By the way, does anyone know how long to expect for the visa? We have learned not to plan too much, but we would like to start making some preliminary preparations. It seems that I recall someone saying 4 business days, but then other people say 1-2. Does it help that our medical will be done well in advance?

Snags can always occur, but we do hope that this thing is almost over! We certainly owe it to you guys for the support!

Cheers!

Barry had his interview July 1st Tuesday and received a text from the courier today that his passport/visa will be delivered tomorrow...they say it takes 5 days, but it's been taking an average of 2-3 days...Good Luck!

Barry had his interview this morning and was approved! His appointment was for 8:30 and by 4:45 he was calling me with the news. They only asked for his police certificate, birth certificate, and I-134, they looked at pay stubs and letter from employer which they returned...that's it.

United Kingdomswine flu
My husband is returning to the UK for a visit with family this week and we live in an area that had a positive isolated case of swine flu. After more than a week no other cases have appeared locally. He will carry on as usual unless of course he is ill. I'm an RN and I can tell you those masks do work! You just need the right one...there are different types. Barry will have one in his carry on just in case some fool decides to travel sick!

United KingdomUK electrical appliances in the US
Barry had several UK electrics such as computer, stereo, shaver, cell phone, and tools...they all work, charge nicely on US 220 circuit we had installed with UK power strips adapted for the US outlets.

United KingdomYes!! It's another shipping thread
We used U Pak We Ship also and are still waiting for Barry's things that were picked up on July 7th. He's emailed them and they sent a CC of an e-mail they sent to EURO something or other here in the US advising that the ship docked in Charleston on Aug 8th and to please advise to the location of the client's belongings...still haven't received a response to that...

United KingdomYes!! It's another shipping thread
Barry called for quotes from 3 of the shipping companies listed in this thread...Excess Baggage, Alllied Pickfords, and Upak We Ship....for his 19 boxes appr. 98 cuft, he received quotes of £855 from excess baggage, £750 from Allied and £650 from Upak we ship...that is door to door they are providing packing for some odd sized pieces also....his quote is good for 3 months...

So it's U Pak We Ship for us!

Barry was approved today. He left car, phone and keys at his Mum's who is just 15 minutes away by train....

If you are traveling by train, can't you leave keys, phone etc. in a lock up there? It is very frustrating for sure! Good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 November 2010 Filers
Congrats to the approvals!

Sorry about those that received RFE's...we sent a few pictures from the marriage to present, three notarized affidavits, copies of joint 2008 and 2009 tax returns, copies of joint house ownership (deed as well as real estate taxes), joint auto insurance, joint health insurance, joint bank account statements (a few covering the time of marriage til present) copies of medical and dental bills for the two years showing Barry on my health insurance, Barry's driver's license, joint Sam's club cards...I sometimes wonder what they expect...we were approved quickly though...goodluck to everyone waiting!
