US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-130 etc I'm totally confused I need help please!
I would go the K-1 route. Read the guides at the top of the page they are very helpful. It is possible that he could be able to be with you in May in you file now, but no guarantees. Hopefully someone else will come along who has experience with dealing with Egypt. Good luck with your journey.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 Info
Hi there, I'm from Canada as well.....your honey would go to Montreal. Only Montreal and Vancover do the K-1.
We are awaiting our NOA2 as well. We don't plan on starting to gather everything we need for packet 3 till we reached the four month mark. Good luck with your journey. If you want to start....click on the guides at the top of the page and it will give you all the information you need.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCancelling interview and getting new date
Yes, I would go to the interview and explain to them what happened. Especially since you are past your four month point. Don't rely on them getting your luggage. We just got my honey's bag, he flew united, was suppose to be here on Dec 23 didn't get here till Dec 24th, luggage didn't show till Dec 31. They kept telling us 24hrs, 24 hrs. Good luck.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 Part 1
Hey guys,
I am filling in the DS-230 Part 1 form so I can mail packet 3 to the embassy and I have a question. Item # 2 for other names I have put in my maiden name which is correct, I've ticked off the divorced box, but # 14, name of spouce, do I put my exhusband's info in there. When I filled in the DS-160 form online it tells you on that form that if you are divorced to fill in previous spouse information in the spouse information block. So then I got to wondering, do I do the same for this one? Help guys!!! My eyes are going cross-eyed looking at all the paperwork. crying.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWOW-Same day response!
WOW I am so amazed! I emailed the Montreal Consulate at 12:36pm yesterday, and got the normal auto response within a few minutes then, at 2:57pm I got an actual email back with them answering the two questions that I sent previously!! How exciting...things are looking up guys! Just had to share it with everyone. innocent.gif Who knew something like this could make me so happy. I got to looking at some people's timelines on here how many are acutually waiting for packet 4 from Montreal....and when did you send in your packet 3? The few people that I could trace on here showed that there wasn't much time between the packet 4 coming and the interview date. eems like a long stretch between the two packets. I noticed had two weeks notice.....I am hoping for a month or so. Its an expensive venture as I have to have my medical done there, wait around in Montreal for three or four more days before the interview and then get back home.

I used my passport stamps as well to track them. I thought it best that it was accurate as possible. No need to give them a reason for an RFE if you don't have to. GOOD LUCK!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionApplying for an interview
We sent our packet three back with our checklist. We are still continuing to gather all the necessary documents for Montreal. I plan on just scheduling my medical a week before whatever date I get for my interview and just spend the week in Montreal. I've been tracking a few people on here and right now it seems like packet 4 is taking about two months from packet 3 being send back, and then the interviews seem to be about a month after. But that can change as we all know! Good Luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAP at the Consulate
Well I thought I would call and check to see if my interview has been scheduled and was told by the guy that "it has been pulled for administrative processing!" WHAT...we were getting so close. I know there isn't anything I can do but wait. I just needed to vent. After I hung up I thought well maybe I'll email and see what I get for a response. I was surprised yet again that they email me back within and 1 /12 with the following,

The interview has not yet been scheduled, we will mail you a letter within the next 4-12 weeks, this is due to the high volume of cases pending scheduling.

Regards,

Operator 5

Nothing about being pulled. I think I will try and call again on Monday and see what they say. Things have been moving good so I guess we should be thankful compared to others on this website. So I am assuming with how long this will probably take, (possibly longer then the four months that the petition is valid for), that the consulate automatically extends it or do I still have to apply to have it extended...does anyone know? We might still get it all done under the four months, just want to cover our basis. Thanks guys!

So I completed the DS-160 on-line, and I managed to print out the application, but when I went to print the confirmation receipt, it said session timed out and I lost it after that.

I had not saved it or emailed it to myself.

Now what? I was worried to redo as it will generate a new conf#.... but can I send off my packet 3 with ds230 and checklist without the confirmation receipt of the DS160? I will include the DS160 copy of app, but not receipt. Is this ok?

It should email it to you as well. I printed mine off and then I noticed in my email that a complete copy was there as well. Did you check that box when it asked you?

Well I call daily every couple of days to check on our interview and I have to share this with you. There is one guy that I have gotten to speak with on 3 separate occasions, including today, who, when I ask if an interview has been schedule, his response has been your file is in administrative processing. The other times I called its been women who I speak with and when I called last week I asked her about the AP and she said "no, everything is fine and in order, your basically just waiting for them to schedule the interview". Then today, I get that same damn guy today with the AP story. wacko.gif ARRRGGHH!!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionreceived the packet from the consulate. questions!
QUOTE (bogartnoir @ Apr 1 2009, 02:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
so my fiancee received the packet from the consulate in montreal and i have a few questions. i've read the timeline and the guides, but i'm still very confused about a few things, so if you would indulge me this once...

step 1: send the DS-230 (biographic data) and the DS-160 (which was not included in the packet) to the consulate FIRST. fill it out and send it back asap.

