K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIn a twiddle! Need help and advice.

Read the Guides section....there is the K-1 for fiancés and the K-3 for those married and wanting to come to the US. Read Read Read!!!! Talk with your girlfriend (have her read the guides too) and decide which path is right for you. This is a long process, so there's not really a quick fix here. I do know the K-1 is quicker than the K-3. My fiancé and I went the K-1 path and we're almost done with what I call Phase I :)

Hope this helps...and best wishes with whatever path you both decide on. :)

Thanks for your reply Karen, I am going to have a read with my girlfriend, and let you know what we decide on. One more question though, if we choose any of the options, we will most probably have to be apart from each other? Or is it possible that we take a route that will enable us to stay together?

Thanks

Martin

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIn a twiddle! Need help and advice.
Hello guys,

I am a British Citizen, I met my girlfriend two years ago at university. She was an international student. In May of 2004, her studies had finished and she had to return back to the states. We continued our relationship while I was still in the UK. I started making trips to California to see her, I worked in the UK for a year in that time and saved all the money I earned to go over and visit her as much as I could. Since May 2004 I have probably been to the US in excess of 10 times. In the first year I would usually go for around 5 days then fly home. In 2005 I quit my job and decided that I wanted to spend some more time with her. I knew that I had up to three months to stay on the visa waiver program, so I stayed a couple of trips for up to 2-3 months at a time, spending time with her and traveling around the US. I flew to Los Angeles a month ago and I have never been so hassled in my life, they interrogated me, they searched me and interrogated me some more. Thank god I got a nice customs officer, she basically said, even though I have never overstayed my welcome, and have stuck to the rules, it looks like I am spending more time in the states than the UK, which is true I guess. They let me in and everything was ok.

My issue is this, my girlfriend and I are looking to get married as soon as possible. I would like to know what the best route to take is, so that I can stay with her and not have to be separated. I am at my wits end now, I think I wont be allowed back in next time because of my so called “travel patterns”. I don’t know what to do, and don’t want to screw up my chances of making a life with my girlfriend in LA. Is anyone in the same, or similar situation?

Any advice is greatly appreciated,

Best Regards

Martin

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCSC having a laugh?
Hi Again guys,

Thanks for the feedback. I am starting to worry a little now. Your replies make it seem as if I am GOING to get an RFE. When we sent off our application form we made sure we added as much information as possible to prevent getting an RFE.

Some of the things we included are:

Airline boarding passes (In excess of 40)

Hotel and flight reservations and itineraries with BOTH our names on them

FUTURE Travel arranagements for summer and winter holidays.

Airline milleage breakdown and statements

Pictures of our tattoos that we got of each others names

10+ pictures of us in London, LA and Paris together.

Pictures of engagement ring

5+ Telephone bills over 2 years showing in excess of $1000 on each bill of calls between us.

Credit card statements to prove we were in the same place at the same time.

Copy of both our passports higlighting all customs stamps (UK and USA).

Copy of our university transcripts to show we attended university in london at the same time, which is where we met.

IF they do send me an RFE, what the hell could i send them that i havent already sent? There is literally nothing?

Any feedback is appreciated.

I think it is nearing three months with no news, touches or anything from CSC. My fiance has flown over to London and is living me while this is in processing. Have i anything to worry about at all? Are they naturally this slow?

Thanks

My girlfriend is actually in London with me now but lives in Los Angeles, CA. We would both be moving to NYC, she obviously is a US citizen. I want to go through the K-1 visa process as i believe it will be quicker than obtaining a work visa? I need to get to NYC in the quickest time possible and i dont know which route to take.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIn a pickle!
Hi Guys,

I am in the process of the K1 visa and it has been going for 3 months now. I am a business man and i have been put in this awkward situation. My new affiliation with my company and another one means I will need to move to NYC fairly quickly. My question is this! Is there anyway i can move to NYC while my VISA is processing? The US based company has agreed to sponsor me and will take care of any application processes but i am wondering if this is at all possible? Is there any way i can move to NYC while my K-1 is processing and US company is willing to sponsor me?

Any help is appreciated,

Martin

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBusiness trip with K1 processing
Good Morning chaps and chapesses!

I have my K1 fiance visa application processing, we just sent off our RFE last week. My dilema is now this. I work for an American company, however i am based in London. I need to attend a training week in Dallas Texas for 12 days at the end of the month. I am really nervous that i am going to have trouble at immigration since i have my VISA processing. Not to mention i have had trouble before at LAX countless times when i have been interogated due to frequent number of trips.

My question is this, will i have problems clearing immigration at DFW when i land due to my situation. I remember a post before advising to bring as much documentation as possible to prove ones intent to return. I have all confirmation documentation for hotels, the training course etc I also have an apartment in London and will bring my lease aggrement etc.

Is there anything else i can prepare for before this trip to make it go smoothly.

Any help is appreciated.

Best Regards

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSuccessful trip to US while visa is processing
Hi Guys,

A while back I posted a thread regarding a trip to the US i had planned for business. I am in the process of a K-1 visa and we are awaiting approval after we sent our RFE back. CSC is our service center. I posted before regarding my worries about travelling to US even though i had a visa processing.

I decided to take the chance and go to the states as it was important i attended a meeting in Dallas. I had a connecting flight in JFK. I set off on the 30th of June from London Heathrow bound for JFK. When i landed and got the customs and immigration area i approached the officer. He took my passport and didnt say anything, he took my finger prints andd photograph and stamped me in.

Everything went smoothly and there was no mention of anything at all. So it is possible to travel to the US even though your VISA is processing. I had my whole life on paper just in case. Documents included things such as lease agreements, bills, employment documentation, future travel plans.

Good luck to all that try to enter the US while processing.

I did the exact same thing. I am London and my mom mailed me the RFE and I mailed it back from London. We were approved without any problems.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresfrequency of visits to the us
I did what you are doing for a whole year with some trips over 60 days to be with my fiance at the time. I am lucky enough to have a job that I can work from pretty much anywhere in the world so i decided to go over and be with her. The first two trips were fine but i started getting grief on the third trip onwards. My mistake was not handing in my I-94 departure record everytime i left the states. Because i didnt turn them in it looked like i didnt leave and they penalized me for that. It came to a point that everytime i landed at lax i just expected a 3 hour wait and interrogation. I told them the truth and said i was travelling around with my girlfriend from time to time too. It eventually got to the last trip when they said they would deport me if i came back really soon again.

To sum up.

1. They want to see that you live more in your own country than the USA.
2. Bring paperwork of all your affiliation to your home country. House deeds, job letters etc.
3. Fly into different airports and then onto your final destination.

Hope this helps you somewhat
