I was just curious as to what you thought of the Hotel if you stayed there at all. My company has a deal with Shangri-la in Makati as well, what are your thoughts on that as well if you stayed there?

I am really worried.

St Lukes did not keep Shir's passport at the end of the first day. Nothing was said about something being wrong but she still has her passport.

Is this a problem?

How many people kept their passport till the second day??

Shir says she is scheduled to return for shots, she will get 3, I am thinking this is a good thing.

She is really depressed right now and I can't think of anything to say that would cheer her up...

crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

St Lukes never keep any passports...they always hand it to the applicant at the end of the day or whenever you're done with the tests.

Is this a new procedure now? I had my medicals a week before my interview ( Sept 11, 2007 ) and at the time St. Lukes kept my passport at the end of the second day. I received my passport with my visa stamped on it together with the brown envelope. Well, it is 2009 and they do have a lot of changes since I had my interview.

They do keep the passport still, my fiance had her interview on Jan. 14th, 09 and they kept her passport after the second day of interview so they could pass it along with the medical stuff they send to the Embassy.

I've think I've read some post on here where ppl were told to hold onto their passport since the interview was in a day or so and they were just told to bring it with them to the embassy during the interview..

To the OP, if they were told to come back for shots, then the first day of the exam must of went well. Yes, 3 shots sound about right, my fiance got the same amount.

Good luck to your fiance on her second day good.gif

PhilippinesAnd yet another one of those questions
QUOTE (mae232 @ Jan 25 2009, 06:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi everybody! I know that what i will ask have been asked and answered over and over again..but I hope that someone can help me out here...Ok here it goes...

1. Regarding the appointment letter from the USE Manila..how am I going to get a hard copy of that? Will I get it after I call the embassy or will they send it to me immediately after they have logged in our case to their data base? I know that the email copy will be admissible when it comes to SLMEC but I wonder if I could also use the e-mail of the appointment letter for the Interview? Do they allow that? Or does it need to be the original appointment letter? When you set youre appointment, you should get the letter within a week or so, so by the time you go to your interview, you should have the hard copy as well as the email they sent to you.

2. Ok I need to have 2 sets of DS 156...but does each copy need to have the same bar code in it or 2 different barcodes will be fine? It shouldn't matter, my fiance printed 2 of them and she never mentioned it to me or had problems @ the Embassy, she passed blush.gif

3. Lastly, my fiance doesnt have a W2 for 2007 because he lost it..he only have his 2007 ITR but he will be filing for 2008 ITR this January so I would get the latest one and have his 2008 W2..would this be enough? We dont have bank statements or anything like that just paystubs for 3 months and employment letter. Although his income is way above the poverty line, will they still look for anything else or that would be sufficient? Depending on when the interview is, he can actually order his 2007 tax transcript from the IRS and that will not need to have the W2 with it as it's and official from from the IRS, but if he has his 2008 ITR and W2, that should be fine as well and I would probably go with that good.gif . I didn't include any bank statements or other docs(Just my 2007 ITR, 2006/7 W2, Employment letter, and 2/months worth of paystubs), as long as you're above the 125% poverty line, you will be ok.

I hope anyone can answer my queries and help me with this..Any insights would be greatly appreciated..Thanks in advance! smile.gif

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaVisa denied.!? No reentry for 10 yrs
QUOTE (dani1818 @ Feb 11 2009, 11:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband had his interview at the US Embassy in Juarez Mexico and it was denied and said he could not come back 10 yrs. At the interview they asked him who his co-sponsor is, where he lives, what my name is, where I was born, his address, which he answered all correctly. Then they asked him the first time he entered the US and how many times he entered, which he truthfully answered. He entered illegally 10 yrs ago and entered 3 different times then she said she was sorry but his visa was denied and could not come back for 10 yrs. Is there anything else I can do. I've been told I can apply for a work permit. Is this true? Should I talk to a lawyer? Please anyone help with suggestions. I am so upset with my government. I don't see how they can keep a family apart. We did everything by the books, We paid all that money, for what? My husband has never been in any kind of trouble. It was just a big slap in the face. Any suggestions of comments are welcome.

Thank You.

Hmm.. not sure of what you can do, even if he answered the questions truthfully, he did enter the US 'illegally' 10/yrs ago. I also think you should repost this in the Latin Region or have it move to the correct region, as you will probably get more help.

Good luck with this situation...

