Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 Aug 2012 filers

Hi August filers,

Just wondering: is it 60 days or 60 *business* days (i.e. not including weekends) that is the window they give you for receiving your GC? My husband was approved on April 29th, so next Friday brings us to 60 calendar days since we received that news. I've seen from the postings in this thread that others have also been waiting this long, but some are getting their 10 yr GCs much faster.

What's up with this long wait??!! Grrrr.... Anyway, I just wanted to know when I should call the USCIS if it's still not here: Monday July 1?

Thanks!

if you check the post above yours, you will find my approval date is 04.16.2013. biggrin.png

oops, thanks!! blush.png

Looks like we are more or less on the same timeline, about a week or so behind. So there is still hope it will come soon. They really are taking the full 60 days to send the cards, then, like is says it might take on the approval letter!

Hi, Guys, I received my card yesterday on 6.12.2013. Card Production ordered on 06.06.2013, Card Shipped on 06.10.2013

Hi, I'm also an August filer. My husband got his approval letter on April 29th and as of today (June 14th) still no card. I know your card production date was June 6, but when was your approval letter dated? We are through the California service center. Thanks!

Hello everyone.....just want to know if the NBI clearance is sufficient in lieu of police clearances that one should get in places they've lived since 16 years old?......and is there a rule on what size of paper i should print the emails and chat logs?....thanks to anyone who would be kind enough to answer me :help: :)

you will only need police clearances if you lived outside the Phils for more than 6 months/per country or place, if you have not lived abroad all you need is your NBI clearance. No rule on what size of paper you should use, you can use short or long coupon bonds, i printed mine on short bond paper

...thanks....i'm still waiting for NOA2 but i like to start working on some proofs i need to bring for the interview...our relationship is on its 8th year now and i'm not so sure how to go about printing emails and chat logs coz it's quite a lot....since you were kind enough to answer me i'll ask again what would you suggest i do....would it be enough to choose an email for each month for the entire 8 years?....thanks again.

Hi! It would be wise to have it all available but i don't think the CO will question much of your 8th year relationship  It is a sure approval for me  As long as all important documents are complete especially DS forms, BC, NBI, Police Cert, Ceno if applicable, I134, and other important dox in your case.

We are in our 4th year and we did prep all and we mean ALL (snail mails, emails, phone logs, etc for each year) and they only asked for 3 snail mails (original) and that's it. But as a good advise have everything available at least to cover 2-3 correspondence for each year and the most important is within the 2 year period when you applied for this petition and also include the current ones. Just be prepared with all the possible documents to support your relationship. You wouldn't know what they are going to ask until you get there. I know the whole process is stressful but you'll do great

WHHOOOOPPIII We were approved for our visa during interview today. We had 7:30 am interview, we were there at 6:45, back at the hotel at 11 am.

Thank you so much everyone especially PW and Sheriff Uling. We took Sheriff's map to interview, it helped a lot althought things have changed a little since the orginial post was done. I will let you know later what they are.

The CO was a middle aged white guy, he asked us to sit down, swore us to tell the truth. Asked Gra how we met, when did I come to see her, then made the comment that I must really mean this to make 3 trips in 9 months. haha of course I told him I could not stay away from her. He looked at the photos, made comment, "nice rock", we just smiled. The the photos of the engagement, he was impressed said "you are romantic". Gra had done a great job with the folders, even putting stickers on the pics, like "faces of love", etc. He said it was very well done, and that it made his job easier. He said he enjoyed looking at the pics. hahaha Then he said, "You are approved, this looks great, do you have any questions?" We asked for an embassy pickup and he said "no problem". Waited to be called again and that was that. now the celebration.

Dean and Gracia

CONGRATULATIONS DEAN AND GRACIA  Well done! I am so happy for both of you! Hope we can make it too with flying colors on Wednesday! Getting nervous though  I guess it is just normal to feel this way. We trust it all to HIM!

Glad you call them  ...they're pretty reasoble plus you talk to a live person and of course you can visit their local offices. You can compare their quote fare prices to the online prices like cheaptix, travelocity, etc. before you buy. By the way...tell us about that VONAGE $25/month for unlimited international calls...is that true? Never heard of it  .

Except for travelocity.com, do you guys know any online search wherein I can look for ticket prices?

Thanks

HI Gracy_Byron! I don't know where you guys are located but base on your profile you have the California USCIS office so I am guessing you are in California  Try TRAVELFAST INTERNATIONAL/MANGO TOURS. They have offices both northern and southern California (San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles) http://www.travelfast.com/ 877-262-6452. Been purchasing tickets with them since 1993 so they are pretty reasonable when it comes to fare to the Philippines. Hope this helps.

