CanadaVisting during VisaProcess for Dual Citizens
Hi All, I have dual citizenship, I have a canadian passport and a british passport. I mostly travel on my Canadian passport as it seems to be less hassle at the pre-clearance customs. My question is.... While I am in the K1 process and I travel back and fourth to visit my fiance, if I use my british passport will they still know that I am applying for a visa. Its no big deal to me as I have enough evidence to show my ties to Canada, lease agreements, letter from my employer etc and I know the border agents at the airport from flying back and fourth every 2 weeks, but I was curious if it would show up on their system.

CanadaCan you live in the USA while waiting for visa
QUOTE (Crikey! @ Feb 20 2008, 03:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You'll find the search feature pretty handy, Maritimer. Many people have asked the same questions you have, so pretty much all the information is available in a search. If you begin here you can compare visas. You'll also want to visit the other forums to get a general idea of what questions go where. Have fun!

CanadaCan you live in the USA while waiting for visa
Hi all, just wondering, if you apply for the K1 visa can you live in the USA while its getting processed. I know I can't work and I would have to go back to Canada after 6 months or when the interview is which ever comes first. What about if we applied for a K3 visa if I got married down there could I stay there and apply or would I have to come home and wait.

CanadaAll Time Dumbest Questions asked by Tourists to Banff Park

All Time Dumbest Questions Asked By Tourists to Banff Park

Yes, they're ALL TRUE as heard at the information kiosks manned by Parks
Canada staff!

1. How do the elk know they're supposed to cross at the "Elk Crossing"
signs?

2. At what elevation does an elk become a moose?

3. Tourist: "How do you pronounce 'Elk'?"
Park Information Staff: "'Elk.'"
Tourist: "Oh."

4. Are the bears with collars tame?

5. Is there anywhere I can see the bears pose?

6. Is it okay to keep an open bag of bacon on the picnic table, or should I
store it in my tent?

7. Where can I find Alpine Flamingos?

8. I saw an animal on the way to Banff today -- could you tell me what it
was?

9. Are there birds in Canada?

10. Did I miss the turnoff for Canada?

11. Where does Alberta end and Canada begin?

12. Do you have a map of the State of Jasper?

13. Is this the part of Canada that speaks French, or is that Saskatchewan?

14. If I go to B.C., do I have to go through Ontario?

15. Which is the way to the Columbia Rice fields?

16. How far is Banff from Canada?

17. What's the best way to see Canada in a day?

18. Do they search you at the B.C. border?

19. When we enter B.C., do we have to convert our money to British pounds?

20. Where can I buy a raccoon hat? ALL Canadians own one, don't they?

21. Are there phones in Banff?

22. So it's eight kilometers away... is that in miles?

23. We're on the decibel system, you know.

24. Where can I get my husband really, REALLY, lost??

25. Is that two kilometers by foot or by car?

26. Don't you Canadians know anything?

27. Where do you put the animals at night?

28. Tourist: "How do you get your lakes so blue?"
Park staff: "We take the water out in the winter and paint the bottom."
Tourist: "Oh!"

CanadaMade it through

I'm going to give it a try anyhow and see what happens. Would you know the online site Address

Thanks Allie

Sure do! There is a trick with ONT being the province that you are applying in (Out of Canada Claims). Can someone else help on that one as I am forgetting exactly how that works!

http://www100.hrdc-d...lish/home2.html

Is the filing procedure different when outside Canada.? I'm going to file anyhow even though I expect em to say I left my job too soon
I plan on telling them I was here in the US with Lorry from Feb to May making preparations for my relocation and also neeeded some of the time from when I left my job to sell my house and car and get things finalized in Canada. Hopefully that'll fly but I'm not really expecting them to approve the claim We'll see :)

It's not really "different" - it's just that all out of country people get processed throug the Belleville Office. Therefore all Out of Country claims go through ONT (instead of the province where you lived - if you lived elsewhere). Other than proving that you are "work authrorized", I don't think ther'es much difference (well the taxing is higher cause you don't live in Canada & they give you less weeks) but other than that it's EXACTLY the same procedure to apply etc. (you can do it online - you just have to send all the documents to Belleville).

Okay thanks for the info I'll fill out the claim forms this afternoon

I filed online. Besides sending the ROE to them will they be wanting anything else?

Congrats!! EAD, dont forget your EI if u qualify!!

