K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 2009 K1 Filer
Well... I lied. I just checked the website after complaining about no touches. Finally got one. FRICK!!!
After all this, the call to the senator, the emails to the lawyer, and the complaining on VJ, the date FINALLY CHANGED! lol.
I dont even care what it was, I SEE something now.

Funny though, they told my senator that they started on July 31st and the touch came on Wed Aug 5th. The next day, the 6th was when my Senator called back.
Funny thing huh?

I feel you Kimbear. Its a gut wrenching process, but hang in there.
So, you have seen touches on the website? I haven't seen anything. No touches nothing.
We did get pretty detailed info. We even got a follow up email from USCIS documenting the phone call and the contents.

I hope it ends soon. If you get approved soon, hopefully now you can have a marriage in Jan 10'
Hang in there.
I hate all of this, but she (for me) he (for you lol) is worth it!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch 2009 K1 Filer
I just got off the phone with my Senator. Bad, horrible, heart wrenching news.
The process is supposed to take 5 to 7 months depending on volume, time, and order in which they were received, and country
of origin. Our case was put to the side. No one even looked at it until they called. The man the Senator spoke with said that once a case is assigned
a case worker, then the 5 month processing time goes into effect. Our case was assigned to someone on July 31st. Almost 5 months to the day we submitted we were finally
given a response that said, "sorry, 5 months starts now."

He told the Senator that they will begin the FBI background check, which will take a month, and then request an RFE on top of that.
I told the Senator how everyone else is faring with getting approvals already and he said sorry and that there is nothing more they can do but push.
The Senator was extremely kind and said he would do everything he could to help and keep following the case, but USCIS doesn't give a sh!t.

F... this process.

Im considering canning the whole thing and leaving.
Its bullshit that people can come illegally tomorrow, but try to do the right thing, and wait a year.

Awesome America.
Awesome.

Well, so far nothing at NVC. I called them yesterday, and they haven't received our case yet.
Still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for not too much AP when our file does arrive.

Any news from fellow March 2009 filers?

i just called vermont service and they say that there are working on dicember 30 2008 files ... what is that ??
how can that be if there are some march people that got there approve paper ... this is driving me craizy ....

Boy I hear that! They say they process the files in the order they were received. Thats a load of BS. Look above your post. That guy didn't send the I-129 until the END of march and is already approved.
I sent mine in February, got there in March, and I haven't heard a damn thing. Keep your fingers crossed. Im ready to go APe sh!t. lol

Thanks for the encouragement. I've started to reach out to a friend who's politically active, to see if I can get a direct point of contact in my Senator's office.
After calling the mis-information line, I will most certainly not be bothering with the "official" method of requesting an inquiry once my file reaches the 5-month point (and then waiting up to 60 days for a response to that). It's clear they have no interest in providing more information without the most firm push possible, and that would be from a Senator's office. I actually heard the person in the background prompting my "jerk in training" (resisting the urge to use a more severe term) to tell me that his supervisor was "not available at the moment"...and then this "jerkling" had the gall to suggest that I try calling back to see if another "Customer Service Agent" could give me more information, knowing full well that the next person would simply read to me from the same script. It's like they take joy in wasting our time. This is where our taxpayer dollars go....to have people on a power trip wield that power over us??? Yes, they work for us, but that seems to make no difference.

(Deep breath)

As I said, the only thing that makes this bearable at the moment is having Ingrith with me to keep my eyes on the prize. smile.gif While she is losing faith daily, having dealt with immigration every time she crosses the border, just seeing her after work restored my optimism that this could still come through in time for an October wedding. My file will reach the 5-month point next Thursday, so I will do my best to have someone at my Senator's office make contact on or shortly after that date.

Sincere congratulations to all who have moved on from the USCIS phase of this stage of the journey. Please continue to pray, send positive vibes, light a candle, or whatever you can do to help the rest of us.

My senator's assistant just called my father yesterday asking where my request was to push the USCIS along. If you have a congressman willing to help you with your application I would highly recommend doing it. Vindictive backlash is completely unreasonable. Remember, they work for us. In my opinion, it would get someone to locate the application at least and maybe even push it through a little. The only reason I didnt do it sooner was because of the 5 month mark, but remember, that mark is to have the petition completed by then.