Hello all

due to some small problems my wife had to reschedule her interview date from the 3rd of march to the 25th of march.

but we already did and paid for her medical . now she got a email with a new date to go to st lukes do we have to do ti again ?

Thank You

Andrew & Rose Rodriquez

Nope, medical is good for six months. When we scheduled the interview, the email stated to take medical 1 week b4 interview.. but we took it a month before the interview.. it's more of a template when they send out that email.. just a reminder to take your medical before the interview.. I wouldn't worry about it..

yes she will get a packet cause will have to go to St Lukes for her medical she will get the appointment then she will get appointment for the interview if all her paperwork is in order it will be ok

The problem is that I don't even know what paperwork she needs. I want her to do her paperwork now but I don't knwo what to do. Is there any step that we might forget that would take a long time to complete?

I am reading about DOCUMENT VERIFICATION....What documents does she need this doen for?

Will they call her or just send something in the mail? What if it never arrives? She doesn't live at the address anymore.

Sorry I am so lost

First go here: http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3204.html

This is the US Embassy site for Manila. You can get most if not all your answers from there. They change things around in March of this year, your fiance now has to call or you can call to make her interview appointment once they recieve the Petition from NVC. NVC will send you a letter with your case # starting with MNLxxxxxxxx, you can use the approved letter from NVC to take the medical, without even having an interview scheduled yet. They do not send out the packet anymore, you have to download it from their site(link I gave you, poke around the links on the left). When you/she calls for the interview, they will advise you about the medical, what to bring, etc, and then send a confirmation email to your fiance about the interview. If you call, you have to pay $18 for a PIN and you will be able to talk to someone @ the embassy, but it is only good for 2 calls, as I just found out today when I called, I heard people say it's good for 3 calls, but that's not what the recording said when I was doing it today..

As of October, Document Verification is suspended for now, so keep an eye on the link I gave you if they decide to start that up again, as it caused a serious backlog on petitions, hence they suspended it for now.

Your fiance also has to attend a CFO seminar before she can leave the Philippines, it's required, and they stamp her passport so she can leave.

Just study up from the link I gave you and you should be all set, also, check out the sub-forum section, Philippines, you can find alot of answers there as well, just do a search in that forum for a question you might have, I'm sure it's been answered before..

Good luck on your journey!!

I am wondering what they look for (Waraw, Poland). I sent an I-864 with my I-129Ffor the K3 package, but that was 9 months ago, I have new tax info. Should I file both forms?

CJ-G

From my understanding, I-134 are for K-1/K-3 and I-864 are for IR/CR-1 route. If you have new tax info and the interview will be after you file this years tax return, then you would send your latest tax return, I would send the forms as close to the interview as possible so they have no doubt that you are still working and able to support your SO.

Congrats and good luck!!

Hope someone will help me with my concern...been very stressed and worried abt the visa and busy with the holidays that i feel that my mind is not functioning well...lol.. hope people wont find my inquiry stupid... thanks smile.gif

here's my timeline - hope this will help smile.gif

6/17/08 -mailed
6/19 - received by Vermont
6/23 - check cashed out
6/26 - 1st NOA received-w/ receipt date
7/10 - updated (as per checking on USCIS website)
8/26 - last update (as per checking on USCIS website)
11/06 - approved in Vermont
11/10 - 2nd NOA received by my fiance in US
12/05/08 - letter received by me here in Mla. fr US Embassy Manila, Philippines (via Air 21)

And no, the Embassy does not schedule your medical exam, it's a first come first serve, but since you don't have your passport yet, you can't do the medical exam, they will need it when they finish with your exam as they take it and send the results with your passport to the Embassy. If you child is on the petition, then bring her also for the exam, the link I gave you will have all the info you will need for medical amount to pay for you and your child. It has to be paid in peso, not US dollar.

QUOTE (cyjj17 @ Dec 16 2008, 10:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
here's the letter i got from the Embassy :

This is in reference to your finace(e) (k1/k3) visa case.

Your case is eligible to be scheduled for a visa interview. You may request an interview appointment date by calling the Visa Information Services at 1-909-101-7878 (from the Philippines) or 1-888-877-9888 (from the US). There is a fee for calling the Visa Information Services. You should compile all required documents and undergo the medical examination before your interview. It is important that you must have your complete documents; otherwise, your visa application will be refused or you may be asked to return for another appointment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Please read and follow all interview preparation instructions for fiance(e) K1/K3 visa applicants located on the Embassy's web site at http://manila.usemab...v/wwwh3238.html. The instructions contained at the web site will inform you the required documentation and procedures to follow prior to the interview dat.

