I was hoping to see that happen for you as well! Congratulations!!! smile.gif

the sooner the better, it seems they move on them pretty quickly. We filed 4/30 and my wife has already had biometrics, expect interview in 60 days.

that's good to know! OKC has always been a pretty efficient office to deal with, so it's good to see they are moving right along. I've some medical bills to pay off first, and then it will be naturalization. I had better start studying!

Congrats fellow Okie! I only missed it a week which of course I attribute to the influx of all I-751 applications coming in from the other service centers. Now N-400 or not?

hehe you were pretty close, I will give you that! good.gif

Yeah, I will be applying for citizenship, probably by the end of the summer or sooner. We want to move to Canada in the next 5-10 years so I want dual. I'll get my card in hand first and then start saving up for N-400 fees!

Imailin, it's coming, I can feel it..... all across the board, various petitions (K-1s, K-3s, etc) are starting to hear approvals so methinks VSC is getting out of their slowdown. Wouldn't it be great if our whole dang loser list is done by the end of June????

We sent I-751 to TSC in early March of 2007 as the two year anniversary was May 26, 2007. Did biometrics on April 24, 2007, got letter in February 2008 saying it was transferred to VSC and nothing since then. As the one year extension was getting close to running out, made INFOPASS appointment on May 16, 2007 and got passport stamped for six month extension. Officer said to come back in November if we didn't receive GC by then for another six month extension. Is a six month extension customary when you get passport stamped?

There's a post on here somewhere with a link to a memo stating that a one year stamp should be given. However, many officers just give a six month stamp no matter how much you beg and plead. So yeah, a 6 month stamp is not out of the ordinary.

They were mostly done in April after about a year (some exceptions). Here we are, almost 2 months down the road and now we are beyond the one year mark...

For what we saw today they are approving already May NOAS and yours it s as close as mine to get approve so...... keep thinking positive... and besides what the hell she says that the transfer does not mean a speeding on the process???? the letter I got after the transfer to Vermont states that the transfer is for speeding purposes!!! so what is she talking about>???? are they also lying to us????....

.... OF COURSE THEY DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif

OH yeah, I figure I will get home and the approval will be sitting right there ..... Murphy's Law!

I wouldn't be surprised. If we had just made the InfoPass appointment for a couple of (business) days later, we would have gotten the news beforehand. Anyway, I hope they are able to tell you something from the computer.

Nope, nada. My case is still officially pending. Oh, and she gave me the cheerful fact that it may take 6 more months. Probably the rote response, but hardly hopeful or helpful for my mood. Oh, and the other classic line was that "we transfer stuff all the time between the centres, and it doesn't mean it will speed up processing" Fantastic!

I was only able to get a 6 months stamp. 4 hours driving for a 7 minute visit (I literally walked in, got to an officer, got stamped, walked out).

Ugh. You probably should have brought the CIS policy memo that specifies 12 month stamps. I told Claudia just to whip it out at the start and tell the officer that's what she was there for, the 12 month stamp mentioned in the memo. But I'd bet that in any event you will be approved in the next week or two. The officers won't know anything if it's not in the computer -- we just lucked out. Sort of.

Yeah, I forgot about taking the paper, but I specifically asked for a 12 month stamp and it was a definite no go. I had to give up and stop talking to her because she definitely toed the party line and it was like talking to a brick wall. She got the jist that I was tired of waiting for an approval and made some comment about not worrying because my status is still ok. I replied "I know that and you know that, but people in the real world like employers don't get it, they don't understand the paperwork". When she replied "oh no, that's not true", I almost unloaded a can of "you're full of ####### shall I show you VJ and proof otherwise" whoopa$$, but I refrained and left before getting into trouble! devil.gif

I am just getting so very tired of this. The NSC Losers list is almost all approved with the exception of a handful of people if I remember correctly, and here we sit.

My extension letter is expiring the beginning of June. I made an INFOPASS appointment last week for May 19th. I am not sure if there is a particular window of time prescribed to go for a stamp or not.

Good luck with the appointment and keep us updated! Do you mean one year after your green card expiration is June or the letter expiration?

From the extension letter itself:

"Your conditional residence status is extended for a period of one year from date of expiration on your Form I-551, conditional resident card."

My permanent resident card expired June 6, 2007.
One year from that is June 6, 2008.

Therefore, my extension letter expires June 6, 2008, hence me getting a stamp next Monday. smile.gif

Hello!

Followed up with USCIS again today and they will be sending me a letter requesting additional documentation.

I called the hotline again today and at first she told me nothing had been sent to me, but when I asked why the officer at my recent INFOPASS appointment had mentioned that something had/would be sent out she put me on hold for 15-20 minutes and then said that I should receive a letter in the next 2-3 weeks.

It sounded very much to me that the officer reviewing my case had requested that a letter be sent to me, but that for some reason it was pending in the system and hadn't actually been sent out. Nobody pressed "print" I guess. =O)

My case shows a new touched date for today, 05/12/2008 in case someone wants to update the list. Guess I'll wait and see what they need from me.

Cheers!

P.S. Anyone with upcoming INFOPASS appointments should perhaps really question the officer about whether there is anything outstanding with the case just to make sure there aren't any hiccups holding things up like with mine.

Well, it's too bad you got an RFE but at least now you know that this is what the hold-up has been. It's actually not a little scary. If you hadn't pushed them (or if the officer at the InfoPass appointment hadn't mentioned the letter) you would conceivably just have been left waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting.

My wife has an InfoPass coming up, I'll make sure she quizzes the officer. Although the second level customer service IO I spoke with last week didn't say anything about an RFE.

I'll be doing the same next Monday.

They've only approved one of us in over two weeks' time . . . they've definitely slowed down for whatever reasons. It's not like they've been approving direct I-751 filers, either. So you have to wonder . . . .

OK, I broke down and called. I escalated the call to a second level IO after listening to the scripted spiel of the first level person. The best he could do was say we should get a decision in 30-35 days. (Great! My wife is taking the kids to visit her parents in 29 days, and won't be back until 2 days after her extension expires.) When I asked why people with NOA1 dates after ours were approved more than a month ago, the best he could offer in response was to repeat the March 1, 2007 VSC processing date.

The bottom line for us is that we're going to have to get an I-551 stamp because my wife is leaving to visit her parents in a month, plus a special stamp from the consulate because names aren't changed on Colombian passports when a woman gets married (if needs be, they affix a stamp indicating there is also a married name), and the plane tickets are in her married/green card name.

*sigh*

I broke down and made my INFOPASS appointment for the 19th to get the stamp. I was hoping we wouldn't have to worry about it, James.
