K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInteresting

Agreed, you did not write that she doesn't understand why a USC would want to marry a foreigner - Spartacus did. But you did write that your interpretation was that she didn't understand anything.
Yodrak

Really there's nothing to gain by twisting my words.

My comment about the director not knowing anything was in no way an "interpretation" of Spartacus' remark that she doesn't understand why a USC would want to marry a foreigner.

As I clarified already:

"What I do know is that they did not send out RFES based on NOA1 date and they are not processing by NOA1 date. If I chose to come to the conclusion that she knows nothing based on these facts

Maybe you've been banging your head on your desk for too long.

Thanks for that - way to kick me when I'm down.

Why do you think I'm banging my head? Because I've been waiting 144 days (while people who filed 60 days ago have been approved) with no information from CSC, no updates, nothing.

I'm fairly sure you'd feel the same way.

Kit,

You have every right to your opinion, the same as everyone else. That is part of what makes this country so great. I think we are seeing some folks becoming so frustrated that they are taking out their anger on others who are in the same situation as they are. Nevertheless, it is not nice to kick people when they are down.

So, if you are going to kick Kitkat, kick me, too!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInteresting

kitkat,
Accepting for the sake of discussion that it's true the director of the CSC does not understand why a USC would want to marry a foreigner, how does one deduce from that that the woman does not understand "anything"?
Even limiting the scope of "anything" to the work of the CSC, USC's marrying foreigners is a very small part of that work. It may be 'everything' to you and other VJers, but it's you - not her - who has no clue about the tasks facing a USCIS Service Center.
Yodrak

Gosh thanks for that clarification.

I never said that she doesn't undertand why a USC would want to marry a foreigner and I couldn't care less what she thinks.

How does one deduce from statement that she does not understand anything? Well it's not possible to to come to that conclusion based on that statement - which I didn't.

What I do know is that they did not send out RFES based on NOA1 date and they are not processing by NOA1 date. If I chose to come to the conclusion that she knows nothing based on these facts, so be it - I'm entitled to have my opinion.

I never implied that I know about the tasks facing a USCIS service center. It's not my job to understand what tasks they face. My job is to provide them with the correct and complete information to process my paperwork.

If they had the common sense to send an email out to petitioners in the beginning of this fiasco enlightening us about the tasks they face, I would be better informed. But until they provide me some information, I have no way to understand the tasks they face and frankly, at this point, I don't really care. I provided all the correct information, I paid the fee, and I am watching people who filed petitions three months after me with approvals.

I believe I am entitled to be more than a little pissed off.

Kitkat,

You most certainly have every right to be upset! I do not blame you one bit. This seemingly endless delay has driven nearly everyone to the brink of madness and disaster!

Spartacus,

I happen to be a federal government employee. It would be very easy for me to take great umbrage at your comments, however I do realize you are venting and have every right to be cranky. I manage the computer network for a large government-owned hospital in Chicago. Mind you, I am not saying that there are NO lazy government workers, but I can tell you from experience that it is a miracle that the federal government, yours and mine, is able to function at all, let alone as well as they do given the precious few resources most federal workers have to do their jobs with.

In the hospital where I work I have never seen one "lazy government worker". Each person must deal each day with too little support, too little training, too little supplies, too much stress. Why is that, you ask? Because you and I do not want any more of our hard-earned dollars going towards federal income tax. If money were no object, I am certain the wait would be very short, indeed for our K-1 visas, but alas, that is not the case. I am not making excuses for the unbelievalby slow pace of approvals, only please do not toss all government workers into the "lazy, good-for-nothing government worker" bucket.

I could earn significantly more money with my IT skills in private industry than I do working for the Veterans Administration. However as a service-connected, disabled veteran myself, I want to give back to those who were willing and many times did give more to their country than theyever should have been asked to give. Yes, each day, I have to "make do" with not enough computers, little or no training, not enough staff, hardware, etc, etc.... so that veterans are able to receive the highest level of health care available.

I am off my soap box now. Thanks for allowing me to "have my say". B)

Jeepers! Now I am beginning to feel bad since it appears that Rong and I are about the only ones approved this week so far! Of course, we are pleased with the approval, but we are saddened by the lack of a maelstrom of approvals this week as per last week! :( What is up with that? Come on, CSC! Go do, that voodoo, that you do, sooo well! (With apologies to Blazing Saddles! :P )

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresImmigration lawyer vs. Doing it yourself
If your case has no complicating factors I suggest saving the money you would have spent on an attorney and use it for airfare to bring you SO to the US. I know of several couples who have used attorneys and the bottom line is that the attorney sent the forms to their clients for them to provide the information required on the forms. So my question is then: What good did an attorney do for these couples? If there are complications, then by all means use an attorney. This is only MHO.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do you track K1 to NBC
Is it okay to call each day to check to see if the transfer has taken place? Is there a log which is kept of the number of times you have called to check? Might the NVC folks become a little "testy"? I really feel like calling 20 times day not unlike the 20 times a day I checked www.uscis.gov for any touches, except my long distance bill would skyrocket! :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do you track K1 to NBC
I find it interesting that some have their Case numbers in a new days, others much longer. Yesterday, I called the NVC to inquire about my case number. The woman on the line told me that they do not have it as of yet. She asked when it was tranferred over. I told her August 7th. She told me it takes at least two weeks to a month for the package to be transferred. In fact, she said it is not unheard of to take 90 days!! What is up with that?

The horror! Just when I was thinking the worst was over....here we go again!

Rob,

If we didn't laugh at this nonsense we would be crying. I much prefer laughing....especially at some of the trolls we have here on VJ. Most members are wonderful, only a handful are not.

Perhaps the "noise" is when the fiance says to her, "Woman! Make me a peanut butter sandwich!" :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHas a Senator or Congressman helped you?
Although I do not really know for certain, I have to think that contacting both of my Senators helped me because as far as I know the week of August 7th there were few cases processed, ours being one of them. Honestly, I have no idea but I would like to think that my representatives in Washington, D.C. are good for something!! :P Juuuuuust kidding, Senators.....

If 17 July receipt NOA2s are coming soon, then 19 July receipt date NOA2s can't be too far behind! I am beginning to feel something.....not quite sure what it is....it has been so long since I have felt it.....might it be, could it be, is it...excitement I feel? I'm thinking that perhaps it is... I will, hopefully, know for certain by the end of the week or beginning of next week!

You guys want to see a happy dance? Wait until we get NOA2....then I'll be "shakin' all over"! :P

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother End of the Road
I am not an advice expert. Heck, I don't even play one on TV, but here goes. It is probably worth what you paid for it.... :P

Everything in life is a gamble as we do not have any crystal balls with which to foretell the future. Whether it is a long distance relationship, a "short distance" relationship, or a marriage we just do not know. Therefore, we "take chances" on things in life after evaluating them with the best information we have available at the time.

Who knew that after 30 years of marriage that I would have asked my then wife for a divorce? When we were dating and first married the thought of a divorce never entered into my mind. Stuff happens!

Be happy in the fact that you took that chance, for it could have been the best move of your life! Without taking chances we cannot grow in life, in love, in our careers. It hurts now and I know that these words sound hollow, but they are true from a man who has experienced a divorce; time will heal your wounds. It hurts now and will for some time, but each day you will feel just a little bit better and one day you will be ready to "take another chance at love".

God bless you both. :crying: Rong and I are so sad to hear this news, but things happen for a reason. Many times we are not clear as to what the reason is until much later. Keep the faith, baby!
