Not sure. My whole packet was returned for not checking a box, so your guess is as good as mine!

Did you have to pay twice? unsure.gif

Nope, they sent the whole packet (including the uncashed cheque) with a cover letter indicating why they sent it back. I checked the box and sent it all right back to them. smile.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAre there anyone who did not file right on the dot of 90 days.
QUOTE (Boiler @ Dec 9 2007, 11:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was a month or so late.

At the time I was convinced that I would be filing for and getting Citizenship before I heard anything, now they have screwed that as well.

Pictures for removal of conditions? If you want to fair enough, but why?

I interpreted the instructions on the I-751 to not limit oneself to just one kind of evidence of an ongoing bonafide relationship. I chose to send in a wide variety of evidence, including pictures spanning our relationship since we've been married. In my humble opinion, I have observed people getting RFE's when they concentrate on only one kind of evidence -- people who send in too much "touchy-feely" evidence get questioned about their lack of financial evidence showing co-mingling of assets, etc, and vice versa. I chose to include some things from all different aspects to give a more rounded picture.

Of course, with the way TSC is going, I'll have to apply for naturalization before they even look at my packet. mad.gif

QUOTE (bettenan @ Dec 9 2007, 03:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We'll be filing a week "late". I was sure I'd we ready at the dot of 90 days but a series of mishaps (including a fractured toe, which sidelined me for several days, and other crazyiness occurred. BUT it's all ready to go in tomorrow's mail (eight day "late").
We are leaving on Saturday for our first trip out of the country since hubby got his g/c and we can leave with a clear conscience...to the sunny Caribbean .

BTW: this is what we are sending

copies of:

his g/c, passport and both of our PA driver's licenses (same address)
joint...health insurance, car insurance, and homeowner insurance
HUD-1 joint home purchase and joint HOA bill, joint water bill and joint sewer bill
Joint taxes for 2006 & 2005 (attached with transcripts from IRS)
Joint Bank account from two banks (statement present and past to how accounts have been joint long standing)

We think our financial documents are strong and did not ask friends for statements.

Good luck to everyone... I keep you all posted and thanks for everyone's help.

IMHO, you're going to need some more evidence to round out your application. You're great on the financials, and light on the evidence of a bonafide relationship --maybe some pictures? etc.

To the OP: I had a slight problem when I first submitted my packet, and had it returned to me. I was glad that I had lots of time to deal with it, if I had needed to. The earlier within your 90 day window, the better, IMHO. smile.gif

Don't forget a steady dose of Don Cherry and Hockey Night in Canada!!! tongue.gif And ketchup chips!

Contrary to what someone else said, Canada and the US are different, in a lot of ways. It may not be immediately apparent, and not easily explained, but there are major differences, IMHO.

Seems to be a stickup for la tour thread, lol I stayed there and it was fine! Was clean, had a small kitchen with a fridge to keep my beer cold for the 2 nights I was there. Front desk staff were very friendly. It sort of had a gym,lol Was pretty run down, and the pool they had was small. Would i stay there again?? If it was just myself sure, but if I had my spouse with me, most likely not, would prefer something a bit more plush!! Can't beat its closeness to the consualte, and there is a Timmy's just up the street.

Aye, LaTour is not known for its plushness! wink.gif

I stayed at Hotel La Tour Centreville. Have stayed there on 15 visits to MTL to watch hockey games. Always found it to be clean, comfy and friendly staff. It's only a 2 minute walk to the Consulate from there

I'm sorry that Candy's experience was a not so good one. My room was very clean at La Tour, and especially the bathroom!!! Had a small kitchen in it with a microwave. The TV was a little smaller than I'm used to, but I still managed to see Grey's Anatomy!!! (haha)... The staff was very friendly, and I prefer a harder matress than a soft one, so my bed was fine. I also don't think I could've gotten any closer to the Consulate, a 2 min walk!! A few people I have met who also went to Montreal, they all stayed there too, they recommended it to me. Everyone said the same thing: Its not the Ritz, but its clean and it will do for a night or two and very close!!!!

I'm another one that stayed at LaTour Centreville with no complaints. I wanted to be close to the consulate and within walking distance of the shuttle from the airport without paying an arm and a leg, and this fit the bill. I appreciated the locked luggage room that I was allowed to use and the kind staff.

CanadaInterviewing at Montreal Consulate
The cafe in question is on the bottom floor of the LA Tour Centre-Ville hotel. It's right across the street from the consulate building, on the opposite corner. If I remember correctly, they hold your stuff for 5 bucks, but that was the going rate 2 years ago. If you stay at the Tour Centre-Ville, they have a locked room for keeping articles that belong to their guests -- they are completely used to assisting people going for their interview.

I thought it was 6 months per year (and not necessarily calendar). Where is zyggy and neiks when you need them??? smile.gif

too many visits/too much time per visit always raises suspicions.

Nope, doing it the old-fashioned way, with good diet/portion control and exercise! smile.gif Oh, and the occasional treat. smile.gif

My overall goal is 100 + pounds. Losing on average a pound a week, so I figure it will take me another year or so to get where I want to be. I'm just psyched about hitting 20 pounds because I am close to 1/4 of the way there and had to share it with you all.

Poor puppy.

Did you get any tornados?

nope no tornadoes, just a nice thunder and lightning storm. There was a good chance that it could have turned into one a couple of different times, but thankfully none this time!

It was funny, when we first heard the sirens, we went outside on the porch to see what direction the sound was coming from, and you could hear all the dogs in the neighbourhood just howling away!

It sounds like one of the main problems for the OP was not how many times, but length of stay. You are only supposed to be in the US no more than 6 months less a day (I do believe) in a year, hence the border guard making mention of it. Sounds like being prepared helped a lot to convince him.

A long time VJ member (Sharon) has one that she bought in Montreal. So these kind of flags do exist. They aren't "official" flags but cool nonetheless.