No harm trying to find out, through a gov't offical, if its close or not.
Hang in there. Your're close.

To clarify.....I did contact my Senator and they were more than happy to check for me.

Good luck. Its so hard to stay positive through this whole process. My thoughts were, after reading all the miserable tales of calling USCIS, to just have the Senator's office work on it directly without me calling and bugging them. But, for those of you in states with large populations, i feel for you. I am from Wyoming and have direct contact with a senator. Hang in there, keep bugging them and remember to always ask for the highest supervisor!

Well, that's about the worst news I've heard so far. I'm resisting as long as possible to go the "congressman contact" route, just in case there's some kind of vindictive backlash, but nearing the 5-month mark, it's getting harder and harder just to sit and do nothing. Called the NVC a few days ago just to make sure they didn't have our case, but alas, it's still un-touched and un-moved since the 8th of March. sad.gif

It's easier having Ingrith here with me, but that situation will change again in 2 weeks. It's ridiculous that they're just making us wait with no possibility for an inquiry. Come on, folks...it's not like we're waiting for a rebate check or something....this is the rest of our lives on hold! headbonk.gif

i'm not sure why i get myself so worked up when i check uscis. after seeing a bunch of couples get their noa2's recently, i start to think today's our day, only to have the disappointment of "Current Status: Case received and pending."

best wishes to all of us still waiting for our noa2 - our day in the sun will come!!!

Wow, I feel you on that one. I check almost everyday hoping to see something. Then I see people post that they are 9 or 10 on IGOR's. That especially gets me because I see that I submitted before them and I am still like 75 on IGOR's. Its heart breaking. I thought it was first come first serve? Obviously not though. America's allied countries get priority, unless they are Muslim of course.

Lol my fiance has told me i'm not allowed to go to vj or uscis anymore cuz i get so upset. And he can't for the life of me get a real person at USCIS.

as for igors list..i stopped checkign it awhile ago. And it has nothing to do with allied countries getting their noa2 first..i'm from canada and it's now been over 130 days and i've heard nothing, nada, zip, ziltch. They have 2 more weeks and then my fiance is calling his congressman to get an answer , since that will be just about the 5 month mark almost.

I see the Igor's list now. I was so disappointed when I was like 80. But I still find myself checking it. And maybe this was because the administration was changed, but I was told by the INS, DHS, AND my congressman that the country does matter. They prioritize based on relationships. Perhaps that has changed now, I hope, cause I see your point. 130 days is one of the posted averages. And, I first started inquiring before we filed which was well over a year ago. Living in a state with a small population you get the chance to meet a lot of people at the local office.

If it makes you guys feel any better, we didnt send in tons for pictures either, I think only a total of 5, the boarding passes and such are the most important part to prove you have seen each other in the last 2 years. Thats all USCIS is looking for right now, the bonafied relationship comes in at the consulate, but front loading your petition means when the consulate reviews it they will see relationship stuff. I doubt it matters for the pictures if you made a cake or rode on a rollercoaster, its just a picture of the two of you together showing you have indeed seen each other (at least for one picture laughing.gif)

Please don't feel bad you guys. Especially if you see other people saying that USCIS saw how much they loved each other blah blah. I'm fairly positive on my end I just got put into a lucky box to get it when I did, and I provided enough proof to show we have indeed seen each other in the last 2 years, which is all the requirements ask for. You are not a fail girlfriend. You are wonderful and it will come!

Okay so I sent in like 1 pic if that, the only evidence I sent in was my sons birthcertificate and the paternity affidavit that Simon is the father and a couple of boarding passes and a letter of intent from both of us...thats it!!

Yeah, that's about what we sent as well. The lawyer told us two pics, no more, a letter of intent and proof of meeting within the last 2 years.
I think what everyone needs to remember here is the USCIS is only looking to see if we meet the minimum requirements. They are not the ones who judge
the validity of our relationships. The proof of a valid relationship is the purpose of the personal interview. It seems to me that the USCIS only looks to see if all the requirements are met.
Nothing more. US citizens have the right to marry who they please. This service is to make sure that the requirements are met, and the fiancee is not a trouble for national security. If you have checked all these requirements and met them. You will be fine, regardless of HOW MUCH you put in your petition. This is just my understanding, not the answer.

