K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDecree Absolute for UK
Hey there,
Not sure if my response will be of any help. I am a Canadian citizen and my USC fiance also had a Decree Absolute. His didn't have any missplellings or wrong dates but it was over 20 years old and in really bad condition very faded and hard to read. We sent a photo copy of it with the I-129F and I was also worried about getting an RFE over it. We didn't get any RFE's and we are now waiting on our packet 4 from Montreal. I am having him send the original to me to take with me to Montreal to the interview just incase but so far no one seems to have had a problem with it. Hope it helps.

We didn't get touched either from November 30th until January 30th when we got our NOA2. So it may not be a bad sign.

I was wondering the same thing Joel! But figured that I'd just keep it to myself ya'll just seemed to be having to much fun with it.
Did you get the DS230 and checklist sent back? I saw the public health nurse yesterday and got my updated immunization record and had my tetnus updated so I'm all set there. All I have to do now is wait for the interview date and my medical appointment. I'm hoping Caleb's passport will show up this week so I can go and try and get an earlier date for the medical. I called passport Canada yesterday and they said it should be here by the 13th of March I sure hope they are right.
How's it going with you did you get a friend to drive to Halifax with you? Good luck tomorrow with it. post everything when you get back and let me know the fees you were charged and how worried I need to be. LOL

Yep, Karen and Joel and Mark and I have been just days apart the whole way through. The embassy received my checklist on March 2nd. I sent it xpresspost with the requirement to be signed for so I would know when it got there, and who signed for it. I printed it off and have it in my file so I'll know who's head I need to hunt if they say it got lost. LOL
Karen your daughter sounds a lot like my youngest daughter she's almost 15 and she has been that way her whole life. The oldest one who by the way is at RMC (royal military college with a full scholarship have to do my oh so proud mamma rant here) has always been kind of a loner always the leader and never really cared what others though definitely military material.
Did you say you are coming to Canada for Joels interview Karen? That will be nice. I am also driving to Montreal for mine. We don't think Mark will be able to come since he came last week for our little guys second birthday and it's his busiest time at work right now. But my parents will come along with me. Even though they can't come in I'll know they are close for moral support. That and they are both retired and have never been anywhere outside of Nova Scotia so the one good thing that came from all this besides the obvious (Mark and I will be together) they will be able to see some other places in this world. They are like little kids at christmas waiting for it all to happen.

Now Peggy tell us how to add the flags and we are all set!!! Can't ya'll tell I have way to much time on my hands here??BTW how old is your daughter Karen. I have 2 from a previous marriage they are almost 19 and almost 15 and like yours they adore Mark. And Mark and I have a little guy, Caleb he just turned 2 last week.

LOL!!! Well I'm driving the whole 2150 miles from my door to his. But if I had to I'd walk every step of the way carrying our 2 year old son. I am so over this waiting thing. My family are sick of my whinning and my daughters are about ready to put me in a box and mail me there!! And our little guy is ready too, since Mark left on Sunday after his visit he comes to me once a day at the very least and grabs his coat and this Thomas the trains and say go home Mommy , go home!!! Heartbreaking as it is to hear it's nice to know he wants to be home as bad as I do.

Hey Karen and Joel,
Just curious about how and when Joel plans on coming to the USA after the visa approval? Just wondering if he's like me and impatient I plan on coming back to Nova Scotia from Montreal to load up the car and drive to Alabama as soon as possible. My parents are coming with my son and I to visit and help make the wedding plans and staying with us until after the wedding. That has to be the best part of being from Canada we don't need to go through an tourist visa stuff to come to visit. And since they are both retired they can stay up to and after the 90 day requirement for the wedding. I think they are as anxious and excited as I am, watching the mail everyday. It is usually a race between my mom and I to the mail each day. And Mark's family are looking forward to meeting them and getting to know them also.

Hey Karen,
I'm coming to Montgomery Alabama. And getting together would be great. Me and Peggy are about an hour away from each other. I have already suggested it to her too. But getting together sounds great. Once all this is over and we are all in the USA that will definitely a reason to celebrate.

Me again, wondering if you, Karen or Peggy or anyone else herecan help me. I have a question about the I-134, my fiance sent them to me today and we are confused. Do we need to have 2 of them for each our son and I or 2 for me with our son included on it or just the one form. We have all the other letters from employers, letter from bank and the tax returns. We are just both unsure of the actual I-134 form it's self. Right now I have 2 I-134 forms and 2 of all the rest all notorized, but I read somewhere we need one for each person so I am assuming we need one for our son too. With his name on it on the line that says this affidavit is executed on behave of and none on the lines where is asks for spouse and children?? EWWWWWWWW I am so confused my head is aching.

Yeah mine was quick too, but when I sent for my sons I sent his short form birth certificate and when they saw he had a USC father they wanted to see his long form and make sure my fiance knew about it. Guess I should have sent a note telling them I was requesting the passport for a K1 visa to move there maybe it would ahve gotten procesed quicker if they knew the passport was to take him to his father and not away from him. My mistake..............

