Ok they are done, let me know which ones don't work and I'll try to fiddle with them. :)

I apologize, I didn't even think about changing the links within the thread itself, it didn't occur to me to do that! So thanks for bringing it up. :)

Sorry to hear that leolexi. :( Unfortunately, Ontario is not known for their efficiency when it comes to birth certificates, and this just reconfirms it. Sorry to hear there will be a delay for you. So we need to spread the word around or pin it somewhere that if you are from Ontario, order the long form birth certificate sooner rather than later.

Marie -- not a problem, just give me a shout when you're ready. :)

My parents who live on the South Shore of NS got about 2 ft (50cm) of snow last night. I called this morning and my father was out with his snowblower helping out all the little old ladies in the community that needed his help. ;) We are very happy we all pitched in and got that for him for Christmas last year! Mom sent me some pictures, I'll have to post one. :)

Peggy, I so remember "White Juan"!!!!! I was housesitting for some friends, and I was stuck indoors for about 36 hours until the storm was over, and then I had to push my way out the door -- the snow was about 3 and a half feet up the door! I went looking for a shovel, and couldn't find anything (I eventually found them hidden in the corner in the basement) but -- get this -- an ELECTRIC snowblower that I swear wasn't big enough to blow sand, let alone 3 feet of snow. The neighbor kid finally made it over the next day with his snowblower. Oye, that was a crazy couple of days!

I am serious guys, if any of you need new knitted dishcloths, holler at me, and I will make them. Or, if you want to do them yourselves, I can mail you a copy of my pattern, just PM me!. I got it during my first knitting lesson, so once you master the knit stitch, increasing, decreasing and yarn over to make a hole, you're good to go -- I know that sounds overwhelming, but most of the people in the class had it figured out by the end of the two hours. :)

Marie, are you looking for info on getting your medical done in Montreal? I am a wee bit confused about what you are looking for :) My only concern is it took me a week to get my sealed envelope of results from the medical I had in Halifax -- the doctor had to wait for the reports from the blood work and such from the hospital before he could send them to me. So I am not sure what to tell you. :(

Yay, visitors to my craft blog! LOL I need to update that sucker.....

I really think the knitted dishcloths are a Nova Scotia thing, for sure! You wouldn't believe how many I got at my wedding shower hehe. My mom loves loves loves those kind of dishcloths, and they have to match her kitchen (oi vey LOL) -- I figure it makes her happy, and they are easy-peasy to make. If you ever run out, let me know and I'll make you some :)

And definitely share pictures of stuff you make -- me and Cerise love that stuff!

thanks guys, I hate being sick. :( I have to be really careful because I am susceptible to bronchitis, and this has threatened to go down that road, so I have been resting lots. And I come back and all heck has broken loose on here LOL. I am glad that we can still access the old stuff -- maybe we'll start ClearingHouse Part Deux to contain threads started here on the new forums. :)

PS. Karen -- I realized I haven't written ya in a dog's age -- I promise to get right on that. :)

Cassie, my understanding of DCF is that the beneficiary must have legal status in Canada for at least 6 months after applying - so I find your answer confusing too.

She would have to have Legal Permanent Resident status for 6 months before they can DCF, but considering how long an in-Canada LPR application can take, it is unlikely to be completed before they want to go to the US.

Right. What I was trying to say was that she can't be "in the process" of becoming a Canadian LPR to go the DCF route, it has to be completed and she has to wait at least 6 months after that to try DCF.

Do we have to complete her paperwork first in order to do DCF? Or just be "in the process"?

Your wife has to have her paperwork finished and she has to be considered a Canadian resident. "In the process" won't cut it, sorry.

Canadai-131 form (Advance Parole)
QUOTE (Yomtl @ Aug 12 2008, 01:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi!
When completing form i-131 (form for Advance Parole), they ask "On a separate sheet(s) of paper, please explain how you qualify for an advance parole document and what circumstances warrant issuance of advance parole. Include copies of any documents you wish considered."
Since I am filing for Advance Parole at the same time as I am filing for AOS, do I need to provide any extra explanations / documents (since copies of the K1 visa, I-94, etc...will already be attached to the AOS application)?

Yomtl:

even though you file for three different forms at the same time, they go off in different directions. If they ask for passport pictures in the AOS and the AP forms (as an example), you have to submit two sets of photographs, one set for each form.

i included a separate letter, indicating that I was applying for AOS, and AP as well. I then listed the reasons why I wanted AP (I had about six of them) and stated that I thought I would be using it at least once "mid-May" as well as a summertime trip (no specific dates indicated). Had no problems.

CanadaCanadians and Thunderstorms
Being from Nova Scotia, thunderstorms are relatively rare. I happened to move to a state with thunderstorm seasons (AKA spring and fall whistling.gif ) My hubby laughed at me when I kinda freaked out during the first one I experienced and said "wow, that was a bad one". he replied "oh you'll see, this was nothing"... and he was right, I've gotten quite immune to them now!