Just wanted to give my 2 cents.
From what is sounds like, everyone here meets those requirements. BUT, the main draw back is that it's the government, and yes.....
as we all know, they are slow.

Hang in there everyone!!!

People have successfully registered their marriages in Morocco, but a civil ceremony without two muslim witnesses will not suffice. Also, I have heard they have become more "strict" about the requirements in order to register the marriage through the consulate, the marriage must be witnessed by two muslims registered at the consulate.

That post was INCREDIBLY informative, thank you for posting it!

Oh, PS. I see that she is planning to come to the US to marry you, but you have already started the K1. Be very careful. If she comes on a tourist visa, and marries you while here, and you still have a K1 outstanding, that could very well cause problems for you in the immigration process later.

Yeah we know. We both decided that she would not attempt coming on a tourist visa. We want to do everything by the book, and we are going to wait for the K1 to complete before she attempts to come.
Also that is why I was posting here, to see if anyone has had a marriage performed by an adoul in the US and it carried over to be legally recognized in Morocco. None yet however.

Yes, we have been dealing with this for months. sad.gif The rules have recently changed and are still unclear to me. If you have a civil marriage here in the US, in order for it to be recognized in Morocco, you must also be married either in a mosque or with two Muslim witnesses. You send your civil US marriage certificate, along with whatever you get from the mosque to the consulate to be notarized. i can't remember, but either you or the consulate then forwards (or you can bring them if you are traveling) these documents to Morocco for the marriage to be recognized over there as well. The consulate no longer recognizes marriages. The documents have to be sent to Morocco to be processed. i'm a little sketchy as to how it all works, but this is the information i was last given when i asked the consulate in the spring. If anyone has any new info, please share....

If i had to do it all over again, i probably would have gotten my marriage license from the state of NY, then gotten married in a mosque here, and then had the officiate send the marriage license to city hall to get the US marriage certificate, and then send all of the above to the consulate for notarization.

Because we didn't do this, we are going to try and do what you suggested and carry all our documents over to Morocco when we travel and try our luck there... but i have no idea if it will work...

Good luck!

Yeah, I think we are just going to do a civil here when she gets here to satisfy the visa requirements and then go to Morocco next summer to satisfy the Moroccan requirements.
Ugh....so complicated, lol. Thanks!

So what about marriages in the US? Does Morocco recognize US marriages?
I ask because we started the K1. Now she will come from Morocco and we will have a civil ceremony in the courthouse,
but she has told me that this is not recognized by Morocco. Is this true?

That is going to be a little tougher as there are more conditions for marriage. You can check out the conditions on the embassy website but the main one that might cause difficulties is that you are Muslim (don't know if you already are)

I don't think it is valid like they do here in the US. I think you will have to document it in Morocco and I'm sure the conditions are the same as if you were married there.

That is what we suspected. Because of our lack of understanding on the k1 and K3 we decided to go with the K1.
We will do a civil ceremony in the US and most likely go back to Morocco then and have a religious ceremony to be recognized in Morocco. And yes, I am.

Middle East and North AfricaNew updated numbers for Morocco's consulate
Im really sorry to hear about your interview. But to offer another perspective after reading your story here is what I find.
Please do not get offended, as I am only playing devil's advocate, and am only trying to help. I could be COMPLETELY OFF BASE, but here it goes.

If I am interviewing a person and they hesitate during a question, I am immediately suspicious. It does not matter why because the question is being avoided.
The consular officer sounds as though they were intentionally vague about the word romantic. In my opinion it doesn't mean a damn thing. All he had to do was answer. You state that he was asked the question multiple times throughout the interview. Correct me if I am wrong, but he failed to give a concrete answer. To me, that is suspicious. When you love someone, you don't have to think about it. I believe this is what they are looking for. Not whether or not you've had sex, not when he started making kissy faces, not when the love notes happened.....sincerity.

