Thats a good amount, dont worry! A letter is not really necessary, if they are concerned, they will call her. I think you will be just fine though.

It is very likely that nobody will even bother. My husband has never shown any ties when entering the UK and i never showed any when entering the US. We didnt even know we should take things back then!

I do think its a good idea to take a couple of things/photocopies. That way IF anything happens, you are prepared. Fail to plan and you plan to fail and all of that.

Do you rent a house? Do you have a car? If you do, you could show a tenancy agreement and a car lease or insurance payments or something.

Also, are you both applying for a visa to live in the US? If you are, show proof of that such as NOA1 or something to prove that you dont have plans to settle in the UK.

United KingdomEducation System - UK compared to US?
Like others have said, a lot of it is really down to the area she lives in the UK and where she will be in the US to how much different it will be for her.

From comparing my school experiences (poor part of Nottingham) to my husbands (mixed town in Upstate NY) they were drastically different. It took me until almost 20 to get a maths GCSE! It was part my fault, part the teachers and partly the way it was run. My husband learnt a lot at school and has happier memories than i do. But im not sure that theyre even comparable in a fair way.

Why not check out the schools local to you and see how theyre doing compared to the one she is at now.

United Kingdomget married in UK
There is a thread pinned at the top of this page titled something like "Before you permanently move to the US" Take a look in there to see if you qualify to immigrate to the UK.

You will probably still have to leave though. You cant normally just go somewhere, get married and stay. It would be a good idea for him to go and see an immigration lawyer for a free consultation. They know the UK processes best and you can both make your decision then.

Just dont forget that you need your police certificate to take to the medical with you.

United KingdomPaying For Visa At Embassy??
People who pay for visas at the embassy are doing DCF. Filing directly to London. The new fee is $230 so that will be a more recent one, but it used to be around $400.

If you are not doing DCF, then its nothing to worry about, simply different experiences.

United KingdomPacket 3
Just a side note, London is currently saying it's taking them 3-4 weeks to open and log incoming mail. And there are delays on top of that due to the two public holidays. (I emailed them to ask why they didnt log my mail when it got to 4 weeks!)

United KingdomRescheduling interview with London Embassy?

Sort of off-topic but this thread just reminded me of my own wait for my rescheduled interview letter for London - I managed to bring my interview forward to help with the close flight time I had booked and was anxious to make sure I had everything perfect for the interview so there would be no delays.

Letter didn't come, didn't come, London said they had sent it - I was going out of my mind, then there was a knock on the door and my very sheepish neighbour handed over a rather squashed looking envelope.

Her dog had stolen it out of the postman's van (along with several other items) and had hidden them in his bed! She found them a week later when cleaning it out.

It was the most crazy thing. I sometimes think about that when people don't receive their RFE letters etc. You never know what can happen to a piece of post.

 I know its terrible, but i just had such a laugh at that!

The medical is now valid for 6 months because of the X-ray. Call or email the embassy to find out what they recommend.

Wow im so sorry it worked out this way. I know moving is hard and there are a lot of changes to go through, but acting like that is out of order, no matter how bad she must have been feeling!

I hope you are able to move on from this and find somebody who really makes you happy. For the record, no, more drink isnt offensive to UK people  At least not anybody i know!

Onwards and upwards.

United Kingdomelectronics in the embassy
There is a sheet of paper on the desks in Goulds that shows everything that you cant take into the embassy so you can sort it all out in there.

United Kingdomelectronics in the embassy
No. You can leave them at Gould Pharmacy. If you are coming from Bond Street tube station, you will turn left out of there and keep going until you reach North Audley Street. Goulds is on your right down there very close to the Embassy. It is £3 for a small storage bag. We fit two phones and a camera in it and plenty more would have fit.

I know! I just got my phone bill, £20.75 for a 9 minute call! Im going to call the other line and complain because it should have only been about £12.

Unfortunately, you need an email code for them to respond to your email and the only way to get it is from that number and even then, they dont like giving out the codes.

All you can do is call the £1.23 a minute line i guess. Did you pay for the courier? You should have a tracking number which you can check on too.

United Kingdomneeding some info here

Thanks for the info Im sorry I didnt put any more details
I am asking mainly becasue I do have an american girlfriend and we do have the intention of marrying. We do want to be together just the lacking of certain skills or the funds needed it is a pain.
So many restrictions

If you have a US girlfriend and you want to marry, then the K-1 (fiance visa) or the CR-1 (if you get married and then spend time apart applying) is the one for you. Work ones are not really the way to go in your situation.

If you dont want to marry yet, then keep working on your relationship and when that time comes, the options i just mentioned will still apply.

There is one, but you need to get a code so that the email is not deleted from the expensive phone number. They will also give you the appropriate email address at that time.

Since you will be ticking "yes" to that question, just take the letter with you which will explain it. And since it was such a long time ago with no recurrences you will more than likely be fine. At most, they will ask for another recent letter from your doctor, but take the one you already have with you and it should be enough.

You also just need to take a vaccination record with you which the doctors receptionist can print off for you in seconds. You dont need to take the whole record. You can ask for a summary which they can also print off to take to the US with you if you wish. I had this done for myself, my husband and daughter and we threw them in the bin because frankly, they are useless! Full of mistakes and false information which was no use to us what so ever.

United KingdomLondon Embassy Restritions
http://voices.yahoo....nd-7769040.html That says not to bring suitcases and large bags. When i went for my daughters CRBA i took my handbag which was probably the size of a suitcase that day! We also took in one drink each (3) and we were not asked to taste it but ive heard of others being asked to.

I would say that if you dont NEED to bring it, then dont. I think you could probably store it at Goulds if they turn you around anyway.

United KingdomPolice Cert - whats needed?
I dont see that anywhere on the police certificate forms that you need transcripts http://www.acro.poli...orm V18 PDF.pdf . Or do you mean for the interview etc?

For the police certificate, it does ask you to provide details on the continuation page where you will need to write about it.
