his visa, Mr. Juan Alberto Lopez needs to call 809-200-3232 to schedule an appointment in order to sign his DS-156 application.