In any other situation that is not wrapped around the fear, anger, and frustration of a visa interview a person could answer this question because the answer does not matter. It is a chance to reflect. And if I don't see that reflection, or sincerity, I don't approve a visa. Period.

All of this is earth shattering, and I am really sorry to hear about your case. I wish you the best of luck in the future and don't worry, although your case may be sent back, I have faith it will return only to be approved.

Doesn't hurt just to call and ask.

Good luck to you with everything!

Middle East and North AfricaCasa medical exam results: History Incomplete

my fiance went to his medical exam, and on the form they gave to him it stated that his history was incomplete. he got 3 vaccinations and some of them were not age appropriate. it also stated that he may be eligible for a "blanket waver" because of the ones he didn't get being not age appropriate. I'm worried this may effect his interview. He didn't have any history of vaccinations. do they give him all the ones mandatory for him to meet requirements of the interview??

He will be fine don't worry about that, that is the way my husbands medical exam read and it all went well.

Which of the doctor's did you both go to?

ok you having a baby together living with him that long is more than a proof i been there so i know they will give it to him trust me you dont need to be nervous

Ok, for starters, having a baby with someone is not proof of a valid relationship. I am not trying to be mean here I am just trying to help.
Second, living with someone for 6 months is not proof either. If I was the interviewer I would be questioning these things.

1. You met online. (NOT A BAD THING....I am just saying the time line is weird)
2. The time line.
-----You met online talked for 5 months then went and he proposed. Am I understanding that write?
3. He is a man. A man from Morocco. He will have to overcome immense obstacles at the interview. My fiancee interviewed last Tuesday and they were very very harsh on the men.
All the women got the visa's that day and I'm not so sure how many of the men did.
4. You have visited twice. (This looks very good.)

Because of the amount of fraud that comes out of Morocco, they are very hard on men.
You will just have to be prepared for the tone of the interview. You could have someone really nice. So finger's crossed.
However, how is his English? Is it good? Bad? So-so? The evidence we had in our success was pictures with each other's families.
This was incredibly important. Also, we compiled HUNDREDS, of emails, skype logs, msn logs, and receipts from the phone calls.
The more the better.

Maybe even contact your congress person to check on the status of the interview. If its soon, start now.
They take time. Remember, Casa is just one of those consulates you need to prepare for. So good luck.

I wish you the best!

Middle East and North AfricaEarthquake in Morocco..
My fiancee told me about it. She felt it around 1 40am her time. They all ran outside and she said it sounded like Godzilla was coming.
After the first tremor, she went inside and it happened again. Crazy. Hope everyone is ok. Her sister in Seville Spain also felt this one.

Middle East and North AfricaAnyone going to Casablanca/Rabat Sale in the next few months that has time to hang out?

Last time I went, my fiance's father came in and tried to give me the keys to his car to go drive around and see the sights (not that Casa has many "sights"), and it was interesting to see my fiance try to explain to him what "I will grind your gears and destroy your transmission" means.. :innocent:

 oh thats hilarious!

If it was an automatic, I'd really be interested.. but I never learned to drive a stick shift :P

lol, completely understandable. I remember when my parents bought me my first car (a real piece of work, but a car nonetheless) it was a STICK!!
I was like, NOOOOOOOOOOO. I don't know how to do it. Sure enough though, after jerking around forever I got it. If it meant getting rid of her car my
little lady would teach you! lol.

Thanks anyway.
Enjoy Casa!

PS..Be sure to go eat at the port!
AH..MA...Zingggggggggggg.

i called them so many times today , but their phone is always busy !!! is that normal ? or ?

I called them today and they told me that Casablanca has requested all files to stay at NVC for now until they are not so busy. I asked the woman if that was normal and how long do they usually request for them to stay there and she said "I don't know...a month or two"......I am thinking she doesn't know....that is the first thing she said. We really don't know how long....but is a little frustrating.

AARGHHHH SERIOUSLY!!!

I swear the consulate in Casablanca blows big time. I hear the most horror stories from there than anywhere, and it just seems like you have a 5% chance of passing your interview there. Now this? They want to stop the petitions coming in??? ####### CASA!!
