My packet was logged the 3rd of February, so i am hoping they are on the every two month schedule. Got my fingers crossed they'll be doing it in the next week. I've been pretty good but the waiting lately is making me crazy/cranky. (:

CanadaK-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal
They signed for my packet 3 on January 20th, it wasnt logged in until the 3rd of February. Hoping to hear some good news soon. I called Monday and they just told me i was eligible for an interview but there wasnt one scheduled. When i started this process in September I had thought perhaps late Feb - late March for it to be done with. now I'm thinking late April to early June.

My dear, dear, how-did-she-know-I-loved-Godiva-too Secret Santa heart.gif ,

I most certainly did receive my package, and I thank you deeply from my chocolate-loving heart! I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, life has just been crazy since we got back from our Canadian Christmas trip and being on the computer for any length of time has been pretty much impossible until this weekend. The angels are lovely, and they will be on my tree next year! And I have to admit that the chocolate is ...... gone whistling.gif and it was very very tasty! thank you thank you thank you, you were too kind to me. smile.gif

What are your favorite treats? Godiva chocolates, peanut butter M&Ms, and I must admit I enjoy all things Cadbury's, even the Fruit and Nut! smile.gif

Favorite color? cobalt blue first, primarily jewel tones (no pastels)

What Christmas colors do you use? I'm a traditional red/green/gold/silver girl

What is your absolute favorite thing to shop for? (like: linens, stationery, games, clothing, food, vases ) Oh dear again! hehe I love shopping for my primary addictions, being knitting, cross stitching, and reading.

Hello

Thank you for your help everyone.
In the letter of intent, they ask about the embassy address, if the fiance is filling out the letter, should the embassy information listed be the one that he/she will be going to for the interview? If the US citizen is filling out the letter which embassy should they be placing on the form?

Thank you very much in advance for your help
Regards

Your letter and your fiance's letter should be addressed to the same consulate -- the one that the interview will take place. Depending on where the Canadian lives, it is either Montreal or Vancouver consulates. Since you live in Montreal, it will be the Montreal consulate. smile.gif

CanadaDitching/Abandoning Canadian Debt while living is U.S.
I have kept open my Canadian bank account with Royal Bank and automatic payments for my student loan, my credit card (which is now paid off yippee!) and my life insurance policy are taken out. We used to transfer money through paypal, but I now send a year's worth of cheques to my parents and they deposit one in my account every month to cover the payments. Works for us.

We have thought about consolidating the student loan here or just taking a loan here to pay it off, but we can't get a better interest rate than what I have going right now.

CanadaDitching/Abandoning Canadian Debt while living is U.S.
I'm with Reba. We plan on moving to Canada sometime in the near future, and I didn't want my credit in worse shape than it already was when I left. So, I set up internet banking and slowly but surely paid off my credit card debts and about half of my student loans since then. I also took advantage of any student loan debt relief program I could before leaving Canada (they can't do anything for you after you leave because you are no longer a resident). You've gotten some good advice in this thread, take care of your debt, IMHO. smile.gif

sad.gif So much sadness and frustration. I hope today is a better day for everyone, and that you will feel peace in your hearts. rose.gif

My neighbour behind me passed away. She had a stroke and lay for 24 hours all alone in that house before her son found her. She died, later, in the hospital. I feel horrible that we all went about our daily lives, never knowing she was in need of assistance. sad.gif

That happened to my beloved "nana" who lived across the street from where I grew up. By chance my parents had to go over there for something, and my dad found her in her basement at the base of the stairs, still alive but barely, she passed away soon after that. I think that is why I get anxious when I can't get ahold of my family after repeated attempts. Hugs to you, Krikit (don't beat yourself up too much) and my condolences to your neighbour's family.

Today the doctor said I have to go to the heart institute for testing, she has no idea what happened and is sure that it wasn't the medication, but does think it was a stroke, everyone at work is now worried and the boss is thinking of getting other to keep an eye on me and call me at work since I send the last 2 hours alone, damn there goes my nap time. crying.gif

Speaking as someone who has had a stroke -- go get testing done! This may have been a TIA or a small stroke -- usually these go undiagnosed and untreated, and you may suffer a bigger one later on. I don't want to scare you, but just want to gently nudge you in the direction of getting checked out and starting preventative treatment if needed. Oh and familiarize yourself and your co-workers with the warning signs of stroke so that you can be prepared. I hope something else is causing your symptoms, but obey your doctor just to make sure. smile.gif

Thank you for caring enough to nudge me in the right direction. It is still hard to know what happened, 2 doctors and nurse practioner are confused by the symptoms, I have had 2 of the TIA symptom and the symptoms for a drug mismatch wouldn't have lasted 8 days.
I have every intension of of the tests done as soon as an appointment can be set up, which should be in the next fe days. I think is has something to do with the operation I had the day before the the symptoms and my new diet, maybe it the pizza and pepsi that my body is missing and craving.
My co-workers are well aware of my possible condition and are checking on my frequently during the day and call me when I am alone and they have gove home. My neighbours have been advised and make sure they talk to me when we meet. I am well taken care of.
Ron

I can see that! smile.gif Hopefully the tests will reveal the cause and you can be back on track soon. smile.gif

Congratulations on the new job! That is great. He shouldn't have any problems with the stamp - that is actually one of the items listed in the I-9 form for new employees. It is the NOA letter that isn't listed that is really causing problems. So, in a way, he is even better off with the stamp than with the extension letter. Good to know something is working for the best, isn't it? I go and get my stamp tomorrow - and glad that I won't have to fight with the Driver's License office to get my Driver's License renewed with the NOA as well. Now...a previous poster commented about exorbitant costs and how many other developed countries process immigrants at little or no cost. Well thats just grand! But the real question is, why isn't the U.S. citizen spouse emigrating to the foreign spouse's country? Seems like it would be easier and lot less stressful given that the developed country's is so immigration-friendly, no? The fact is that your spouses all wanted to come here to live and not the other way around. I think that says a lot about the good ol' U.S.A. Yes, things take longer, but here in the States we run a lot more security checks on any prospective immigrant (and rightly so) than any other country.

Well, this just boils my blood. What an idiot. Yes, we all came here because the US is the best country on the planet. What an arrogant and moronic thing to say.

Nice, hey? It's a wonder I have a tongue left from biting it so hard the last couple of days!