The DS-160 is completed online and they should have send you the info for that.

step 2: gather passport, 5 passport photos, a medical report, and birth certificate.
my question here is- do they want COPIES of this stuff? surely they couldn't take your original passport?

From my understanding they take a copy but you must have the original available for inspection if requested.

step 3: once they have received the DS-230 pt 1 they will send him an appt date and time.
it says here in the paperwork "Processing time for the K-1 visa at this office is estimated at four to six months from the receipt of this checklist to interview date. (!!!) has anyone had a shorter experience? i was under the impression that the longest we had to wait was for our NOA2 ! sad.gif

We sent packet 3 in end of January and just got our interview date, still have received packet 4 yet though.

more questions:

do they really mean it when they ask for a list of dates of ALL previous visits to the united states??! ALL PREVIOUS DATES? my fiancee has been visiting back and forth for the past 10 years! i couldn't even begin to remember all of the times and dates! what should we do here?

I only put the dates since the whole passport necessary thing came into play as I had the dates stamped in there.

included in the packet was DS-156K, Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application. who fills this out? the wording is confusing to me. it also says to use it with form DS-156 (which was not included in the packet).

Benificary

lastly, when we go to the interview should we bring the originals of everything we sent photocopied previously?

I am

i know that's a lot of questions, but this is a bit of money we have to spend to pay the fee and get to montreal, so i want to make certain everything is just right.

thanks in advance, you guys!

I don't think that's right...but I am far from an expert! If they get married, and she returns back to Canada to wait for the paperwork to complete (and hopefully be approved), how is that fraud? Its my understanding if she went there with the intent to get married and stay then yes. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUS Embassy in Toronto?
QUOTE (bluesky1713 @ Oct 14 2009, 10:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I searched online and found that there is a US Embassy in Toronto, ON but do their services include CR-1 interviews or will I have to travel to Montreal, QC for that? I looked at the Embassy Info link on VJ but noticed only Montreal and Vancouver are listed. Either these are the only two I can go to for my interview or the other US Embassies in Canada are just not listed here.

Also, am I directed to a specific/approved doctor for my exam or can I visit my family doctor?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

I believe Montreal is the only one that can do CR-1's, Montreal and Vancouver both do K-1's. You cannot go to your family doctor for your medical. The Embassy Info above gives you the addresses of the four places you can go for medicals. (I think its still four!) I did mine in Montreal a week before my interview and stayed through the week in Montreal so I could go pick up my results the day before my interview. They were really good at Medisys to make sure I had everything I needed in time. Take care, and good luck.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionExtending Period Petition is Valid For
I was worried when we got our NOA2 for our K1 and the time it was taking to hear about our interview. I emailed Montreal and they replied telling me that they did have out petition and our packet would be mailed shortly. I asked, if I don't get my interview within the four month window will I have to apply to have it extended, they said no, its automatic if they are the cause of the delay. If you delay in sending back what they ask for, then yes, its your responsibility, but if they have your file and its their delay, extension is automatic. BUT, I would email to verify it. One person tells you one thing.....you know that story. LOL

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew medicals?
I had a medical done before I came into the country, and sent in the DS-3025 with my AOS and got RFE'd for the complete I-693. I sent in the vacc portion of the I-693 after talking with a 1-800 operator and also an immigration officer. But called again to find out they have no record of a I-693 at all for me...so now I have to have it done again or wait and see as the Immigration officer suggested to see what happens. We don't want to wait any longer. Reality, you only need your medical if its a less then a year old which they should already have, and just have your I-693 transcribed. I happen to be one of the many "lost or missing" medical. Good luck.

CanadaQuestion on Medical for those using Montreal Consulate
I know I am a long way from having the medical done, but after reading different websites I just had a question. I noticed some places actually do not want the medical done till after you get your interview date, some can be done within the last year, and some are required to be done closer to the interview date, some have to be done by their recommended Dr's. Does anyone have any knowledge if Montreal has a standard rule for their medical?
I just figured I could get some things out of the way a couple months before. Thanks for the continued help guys! star_smile.gif

CanadaEAD stamp-Crossing into US from New Brunswick
QUOTE (Emancipation @ Sep 15 2008, 09:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was also going to mention that hubby & I mostly cross at Houlton now. It's faster and less car traffic than Calais. We went through Calais mostly because they know hubby at Houlton now from his many trips to see me, and he wanted a fresh set of eyes to look at our paperwork in Calais (that coupled with Houlton being mostly a truck crossing and hubby was worried they wouldn't really know what to do with a K-1). But I have never had troubles with the Houlton crossing - even was in secondary (on both sides before), always treated right and the guards were always helpful.

So i can't speak to activation of K-1 at Houlton (or speak of the EAD stamp there), but it's also a good crossing.

THANKS! kicking.gif
