K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWomen, does your spouse help you with finances for the visa process or are you doing it alone?
We just started the process, my honey is the US resident, he paid the initial $455 dollars, and any other money that will need to be paid on his end, but I will pay for my medical, fee at the consulate in Montreal and the expenses in geting to the consulate, airfare, hotel, cabs etc. To me its a 50/50 thing. He's paid for his trips to visit me, and I've paid for all my visits there. When we were at each others homes, we split expenses, groceries, gas, meals out. You sound like you are debating whether you want to be with this man and are looking for someone else to agree. Only you can know that. You should be honest and upfront with him, tell him what your thinking, and your concerns about money. I am concerned that he's telling you he'll send money and it never shows up. To me its a clear indication of what is to come for you. Take a deep breath and step back and really look at what your getting yourself into. I know my honey just bought a new house for us and with the expenses of a new home, I feel like I should be helping him. On the other hand, I too have a household to keep running till we can be together. But I am setting a little aside, now and again to help him. I wish you all the best and be sure to follow your head along with your heart. Take care.

It makes sense Fiance for male, fiance (e) for female kicking.gif

Now, I'll wait for the other question, hopefully someone tell me if for their K-3 notice of action, it said petion for fiance or petion for spouse.

Hey no problem, hopefully you won't have to wait long....you wouldn't want that to come back and bite you in the butt down the road!! whistling.gif

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFor K-3 is case type still called PETITION FOR FIANCE (E)
QUOTE (Qais @ Oct 7 2008, 11:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone,

I'm new on this website, a friend told me about it. I have recently sent my 1-130 Petition for Alien Relative it was received on September 23, 2008 and I got first Notice of Action on September 26, 2008, with it's receipt number.

I then made a copy of this notice and put it with my I-129F packet (indicating I'm going for the K-3, spousal visa), it was received on October 1, 2008 and I got my first Notice of Action on October 2, 2008.

My question is on the case type for this second notice, it says I129-F, PETIONER FOR FIANCE (E). Is this a mistake, should it rather say Petioner for Spouse?? I'm wondering because it says if there is any mistake I should call this number they provided. However, I'm not sure if this is a mistake, or am I just being overly paranoid?

Also what does the (E) after FIANCE mean?

Any information would help. Thanks

Sorry, I hit the reply button to quite, hopefully someone else can help you with the other question, I would think if you have to say spouse...everyone here is quite helpful so it shouldn't take long..good luck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCan I stay in US? Urgent help please!
Everyone on here doesn't like being separated from their loved ones, but why would you want to jeprodize your chances of a obtaining a Visa by overstaying on a tourist one. I can't imagine it winning you any points. I cry every day that I'm not with my honey, but by doing it the "legal" way is the best thing for us in the long run. If it were me, I wouldn't risk it. Maybe someone else on here can give you some more advice. Take care and good luck.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs this even legal?
My two cents worth....we are trying to get our ducks in a row so to speak and contacted his bank in Wisconsin. They said that even after I obtain my visa and move to Wisconsin, I would require a SSN in order to open a bank account or to be added to his. I think it depends on the bank and their policies. Good luck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEntering US then getting married without visa
It does depend on which office your going through, 6+ months would be more accurate. We just got our NOA 2 at almost 4 months. We realize and are very thankful for our NOA2 coming so soon. Many who applied before us are still waiting. Now we still have to wait for our packets 3 then 4 then the interview in Montreal. We are thinking about 7 month point I hopefully will have my visa in order to cross into the US. You are better off to go the legal way and not try to "get around" the issues. Its not worth risking being banned from the US. Good luck which ever route you decide to go.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-130 Help
QUOTE (jodieb7064 @ Mar 25 2009, 08:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am just wondering what other people did to get their photos on their application. I am not exactly sure how to take the photo so that it measures their exact requirements. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Upload a photo, it will take a minute or so, and it will tell you if its acceptable or not. Mine wasn't because of the resolution, but I continued without one. Then it will prompt you when your finished to print off a confirmation page to bring with you to the consulate.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-130 Help
Or DS-160, I had to do that one online. And you can continue it online and send it without having to upload a picture. I emailed the consulate and they told me to just bring the confirmation that you print off when your done sending it along with a picture. Not sure of the DS-130, possibly DS-230, but is that form done on line? Maybe someone else could jump in here and help.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK1 and the waiting period
Have a look at some peoples timelines. We started out September of last year and got our Visa in April, so for us about 7 months. There are alot of factors though that can change it. Some people are approved quicker, although I think rare to be less then, some are longer. RFE's can delay the process so make sure you double check everything before sending it in. The country that the beneficiary is from I know plays a part. And of course the number of applications that they do have factors in. This website is wonderful, you'll find all the information you will need, plus others that have gone through the process to answer any questions you may have. Take some time to read through the various threads and guides. Good luck.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone waiting as long as me?
I emailed Montreal a couple times during the waiting process, I always got the automated response but then someone actually emailed me. It certainly won't hurt to email again. I was getting worried about my interview after three months had gone by and then I got the interview. If I remember correctly I only had about three weeks notice before the appointment. Good luck and hopefully you'll hear something soon.

I had to read this three times, You had the envelope since March but didn't open it till September.....are you sure you want to marry this person? Your paperwork was processed rather quickly when you see other timelines. We just had our paperwork sent out September 2, and have the rest of the paperwork pretty well ready to go as we can't wait to start our life together. I would think you would have to contact the consulate who is handling the interview and maybe they can do something for you. Hopefully you get someone with a sympathetic eye. However, I think you might have missed the window of opportunity. Had you opened it when you got it, and realized that you needed more time you could have probably made arrangements to do so, but you can't change that now. Sorry, its not my intention to sound mean. I wish you and your honey all the luck.
Take care.
