United KingdomUnder 18 American Traveling to UK
I doubt it. If you were 15 or under, it would be very different. But at 17 it really doesnt change things. I made several slights between the UK and US when i was 17 and nobody ever mentioned a thing. Its always best to take the letter just in case. Its best to cover your back than be denied entry. Make sure you have your friends address and phone number in Nottingham too when you enter. Will somebody be picking you up from the airport? You are very unlikely to have problems if somebody comes to get you and they can contact who you will be staying with.

United KingdomUnder 18 American Traveling to UK
I actually dont think that it matters. A child visitor means under 16. When you are 17, you can fly alone without consent. I have been flying alone with no consent since i was 17 and never had any problems. Maybe try calling the UKBA for specific information. Or maybe even your airline. I contacted my airline the first time i flew with that same question!

Unaccompanied child means somebody under 16. Adult means 18+. 16 and 17 you can fly alone, but not act as somebody else's guardian.

Also, if you need any information on Nottingham or Manchester airport feel free to ask. I live in Nottingham and always fly out of Manchester!

United KingdomWhose fiance/fiancee is attending the interview?
I know im not doing a K-1 and my husband even lives in the UK with me! But he still wont be coming with me. Somebody needs to look after our daughter and even on the off chance they decided to let all 3 of us in, she wont be very happy sitting still for any length of time so i will just go alone.

They often turn peoples partners away even when they call in advance so its clear they dont expect you to bring them for a better chance of approval.

Good luck for when your time comes!

Im not sure but good luck to you both! It should be easy considering there aren't usually too many problems entering the UK. It cant hurt to bring extra things. Its better to have too much than not enough.

Do you know about the SAM's on the roofs of some blocks of flats in London? Residents aren't too happy about it.... :ranting:

I saw this on the news the other day!

I seem to be a few days behind everything though :bonk: I only watch Iplayer and stuff because i refuse to pay a tv licence

There was a lot of fuss about G4S not providing adequate security so they have brought in the army. Im glad i dont live in London right now!

Its not true at all! We wont be having one. We will be using a job offer for my husband though. Its a good thing to have if you dont have much else. It can just be drawn up with parents to make things easier. But is by no means necessary.

Im coming from Nottingham. I have to go to London to do my daughters CRBA on the 31st August and we're going on the train then because theres no way she is going to sit still for the 3 hours 45 on the national express. Its £120 return for that because we have to be there for 9am. When im going for the medical and interview i dont care how i get there as long as its cheap! :) With any luck i can get a decent time.

I came from Cardiff. Expensive because of the train but the medical wasn't too bad at all.

Do they have many appointments or is it pretty much get what youre given? I came across a cheaper site http://uk.megabus.com/megatrain.aspx but only certain times of the day!

Well, i just got NOA2, so you CAN do DCF with LLR  Did you decide to give it a go in the end or use the Chicago lock box?

I know you definitely cant to DCF on a student visa or as a visitor. But i think LLR is fine! I dont know for definite, but i hopefully will in a few weeks.

Like Nich-Nick says, when the petitioner files from abroad via the Chicago Lock Box, it often gets auto-expedited. Here is a thread which contains others experiences http://www.visajourn...-living-abroad/

United KingdomDCF London eligibility - they won't give me a straight answer...
We have filed DCF and my husband (the USC) has limited leave to remain which is what i expect you also have. We have not got to NOA2 yet but we have not been told we cannot file DCF. I did a lot of research on this, i couldnt find anything solid but mostly people who were not eligible had their petitions returned to them straight away and did not receive NOA1.

Like you already know, it says:

"In order to meet the residency criteria to file with this office; the United States citizen must satisfy two requirements:

The United States citizen must show evidence (valid UK Entry Clearance) that he/she has permission from the UK Home Office to legally reside in the United Kingdom; and
The United States citizen must also show that he/she has resided in the United Kingdom for at least six months from the date of arrival following approval of the UK Entry Clearance"

.

What we did, was include a colour photocopy the page of his passport with his entry stamp and of his visa. That proves the two things they ask for there.

Im sure it'll go fine for you :) I'll likely be saying the same to my landlord, just in case. Not that it will make much difference to them :bonk: They've been using a letterhead with an incorrect phone number on for years and they dont care! They write what theyre told if they get their rent on time  I had to ask my employer for proof that i worked there when i was getting the UK visa for my husband. He didnt like it so decided to ignore my calls and emails. I guess to them if it doesnt make their lives easier, they dont want to do it sometimes!

Youre right, what they have asked of you is way out of order. They even say not to make travel plans that cannot be changed for this very reason. If you had done that before your interview and the officer just decided to be in a bad mood, it would be completely wasted.

Im sure if somebody else looks at it this time, they will accept it straight away. You have everything they usually require and probably more by now.

Im glad youre willing to take it higher up if they dont issue your visa this time. They are not playing by their own rules. Ones that are made very clear all throughout the visa process. It WONT come to that though!

maybe she just can't believe that men would move to the other side of the world for love?!

She might do. Or maybe she just doesnt believe anyone would do it. Ask my mother. She thinks its mad! :bonk:

Yeah and today it was a South African laid back guy. Maybe she's just miffed because a South African beat Michael Phelps in the swimming.....joke-joke!! :P :D

She thinks she has the power to stop any guy that she likes the look of from leaving
