I LOVE LOVE LOVE the original Iron Chef. The theatrics will never be duplicated! The chicken battle with Chef Joel Robuchon was classic.

There is nothing better than fresh tomatoes straight off the vine, warmed gently by the sun, sprinkled with freshly cracked salt and pepper, nestled between two slices of toasted homemade bread that have been spread with that sweet, sweet nectar of the gods -- Miracle Whip.

I think I just made myself drool.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I love that too. And you said it so poetically, Cassie. UNTIL YOU GOT TO THE MIRACLE WHIP!!!!!!!!! What are you thinking, Miracle Whip?!!!!! *shudder* It's Hellman's all the way. good.gif

laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

No worries, I have much love for the Hellman's, but I love the vinegary twang of the Miracle Whip which cuts through the acidity of the tomatoes.

Sweet goodness, I am starting to sound like a judge on Iron Chef America tongue.gif

Awwww, Cassie. I just noticed this post. I hope you were able to fight it off.

My brother has got it really bad. It's going around and Mom had to go to a doctor's appointment a few weeks ago so instant exposure to lots of sick folks. I'm lucky (relatively speaking) I only got it in the gut. Cassie wherever you are get well soon! good.gif

thanks guys. smile.gif I felt ok last night, but I ended up sleeping in this morning until almost 11 am, which never happens! I feel better today, just stuffy, so methinks it isn't the flu. I was worried because people at work have been getting super sick left right and centre and I really didn't want to be sick for a week plus!

So you are driving up then? How many hours to the border?

Yes, driving up. I enjoy the drive, plus I like my independence. My parents always tell me I am welcome to use one of their cars but I hate asking. Much better this way. But the coup de grâce is that I can bring a whole pile of items with me that I wouldn't be able to on a plane. I have Christmas prezzies which I have purchased throughout the year that I can bring, plus I will have a whole carload of food and items I can bring back! That really excites me. laughing.gif

The drive, for me, takes about 19-21 hours. I usually stay in Beckley, West Virginia, overnight, and will sometimes stop in Erie, PA to do some shopping. My husband says he can track my movements by watching the bank account. laughing.gif

So this weekend, we had a very successful yard sale, and then both of us both got sick with food poisoning! wacko.gif

Jerry gets a four day weekend off this weekend, and we don't plan to do anything, and it will be heaven! No working on the house, no dealing with anyone (unless they want to come and look at the house and buy it), nothing. It's going to be great!

Cassie: Moses is so handsome, what kinda pooch?

Honestly, we don't know, even the vet hasn't a clue. I'm convinced he's part beagle by looking at his face and tail, and he has the beagle kind of howl when the tornado sirens go off! But he's 60 pounds, so he has something big as part of his pedigree, maybe golden retriever. And he's a shorthair that sheds, and has a very regal presence. So your guess is as good as mine!

He's a great dog, he has a wonderful and quirky personality and we just adore him. smile.gif

Quick question, did they send you back your old passport and original documents as well without any problem? I am sending mine next week by mail from the US. I am just not so cool about having to send the original of our marriage certificate, but for a name change Passport Canada requires the original document to be sent along with a letter explaining why I need a passport renewal before it expires.

I just really want my marriage certificate back unsure.gif

Amen to that -- some of my biggest lessons have come while travelling oversees and experiencing other cultures. Coming from Pictou County Nova Scotia where you never had to lock your doors is a big change. Also you never heard gun shots at home like you do here in the USA.

Only time you would see a weapon was during deer season in November and that was a rifle.

I hate guns

Well I moved here May 25,2005 and didnt get back to Canada until July of 2009. My husband and I drove from Alabama to Nova Scotia Canada in 29 hours. Straight driving. Thank god Roger is a great driver. Just renewing my passport now so that maybe I can visit NS this summer or fall. Hate being away from my parents and oldest son.

CanadaChange of Circumstance

I'm not understanding the sudden urgency to get to the US. Can you not work for your Canadian employer at home in Canada? Is there some requirement you must be living in the US?

Unfortunately there isn't a faster route for you to take. All good things come to those who wait, right? :)

LOL You don't understand the sudden urgency? I'm in love with my husband and want to be with him as soon as possible =)

Yes, I have two work at home jobs now. Staying here isn't the problem. I was wondering if there were other routes where visas were quicker since I didn't require the ability to work straight away...

Many thanks to everyone who responded! Just thought I'd check!