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status

Hi everyone! We just finished our Visa Interview in Manila today and it went without a hitch or problem. Here are some tips I can give:

- Someone had a guide here with layout of the place. Print that out and follow it.
- DO NOT BRING YOUR X-RAY films. I saw a lot of people with it - it's not necessary. Just make sure you brought the sealed envelope St. Luke's gave you. It's a hassle carrying that large envelope around anyhow.
- If a guard outside tells you to wait on the side first and you can't get in the "Waiting Shed" area, don't believe him. I dropped my fiance off to park the car and found her waiting on the side (where the vendors and fixers are). I went to the line and asked another guard and he said I could go in. Just tell them you're for immigrant visa. We were there around 5:40AM and our appointment was 7:30AM.
- If USC is here to be with the fiance for the interview bring your PASSPORT
- Don't bother bringing cel phones or any other electronic device. You'll just surrender them.
- Inside the place you'll be given a ticket number ACCORDING TO YOUR INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT TIME. Ours was 7:30AM so we had to sit and wait until all the 6:30 appointees got their numbers first. So getting there really really early if your appointment is at 8:30AM is useless.
- Don't worry about the numbers being called or flashing on the board seem to be higher than yours. You haven't been bypassed. They call the numbers in a somewhat random order - I think according to who can get your file together quicker.
- Familiarize yourself with the surrounding - which window is what number - A few people wandered around when their number flashed looking for the room or window to go to.
- Make sure you have 2 extra passport photos and your complete forms. The person in front of us didn't and so they asked him to go back outside and have passport photos taken, gave him missing forms and had them complete it frist. Instead of being #1 for our time slot they went to #24. still no big deal it was about an hour difference.
- Bring at least Php 300.00 for paying Delbros for delivery of fiance's passport and visa. Ours cost around $165 (??) I think.
- Be honest - don't be nervous.
- They asked us the following questions:
> How did our relationship start
> When did we first meet face to face
> When did I propose
> Were we ever married before
> Do we have kids
> What do I do for a living? (the petitioner)
> When did I arrive here in Philippines (petitioner)
> When do we plan to leave for U.S. (we said sometime in May)
.... Pretty basic questions. There wasn't even any cross-examination, i.e. we weren't tested to see if we really know anything about each other.
- I prepared a new set of pictures and copies of boarding passes, receipts, etc. to present as an ongoing relationship. The pre-screener Just took the pictures gave us back all the other photocopies. Then the Consul NEVER even looked at the pictures just gave it back to me, which surprised me. She just went through my old pictures (from my submission of the petition in the U.S.)
- Here's another thing that surprised me. They didn't ask for her Police Clearance or Barranggay Clearance or CENOMAR. Just NBI and Birth Certificate is what we handed over.

Well that's it. No big deal. No hassle. Just make sure you have all your papers ready. Good Luck Everyone!!!!

Arnold & Joan

Check out this info from "Arnold and Joan"....what are they talking about "SEALED ENVELOPE GIVEN BY SLE"? My fiancee just had her appointment but was only given her X-ray and vaccination record. I am confuse  Should she get one? Why there is no SEALED ENVELOPE given to her? Is there something wrong with her medical record? PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status

Hi PW and Sheriff! I haven't seen my fiancee since November 2004 but we got approved already by the USCIS and on our way for the interview on 04/25 at USE Manila. Will this affect the approval of her visa? I am not going to the Philippines until next month...I'm worried  Please assure me it's going to be okay.

don't worry, you'll be fine. the requirement for having met in the previous two years is for the submission of the
129F petition. best of luck with your upcoming interview.

CocoPuff, I don’t want to rain on your parade but just trying to be objective and realistic here. Although you have met the requirements at USCIS level (and you just barely made it), the fact that you have not seen each other for two and a half years may raise a red flag with the embassy. Better have a good reason why this is so and make sure you send your fiancee a copy of your plane ticket and other proof of your planned trip like hotel reservation, receipt for the plane ticket, etc. to prove you are visiting again. This should help in convincing the consul that you are serious about the relationship.

make sure you have plenty of evidence to show genuine ongoing relationship. PW's suggestion of copy of plane ticket and intinerary is very good idea. It was 16 months from my last visit till Yazi's interview. one thing we did was have plenty of phone records. the interviewer was impressed by page after page of almost daily phone calls.

