Well, let's hope then that you hear from the consulate before you interview, and get a copy of that form if that is what you need. I don't know what your schedule is like, but if worse comes to worse, I suppose you'll have to get other "form", and then they'll issue your visa after receiving it like jenmac75 had to. Hopefully though the one you have is what you'll need!

Sorry I couldn't help you more than I did. Best of luck at your interview, let us know when you know!

Spoke to a really nice lady today from the consulate in Vancouver. She cleared up the issue of the police report from New Zealand. The one that we obtained from the ministry of justice is all that we will need for my fiances interview. We do not have to sign a release form for the consulate to send off for it. Like the lady said...why would they send off for the same police report that we allready have? It would make no sense. So now we feel much better no longer being in the dark.

*sighs*

How did you get someone to actually talk to you on the phone from the vancouver consulate? whenever i call.. all they tell me is that they dont speak with people over the phone directly and im always told to write them an email (WHICH THEY DONT RESPOND TO!) Did you dial a different number? or whats up? i wanna talk to someone instead of waiting for a never coming email. thanks smile.gif

When I called the consulate, a recording stated that they would not accept calles regarding k visas. So I was under the same impression. Like I have said in previous posts...I have been eailing continuously with no responses. I finally decided to take a different approach and began sending the same email with my questions several times a day under different accounts. I put my phone number in the email as well.

I was contacted this morning. One thing you should know...I was told that I should have been putting the case # in the email. I'm not sure why, but this is what I was told.

Good luck!

Hi,
Sorry I forgot to paste that link in my previous post. Read what jenmac75 says in her Consulate review, and then maybe send her a message or email. It looks like she was on-line here on VJ yesterday.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link Carla. I actally emailed her on 12/27/07 regarding this very issue. She seems to think that we will be fine with the police report that we obtained from The ministry of Justice in new Zealand. Ohter think that the report that we have will not be good enough and that the consulate wants the same report that we have mailed to them directly. So who knows. This is why I have been trying to contact the consulate, with no luck of course. It is all just so frustrating.

Thanks for your help!

Does anyone have any idea as to how long it normally takes a petition to get from the NVS to the consulate in Vancouver?

Our petition arrived at the NVS ON 12/17/07. We have not received packet three yet. I have not even attempted to call the NVC. I am trying to be patient.

Another question...

Has anyone had any trouble emailing/getting a response from the consulate in Vancouver? I have sent three emails and a fax regarding a question I have about my fiance police certificate from New Zealand. No one has ever responded. I have even attempted to call, but received a recording stating that they would not take calls regarding k visas.

We are at a total loss at this point. I am completely mentally drained.

So sorry you're stressed not having heard any replies to your questions. Is there anything WE can help answer you? I know of one memeber here who was interviewed in Vancouver, and had to get a police certificate from New Zealand. Is THAT a coincidence or what?? Anyway, perhaps we can help. Doesn't hurt to try!

Hope you hear something soon as well. I agree with flames that there is usually a shortage of staff in December, and while they don't do as many K's in Vancouver, surely that's not all they do.

This is the exact email that I have been sending to the consulate in Vancouver.

To whom it may concern;

My fiancé is originally from New Zealand. He now lives in Canada and will have his k1 interview soon. Do we need to obtain a release form, so that the U.S. consulate in Vancouver can request for my fiancés police report from New Zealand? Or will the one that we have obtained from the ministry of justice in New Zealand be sufficient at the interview?

If we need to sign a release form, please tell us how to go about getting this form.

We need to know soon, because we have heard that it could take up to 8 weeks for the Vancouver consulate to receive the police report from New Zealand, if in fact we need to sign a release form.

Thank You

Stephanie

I would love it if we could get some straight answers. I have attempted to post this exact questions in several of the forums. I have even sent personal messages to people associated with New Zealand here on VJ. IF you could help, this would be great.

thanks

Has anyone ever requested a specific interview date at the consulate in Vancouver? I'm just wondering if we could request a specific date(middle of February) when we fax our checklist back? Or, how would we go about this?

Thanks

Steph and Muz

It looks like we're on the exact same timeline lol. Van consulate got ours on the 28th and was mailed out on the 3rd to my house. Will you 2 be going together for the interview? Amber and I were thinking of a mid feb interview as well. Maybe we'll see you guys if you go with your Canadian Fiance tongue.gif Dont be shy to say "hi" if we do run into each other hahahaha.