A consular officer will determine if you are qualified for a visa during the interview. However, if the officer determines that the documentation or information already provided is insufficient to establish eligibility for a visa, the officer may request the submission of additional documents or require additional information until the true facts of the case can be ascertained.

----- im just confused coz' based on what i read here and some other sites... i ahve to pass some documents first to the embassy before they will schedule for an interview... i saw in some post here that PACKET 3 RECEIVED and PACKET 3 SUBMITTED are included on their timeline... the letter that I received is that the Packet 3 or will I be receiving another letter after this... just confused and just want make sure i'm doing it right...thanks

If you got the letter from USEM, then your petition is @ the embassy now, and you can call them and schedule an interview, they will ask for your address, MNL case #, name of petitioner, birthday, etc.. The document that you are talking about that has to be at the Embassy is your Petition, and since it's there, you can now schedule your interview, or your fiance can..

The link in that letter they sent you is for the Packet you have to download. They used to send that packet out, but now you have to download/print it yourself, they changed it in March of this year. Here is the packet you download, English version, they have a Tagalog version if it's too hard to understand the English version: http://manila.usemba...ov/wwwfk1en.pdf

Different countries do the interview schedule differently, that's why you see some people have, 'Packet 3 Recieved' in their timeline.

Hope this helps and good luck with your interview!

I would give it about a week from the time NVC sent your petition to Manila Embassy so it can be put in their system. Then you can call the embassy and schedule the interview. good.gif

I recieved a letter from NVC on Dec. 6, and I called up Dec. 11th to schedule the interview. I had called NVC to see what date they sent it, and it looked like it went out the next day that they got it.. toinks!!

Just to clarify for others... it isn't necessary to have this letter notarized (doesn't hurt if you do, but it's not needed). good.gif

Yeah I didn't see it was require to be notarized. Yeah the HR department is creating the letter and is simple and to the point. I just wanted to know if it needed to be more "professional" with the consulate address & wording.

Thanks,
Rayito

Exactly, doesn't need to be notarized, they just had that option for me @ work and I got it done anyways.. blush.gif . Rule of thumb for me is, if it doesn't specify a particular individual to address it to.. "To whom it may concern" is good and professional enough good.gif

Also, I didn't need to have the Embassy address on the letter.

Good luck with your papers!!

You are fine. My bio was 4/18 and I was approved a week ago. They approve by bio date. From my estimate, you should be approved in the next 2 weeks. They are now approving 4/25 bio dates......Patience is the key. You have waited this long. Just a few more days.....

If you look at the list, you can clearly see they are not approving by BIO date... if the was the case, I shouldn't have been the first one to have been approved... just saying..

NEVER EVER use USPS!!! they are full of B.S.

wow.gif sorry to hear you've had trouble with them... I've been using them all the time and not one of my mail/packages have yet to be lost, they've been delivered within the time I was quoted when sending my package.

Now, what happens to the package/letter after it gets to the pinas post office, is another story, I'm sure that is out of USPS control after that...

I used USPS Global Express for everything and didn't have any problems 5 different times. One was even a laptop!! Guess I was lucky as I've heard others weren't. Other stuff I sent not via Global Express but by USPS wasn't that lucky. Wasn't that important tho.
Just sent a USPS 4 pound Global Express small box yesterday. Cost was $43 US. Ouch!!!

Yep, I've used USPS International Flat Rate Envelope and small box. I only had 1 issue with the Phils post office, as they had my package in the time frame USPS said, but they didn't notify my SO that it was there and it sat in the local PO for an extra 7 days blink.gif .. toinks!! But still not bad for sending out to little city out in the mountains that usually takes 8-10/hrs to get to on a bus from Manila.. lol..

I did see a DHL envelope in the Post Office, so I would probably go with that if I ever really needed to send important documents in a short amount of time...

Unless she needs original documents, sending thru email and having them print it out is another good way of doing it... good.gif

Otherwise, I've been using USPS to send her cards and letters with no problems.. wink.gif

just like everybody else, i agree it's normal. and a lot gave great suggestions. one more suggestion... if you miss the old school way, why not surprise her with a love letter via snail mail. we do that at times... and it's just A LOT sweeter than email luv.gif

Yes, it's perfectly normal that after a while it's not going to be like when you first met. And what you mentioned about sending love letters is a really great idea, my fiance and I do that all the time. It's even better if you don't tell each other that you sent one, kinda like a surprise for each other to just get a letter in the mail...

