IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGot NOA1 - now what?
QUOTE (ao_cons @ Oct 16 2008, 02:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We already got our first notice. They've cashed the check too. I know there are more forms to be filled out and more documents required. Do we just wait at this point or start gathering the documents? I'd like to make sure because I dont' want to get those docs (e.g. police clearance, etc.) too early as they may require more recent dates.

Please advise us on what to do next. Thanks.

Hi there, Have you read through the guides at the top of the page? I found them rather useful. We are awaiting our NOA2, which seems to be taking about 4 months or so right now for a K-1 visa, so we are waiting a couple months before we start gathering the rest of the paperwork. We want to be already for the approval that we hope is coming. You can start to fill in your timeline on your profile though. Someone else whose completely a similar journey as yours will probably come along and give you some advice. GOOD LUCK!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPresident Obama says he will fix our problem! Come and help please.
QUOTE (Soloenta @ Nov 20 2008, 01:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello everyone,

I came across President-elect Obama's page and I was thrilled to see how he thinks. I hope and pray he doesn't go back on his word and if we all send letters to him asking to follow through with what he has said, well, God willing he will help us all out. We need as many people as possible to write him so he can see there are a lot of us needing his help. If we can get everyone we know to do the same, he will be advised of this and take action. One letter will do nothing to help our loved ones be with us. But if we all come together then we can move mountains.

Site found at, http://www.barackoba...es/immigration/

This is the information on how to contact President-elect Barack Obama. If anyone knows of a better way please post here so we can all start working at this. Together we can do anything and we can't afford to lose hope.

Step1. First, you need to have your letter or postcard to send Barack Obama (at this time packages are discouraged). It can be a handwritten note, typed or even printed on the computer.

Step2. Be direct in what you would like to say to President Elect Barack Obama. People who send letters are addressing their concerns and efforts in the United States while others are requesting a simple autograph.

Step3. Make sure you include your name and address on the note in case it gets separated from the envelope.

Step4. Place your papers inside an envelope and address the left hand corner with your full name and address. It needs to be clearly written to avoid delays.

Step5. Next the center of the envelope needs to be addressed as follows: President-elect Barack Obama Presidential Transition Team Washington, DC 20270

Found at following website, http://www.ehow.com/...mpaign=yssp_art

So what do you say, are you with me? Would be great to see if any of us get a response from our letters, so if anyone does please post here and let us all know.

Thank you for your time and God bless all of you and your families.

Well I for one will be writing a letter when I get home tonight from work!

I see your filing I-130 but upon reading the guides at the top of the page it says you need 4 copies of the G-325A with your info, dated and signed by you the US citizen...and 4 copies of the G-325A with your honey's info dated and signed by her. (This is for your initial filing) make yourself a copy of each though. Look at the top of this page under Guides, and you will see I-130, click on that to give you more info. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRcmp police check

Hey all,
I got my fingerprint police check back from the rcmp but the certificate doesnt show my maiden name on it. I am alittle concerned here because from what i have read you have to have a certificate that has both names on it. I did send a FBI fingerprint card that said my maiden name and I am a little surprised that this certificate wouldnt mention my maiden name.. any advice?

Altough mine was for a K-1 Visa, I didn't change my name back to my maiden name when I married the first time after the divorce and my police clearance certificate only showed that name and not my maiden name. I knew the original application we filed had both names on it. They take ID so your more a number then a name I think. You information would transfer everytime you have a name change. I was worried it didn't have my previous name and that's what I was told. She said we don't just search out "name at the present time". If you were a criminal being Jane Doe, then married Joe Smith, then your still a criminal at Jane Smith. Your SIN number didn't change with the name. When I had my interview in Montreal and the lady was going through the paperwork and she hit that form I was waiting for the, "you need..." but she read it and flipped it over and moved on to the next one. Maybe someone who did a CR-1 will come along with more information. Good Luck.

We used first class with tracking number, and signature request, sent in September 2 and it arrived yesterday. I don't think sending it overnight
is going to make much difference, but its up to you. Contact name and phone number should be the petitioner and phone number should be where they would contact during business hours I would think. Good luck with your VISA. TRIPLE CHECK everything before sealing that envelope! innocent.gif

We did make copies of all the paperwork though. crying.gif So for people sending in their package, copy EVERYTHING. My honey is concerned about identity theft with the amount of info you have to give, his SSN, plus you bank cheque with signature, acct #, bank branch etc. We are hoping that its because of the holiday week it's just a little late getting there, even though the only scan shows sitting at the post office it was mailed at. Not sure what they use the email address we provide for - the only time you'll get an email notification is after you've registered on the USCIS web site - and then, only for future NOA (Notice of Action).

You can register HERE but you'll need your case number to do so (which will be on your NOA1). good.gif

Thank you, and thanks for the link, I will use it when he gets the first NOA, hopefully!! Take care

CanadaI-693 question for AOS

The quote I included in my prior post was a direct quote from the USCIS site's instruction page for the I-693. It is worded quite poorly and could be taken several ways.

I realize that...I was just stating that it also says the K-1 visa only needs the vacc. supplement. Our civil surgeon didn't realize till I gave him the instructions for him to read. I mention it to another Dr. who basically told me that "they were the doctor and I didn't know what I was talking about".