Thanks Flames I don't know if it's worth even trying for my EI. I left my job mid Feb. trying to get everything organized with selling my home and car.
I actually thought I would have been here in Apr. but MTL took awhile with the interview
So I'm almost positive the EI will say I quit too early and not entitled. I may just file and see how it goes I suppose It wouldn't hurt to file anyhow

No harm in applying online! It does take a bit of time but the worst they can say is no!

Hi everyone I activated my K1 Visa at Halifax Airport yesterday at 1:30 p.m.and got into Spokane at 12:30 a.m. There were plane delays due to thunder stroms in Chicago so I lost 2 hrs time getting here. All the same though Lorry was here waiting with her beautiful smile :):)
I had a very pleasant POE at Halifax. They were very friendly and helpful took about 25 minutes to do up the stamping and paperwork they required only questions were "What's your Fiance's name, Where's she live, whens the Wedding'
When the Lady finished the stamping of everythng I asked "can I get an Employment Authorization stamp here" She said I don't see why not but I'll ask to make sure. She came back told me yep that's no problem so she stamped the back of the I 94, stamped in my passport then wrote an A # and also wrote Employment Authorized under the A# and initialed it
One question I have. I now have the Employment stamp just how long is that stamp good for? Do I still apply for the EAD? I have to now get SSN before I can use it though right?

We're getting married July 7 in the back yard. Pray it doesn't rain on our Special Day. Lorry said to pass along best wishes to all and thanks so much to everyone for helping us get to this point in our journey.
Next on the agenda AOS, Advance Parole We'll be seeking all your help in the near future. This site and the folks on here are Awesome, Simply the Best

Good luck to all, Best Regards
Allie & Lorry

PS: CutienPurg, I got my rifles through no problem. I brought on down, time to Git Er Done now LOL LOL
Very happy they let me take em with me. Take care

CanadaWhat if the USC has a criminal record ...
Hi Lynamon. I don't think it will matter to them, as was previously stated he's already a US Citizen and you're the person seeking addmittance into the Country.
I made 4 visits to Lorry they didn't ask why she didn't visit me in Canada Actually all they were interested in was the meeting in person part I guess.
Don't worry, everything will be alright, you'll be very happy on July 18 leaving that building

CanadaUgh!
Others can think or say what they want and yeah sometimes it hits home and is hurtful. You know why you're making the move and that's all that matters. If they had a brain at all they would realize you're already leaving one great Country which has everything you need and going to another which also is great and has everything too including your fiance
TennCan is right, everything is weighed out on making the decision of relocating and in the end both you and your fiance know the decision is the right one
Those accusations are as worthless as those who make em don't worry about them.

Hi Lynette I don't know that it matters if it's folded when I received mine the Postal Service had a big crease on one end. Maybe you can roll it up and put a rubber band around it. They (MTL) stamp thier return address on the envelope

Allie

CanadaWOW, MTL Suprises me!
Congrats on receiving the Visa. I have nothing bad to say about the MTL Consulate as far as the interview day and mailing of the Visa went. It's getting up to that point and dealing with a couple of front line ignorant people. Not all of em but there are a couple that are very rude and ignorant in answering inquiries. They need some brushing up on telephone manner and communications 101
Beyond those few, everyone else at the MTL Consulate was very pleasant and nice
My interview was the 19 th June and they had the Visa in the mail on the 20th Canada Post got it to me on the 25

CanadaRound 2 questions lol lol
On the Advance Parole Application part 7 asks "for how many trips do you intend to use this document" one trip more than one trip
Part 3 asks, date of intended departure, intended length of trip. How do I answer these?

I don't have a set amount of trips nor do I know when or for how long. I only require the Advance Parole Document in case something drastic happens Family wise back in Canada

Yup, file everything together. Also bring any other vaccination records with you to the CS when you get the vaccination worksheet transferred. Some CS's will not transfer it without other proof (like from your family doctor, etc.)... yeah, I know... just totally depends on the CS.

Thanks Misa

CanadaRound 2 questions lol lol

1. Yup, an I-864 needs to accompany the I-485. You can use the I-864EZ if there's only one sponsored immigrant, no cosponsors and using only income (no assets).

2. Okay to file AP and EAD along in the same package (separate cheques though for each application) - if filing before July 30

3. Don't forget to include the $70 biometrics fee with the I-485 fee - if filing before July 30

Hi Misa, thanks for the info. Do the AP and EAD accompany the AOS when I send it in?

Thanks