I'll send some cards that are funny just so we both can have a laugh after she gets it laughing.gif

But also, don't 4get you also have to have some 'me' time. I usually go out on the weekends with my buddies and then when I get home, we do have something to talk about...

Hi,

I got here in the states using a K1 visa.We finally got married. And we couldn't wait to file for ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS. and I badly need your help, guys.
I would truly appreciate it if you can provide me answers to the following queries:

1.) How much do we have to pay for the forms?-$1010 for everything

2.) What forms do I need to fill out?-AOS (I-485) ; EAD (I-765) AND AP (I-131) if you need to travel outside US while AOS is still in process3.) When will I be allowed to work?-When your EAD was approved and EAD card is in your hands

4.) Does my husband need to file a I-130 petition for me?-YES I-130 is for a K-3 VISA, correct??

5.) What other documents do I need to send along with the forms?-Please read instructions of each form. TReat each form individually.

Other tips which you think will be helpful in filing for an adjustment of status would be acknowledged.--Hi !there's a separate forum for AOS. Please read and reread everything on the instructions to avoid lacking or misunderstanding of instructions and to avoid the boogie man "RFE".Good luck and God blessThanks a lot guys.

I agree with everything except question #4. I'm not at this step yet, but isn't the 1-130 for a K-3 visa? Per USCIS instrucitons for I-130 Petition for Alien Relative
Purpose of Form :
For citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States to establish the relationship to certain alien relatives who wish to immigrate to the United States.

Otherwise, richo pretty much answered your questions good.gif

Walang anuman... but to also answer your question how customs can tell if it's pirate or original.. Original CD/DVD are silver on the bottom and usually have a barcode embeded/printed on the underside(close to the hole n the center), as blank CD/DVDs that you purchase to burn, have a blue-ish color bottom cus of the dye they used for recordable media (the bottom color may change with different manufactures).

I don't see why they would do that if it's original. I had bought some CD's(15) when I was visisting back in May, and I brought those back with me and they didn't even bother asking about it, they did however asked about a shell lamp I had...hehehe.. but the customs agent in Hawaii let me go ahead with just a warning and let me keep it.. kicking.gif toinks!!

thanks for the reply! i have couple of CDs lang which we plan to use for the wedding. any ideas also about burned CDs?

Well, the real question for you is, are those burned CDs more important than your visa? my_panacea = Greg mention her hubby not having any trouble with his album full of burned DVDs, but being a minority, you might draw more attention than he would.

If you have a laptop, just copy them to the HDD and burn them later to a CD when you make it home with your hubby. Another thing you can do is, if you have a gmail/yahoo email account, you can just email the songs to yourself and dl them later, I think you can attach up to 10MB per email(about 3-4 songs in .mp3 or .wma format). There's ways of getting the songs later, but right now, I would just not bother with the burn CDs, you never know, you can be the unlucky one they decide to check.

ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CFO SEMINAR?

ORLANDO

It basically means that the parents have to write a letter stating they are aware of the marriage of their daugher/son. This is taken from the Phil gov website on marriages, but should apply as well.

Parents' Consent (for 18-21 years old) or Parent's Advice (for 21-25 years old): Under Philippine law, the legal age for marriage is 18. If the contracting parties are between the ages of 18 and 21, they must present written consent to the marriage from their father, mother or legal guardian. While any contracting party between the age of 22 and 25 must present written parental advice, i.e., a written indication that the parents are aware of the couple's intent to marry.

Hope this helps, unless the CFO has different rules from this...

Do we need to submit this with the original K1 packet? My fiance is 22.

Nope, that's for when she goes and takes the CFO.

Philippineskorean air
Never used Korean Air. But I've used NWA and Hawaiian Airlines, and I like Hawaiian Airlines better. It seems like you're just shopping around for airline experience before making your purchase.. cool.gif So, I'll share my experience..