CanadaI-693 question for AOS

Hi guys. I'm going to be filling out all my AOS paperwork this weekend and am getting confused with the I-693. My medical was done in Montreal in august so its definitely still good so I wouldn't need the physical or blood work redone. So do I just need the civil surgeon here in Florida to do the vaccination supplemental (i-693a)?

If I do need the actual I-693 done by the civil surgeon, what parts do I need?

Thanks everyone!

You need the I-693 vacc supplement unless your DS-3025 is complete. Part 1, part 2-the vacc supplement, and part 5 of the I-693. They should have given you that at your medical. Just look down in the left corner and see if it says COMPLETE. Mine actually said incomplete eligable for waiver based on age appropriate. They would not accept mine as it was ticked off not complete. I think that's where the RFE's are coming in on people who are just sending the DS-3025. If its complete I don't think there is an issue. But that's just my opinion. We are waiting now on the whole TB skin test as my medical was done in Montreal and they did the chest x-ray not the TB skin test. So we are thinking we may get RFE'd for that. The website says you must have a TB skin test, but I know people are being approved with just the chest-x-ray. The TB skin test is not expensive, $10 bucks here at the local hospital. We should have had it done before we sent the RFE back it. Its a waiting game now....

CanadaI-693 question for AOS

After reading the instructions that come with the I-693, I can see how the doctors would think that they are required to give the medical. The instructions read as such:

It also says that you are required to attend. I would wager that many of the interviewers or personnel who review the files don't even look at the address of the applicant versus the address of the civil surgeon.

Actually is says right in the instructions for the I-693 regarding K-1 and only needing vacc. suppliment done. We took a copy to the civil surgeon and once he read it, he had no problem just doing that portion.

CanadaFaxed copy of the Compliance Letter for Vehicle Import
GM faxed me a copy, and mailed me the original. My POE made a copy and told me I needed the original for the DMV in the state in which I am registering my car. Two officers worked on my importing papers, they hadn't done one in a while and they had to bring out the manual! LOL The one officer told the other one who was making the copies to make sure he returned to me the original. If they are just going to make a copy, the POE that is, I would maybe call the DMV and ask if a copy of the compliance letter was ok or if it has to be the original? Just a thought. Good luck.

CanadaHow did you establish credit?

It is true that it is different establishing credit here vs at home. You can pull your own credit report as often as you like it is not a hit against your credit, but if you apply for credit (loans or credit cards) that will hit your credit record here and decrease your FICO score.

Wis-CanFemaleCanada2010-04-30 21:18:00
CanadaHow did you establish credit?
When I moved here my husband put me on his accounts at the bank and credit cards. I actually paid off my canadian car loan with a us loan that my husband took out. When I check my credit recently to see if it was at least started, it shows the visa balance and me as an authorized user, paid up to date, no balance, and it showed my canadian car loan paid off. I thought that was interesting, the loan shows paid but it doesn't show the new loan taken out. I won't complain about that. I also got a credit card on my own from clothing outlet so that is showing on there as well with a 80 dollar balance, and paid to date. It does take a while to build credit. Don't keep checking on your credit though. Each time you make an inquiry into your credit, it goes as a hit against your credit. You can get a free credit report once a year that doesn't go against you. If you apply for too much credit then that also goes against you, reducing your credit score. Go slow,...it will come. Good luck.

CanadaFiling Income Tax in Canada
Hi everyone, its been a while! I have a tax question for all my fellow Canadians. This post will probably need to get moved but its been so long since I've been on here that I can't even remember where to go! LOL Anyways, I called Revenue Canada three times, two times I got different answers and the third time I got, "Someone will call you back",...and no one has. I moved in September of 2009, and filed a Canadian return in January 0f 2010. Now do I need to file this year? I had EI payments as well as my Workers Comp Pension payments. When I called the first time it was, no they already allott the income tax from your EI and Workers Comp is not taxable. I did work part-time here as well and reported all my income while on EI. He told me I did not need to file a return with them. I called again just to be sure and was told, NO NO NO you need to file as you had income. Now I am just totally confused about the whole thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

CanadaDriver's License for Canadians

Hi everyone!

I am planning on moving from Ontario to Florida in the fall and was wondering about how to obtain a driver's license. I've read some of the past discussions on this topic but I couldn't find anything specific for Canadians moving to Florida. My fiance is in the military so if I am not able to drive, it will be quite a challenge for me while he's deployed.
Does anyone know if I can drive with my Canadian license even though I am no longer a resident of Canada? Also, is a Canadian license transferable to a Florida license or do I need to retake a road test?

Thank you all very much!

I know each state is different. I came from Nova Scotia to Wisconsin. I went on the the motor vehicle website for the state, and after much reading was able to find a link to tell me every thing I needed to know about driving in the US. Try going on to the state motor vehicle website. They probably have a number you can call to get the info if you didn't want to do some researching online. I had a year to get it changed in Wisconsin and they only thing I had to do was the vision test. My license is only good for two years based on my two year greencard. I will have to go back when I get my 10 year one. Good luck. Hopefully someone who moved to Florida from Canada will come along and give you more detailed info.