LOL Guess that makes 3 of us. I have been dreading it also. I hate all those one way streets!! I may go the night before and stay somewhere in the city so I don't have to be on the road so early with the little guy our appointment is at 10:30am. I made my appointment after the 19th of March hoping that my sons passport will be here by then since I had to send them both his birth certificates the (short and long form). Our appointment is for the 21st of March I'm sure we won't be getting an interview before that but if we do I will just go pay for yet another birth certificate for the little guy and move our medical appointment up. I checked with them when I booked it and they said I can rebook it at an earlier date if the passport shows up sooner. Can't believe it has been taking so long waiting for it. I applied back in November but with them requesting the second birth certificate and the holidays I am still here waiting.

Hey Joel,
When I called the same Doctor she told me that you go to the hospital there after the medical I think and have it done. She said it will cost about $103.00 at the hospital and then the fee for the medical with Dr. Doane. I took notes while I was on the phone with her heres everything I have.......
1. you need either passport or photo id ( drivers license) and birth certificate.
2. immunization record to the best of your knowledge ( her words )
3. 3 passport pic's
4. Medical fee $150.00 (Can.)
5. you need to be sure your MMR and tetnus immunizations are up to date if not you can get them there for $15.00 each. ( I called the department of health and you can have them done there for no cost)
6. you go to the hospital there at get x-ray and bloodwork ( she said Approximately $103.00)
7. $20.00 to have medical report couriered to you if you don't live in the city to pick it up when it's ready.

She also stressed repeatedly not to be late ( and I mean repeatedly ) She said they are in the Quinpool building in the back, there is lots of parking and and they are located across the hall from Wendy's. And something about a green door I can't seem to recall exactly. Hope this all helps.

Don't feel silly Adele, you need to fill them out to bring with you. Just think of it as one less thing to worry about when getting ready to go to your interview. Just remember not to sign them. They need to be signed at the interview.

Hi Adele, not certain if all embassy's require the same thing but here in Canada at the Montreal embassy that's all I was required to send back. The DS230 filled out but not signed and the checklist the rest I bring with me to the interview. Hope it helps. I'm sure someone from UK will have advice for you soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresoff to medical
Hey guys, thanks for the wishes. Made it there and back relatively painless. But odd. Being a nurse I am having trouble figuring out just what communicable diseases I could possibly bring on my insteps among other things. Not sure but what the heck. That has got to be one of the stupidest parts of this process. Get a medical from someone who doesn't even know your medical history you'd think they'd request your medical records from you family Doctor to be sure they were getting the truth. It was just a very odd experience. Other than the blood work and X-ray I could have told them anything. ODD very ODD. Not what I was expecting for sure. But I am glad it's over. BTW Joel how long did it take for you to get your's sent to you? And yeah Dr. Doane is cool I guess. OK that's my rant over and done!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresupdate to yesterdays rant!!
Well guys calmed down a bit today so I called the Montreal Embassy. What a mistake. But it did have a blessing. When I called to ask about an interview date the lady on the phone announces that they are waiting on my DS230. She said they have the checklist but not the form. So I explained that they have to have it so she went and looked, sure enough they found it. But then I was freaking about interviews being scheduled as they receive them. So here I was thinking they had it as of the 2nd of March. But she said they would put it in as receiving it that date and I would get a May interview and that was it. So I guess it's back to waiting some more. But the blessing is if I hadn't have call god only knows how long before someone actually decided to look into where it might be. So Looks like May. Thanks everyone who suggested calling them I probably wouldn't have done it for a few more weeks then who knows what time I'd have gotten and interview.

Better wait until I am in a much better mood to call anyone. Heck I don't even like my own company right now I'm such a sour puss. Better not take the chance!! Maybe tomorrow. If nothing else it may wake them up and let them know I'm more than the number they think I am.

To be clearer I xpress posted my checklist and DS230 and it was signed for in Montreal at 9:22am March 2nd 2006. So they have had it in their little hands since then. Grrrrrrrrrr sorry guys to be ranting but I don't do patient well....................................
There are a few of us all in the same time frame here and like you gsmaclean I have been watching everyone elses timelines. I'm sure right now at this exact moment someone in a little cubical in Montreal is haunting the VJ site and laughing at all up poor souls sitting here waiting for them to get up and get back to work. :bonk:

Thank you pri, Montreal recieved my checklist and DS230 on the 2nd of March. So maybe it will be soon. I sure hope so this waiting is really messing with me. Maybe I'm not coping as well as I should be but I never was a patient person and with a little guy wanting to go home every day and missing daddy it's getting tough with each day that goes by with out any news. Maybe the embassy's should be renamed torture chambers Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  . I'll be nicer tomorrow I promise. :innocent:

Thanks Carrie, that gives me a little hope it's been over 3 weeks now and I'm getting a little crazy sitting here waiting for it. Even if the interview date was 2 months away it wouldn't matter just to have a date. Any ray of hope would be nice right now. No offense zyggy I know you were only being realistic but ummmmmm that wasn't a ray of hope or sunshine there.

Ok I'm about ready to break here. I know I'm probably being impatient, but has anyone with a recent packet 3 from Montreal gotten an interview date. We got our packet 3 in Feb. and they received the checklist and DS230 on March 2nd. Is it too soon to be looking for packet 4?? 21 days!!! Are they torturing us or what? Ok all better just needed to vent and see if anyone else has gotten anything from Montreal lately. Just need a little hope that everyone there hasn't gone on strike or quit or died and no one told all us poor saps waiting from them.