When ever I used NWA, I always ended up stopping in Japan, which has a very nice and clean airport. But, the last time I used them, coming from Japan to the US, it seemed like all the stewardess that were going to retire that year was hosting that flight.. whistling.gif

Hawaiian Airlines, stops where else smile.gif .. in Honolulu(and this will be your POE, so if you're looking for a different POE, then this would not be a good choice). The only reason I really like Hawaiian Air better is they serve filipino food, and the captain will make announcements in English and Tagalog. And, another plus, is that the stewards have the Island hospitality, very nice and always smiling..

Good luck in what ever your choice is..

My friend who just found out said his wife told him she was bored. Bored blink.gif He was always taking her all over the place. They would go to several other islands and spend several days each at various beach resorts. I am just dizzy because this seems to be a reoccuring thing. I have been having some very deep conversations with my wife about this and she, like me, doesn't understand it.

Bored.. hmmm.. so they go to all these different places, islands, and spend several days there... I guess, I would have to say, how did they spend their time together.

When I was @ Boracay, I've seen couples go to the beach and end up doing their own thing. What I'm trying to say is, doesn't matter if you give someone everything you think they could want, if that person cares more about attention then possesion, then all that stuff ain't going to matter.

Just becuase someone comes from a poor situation(dont' know if your friends wife was in that situation), doesn't mean that if you buy them all this stuff and take them everywhere, they will be happy. Material things can only get you so far in a relationship, unless they are a gold digger, but that's another subject.... toinks!!!

JMHO, but in the context of immigration, I would surmise that a large percentage of these cheaters did not enter the marriage with bona fide intentions.

None of my friends' wives/girlfriends who cheated are in the U.S. The husband/boyfriend is living in the Philippines. I can probably live with not understanding the cheating if they aren't married but once you are married why cheat?

I guess the only way to find the answer to that(I'm sure there are lots of different reasons), is to wait for ppl who actually cheated and will admit to it and give you their reason for doing it.

And even then, I don't think their reason for doing it is going to be ok with you. As I see it, your belief is that cheating is wrong after you marry. I don't believe in cheating either... if you want out, then get out of a relationship then find someone else, it just makes it more complicated when it involves 3 ppl.. unless.. it's something else.. ah.. not ganna go there..lol..

---IMO, I think alot of it has to do with temptation and how they grew up percieving a relationship.

You need to beware of Fast Food places like Mc Donald / Jollibee etc.

The food is poor quaility, and processed and full of High Fructose Corn Syrup.

It's the reason(In my opinion) so many people in USA are fat.

When I was in PI most of the people I saw was skinny, But I did notice when I looked at the people who were at ChowKings / Jollibees, there seem to be alot more fat people eating there.

Yeah fastfood is bad, the reason why the people in the philippines some of them does not gain weight because of the humidity that makes people sweat a lot, the lifestyle people walks all the time, not many has vehicles, most of them ride jeepneys, trysikel, and bus then walk to the point of destination.. Unlike in the US that everytime you have to go somewhere even just several blocks away, they have to drive the car and weather plays a big important role as well.. People does not sweat that much like the people in our country unless they went to gym or did the exercise.

I am saying this prior to my experience when I brought my husband in the Philippines and Singapore for almost a month, he lost 16 pounds, because he was sweating at all times and we did walk a lot.

Lifestyle has a lot to do with weight..

Couldn't agree more.. and also mentioned by Honeyskin, portion control is a big factor.. I know I lose weight every time I come for a visit home, usually takes me about a week n a half for my body to adjust to the weather change.. plus, going 2 the province and eating there, it's more vegetables than anything, so yeah, different eating habit all together..

but to answer the OP question.. I love eating @ Chicken Inasal.. or any of the Inasal restaurants.. smile.gif.. but for fast food, Chow King is okay, not really a fast food person.. oh, I also like Pho..

I'll stand my ground .. it was not to be insulting ... just looking for info. I've noticed there is an active group of people from the PI that posts ... and decided to toss the question out where I stood a good chance of getting an answer and/or discussion. If you've noticed my posts on vj (and I make a lot) ... I may tease, yet I tend to draw the line and not be insulting (unless I know you ... then you are fair game ... and I expect the same in return tongue.gif)

I never said you were insulting, I just stated that sub-forums are not immune to insulting threads....

And I don't pay attention to how many post an individual makes or could care less what their member status is on this board as it just shows you how long they've been a member or how much of their time they spend on this forum... don't get me wrong, I know some people spend lots of time on here helping people out.. but I don't have as much time as others do... speaking of time.. I need to hit the sack.. need to wake up early for work..

Night everyone!!

Ingats lagi!!