Thank you for your advise PW and Roy & Yazi! I am very paranoid now these days  We have plenty of letters/mails/greeting cards/emails/phone calls...you name it! I even have a personal letter addressed to the Consul of the reason why I wasn't able to see my fiancee with supporting documents attached. I don't have itinerary yet of going to the Philippines to pick up my fiancee. Surely I am going either May or June but just don't have date yet.

Four years of correspondence (tons of documents) for her to bring to the embassy, she even have a hard time thinking of how is she going to bring it all :help: She heard that you cannot bring any kind of bag at USE. Any suggestion aside from a portfolio (she has one already but its not enough) that she could use to place all her documents :help:

And yes  she is done with the medical (04/10-04/11) and SLEC was pack of applicants! She finished almost 10pm on her first day. So far no problems and she didn't even get any vaccine shots because she has most of it  But they recommend her for the Tetanus and Diptheria to be administered here in the states before AOS.

Phil-Am Families...

I would like to have a moment of silence for our longstanding and now departed Manila Embassy Interview thread and a warm welcome to the new one... May it be as much as of blessing to others as it has been for us.

Cheers!!!

Sheriff Uling

You never cease to put a smile on my face Sheriff  I miss the old Manila thread  but our new baby is starting out strong

I feel so behind the curve, not even sending my packett to USCIS yet.

Ayayay! What are you waiting for? Send it out before the two years since you last saw her is up. You don't need to show income upfront when filing the I-129F. Income will be required 6-8 months from now during the interview. By that time, you're well above the poverty level.

If it's been two years and a day since you were in the Philippines, you will need to come back here to satisfy the requirement of having met within the last two years. I'm not even sure how USCIS will count the days when you last saw her ~ date of receipt at USCIS? or date of adjudication? For example, if you saw her last on May 15, 2005 and then you send in the I-129F on April 15, 2007 which is still within two years, but at the time USCIS adjudicates the case on July 15 (assuming you are processing through California or Texas), then it would have been 2 months after the 2-year requirement. Then, the adjudicator may have a reason to deny your petition. When was the last time you saw her by the way (month and year).

US Citizenship General DiscussionIO says can't take a decision yet after the interview
QUOTE (procrastinator @ Jan 18 2009, 02:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have heard that in some cases the IO says after the interview that we can't take a decision about the approval yet and you will be notified in mail later. And then people wait for months and hear nothing from the uscis. This has happened to atleast 1 person I know and his fault was that he didn't notify the uscis of his change in addresses during the last few years. I didn't do so either, and now I am worried that I might have to go through the same thing. Anybody has more info regarding this?
Thanks in advance.

Well the IO will give you a white sheet with the pending decision checked over and it states that to allow around 4 months (I think) for them to decide on your citizenship. If it goes over the number of months you can call them or set up an infopass to follow it up. IMHO, a change of address is not that big of a deal but you might have to check on other immigration forums and see if someone also has that similar situation.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew Person, Stupid Question about the K1 Interview
another angle to think about. whether you end up waiting in a cafe a block away or are actually at the interview together, you are there for each other. and after that, you can be together to say bye (or bye for now!) to his friends and family. also, you get to travel to the us together and help him through the border crossing. if anything goes wrong at any of these stages, you have each other to run ideas off of and try to laugh off the stress, if possible!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffadavit of Support-evidence- BANK LETTER
my bank says they don't issue letters like what the affadavit of support is asking for, but that they can print out a summary of all my accounts. what has everyone else been doing to satisfy this requirement? I have bank accounts, a mortgage and equity line of credit all through one bank. is a bank statement good enough?

another question:
I make a good salary and have a letter from my employer. Making the 125% poverty line is not an issue, fortunately. Ive been working for my employer for almost 5 years and im permanent. But I don't have money in the bank- i usually keep a fairly small balance because im focusing on paying off debt. i owe my dad some money, not much, and i just finished paying off my truck. so is this going to hurt me? is there a minimum balance they are looking for?

my real financial asset is my house. i ran some comps and have a good idea of what it is worth-minus what i owe=my equity is good. what is the best way to present this? it seems like my computer printouts of comps would not be official enough.....?

this is what i have assembled:
employer letter
paystubs
IRS transcripts for the last 3 yrs
bank statement summarizing all accounts, mortgage, equity line, credit lines
life insurance policy
retirement policy and 401 K statement
comps on my house to substantiate home's current market value

thanks everyone!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionemail addy for consulate in ECUADOR?
Does anyone have an email address for the US Consulate in Guayaquil Ecuador? All i can find is the phone number for their "visa information service" (VIS). I want to ask a few questions, like what kind of evidence do they need for the affadavit of support, and how many receipts from things we've done together do they expect to see.

thanks!
